This is a really great stretch of genuine nature in an urban neighborhood, its a place I value so much for walking biking and taking out my dog who absolutely loved going their and had so many great memories, its so beautiful all year round and genuinely incredible to see changing throughout the seasons. Not to mention, the abundance of plant, fungi an wildlife within the first half, white tailed deer crossing, musk turtles and big bull frogs, a mallard couple who are always around somewhere if you can spot them all within the creeks, grey squirrels an chipmunk’s running around and a huge variety of insects and arachnids flying around and hidden in plain site if you get a chance to stop an look. Plus theirs so many different colonies of shelf fungi lining fallen trees its like no where else this easily accessible to see such diversity with what I know are turkey tails, false turkey tails, sternum facturnm and a few species of polypores, with botany wise these big beautiful patches of duck weed in the creeks either side, I still can’t get over seeing them every time I go.
Its honestly a great place to spend time alone, with family or friends and even meet new people. Ive had so many great conversations with strangers out their that as someone who has anxiety’s issues its honestly on of the best local places to push yourself and meet new people.
I love biking the greenway so so much but do be mindful it is a limited pathway and it can be busy in the morning to mid day so please be respectful of those walking and dogs. As a walker and a biker Ive had few instances of people coming up behind me with out signaling and I personally think thats pretty rude as it can be startling so be mindful and just make a kind call out to those ahead of you. If your training for a cycling event I would recommend trying to do it in the later hours, 4-7pm in the spring an summer when the pathways less populated because it will be much easier for you and Ive done rides for just endurance and speed within those hours and its much much easier and safer.
