Midgard Base Camp

Fantastic experience. Modern, clean bedrooms and shower. The common area is cozy and has board games and books. The food is good. The hotel store sells a bunch of hiking gear. ||It’s about a 10 min walk to the base camp from the nearest bus stop, so it’s a convenient location even without a car.

Stayed here with my wife, parents and my brother and sister-in-law. We all got private rooms and had sightseeing adventures set up for every day of our visit. I can not speak highly enough of this establishment. From the moment they picked us up at the airport, to the moment they dropped us off, we were treated like a family member. The location is lovely, warm and welcoming. Upstairs there are rooms that sleep 6, like a hostel setting. Smaller groups can share a room for a lower fare. We had opted for our own private rooms, which have their own bathroom and shower in the spacious setting. The food at the base was lovely, drinks as well. During our stay, we were invited for a stop in with an employee at their home. They served us a traditional breakfast and shared their life story with us. The positivity simply beams off of everyone on this staff, and you can tell that this place is more than just a job for them. I am so grateful that we found Midgard and cant wait to return there again in the future. A beautiful establishment set in a beautiful country. Thank you for having us!

We have a 1 night stay at Midgard Camp during our 9 days road trip in Iceland. It is our 2nd stop hotel of our trip.Though the room are not big, but it is comfortable, good and cosy enough for all. The family rooms comes with 1 double bed plus 1 bunk bed enough for all 4 of us. The whole place is very vibrant, friendly staff, nicely decorated and energetic yet peaceful and quiet for individual enjoyment. The whole place is very well maintained and It is very clean even the common toilet as I bathe there to avoid waiting for our private toilet to save some time. The common kitchen is for all guests and is well equipped. We cooked our hot meal as well as breakfast there. We can also enjoy the complementary coffee/tea from the hotel paid breakfast. Overall, We enjoy our stay there even though it is just 1 night. The location is easily found with the GPS, you wouldn't miss it. Highly recommended this place. Also, really appreciate the friendly staff giving us a round tour of the place explaining where are the common toilet, hot bathe tub, dryer for our swim wear should we use the hot bathe tub and sauna. This is indeed exceed our expectation actually. 10/10!

Our stay at Midgard Base Camp was pure joy from beginning to end. We felt welcomed the moment we arrived, and by the time we left, it truly felt like home. Gina was an absolute gem, always greeting us with warmth and kindness, sharing her local knowledge, and going out of her way to make sure everything was perfect. Her genuine care and positive energy made such a difference and added so much heart to our experience. We booked last minute for two nights and couldn’t have imagined a better place to be. The food alone deserves every bit of praise.. each meal was beautifully presented, full of color, flavor, and freshness. We tried nearly everything on the menu and loved it all. It was hands down the best food we had during our 10 days in Iceland. After long days of exploring, slipping into the rooftop sauna and hot tub while the cool Icelandic air surrounded us felt absolutely magical, peaceful, cozy, and unforgettable. Midgard has this rare combination of comfort, community, and soul. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down, breathe, and feel grateful to be exactly where you are. Wonderful location, amazing guides. We were a large group of women and midguard adjusted to our needs as well as the ever changing weather. They create a very family like atmosphere. Rooms were cozy and restaurant was fabulous! Thanks Bjorg and team for a fabulous first visit to Iceland!

Midgard Base Camp is a must stay if you are in the area!! The staff is INCREDIBLE, they are professional, very kind, and have such great energy you can tell they enjoy working there. The vibe was cool and fun and had the cutest special touches, including their sticky note wall which you are able to leave your own message and add to the wall! It was exceptionally clean. We ate dinner and breakfast there and both were great! Highly recommend :)

Great location and place to stop along our Southern leg of the trip. The “basecamp” has laid back vibes of casual travelers and those in the mood for adventure. It offers affordable hostel like options as well as more private/traditional hotel rooms which we appreciated. Of the amenities - the restaurant downstairs was one of our favorite meals and the hot tub and sauna on the roof was clean/well maintained.

We had a wonderful stay at Midgard Camp in Iceland. 😊 The location is beautiful, and the facilities are clean and well-maintained. We especially appreciated the opportunity to relax in the jacuzzi and sauna, both of which were available for free! Klara, was incredibly kind and welcoming.😍She gave us a detailed tour of the property and shared all the important information about the camp. The food was also excellent – very tasty and satisfying. We highly recommend Midgard Camp and would definitely return in the future. A fantastic place to stay in Iceland! See you soon! ❤️
