Mickey's Drive-In

I drive past there all the time and had a taste for a good MEATBALL sandwich. Well??? It was the worst tasting meatball I've ever had. The meatballs were burned and the sauce tasted like it was from a can. I'm sorry to say this. I was hoping it was gonna be my new "go-to" place for lunch.

One of the best hot dog places in Chicago, though lines are not out the door probably due to relative anonymity. Many of the guys behind the counter have been working here for years besides the owners and family. Hard if not impossible to pass up should you be in the near western suburbs. Fries are exceptional too.

On my way to the airport after a week working in Chicago, I had to get one more dose of Chicago food and saw this place so I made a u-turn. WOW! Over 50 years in business, multiple award winner. Very busy even mid afternoon. Owner served me, told him to feed me whatever. Did not disappoint! 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #chicagodog #italianbeef

Ok, I love this place so much. I came all the way from Denver to eat their delicious food. I got the two for $7.99 hot dog w/ fries special, the hot Italian beef sandwich and I got a Polish dog deep-fried. HOTT DAMN everything was so damn tasty. From the fries to giardiniera that fell off my Italian sandwich. The service was great, more like fun cuz they all you 2 or 3 times what you got so they can make sure they get it right. And it is cheap to eat there. It was less than $25 for all that deliciousness! Mickey's, you have my heart, thank you! I will be back.

Been coming here since I was 7...they spoiled me on such superb beef sandwiches that I have to stop when im in the area....ALWAYS!! please just try it and remember...the bar is set after you eat this....

Wow, what a treat! The Italian beef is top notch, sliced thin, tender, juicy and packed with flavor. It's great on It's own but don't hesitate to add the spicy giardinera. The Chicago dog is a solid choice and my friends loved the meatball sandwich.

Grew Up going here. Great Hotdogs! 🌭 Sorry to see how much Price went up. And now Not even include a drink with the 2 "Hot Dog Special". Yeah. That hurt. Used to be Way More Fries with it too!! 4.5 This is the only place that I can eat a deep fried polish from. It's always nice and crispy edges and not dry. The fries are good and hot and perfectly salted in my opinion. The beefs are usually good but sometimes can be hit or miss with the flavor and thickness of the meat. The prices are reasonable with specials. I wished they stayed open longer for more neighborhood options. Small parking lot but they get you in and out quickly. The staff is kind and funny. The ambiance is a stand up eatery.

Beef was ok. It had a nice flavor, but wasn't to strong. They aren't cheap with their beef or peppers. You get what you paid for. The service is ok. They were attentive. It's a solid beef and I would rate it 6/10.

Mickey's Drive In is located on Mannheim. I use to pass by here and have eaten their beef before. I feel like the beef was better the times I ate here before. It was seasoned w/garlic and had much more flavor before. I'm sorry to say I made a point of coming by here to get their beef sandwich. I arrived exactly @ 10:30 am as they were turning on the signs & opening for business (great timing) Today I was disappointed by the beef as it had thick pieces & it wasn't as good as it has been in the past. The beef was chewy, not very tender & lacked the flavor. There are so many good beef places in Chicago & the Chicagoland area for me Mickey's fell short today.

I've been coming to Mickey's for hotdogs since I was a teenager. They have the best hotdog with everything in Chicago. There's something incredible about the steamed bun and the salt from the french fries that are wrapped with it. The Special for 2 hot dogs continues to be one of the best deals for food in all of Chicagoland. If you're looking for a true Chicago hot dog experience, skip the chains, and check out Mickey's on Manheim. You won't regret it.

Dipped mini beef with sweet and hot peps. Perfect first meal when arriving in Chicago. Flavor was good and the setting is just what you come to expect. Fast service, and I put the mini down even faster!

It's Mickey's on Manheim, accept no substitutes. The building is from the '50 and it's beautiful. If You don't know where it is, beat it tourist. This is for us; Natives. The flight has been delayed and I don't want to sit on the shoulder with the four ways on - Mickey's. Oh crap,I missed lunch; Mickey's. Snow is flying and the traffic will not move - Mickey's. You get the picture.

Service is quick, ambiance is casual and the food is great but recently they are a little too heavy handed on the oregano and I don't like the new taste of this but that's just me. Plenty of meat on the sandwiches. Reasonable prices and good food. Hot dogs are great. I would recommend trying it out at least once. Always return when in the Chicagoland area.

