Dan and Blake are amazing! This store is filled with treasures big and small. We purchased two stunning chairs and a beautiful couch. They were incredibly helpful with fabric selection and some customization. Their communication throughout the process was very much appreciated.

Google
The store is like walking back in time with all the cool stuff. Plus Blake and Dan are the best! They found me exactly the couch I needed.

Danielle Manzano

Google
My boyfriend and I absolutely love this place! The two owners are always so sweet and accommodating, willing to help us find exactly what we’re looking for. We always find such unique pieces for some great prices! For sure recommend this spot for both the customer service and furniture!

Google
I found the PERFECT table and chairs at Mid Century Store and had so much fun poking around all the wonderful things there!

Amanda Stephens

Google
Great store with a fantastic selection and the owners are incredibly knowledgable and friendly. Prices range greatly depending on the piece, but there are many highly affordable options and the owners are willing to negotiate depending on how long a piece has been on the floor. I recently purchased a lounge chair and while there talked to them about a vintage lamp that I was having trouble putting back together after it had been in storage. They offered some advice and sent me home with some large rubber washers, gratis, that they thought could work for me. Thanks to them my new living room is almost complete and my 60's Laurel lamp is back together and fully functional!

Google
I love shopping at the Mid Century store. Dan & Blake are awesome, they are always courteous with a smile on there faces. There prices are great and have an awesome selection. I like to go and check out there new items at least once a month. I love my new swivel pink chair. I also purchased a beautiful Broyhill room divider.

Google
Loved my experience with Mid Century. The shop is beautiful and it is a treat to go in and see what treasures they have. The owners Dan and Blake are so great. They were so friendly and helpful. We bought a new dresser for our new house and it is beautiful. Chuck and the delivery crew were also so careful and wonderful that we hired him to help us move some of our large plants! 100% going to stop in again for more furniture for the new house.

Natalie Arenz

Google
Blake was super friendly and helpful! My fiancé and I purchased a set of dining room chairs. We left the store without purchasing to think about it. Once we decided we wanted them, we called the store and Dan provided an invoice to my email. Process was smooth and quick. They have a variety of beautiful pieces in their showroom. We love supporting small local businesses and will visit again as we continue to furnish our home.

Yelp
Wonderful and evolving inventory. Very fair prices. Nice guys! Some years back when I used to pull up, my son who was about 10 at the time would say "Oh no! Not mid century shopping again!" I still can't resist popping in when I'm in the area :)
google avatar

M. D.

Yelp
What a nice store! The owner was very nice and helped me choose a mid-century vinyl chair that is a great accent piece in my house. I was very happy with the price, and he even helped carry it to my truck. Happy to recommend this store to others
google avatar

Yelp
I love coming here to browse and get inspired. We recently made a purchase and asked for some small alterations. Dan was able to knock out the adjustments within 24 hours and our piece was ready to take home! Support local, get *real* furniture, and enjoy this wonderful San Diego gem!

Caroline B.

Yelp
Loved this place! The owner who was in the store was very friendly. They have a great selection of MCM furniture and lamps. I'd shop there a lot if I lived in the area

Catherine J.

Yelp
Oh, my. What a remarkable place! I wish I had come with a truck, but it's probably better I didn't. Wonderful selection of mid-century furnishings, including a beautiful range of table lamps, all of which are rewired by the loveliest man (I regret I can't remember his name, but I was so dazzled by everything, including the fact that the shops are located in this super-cool building called the Pharaoh's Court Apartments). Had been looking in vain for a vintage low, long dresser, and they had several outstanding ones. We walked out with a beautiful Brown Saltman set, and the owner Dan even knocked something off the price without our having to ask because we bought two. And two lamps and an incredible Harvey Moore bronze sculpture. Just a wonderful vibe and great people. Stay away! All mine!

Yelp
Absolutely love this store. Blake is so pleasant to deal with. Beautiful inventory. Something for everyone with varying prices. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Looking for unique? Special? Classic? Well constructed pieces? Check this place out. Dave is friendly and delivers. You're gonna have to look at everything. Enjoy

Yelp
These guys always have what we want at a great price. It's hard to walk into their store and not walk out with something fun and unique. Unlike other mid century stores their selection of items is amazing at great prices and they'll open to haggle with you if you buy several items :). All through out our home we have pieces from the shop. Thanks again D&B.

