"Medieval Walking in Oslo's City Center For history buffs, Middelalderparken (the Medieval Park) is the place to go. The park is part of the 'medieval city of Oslo ', the part of Oslo that houses the most medieval ruins of once-upon-a-time cathedrals, churches and monasteries. Several buildings are still intact, like Akershus fortress (another afar.com highlight) and the beautiful Old Bishop's Palace. Many of the ruins aren't much to look at today; there are no ghostly structures and many of the ruins could be mistaken for random stones scattered on the ground, but don't let that fool you into thinking that this place isn't worth a visit. Walking here, you'll walk with the ghosts of Oslo's past. From here, you can gaze at the newly constructed business area known as 'Bar Code', and if you're of a philosophical nature, it might get you thinking about what has been, what is, and what will be..."

In winter the lake in the park freezes and you can walk on it. You can draw pictures on the snow with your feet (I did this one at the end of 2023)

This park is being renovated to be a big open park. It’s almost done and will include public toilets and plenty of space for all types of park activities. Lots to learn and ruins to see as well!

Difficult access for people walking, specially if visiting during winter time. Not much to see neither. Consider it just one more park, if you are close by take the time to walk but if you are far away it doesn't deserve the time spent to reach it. Oslo has other things to make your time more valuable.

This place was under the recovering so you just see it from outside. But there is lake and even if it was still icy it looks nice.

not much shade unfortunately, not really a park feeling. Lots of cute birds though.

It was a beautiful sunny day and we had a long walk with my friends next to the calm water. Nice experience and relaxing.

The lake is frozen now but it is a place where you feel country life on one side and city life on the other.

Nice place to chill out, mostly alone. Remnants of a church are also present, cool to look at.

Yelp
Middelalderparken is Norwegian for the Medieval Park in the borough of Gamle Oslo in Oslo, Norway. The park was built in 2000 in Sørenga in The medieval town of Oslo in The Old Town, Oslo. That is about ten minutes walk from the Oslo Central Station. The park is located within the so-called Medieval Park area, which also included the Memorial Park and Ladegården on the north side of Bispegata. In this area, development is not allowed due to ruins and plenty of cultural remains in the underground. There is alot of history and one of the cooler parks I've seen in the area. In the Medieval Park are the ruins of St. Clement's Church, St. Mary's Church and the former Royal Estate front open in the day. At the lake is half of the Oslo fjord shoreline as it appeared in the Middle Ages, reconstructed. The part of the park located at the lake is 43 acres in addition to the water on 22 acres. Oslo Middelalderfestival and Øyafestivalen are annual events that take place in the Medieval Park. A must visit.

Yelp
This was built in 2000 at far end of Sørenga, just south-east of the Opera. The park is located within the so-called medieval area of Oslo, which also included the Memorial Park and Ladegården on the north side of Bispegata. The areal have plenty of cultural layers and underground you will find ruins and medieval culture. The medieval Park lies within the medieval town of Oslo. Oslo Medieval Festival (http://www.oslomiddelalderfestival.org) and Øyafestivalen (http://oyafestivalen.com/) are two main festivals that that takes place in the Medieval Park.