This place is a throwback in every kind of way. It's fast, filling, convenient, and very very cheep. I was able to get my chili dog for $5 in about 2 minutes. It's rare to find a place that's this efficient on your time and wallet in this day of inflation. Great job to the team here!

I came back home to Chicago and swing by one of my favorite places to eat. I had my favorite the Italian Beef Sandwich bro it was so good. My son loved it also he had the polish sausage sandwich my goodness it was good.

Wow stopped at Mickey's today and it was fantastic great food at this OG spot. Maybe the best beef around. Natural tasting and so perfect on his great fresh bread. They give you a nice portion of meat too so great I had a combo sweet with a side of hot fries and a drink. I haven't been here in a few years but it's great as ever. Fast service from this quality spot. Been open a long time and for a dog & beef shop in this area, it says a lot. This is one of those places that is worth a try even if you have to drive. It's near Brookfield zoo so perhaps a picnic with great food is the call you will not be disappointed with any food item here because it's All great totally great food

I went this poor ass ma and pa restaurant where I was charged twice.. First off they didn't wash their hands just nasty..I went to ask for my money back and the low budget manager told me he wasn't giving me my money back..im like why not yall charged me twice and I'm asking for my money bak..smh all he kept sayingvwas we been here 64 years om ok yall still charged me twice..damn shame as high as food is they charged me twice and refused to give me my money back...I will never ever go there again and that was my first time going there..but neva again tho...

Mickey is a staple in the area and been there for probably over 50 years. Meatball subs great as well as hit dogs. Just wish they had fresh fries instead of frozen. Workers always delightful

I love the 2 hotdog special; with an ice water, you're set for lunch. It's the best hot dog in the neighborhood. The fries are generous, and taste ok for the price. The hotdogs are top notch. The poppy buns are steamed just right, with a great crunch of the salad on top. Not a fan of their italian beef, but could have been an off day for them. In general don't wait to eat or else the steam overwhelms the bagged food. The service is great, with nice & friendly staff. I inquired about the beef n cheese eggrolls, and they gave me a free sample. Get there early, or be prepared to wait during the lunch rush.

Came here hungry and was blown away by how good it was. Italian Beef was on par with any of the best in the area IMO. Hot dog was fully loaded and tasted great. Good bread and good hot dog bun as well. I love supporting real spots like this. I'll be in the area a lot over the next few years and am planning on coming back here a lot.

I was going to give Mickey's 4 stars, but IT IS THAT GOOD. I usually get the Combo Beef/Sausage but I tried the Meatball sandwich and it's awesome, too! Fries are OK, and they have RC / Diet Rite Products, which is not as good as coke, but better than Pepsi (and totally old school). What makes it so good? The secret to a great combo is both the BREAD and the SAUSAGE. Their Gonnella Bread is always fresh and the sausage is zingy and savory! I get mine "juicy - no peppers" They also have MINI sandwiches, so if you're a "chazzzzer", like me, you can have that "extra nosh". Stand up eat in only! Even though it's not technically in Chicago, it's "Chicago" as hell!

I love this place. Grew up in the area. When it comes to hot dogs and fries in bellwood, no one beats Mickeys. They make it right in front of you. There quick and friendly. Even add some mild sauce to your fries if you want to take it to the next level. The beef is decent, not portillos, but still tasty.

I've been eating at Mickey's since I was a kid, and have always loved it. Their fries are amazing, I order them well done because I like them crispy. There's nothing like a classic hot dog. On my last visit, I added cheese sauce on my dog, and I can't believe I waited so long to try it! The way the flavor of the cheese, sweet peppers, and hot dog meld together is phenomenal. It is worth noting that I love cheese. If you're like me, definitely try this! I also really like their chocolate shakes :)

Haven't been there in about 5 years, had a meatball sandwich with mozzarella and hot giardiniera, was by far one of the best ever, anywhere!

