This hotel appears to be a 2-star property and is quite run down. From my observation, it does not seem to have been well maintained since receiving its TripAdvisor award in 2013. The beds are in serious need of replacement, the sheets were thin and stained, and the grounds and pool did not appear to be kept clean. Many items were broken, including chairs, hooks, towel bars, and door chains, and the furniture overall was very worn.||On our first night, the AC in our room malfunctioned and began screeching loudly at 1 a.m. The foam-style mattress was old and sagged so deeply that we could not lie flat. I honestly felt like I was sleeping in a Lazy boy recliner. There was also no hot water our first 24 hours.||We changed rooms on the second day, but only after quite a bit of reluctance from the owner. Our new room had functioning AC and hot water, and the bed was somewhat better, though still saggy. There was no interior lock, as it had been forcibly broken off, and the deadbolt did not fit into the strike plate (slot). The TV did not work, though that was not a major concern for us. We did have nice towels in the second room. ||If someone I knew were planning to stay here, I would strongly encourage them to choose a different hotel. The overall high score on TripAdvisor is baffling, and the photos online were misleading—they did not reflect the condition of the property upon arrival. My husband and I both felt that with some basic repairs and care, the hotel could be greatly improved. Even small details, such as the condition of the soap dispenser and shampoo/mini soaps they supplied would help. The photo of the sheets is directly after entering the room and before resting or sitting on the bed. Note the stain and indentations. ||On a positive note, the employees were friendly, the walkway leading to the bungalow rooms had nice greenery, and the pool area had plenty of seating (though quite dirty so we used our towels to sit on). The location was excellent—an easy walk to town and several tasty restaurants.

Great location and good amenities. Cabins, and rooms, balconies in the rooms, verandah on each floor, pool and bar. Back of hotel has lots of trees and a butterfly garden, Toucans in the trees in the early hours. Beds are hit or miss, some firm, (which I like) some very soft, (which I got).

This hotel has its good and bad. 1) The amenities listed on the website is not correct. I'm not sure why their website shows a washer in the amenities. 2) Cleanliness. we had bugs and a steady stream of ants in our room. The sheets and towels are stained looking and had hair stuck to the linen. Also no comforter on bed only a sheet. It was very hard to sleep without a little weight on top. 3)Broken mirror and tiling in the bathroom.4) Mildew and humidity in the rooms are really bad and black mildew spots on walls and door. 5)Restaurant only open for breakfast(But the food was good). 6) No phone in the rooms so you have to walk to the front desk when you need anything. 7) The place would have been really beautiful if it was kept up more and dehumidifiers placed in the rooms. |The Good: The food at the restaurant was very good. Can't beat the location. The location is very centralized for tours and most tours will pick up from the hotel due to location. Restaurants are in walking distance. Grocery store and a fast food chicken place directly across the street. The hotel has water dispensers in the office so you can bring your water bottle and refill.

Great place to stay in San Ignacio. It was comfortable and a walkable distance to town and the Cahel Pech ruins. The pool was lovely with a fun surprise in the corner and we saw toucans by the rooms in the morning.

Can't say much yet, ad I only dropped by the bar one afternoon. Did not swim or order food. But Lawrence served us drinks kindly, efficiently and was very friendly... that said, I found the pool area cluttered and in need of a refresh.

This is our fourth time at the Midas as a couple and the first time with our teen daughters. Our first time in the main building. The room was more of a suite. We had our only king bed of the trip, a large closet, full kitchen and large bathroom. Also, the only stay where the girls had their own beds. We love the Midas. It is nice to see the improvements they have made and are making each time we visit. It is a close walk to town. The little restaurant has good food and the pool bar is great! Owned and run by an awesome man! Pool area is nice and inviting, with many different sitting areas. The staff are kind, pleasant and helpful. Water pressure was fine most of the time, except once when I think many tourists were using them at once after a day of sightseeing. |It is not a fancy hotel but it has what you need and definitely feels like you are in Belize...which is what we are looking for!

Nice 3 star hotel, and a great value for what we paid (about USD $100/ nt in mid Jan). Our room in the main building was small and simple, but clean and comfy. The small fridge came in useful, especially with a supermarket right across the street. The location was great - a short walk to town but far enough away to be quiet at night. The staff was friendly and helpful, the restaurant had good inexpensive breakfast (the only meal it served), and we enjoyed the pool and pool bar. A lack of maintenance keeps it from being more than a 3 star hotel - for example broken reading lights and safe in our room, and broken or sagging seating around the pool (but enough useable seats to go around) - but for the price we paid were more than satisfied and would recommend the Midas.

$200 for this place you're better off to move on this place is not worth $200. It's a great place if you'd like this shit pipe running out right underneath the cabin. That's just one thing. We booked tonight and couldn't wait to get out of here they wouldn't give us more than hundred bucks back for the second night and we had to three rooms. I would highly recommend staying somewhere else.
