Very busy, trendy, organic restaurant in midtown. First time here and my wife and I are having lunch at 2PM. Estimated 30 minutes for lunch to be ready on a Monday afternoon.
Interesting menu with Smoothies, natural organic juices, burritos, sandwiches, soups, veggie bowls, healthy breads, and desserts.
Everything is freshly prepared and offers organic and healthy ingredients. Vegan and GF. Lunch for two with a sandwich, bowl of soup, side of steamed Kale and two smoothies just short of $50 bill including modest tip. You review the menu, order at the counter, and receive a number for your table to help the server bring you your order. Please remember your order because our server didn't know which smoothie was mine or my wife's. Next time we will order the same drinks.
My wife's Balto was their version of the BLT. You have a choice of sourdough, whole wheat and a honey walnut bread toasted. She chose the the cashier's recommendation as the fan favorite of the sourdough bread. My observation of her munching happily on her sandwich showed an ample amount of properly cooked bacon, fresh lettuce , purple onion and two generous sized slices of fresh tomato , with flavored Mayo dressing. The bread was nicely toasted and held the ingredients without coming apart as she devoured it. She said it was very tasty and well made. It was accompanied by the purple corn chips and a restaurant made Salsa. The salsa was mild and tasted as fresh as if made today. She was very pleased with her meal.
I had one of the two special soups of the day. They had a tortilla soup and split pea. I like both but choose the Split Pea. The soup was perfectly made at just the right consistency and flavor. It contained green split peas, carrots, onion and white potatoes . The peas had been cooked so that just a few were still partially visible. The small chunks of carrots and potato were cooked soft and had absorbed the flavor and spices of the spit peas. One of the best Split Pea soups I have eaten in my 76 years. Most are over cooked to a mushy green unappealing slush. This was very far from that!
The simmered Kale was very fresh and a brilliant deep green appearance. It was simmered just right without being mushy. It was crisp with a slight taste of the lemon. Very nicely done. The purple organic chips were served with the soup.
I would recommend this restaurant as they serve breakfast and lunch with healthy ingredients, vegan and Gluten Free choices. I believe that almost everything they serve is made in house from the freshest ingredients. They accept credit cards.
Next time we must try the desserts and baked goodie's.
