Had a great time here. Great selection of beers. Food was delicious and large portion sizes. I had the Mediterranean Melt. Wish the chips were housemade but still good. They didn’t have any gluten free beers for my friend, but plenty of cocktails and other drinks.

Friendly staff. Food onsite. Great beer menu and easy to understand pricing. Great view around the area from the 2nd floor.

Super cool place. Very good beer, amazing food. The Chicken flatbread, chef kiss. Our waitress, Sarah, was super friendly and had great recommendations. Not much more you can ask for!

I started working in Alaska a year ago and Midnight Sun was the first place I ate and the first Alaskan beer I tried. I also tried many other restaurants and breweries in the area, but Midnight Sun has become my favorite for food or beer. Their daily food specials are always amazing, and I love how they have a great variety of beers to drink (and they never disappoint). I highly recommend this place and cannot wait until I can show this place to friends and family when they visit.

As Anchorage's oldest brewery and the second oldest brewery in Alaska, Midnight Sun Beer Co. has earned its place as one of the state's greatest. With nearly three decades of brewing excellence, Midnight Sun continues to impress with its creative and flavorful beers. Our favorite beer at Midnight Sun was the cult classic, "Fallen Angel" Belgian Strong. Originally brewed on 06-06-06, its intriguing apple and pear flavors have garnered a cult following, and its annual release is highly anticipated by beer enthusiasts. This beer's unique profile and storied past make it a must-try if it's available during your visit. Our runner-up was the "Great Northern Chicken" double dry-hopped DIPA brewed in collaboration with "Chicken Phil" from Stillfire Brewing Company in Georgia. Hopped with Centennial and Chinook, this DIPA delivers a bold and hoppy punch, balanced by a smooth finish. The name might catch your attention, but the flavor earns it a must taste beer. Midnight Sun Beer Co. is located in the back of an industrial park on the second floor, giving it a hidden gem vibe. The taproom and kitchen provide a cozy and inviting space to enjoy with a small group of friends. In addition to their impressive beer selection, Midnight Sun serves lunch and brunch, making it a great spot for a mid-day meal. They also brew their own sodas, which are available on tap, offering a refreshing alternative for non-beer drinkers. Having first sampled their beers back in 2015, it was a surprise to see some of the same beers and labels still on tap or bottled and in use! It was a sureal experience recognizing beer names and bottles that we haven't had in nearly a decade.

2023.06.27 - Being from Houston, TX, I found the Greek Tacos that I ordered to be juicy and tangy. The Mountain Sandwich was huge and should be eaten in two sittings, see picture. The pretzels we ordered were soft and warm. The 2 sauces with the pretzels were perfect; a cheesy butter and a beer base butter. Delicious. Our waitress was spunky and polite.

As a brewery, Midnight Sun produces amazing, high quality beers of various styles. They will have something to suit everyone’s taste preference. Their food side at The Loft is a hidden gem. They have a killer menus of great food and daily specials that highlight the diversity of cuisine. Come weekends you are treated to a perfectly crafted brunch menu that has never left me unsatisfied. The chorizo biscuits and gravy are a must try.

Google
Midnight, sun has easy earned a seat at the top 10 breweries in Alaska They are brewery that is not afraid to take chances on stouts and various beers that are fantastic. I love it when breweries take a chance on various beers! Overall for a IPAs I would recommend the puffin, PleasureTown and, of course, the infamous panty peeler! The atmosphere was very relaxing, and they have outside seating as well! The menu was fantastic with some great choices and staff was helpful was well!

Yelp
Their sandwiches are delicious! I've tried their Blue Bird, the Mountain & the Ancho Beef Dip! The combination of flavors in each sandwich is excellent. Of course they have a great variety of beers on tab as well. Service is always great, the staff is very friendly and service is quick! They also offer food to go! I've stopped by a few times to order food to go or ordered for delivery. I will definitely come back for more of their delicious sandwiches