Yelp
Dan and Blake were fantastic to work with! We got a customized Z loveseat with black vinyl cushions from them after falling in love with the one on display in their store. Even though we were preparing to get ready for the move, they were able to meet our timeline (6 weeks roughly) and delivery went without a hitch. During the waiting period Dan was communicative throughout the process. Payments were completed online making the entire transaction super easy. While we did not buy other items in the store I found most of them reasonably priced. I wished they had a store in SF Bay Area.
google avatar

Natalia M.

Yelp
such a cool spot! I came by looking for a credenza and met the owner. He knows a lot about the items in his shop which was amazing! I saw quite a few pieces that I'd love in my home and I'm excited to come back here once i move in! but overall - quality items and a great owner!

Tim C.

Yelp
what an awesome store great furniture and furnishings. Excellent selections from lamps , tables . The store had a brass table that came from India thats gonna make my place pop with envy. I will shop here for my crib . Great knowledge and friendly sales staff .

Yelp
I'm a Baby Boomer with a penchant for anything related to the Mid-Century Era. I still remember a lot of the furniture I grew up with & how much I loved it for it's streamlined looks & sheer functionality. I also simply love antiques, particularly old bone china, such as Victorian dinnerware & chocolate tea pots, rare Depression Glass, Josef Originals, Coalport, Wade, Goebel, Haviland, Wedgwood, Lladro, & many others. I also have an EXTREME penchant for original & signed Jacques La Lande lithographs, and the list goes on. While you probably won't find this type of antiquity here, what you will find are Mid-Century treasures in great condition. We donated or gave away almost all our furniture when we recently moved back home to San Diego because we had every intention of furnishing our new home with new (old) furniture. And so.. Once we began looking at all the common furniture stores, we started to see a trend on what we were attracted to. It was the Mid-Century Modern furniture. Or, should I say I always was in love with Mid-Century, but my daughter was finding she loved it too. Excellent! We agree! Yelp is such a great tool in so many ways. And it was Yelp searches that helped us find "Mid Century" in the North Park neighborhood of San Diego. WOW!!! Mid Century will blow your mind! Not only do they have a ton of furniture, but they are quite particular about the condition of the furniture that they'll accept. The Mid-Century furniture is arranged neatly & proficiently. You can spend a couple hours in this store because there are so many Mid-Century treasures to see. A small sampling includes: * Lamps for every room * Dining Tables * Side Tables * Dining Chairs * Lounge Chairs * Writing Desks * Dressers * End Tables * Outdoor Chairs * Entertainment Pieces ..and so much more. New pieces are accepted daily. I like to go back every couple weeks and see what's new, and specifically, to see if there is a certain piece I'm looking for. A very well managed store, with friendly owners. Have fun on your hunt! *wink

Yelp
What a great find! Came across this store while doing the 7 Bridges urban hike. Wonderful collection of vintage furniture with fair prices. I found the perfect wall clock for my condo. Helpful and friendly staff, and I'm delighted to support local craftspeople and artists.
google avatar

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about this store. Great inventory, super knowledgeable and friendly owners, and fair prices. Love it that you can return something in 30 days if you don't like it or it doesn't work with your decor. Not many places offer that. I regularly poke around mid century places in San Diego and Palm Springs and this is the first place I visit.
google avatar

Joanna B.

Yelp
I found this gem of a store, and they have some beautiful pieces! The staff/owner were so friendly and helpful, and they gave me a good deal on my newest beloved treasure.

Yelp
PLEASE support this most amazing locally-owned shop. This place is a beautifully curated dreamscape of classic furniture and accessories. Everything from high-end items to moderately priced smaller decor. They have remained open during the pandemic with safe procedures and thoughtful hours to try to accommodate who they can. Always a friendly face this is a queer fam friendly facility by a couple who genuinely cares about their community and their trade. I bought a gift here and they even wrapped it for me in a simple and classy brown paper get up all ready to gift! Thank you Mid Century for doing whatchu do and I'll visit every time I come back to SD.

Yelp
Meet Dan and Blake: who sells furniture from mid century from 50's 60's & 70's. The business was founded 1986. It's been in the same location for over 30 years with new ownership since October 2014 This is a place to find some cool things to decorate with. I saw something that I liked but slept on it and thought what I could use it for. It can get competitive with antique stores. Sometimes Interior Designers get ideas for their designs. ~ I bought a serving tray with a small bowl sold separate. I asked what was serving platter made with and it was stainless steel that was made in the 60's I looked up the bowl and it made by Susan Webb Connemara, Ireland ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The owner has some unique things inside the store. I could spend all day in here. It is beautiful even kind of intimate with the dim lighting and invites me in and I keep going back for more because the pieces are so unique. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SEE YOU SOON!