WARNING: This review is not objective! There's way too much history between me and this neighborhood to be objective. So get over it. First things first. This is still one of the best places to get a CHICAGO STYLE HOT DOG and fries - at least in the Western 'burbs. It's all done right here... Thick-skinned boiled dog, fresh chopped onions, cold dill pickle, juicy sweet relish, steamed buns, tasty sport peppers and thin long fries wrapped right in the paper with the dog. And they've been doing it this way for at least 35 years... Almost nothing's changed -- hell, they still sell RC Cola! So, what's changed? The 'hood, man! When I lived in Bellwood, it was about 95% white and the other 5% was "everything else". Today, my quick blast through the streets of the past leads me to believe it's 95% African-American and 5% "everything else". I'm not saying that's bad for the neighborhood -- everything's got to change, right? But it's definitely bad for classic Chicago Style Hot Dogs. Here's where I start to tear up. While I was there.... sniff-sniff... er, a brother came in and, oh don't make me say it! Dammit! HE ORDERED A HOT DOG WITH KETCHUP (oh the humanity!) AND I SWEAR TO GOD -- MELTED CHEESE SAUCE ON IT! I was so sure I wouldn't be able to hold it in, I grabbed my greasy bag and my styrofoam cup of Diet Rite and flew out the door. In my car I soothed my soul with the sweet taste of decades of dogs, soon putting the whole thing out of my mind. Don't let me scare you away. Mickey's (here or in Villa Park) is still the real deal, and whether you get 'em to go or dine in while watching the trucks blow by on Mannheim Road, it's a short trip to a tasty past every time!

The Best sloppy Joe! Not grade school cafeteria or Manwich. Just bought 5 for under 20 bucks for lunch for myself and my wife. We aet 4 and put one in the frig for later. It was even better reheated. Along with the hot dogs and chili dogs it's a great lunch. place.

So I'm not a big fan of the Italian beef. actually I'll give the beef (2/5) I left this place alone for about 8 years as this seems to be a local favorite and I just wasn't able to figure out why. After trying it again it's still not good to me. haha However I have started eating their polishes... (I like the Mike Ditka/large polish most) I keep forgetting to try their pizza puffs (everyone on Mannheim road makes pizza puffs even the subway down the street...left hand on the bible) No place to sit. get your food and get out lol...well you can eat at the counters that goes along the window. Micky's usually stay open to midnight and 1am on Friday and Saturday

What can I say? It's a greasy spoon type of a place, but you definitely get your money's worth. Portions were excellent. I thought It might have been a bit high when I was ordering, but when I saw the massive amounts of food coming out I changed my mind. In fact, I know better than to order some things just for myself now! It isn't much for looks, but it keeps the wind and rain out. The staff is super friendly, though. Parking lot is kind of small, but that they have one at all in the neighborhood is a plus.

If you're ever in the neighborhood because you're renewing your license up the road on Mannheim then make it a point to come here for the beef. Phew. Just polished off a wet Italian beef with hot peppers and two thumbs up. So tasty. Beef was moist and bread wet after a nice dip. Perfect amount of hot peppers. It ranks up there for certain. Good stuff. Glad I stopped in for a "roadie".

Anytime I'm in Chicago, I visit Mickey's. They have the best food around. There is nothing like a polish or combo from Mickey's. If I still lived in Chicago, I would have to walk everywhere I went just to make up for my love of their food. Customer service is beyond compare.

We stumbled upon this while on the way home from a day in downtown Chicago.....how lucky we were! First, the prices are good. We got the 2 hotdogs, fries, and drink special for $5.90. We also got a pizza puff. The hotdogs are perfect Chicago Style hotdogs. It's not only the right toppings, beef hotdogs, and poppy seed buns; but this place PREPARES them perfectly. The toppings are super fresh, the buns are high quality and steamed to perfection (no hard or soggy buns here), and the hotdogs are perfectly juicy and warm. The fries taste great, not too greasy. The pizza puff was good, but those are hard to mess up. The place is small, but very clean inside. There aren't any tables, just standing space around the walls. We will definitely visit Mickey's again when we're in the area.

Neighborhood classic!!! Known for hotdogs, Italian beefs, pizza puffs, polish, sloppy joes, etc etc. If you live in this area you've definitely tried this place. I've been eating food from here since I was a small child (5yrs old or younger). It's in walking distance for the neighborhood & it's not many restaurants surrounding. My favorite is their deep fried polish & fries. It never fails me. The workers have been here for YEARS!!! They're all friendly. Service is fast and they get it right. They're busy at lunch, but they get you in and out.

This has been around since the 50's making good Chicago style hot dogs. Its really not much to look at in its decor and color but they sure got some good dogs. Hot Dogs - always taste fresh, poppy seed buns is a must. Polish - Really good, Vienna baby. Pizza Puff - lightly crispy, golden brown. Beef's - Great taste, with peppers please! Sloppy Joes: taste ok, they add a bbq sauce in the mix.. could be good or bad. Il have to try it with cheese and mustard. Cheese fries - for some reason the cheese taste different here, its almost more milky or thicker.. taste really good. This is a good drive-by place off of 290 that really has some good Dogs. They close at 12am, and you will find that you don't really wait too long for your food. They have counters to eat your food on if you want to eat it quick inside... no chairs.

