Great location and good amenities. Cabins, and rooms, balconies in the rooms, verandah on each floor, pool and bar. Back of hotel has lots of trees and a butterfly garden, Toucans in the trees in the early hours. Beds are hit or miss, some firm, (which I like) some very soft, (which I got).

This hotel has its good and bad. 1) The amenities listed on the website is not correct. I'm not sure why their website shows a washer in the amenities. 2) Cleanliness. we had bugs and a steady stream of ants in our room. The sheets and towels are stained looking and had hair stuck to the linen. Also no comforter on bed only a sheet. It was very hard to sleep without a little weight on top. 3)Broken mirror and tiling in the bathroom.4) Mildew and humidity in the rooms are really bad and black mildew spots on walls and door. 5)Restaurant only open for breakfast(But the food was good). 6) No phone in the rooms so you have to walk to the front desk when you need anything. 7) The place would have been really beautiful if it was kept up more and dehumidifiers placed in the rooms. |The Good: The food at the restaurant was very good. Can't beat the location. The location is very centralized for tours and most tours will pick up from the hotel due to location. Restaurants are in walking distance. Grocery store and a fast food chicken place directly across the street. The hotel has water dispensers in the office so you can bring your water bottle and refill.

Can't say much yet, ad I only dropped by the bar one afternoon. Did not swim or order food. But Lawrence served us drinks kindly, efficiently and was very friendly... that said, I found the pool area cluttered and in need of a refresh.

Great place to stay in San Ignacio. It was comfortable and a walkable distance to town and the Cahel Pech ruins. The pool was lovely with a fun surprise in the corner and we saw toucans by the rooms in the morning.

Do not stay here. Pool is open to the pubilc and large groups come and crank music and rearrange the furniture over to their groups. Jungle atmosphere can be great but the floors were filthy and wet and 3 of the 4 of us fell, the bedding was always "damp" and the A/C simply could not keep up. There were electric wires and outlets dangling, fixtures spun out of place and broken, broken furniture, staff was either unavailable (waited 30 minutes to find someone to check us in!) or would complain to co workers about someone asking for something. (I knew enough spanish to understand). Major metal bars on the back of the little cabins. No horseback or fishing or butterfly house or alligator feeding as advertised due to a hurricane but no notification that those amenities would not be available. Yet, their "preserve" had a tour that was openly advertised in town. It was essentially a muddy dead end path. We are all good with roughing it but this was not OK. Nothing else available to switch to since it was December. Loud car noise as it was edge of town and drivers "floored it" up the hill. Good things - could walk to a few restaurants, grocery store across the street (albeit a buy street). Wrote a 5 page letter with photos to management and Chase Travel explaining issues regarding everything from coffee to toiletries (one bottle of combo shampoo/body wash and one mini bar of soap) to sheets hanging over the pile of concrete and debris and yard waste and dead appliances right next to the pool. I understand it's a emerging nation but this was bad, unsafe and not acceptable- we got stuck for 3 nights with 2 rooms. Our other hotel on Ambergris - less expensive and way better.

Way Overpriced. Room had no hand towels or wash cloths. Just 2 bath towels that were supposed to be white but were grey. The refrigerator was rusty inside. The pillows had a musty smell. The bar was closed at 630 pm. The cabin is a room with beds. And one small table. There are better places to stay for half the money.

Nice 3 star hotel, and a great value for what we paid (about USD $100/ nt in mid Jan). Our room in the main building was small and simple, but clean and comfy. The small fridge came in useful, especially with a supermarket right across the street. The location was great - a short walk to town but far enough away to be quiet at night. The staff was friendly and helpful, the restaurant had good inexpensive breakfast (the only meal it served), and we enjoyed the pool and pool bar. A lack of maintenance keeps it from being more than a 3 star hotel - for example broken reading lights and safe in our room, and broken or sagging seating around the pool (but enough useable seats to go around) - but for the price we paid were more than satisfied and would recommend the Midas.

$200 for this place you're better off to move on this place is not worth $200. It's a great place if you'd like this shit pipe running out right underneath the cabin. That's just one thing. We booked tonight and couldn't wait to get out of here they wouldn't give us more than hundred bucks back for the second night and we had to three rooms. I would highly recommend staying somewhere else.