Yelp
I LOVE THIS SHOP! My fiancé and I just moved in down the street and wanted to find a vintage piece to go in our new home. We were so excited to find this shop was open. The entire place is immaculate. Everything in there is gorgeous, unique, and in excellent condition. We found some beautiful early 60's cabinets to put side by side and use as a bar cabinet in our home, for a very reasonable price. Blake, the owner, is so awesome. He was very helpful, knowledgeable, and obviously passionate about his work here. He went above and beyond to help us and was so fun to work with. I can't say enough good things about our experience here! I can't wait to come back for more!
google avatar

Yelp
Such a great store with an amazing vibe. The shop is a treasure trove of incredible examples, and the decor is so whimsical and wellcurated. My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of working with Dan, and he excelled with stellar customer service. We looked at a piece on Saturday, and returned to buy it the next day after visiting a handful of other shops. It was delivered a few days later to a second floor unit with no elevator and an awkward landing. Five stars for the space along with five stars for the purchase and delivery. Looking forward to working again with Dan, and we will be checking back for more in the future.

Yelp
We have furnished a big portion of our place from here. A truly magical mid-century haven. I highly recommend the owner and the selection. No pressure browsing like some high dollar sales floors, come in browse comfortably without someone over your shoulder. And he is there when you need him. 5 stars for sure.

Yelp
QUALITY ITEMS AT GREAT PRICES & GREAT SERVICE I wanted to get more than I could afford of course because most of the items in here are definitely of the vintage style. Pro 1: Each item is tagged with the "1960's" or other time frame it is from which is pretty cool, and they also have post-it's, pens and tape measures. Pro 2: Prices are fair for each of the items and the owner/manager seems negotiable depending on the item! Pro 3: FREE DELIVERY WITHIN 10 MILES * Bought my adorable (yet giant- and a pain in the butt to move) kitchen hutch/ pantry on a Sunday and they delivered it to me at 6pm on the following Tuesday- 2 days later! And it was not a delivery service.. it was the OWNER/MANAGER (Dan) himself! I will absolutely be back in and will recommend this place to anyone looking to furnish their home/apt!
google avatar

Beryl M.

Yelp
Love this store! Got 2 lamps here when we were vacationing in SD and the owners were so helpful and friendly. Will definitely come back for more midcentury pieces.

Jason F.

Yelp
Even if mid century modern isn't your style I highly recommend a visit to Dan's store. You might just find that perfectly unique item that you didn't even know you were looking for!

A C S.

Yelp
Blake and Dan: The best of the best. Not pushy, informed information on all of their fine pieces. Knowledge of Mid Century at its BEST. If you need furnishings at a fair and honest price - run don't walk to this time warp MCM fabulous resource. Even if you don't need anything, go there and revisit your past or your parents or grandparents. Its the best of the best with wonderful owners. Can not say enough wonderful things about this store!!!!

Wyn F.

Yelp
This place is like the Room of Requirement. We always find something great to meet our needs. Fortunately the pieces they sell come in good condition *without* costing an arm and a leg. Love the selection and service!
google avatar

Brenda C.

Yelp
I've been here twice and both experiences were completely different. 1st time: super friendly and attentive. ended up buying a credenza at a much cheaper price than you'll find from other mid-century sellers and they delivered it to us the next morning for free 2nd time: it was like I didn't exist. I don't know if they thought I didn't look the part but I was definitely eyeballing a chair that I would have gladly walked out with then and there had anyone acknowledged me I recommend the place on price alone, their selection is ok (probably worth coming back in a few times until you find what you're looking for), just don't expect consistently good customer service.
google avatar

Nicole F.

Yelp
If you want a special piece for your home with character and history, this is the place!! Forget those new mid-century lines at Macy's and Walmart that only mimic the beauty of what this store sells authentically! Blake and Dan will make sure you get the perfect piece, tax is included in the price and they offer a return policy to give you the confidence in what you're investing in. We loved browsing the inventory and chatting with the owners, they clearly love what they do. We will be back for more soon!
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Excellent selection and good to fair prices for a well curated collection of mid century furniture and accessories.
google avatar

John G.