Yelp
Over the years, I've visited Midnight Sun Brewing Co. numerous times. While I've always appreciated the ambiance and unique character of the brewery, I've never felt particularly compelled to write a review--until I tried the Bleu Bird sandwich through DoorDash. Now, I can't stop thinking about it. This sandwich has become my latest obsession, and I'm writing this review with my mouth practically watering at the thought of it. The Bleu Bird sandwich is an absolute flavor explosion. It's perfectly crafted with bold, balanced flavors that have officially ruined me for other sandwiches. It's not just good--it's incredible, and it's the one thing that has me considering regular orders, whether dining in or delivery. As for the brewery itself, the atmosphere is always fun and lively. I particularly love the rotating displays of local artwork, which give the space a vibrant, community-centered feel. The staff are generally friendly and accommodating, and it's a spot that's easy to enjoy with friends or family. That said, I can't say I've ever been overly excited about the beer. It's not bad, but it doesn't stand out for me in the same way the sandwich does. For those who love trying new brews, it's worth exploring their seasonal offerings, but for me, it's the food that truly steals the show. Parking can be a bit of a hassle when the place is busy, but honestly, it's a minor inconvenience when you're about to indulge in something as delicious as the Bleu Bird sandwich. Midnight Sun Brewing Co. may not have won me over with its beer, but that sandwich alone ensures it remains on my radar for the foreseeable future.

Yelp
Food good, beer good, service good. This review is more for a family with younger children. Look, I know my family's needs aren't this establishments problem but my husband and I were extremely disappointed that this brewry-that serves its own food- does not offer high chair or changing tables. It was obvious to us that Midnight Sun does not welcome families with younger children. Just wanted to put this out there for parents/guardians that would require basic amenities for their children.

Yelp
We first visited Midnight Sun five years ago on an Anchorage brewpub tour. We are from Ohio. Our son recently moved to Anchorage, and we were anxious to return. We love the beer. We love the food. I've been following on IG since our visit. The Taco Tuesdays have caught my attention. So we picked a Tuesday. Well worth the visit. I had three tacos: pork, beef, and potato. Very good. We look forward to our next visit.

Yelp
After scoping out the specials I had to go with the Mac n Cheese which is made with Beer... how could you go wrong! So Delicious!! My Husband ordered the Mountain Sandwich and I had a bite and I have to say that was excellent! The ambiance here is so welcoming with the wait staff that keeps you coming back! Our server was Linnea and she was super knowledgeable on the Barley Wines which we appreciated, and saying that I walked out with several bottles for Christmas gifts!

Yelp
An Ace of a place! The staff, the food, the customer service, every thing about the Midnight Sun is great!

Yelp
Midnight Sun was my first stop in Anchorage. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had a full dining in food menu; paired with their list of beers. I opted for a beer flight and ordered a pint of one of the 4 beers I tried. All tasted great! On the way out, I checked out their cute little merch shop to snag a koozie and souvenirs!

Yelp
Service was a little dodgy when we went in terms of timely refills. We also tried sitting at one table after they told us to sit anywhere, and they asked us to move to a different table. There were a lot of people when we got there, but not for long, so other tables freed up quickly. We struggled for space with our party of 4. There was no dessert on the menu, and when we asked about it, they said there wasn't one for the day. Jokes were made about serving maple syrup and bacon. The food we did order was edible, but what wasn't consumed wasn't worth taking home. The canned cocktail was good, but the idea of a honey stick in a cold drink wasn't very well thought out.

Yelp
Not impressed. I was looking for a place to have dinner and I wanted to support a small business as always. I looked up breweries and this place has 4.5 so I went. I walked up the stairs and I asked for a table to be told to sit anywhere. I sat outside and I was told that they only served there when they have a wait or they are really busy. If you want to sit outside, it would be self serve. So naturally, I moved back inside. I asked for a root beer and a water and the waitress was very nice and professional. I ordered my meal and she promptly brought my drinks. 5 minutes after placing the order another staff member asked me if I was okay while I had my drinks and everything. (Not sure if I was giving some weird vibe). A few minutes go by and I get my meal and I thought that it would be better. The focaccia bread it's massive. You can feed a squadron for sure. The amount of tomatoes or the thickness will question why you ordered it and just plain arugula. (I held the mayo because I hate mayo). I actually did not eat the entire bread because I just did not see the need. The soup was good but it had a lot curry and it was intended to be Spanish but it sure was leaning more Indian with all the curry. I have lived and visited Spanish countries and I have never eaten something like it. To be honest, I was hoping for a better meal but the biggest dissatisfaction was the fact that I drank the entire rootbeer and the water and I was not offered an additional drink. My waitress never came back to ask me if it tasted good or was it horrible, nothing! To top it off, my bill for a BLT sandwich with a side of chicken curry soup, a rootbeer and a glass of water came out to $28 + $6 tip = $34 was a shocker. I think the place is spacious, beautiful decor, the staff seems to care for their customers but I just don't see the ROI. I hope that you have better experience than I did.