This place was recommended by someone who grew up nearby. Apparently it has been there forever. I certainly hope it stays forever. Just a classic beef stand with great food and that unforgettable attitude that al's beef used to have back in the day. I will be back.

Under rated Chicago hotdogs. The dogs are slim so you can double dog it up. Also the fries here are good. Nothing special, just fresh with good salt.

Best Chicago dog ever and super cheap eat. Every time I visit Chicago this is literally the first stop after a flight. No one in the country does it like Chicago. Cheap, fresh, and yummy. $7 for 2 extra large Fries, 2 drinks, and 2 Vienna's all the way. The only thing I didn't like is that the guy was making my dog w/o gloves and was running the register touching money, etc. no Bueno! However, the whole in the walls with not so good hygiene practices have the best food..lol

Ravanous and craving a dog I decided to swing into Mickey's! Now the place isnt much to look at as it is a small stand up counter to order and counter space around the window to eat. But for pick up it is AWESOME and fast! I ordered a Hot dog and a Polish No fries with all the trimmings!(thats how the Shake & bakes rolls)......as good as any other Hot dog joint in the CHicagoland metropolitan area! My little Mexican compadre behind the counter suggested I get the Polish Deep fried!!!!! AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! HA!!! For a good dog go here!!!! shake & bake seal of approval!!! Hard to imagine a better tasting Italian beef that can beat Portillos, but Mickey's delivered in the clutch. Get it with cheese, it blew my mind! Great hole in the wall joint...will be back again!

Had a taste for a beef from somewhere other than Bueno Beef. After reading the reviews, I thought I would give them a chance. Afterall everybody's taste is different, right? Well I was the only one waiting to order as I walked in, some other guy was sitting eating his pizza slice at a table. The place was empty at 2:15 in the afternoon. The lady behind the counter was less than friendly and didn't warm up at all. I ordered a beef with gardinera. A little over 5 bucks not bad these days price wise. The guy brought just a beef up to the counter said beef! I asked him for the peppers I order he gave them to me but no thank you or any smile ( just like the lady I ordered from no smile or gratuitous behavoir. I was expected to shop in her restaurant! ! Beef was bland but decent size. I WON'T BE BACK!!

I never got to eat the Italian combo I ordered because of health concerns. First off, none of the staff wore gloves when preparing the food. They would swipe someone's credit card and then barehanded grab the the bread and cheese and make the next sandwich. I walked out when the blonde kid in the back that was eating a piece of chicken, put it down and starting preparing food without even washing his hands. Please tell me these poor food preparation habits are not the norm in Chicago..... Gross!!

The best hot dogs period. Good sloppy joes, excellent gravy bed and beef/italian sausage sandwiches. You don't have to say much, some of the best fast food around - CHEAP!

I stopped going here a while ago due to the fact that every time i went in there I would always order their fries with mild sauce. Nothing else. Which is SUPER good, but they never put enough sauce. Ok. No big deal. I'll just ask for more. They ALWAYS had an attitude whenever I asked for more, like it was my fault that I didn't like the amount they put. I don't have to put up with attitude when I'm paying you to make my food. Plus the guys there would always give me weird looks, and I just overall felt super uncomfortable going in there. I put up with it for awhile because these were REALLY good fries, but I didn't wanna do it anymore. Good food, bad service.

Whenever I'm back in the old neighborhood, I try to stop by Mickey's. Too many memories to not return for a Mickey's dog. They no longer fresh cut their fries so they are pretty ordinary. But the dog never disappoints. Only a stand up counter so be sure you know the proper Chicago stance. But the RC cola has got to go. Probably the worst imitation of cola I've ever had (it was bad by RC standards). Of course considering that every Mickey's location serves RC and always has, I don't hold out much hope for a worthy replacement.

Meatball sandwich sucked. Terri le taste in meat and sauce is bland. Beef was ok but we asked for sweet peppers, guy working confirmed sweet peppers, and still managed to put hot peppers. 13 dollars for two regular size sandwiches is a bit high. We were passing through. Most likely won't return either way.

The Italian beef egg rolls were delicious! We also got fries and chicken tenders. All were served to us fresh and hot. Very good experience!

Being an Italian Beef connoisseur this place rocks!! Excellent Italian Beef's with hot peppers of course. Nice hot salty fries! They also have great Chicago Style Hot Dogs and Polishes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Delish!!!