Yelp
Upon entering, I thought I'd died and went to heaven, which is 1961 or so. One is greeted by St. Eames and taken to the holy credenza and ottoman for judgement. Herman Miller beckons you forward and angels begin to sing. Drexel, dated 12/60. Actual Eames chairs. A really cool dog as well. One could spend a day in this little shop and still not see everything. Were the owner to move in a stove, color TV with a clicker and a bath, the wife and I would rent the place monthly. She took the ^&(^(*&$# chair right out from under the owner, who sold it to us rather happily. So, please do not shop here. It is mine, ALL MINE!
google avatar

Dave M.

Yelp
The best prices in town for Mid-Century bar none! 80% of all my 60's Danish goodies are from Mid-Centruy Design and the best part is that I didn"t have to pay LA prices for them .Jeff the owner is super cool and always seems to find the best stuff. The best thing about Mid-Century/Jeff..... is that there is zero snobbery here. Just great prices and cool stuff! 5 stars Sean in Kensignton
google avatar

Larisa R.

Yelp
If you are sooo far above buying anything comfortable or reasonably priced, than you might fall in love with Mid-Century. Do you feel that design peaked 50 years ago, in Sweden? This is the place for you. Do you enjoy a chair (without irony) that looks like it has been sitting in a government office since the Hoover administration? Would you like to pay $400 for that chair? Take your snooty, I mean, sophisticated behind over to this shop on Park (oh, how you wish it was Park Avenue and not Park Blvd., I know) and stock up!
google avatar

Liz L.

Yelp
This place is a little treasure trove of fun mid-century design. You can find some amazing things here at reasonable prices. Yes, I said reasonable. Maybe you could find something cheaper at the thrift store, (or Jerome's, as Joseph said, and don't forget Mor Furniture for Less!) but these pieces have already been found, reupholstered, etc. I have purchased several things here, including a credenza, my couch, a lamp, a chair, and some pottery. They are all some of my favorite things. I did have to reupholster the couch (it was a steal though at $350), and I may replace the cushion on the chair because the foam is too soft, but really I have no complaints. The owner is nice and has always provided great customer service. I highly recommend you check it out! PS you can see the pottery I bought here: http://acolorfullife.com

Yelp
It's funny, I went on a mid-century mission the other day, and headed to Park & University where I knew there were two stores with strong Yelp reviews: Mid-Century and Design One. I first stopped in Design One and spent five minutes in there. It is pristine, sparse, carfully curated, and ridiculously pricey. Two seconds later I arrived at Mid-Century, and it was everything I had been hoping for - a stark contrast to Design One. It is delightfully cluttered and brimming with an outrageous amount of goodies for the eyes... but it is somehow appropriately so. Every piece I saw felt well-presented and merchandised as part of a realistic home clutter... thus, I could picture every item in my home more naturally. I liked the charm of the jam-packedness... It didn't feel like a museum or gallery (the way Design One feels). I felt comfortable interacting with the items, exploring the potential riches for my home. That said, it was a wee bit too cozy with the immense amount of product in the small space... I think it's time for a sale! :) The fella who helped me was very nice, though clearly not a regular employee as he had to call the owner about my questions... but I thought that is the mark of a good store, where they will go to the trouble to fulfill your needs. He offered me good deals on items, but wasn't over-attentive or meddling. I thought that the prices were fair... though 'fair' is hard to gauge for mid-century items, so I would consider it pricey for many. But fair-pricey... know what I mean? Getting great pieces for the prices. Anyway, I recommend heading here whether or not you're looking to buy... it will be a treat just to browse. I can definitely say this will be a place to which I will return (Next time I have a little extra cash, anyway).

Suzan B.

Yelp
I love mid century furniture. Its so clean and simple. This store has some beautiful original pieces. If you like it...buy it then because they sell fast. Yes...really nice furniture.
google avatar

Marie G.

Yelp
Used furniture that has been cleaned and fixed up to be close to new while retaining the style. Some stuff has stains but if that turns you off, there is plenty of other stuff to check out! We bought a beautiful table with chairs for our first time hosting a holiday dinner. The chairs are comfortable and unique: the back is on hinge so it leans, but at a good height so you don't feel you will fall. Paid about $1400 for the set (it's a table that seats 10 and 6 chairs) which is worth it for us because we can buy used but also high quality. The people complaining about the owner ignoring them: the owner is ready to assist with anything and is very friendly... if you ask. I appreciate not being hovered over, especially because I went in about 10 times before we actually bought just to browse. Definitely my style; I don't like someone else directing my attention to what will get him the best commission.

Yelp
Shopkeeper chats while a tail wagging dog shows me some stuff from my dreams.
google avatar

Alison F.