Yelp
Great food, excellent service. I had the pupusa (Friday night special) and my friend had the Ahi Poke bowl as well as the Saison. Art on the wall was for sale.

Yelp
Fun place to hangout! Chill vibe & friendly staff, enjoyed our visit to this brewery this summer!

Yelp
After trying a number of breweries during our visit to Anchorage, this brewery was by far our favorite. We had the Panty Peeler (Belgian Tripel) Sockeye Res (IPA Red) and 29 (Stout Imperial) They also have a pretty good size food menu but we didn't try any on this visit.

Yelp
We always make it a point to come here anytime we are in Anchorage. The beer is pretty amazing. On one trip we were able to tap a new brand while we were there. I believe it was called "Blacked House". They made a big to do about it. It was a little busy at the time, but it would have been nice to have had a small complimentary tasting of it. My husband noted that the building needs better temperature control. He feels that there isn't much of an airflow, so he's always trying to sit by their windows and aiming what little breeze he can get at himself because it can get pretty stuffy as this place always gets pretty crowded. (At least when we've been there.) Oh, and extra bathrooms would be appreciated. The few that they have can get pretty backed up with their patrons.

Yelp
Not only the tastiest beer in Alaska, but their "28" Porter is now my favorite beer ever, so yummy, and I'm normally a stout person. Guinness used to be my go-to beer, not anymore. The only problem is that they only make it every once in a while. It's not always available, so get it while you can if you see it. I promise you, you won't be disappointed. Oh yeah, and the food is awesome too! Can't get enough of this place!

Yelp
Great food, cold beer, fantastic service. This place is a hidden gem. I will come back as soon as possible.

Yelp
Always a favorite of our family! The Pozole Thursday is money! Beer cheddar soup is awesome!
google avatar

Yelp
Not only do they have a variety of beers but cocktails as well and they have great food! Fantastic soups, sandwiches and my personal favorite is the ahi poke bowl. Servers are so nice and knowledgeable. Perfect place to grab lunch and a beer with friends or coworkers. I do wish they were slightly more kid friendly... but it's a brewery so I came prepared
google avatar

Holly B.

Yelp
I ordered the beer cheese soup with broccoli. I got a GIANT broccoli. My friend ordered the same and got these perfect little broccoli pieces. The bread with my soup was also stale. I was disappointed with my food. I had delicious beer. Had the sour and it was great. Service was friendly and fast. The ambiance here is always busy and noisy! Not a place for a quiet beer.

Yelp
This place is like a 4.5 stars... First sit down at a brewery since being in Alaska and ordered The Smackdown and the waiter tried to tell me it's big and that it was featured on a foodie show and I said "sure why not". I just thought he was hinting that it's a lot of food for me but he obviously has not seen me throw down food. When he put the meat platter down, it is huge! I was hooked on the first bite and I figured afterwards it's the garlic bread! I heart garlic bread and that made it 5 stars for me but since the meat variety wasn't all marinated/flavorful...I took half a star off. I'm not a beer person but there's definitely variety. If I hadn't ordered a flight, I probably would've finished the whole sandwich (and wore a badge of honor for it... And hated myself), but I didn't hate myself after eating half and finished my beer flight, so that's positive.

Yelp
One of the better brewery/restaurants in Anchorage, with both the food and the beer being really good. I got the puffin pale ale, and the pleasure town, both very good and pale ales, but they have a wide variety of styles available, both on draft and to go. For food I got the mountain sandwich, which I loved, had a lot of meat and a nice soft bun. The staff were all super nice and cool. It's got both outdoor and indoor seating, with ample supply of both. The décor inside is cool, a nice wooden theme. They have a parking lot, but even if it's full there's nearby street parking. This may be the only time I get to AK so I'm glad I got to check this place out.

Yelp
I love Midnight Sun's beers. I think they're innovative, cover a wide variety of styles, and are most importantly very tasty! I think this is one of the more well known breweries in Alaska, and I had heard of them before I moved up here. I love that besides the classics they release beers that can only be found in the brewery so you have an exciting reason to stop by. On my last visit I had "termination dust", which was a long anticipated release on my part since I was pregnant last season. This barleywine did not disappoint. My favorite classics from them are panty peeler, monks mistress and pleasure town. I love that they have a kitchen in this brewery. Their menu is mainly sandwiches, but they also do daily specials that add some additional options. Each day their specials fit a theme. Their sandwiches are very tasty, and they have quite a variety to choose from. They also have a large selection of sandwiches that can be made into wraps, which my husband loves. They also make a good poke bowl, which is a random surprise. I've never gone for taco Tuesday, but have heard good things. Midnight Sun has a great beer selection, an in house kitchen, and a nice space with a small patio for summer time. They're definitely worth a visit if you're looking to have some good beer, and a simple meal!
google avatar

Lindy S.

Yelp
Great service as well as flavor packed tacos on Tuesdays! Known for their Belgians, but their West Coast style IPA - Pleasure Town 6.3 abv, 61 ibu is a good choice also. Brunch on the weekends are a local fave.... their house made chorizo is the best I've ever had!... try it on their biscuits and gravy!!

Janice W.

Yelp
Awesome food and service! Beer was great. Hubby had the French dip and I had the cheese soup and Asian Chicken salad. Waiter was Mark and he was spectacular! Very entertaining and accommodating.
google avatar

Joseph K.

Yelp
Midnight sun was already my favorite brewery in the country before I stepped in the door, and finally getting to try the beers in person just cemented my opinion. Do a flight, try some aged Beserker, you won't be disappointed. I can't speak on the entirety of their menu, but their Thursday special the Green Chili Posole was both comforting and refreshing in all the right ways, and the perfect bone warming meal on a cold Anchorage night.
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
Good food and a good selection of beers. The service was great. The setting above a microbrewery was nice.
google avatar

Tiffany R.

Yelp
I love midnight sun brewing for the cheap beers and good food. I've been coming here for about six months mainly because the food is delicious. I came here today and was mediocre. It was not as delicious as it usually is. I got the southwest wrap and he got the burrito. Service and beer were good. Think we will try some new brunch/lunch places before we come back. Rated 4/5 because the first time I came here it was amazing. Last few times I feel like food quality have been okay.
google avatar

Carla E.

Yelp
This brewery amongst the many is a MUST. The spread, and variety of beer they have is sure to accommodate almost anyone. Their food is also amazing- if possible I would recommend Thursdays specifically to try and catch their posole special- the red or green, you cannot go wrong. They have recently added a brunch as well, and like everything else it's to die for. The chorizo poutine is unreal. Top all of this with an incredibly friendly staff. Stop in and have a drink, and bite to eat, promise it won't disappoint.
google avatar

Robert K.

Yelp
Leche Robusta! It's everything you need in a beer! It's a nice dark stout with a very great horchata taste to it! The Festbier is a nice amber color to it. Very tasty and light and easy to drink. The Beach bum is very tasty. The mango syrup kind of over powers it at times. But very tropical and sweet. The snowshoe white is a very nice and light wheat beer, you can taste the spices of it. The Alpenglow is nice and tart because of the pomegranate syrup but still has a bit of spice from the snowshoe white beer. There are many beers on tap and bottles. Very great atmosphere to unwind and drink more beer! Would go and get a taste of the Leche Robusta while you can!

Yelp
Great food, great beer, great people. Worth the drive from our downtown hotel. Will be coming back again soon.

Yelp
Love the beer, food, service and ambiance. Been here many times while on travel for work. Always make the stop.

Yelp
Great beer and food. Had a longer wait after our cruise ended so we cabbed it over to Midnight Sun. Well worth it.
google avatar

Forrest W.

Yelp
Who knew this place had brunch? It's pretty good. Small menu but they do it well. I got the sockeye dish and it was great. The red beer is great as well. I would for sure recommend this place. Also, the wait doesn't take forever. I'd go at like 10:30am to bear the crowd.
google avatar

Shawn P.

Yelp
Located in a light industrial area of Anchorage, the brewery hosts an upstairs tasting area and food service (rare in this town). The limited menu is quite good with revolving daily specials. The beers are good and varied.

Colonel H.