Yelp
I stopped by Mid-Century Design during a day-long search for a bookcase and a chair to go with my desk at home. Here's what I thought: Pros: *TONS of selection. Lots of mid-century furniture and home delights. * Not a snobby high-end store (I'm looking at you, Design One) * Owner was very friendly * The store dog is very nice Cons: Unfortunately, I didn't find what I was looking for, but I will be returning periodically just to see what's in.
google avatar

Eric H.

Yelp
Stopped by after learning about this place through word of mouth. I've actually known about this place for a few years now, but never ventured inside. Jeff (owner), was quite friendly and was easy to talk to. The store is cluttered in a good way. The furniture itself, was well, quite nice. It was easy to lose track of time just perusing through the store. Worth a visit, even if you just want to do the HGTV thing and pretend what your house would look like after shopping here.

Harry C.

Yelp
Such an amazing experience here! I popped in to look for a bookshelf, and was immediately greeted with such kind and helpful staff. While at first delivery wasn't available due to maintenance on the truck, Dan took my number and texted me the second he had his truck for a day. The extra effort and care he took in bringing my bookshelf to me made all the difference. I cannot wait to go back!
google avatar

Duncan Y.

Yelp
Such wonderful cute and quirky vintage finds here! I love this place! I try to go at least once a month and I very rarely leave empty handed and I never leave disappointed. So much charm in this shop and the owner is incredibly nice. Plus, there is a really friendly shop dog that will come greet you. What's not to like?!

Bob And Preston P.

Yelp
Mid Century furniture and antiques on the border of Hillcrest and North Park was a delightful find. It started with owner Blake Macaluso replying to an email I sent, asking about Danish Modern bookcases. He described two and I drove from my home in La Mesa (12 miles east of downtown San Diego) to his store. I ended up buying three pieces. The store has great inventory, affordable prices, is in a good location, and Blake has an exceptionally friendly business manner. He can refer you to someone who will deliver at a very reasonable price. If you're looking for nice looking clean-line classic home furnishings, or accent pieces, run, don't walk, to Mid Century.
google avatar

Emily D.

Yelp
I checked out Mid-Century Design for the first time this past weekend and had a great experience. The store had two rooms packed with stuff, but tastefully so. All of the furniture seemed to be in great condition and was reasonably priced. I bought a full-length mirror with a solid teak frame for $225, which I thought was a great deal after looking around for something similar for several weeks. The owner of the shop was great. He made me feel very welcome, answered all my questions, and never unnecessarily interrupted my browsing. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the market for furniture

Yelp
Huge selection of classic mid-century era furniture; original and refinished pieces with loads of living space accessories. I found the owners Dan and Blake warm and welcoming and extremely knowledgeable. I will be going back!

Allison M.

Yelp
I love this place! The selection is amazing, the staff is knowledgeable and the prices are extremely reasonable. They were flexible and helped me add be perfect piece to my living room! I will be back for sure!
google avatar

Yelp
Apparently 11:30 really means 11:45. Guy showed up and I'm waiting. He lets himself in and then locks the door. Fine. I'll spend elsewhere
google avatar

Dave M.

Yelp
Best Mid Century dealer in all of San Diego! 90% of my home decore from Mid Century design. Like mid-centruy design but hate LA prices and snobby attitude? Go see Jeff. He's down to earth, friendly, and has a great eye for design. He's prices are reasonable and his selection is the best-
google avatar

Joanie S.

Yelp
I've been a happy customer for four decades, and I've been recommending this shop for decades. I feel the staff is very knowledgeable and very helpful each and every time. They helpfully found the perfect buyer for my Great Auntie's fine silverware- someone who appreciated the pieces! Now I have random things that I'd like to sell from my family's estate, and I'm certainly trying here first!

C M.

Yelp
I visited this store over the weekend and was blown away by the friendly service and reasonable prices. Plus, their selection is really quite good. I found a few pieces that I 'had to have' and one that I didn't know I wanted. The owners meticulously wrapped my purchases and helped me to my car. I'm thorough impressed and will definitely be back when I'm in San Diego again. Kudos, Mid Century!

Erica T.

Yelp
We're thrilled with our new couch and chair! It looks amazing in our space and Dan went above and beyond in helping us get the refurbished vintage pieces from San Diego back home to the SF Bay Area. We couldn't be happier with the look or the price. Only disappointment is that we couldn't haul more back. If you're lucky enough to live in San Diego, run, don't walk to Mid Century and if you're in town for a visit make time to head over. Dan also offers the best recos for lunch spots to boot. You can't go wrong!