Yelp
Perfect beer lover's ambiance, laid back. And great food at a very fair price, friendly service and superb beer. We really enjoyed the BLT and brown ale cheddar soup.
google avatar

KimBee A.

Yelp
Great service and the beverages are always cold! Loved the menu and available selection of brews.

Yelp
THE BEER IS OMG GOOD! Great atmosphere. When sun is out, small outdoor area is FAB. Food is good also. Had the Oosik amber - delish.

Yelp
This is generally one of my favorite places but it seems to be going downhill. My past few visits have seen me watching the servers walk around seemingly without purpose while you wait to be acknowledged. The beer is, of course, some of the best. You can get a decent cup of coffee for brunch (though getting a refill might be the hard part). Everyone that works there tends to have a good attitude when talking with you. My most recent visit might be my last for a while. Again we waited for the server to acknowledge us but she was very pleasant when we had her attention. My husbands 3 Cheese Squeeze (grilled cheese) with ham and tomato was barely toasted. He said it was more of a ham sandwich and not hot at all. My green pasole was good as usual but the avocado they put in there had a large bad spot I scooped out. I had a pasole to go for a coworker I ordered at the same time as my meal. They did not delay the order so it all came out at once. When I got to work I popped the lid for my coworker and was stunned. It had 3 1/2" space from the top. There was no avocado or lime to go with it. I ended up giving her back her money and eating the cost because I was embarrassed to even hand it to her after talking it up.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
I enjoyed a very nice hefe and some amazing pozole. The beer was great and the pozole was exceptionally flavorful and spicy. And we had a "ringside" seat for the activities at the midtown wildfire activities from the loft deck.
google avatar

Katherine S.

Yelp
Rating this solely on the beer and atmosphere, because we didn't order any food, but I've heard it's good. They had a pretty decent selection here, a little bit of everything, which is one of the determining factors for me to visit a brewery, I love variety. I also like to visit breweries that have things on tap/limited release that you can't get anywhere else, which this place does! I sampled almost all of the beers and went with something light but flavorful, the German style beer fest one, and it was really good! I love the atmosphere and interior design of the place. The ceiling decor and light chandelier reflects their logo and the place just flows really well. Staff are friendly, easy going, and very attentive. **the only thing I didn't like was for some of their infused beers, like the Alpenglow, are not actually brewed with pomegranate or whatever flavor their using. Instead they just pour the beer and mix it with a flavored syrup, which I thought was very gross and did not care for. ***
google avatar

Christopher A.

Yelp
Defines a hole in the wall find. The restaurant is definitely more spacious than you would think walking in. Went for taco Tuesday with a beer flight unique take on some of the sweet tacos worth it
google avatar

Ai L.

Yelp
great price for their beer (4-8 dollars for half a pint?) food also is decently priced. it's a bit hard to find. I did not know where I was going. My friend, who's local, took me here. daily specials and busy joint. first come first serve with the seats. we basically stood there and stared a table down. Great burgers and my friend enjoyed their tacos. Food menu does change seasonally, sometimes daily, depending on fresh ingredients available. Service is a bit slow at times, but mainly because they are so busy. We ate, drank, and chatted till they closed. Also, they close pretty early compare to other restaurants in town. go early! Small joint, I wouldn't bring too many people each time. we had a party of 4 which is perfect size I think. anything more than that will have a hard time to get a table.
google avatar

Yelp
Our days in Alaska followed a pretty standard routine of hiking, touristy thing, brewery. Winding down at the many awesome breweries in town was a great way to end our day and Midnight Sun was probably my favorite. We were able to sit out on the patio and enjoy the long day in mid-September. And our server was absolutely great. He was knowledgeable about his beers, but also beer in general. He talked to us intermittently throughout our night and was just a really friendly guy with good suggestions. We split some appetizers, including a very good charcuterie plate, and just enjoyed kicking back and relaxing. They have a wall where folks can "buy a round" in advance - you have to fulfill the requirements, whether it's being a fellow traveler from one spot or military or sharing an occupation. It was a really awesome touch to an already welcoming spot.
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
Different atmosphere, love the beer, can't go wrong with this place. The food is different, definitely a lot of heart in the planning, very laid back, just an enjoyable place to chill, eat, drink beer, and relax...very enjoyable staff too.

Yelp
No music! No dancing! No games! No bar stools! No beer after 8pm! Am I your teetotalling Great Uncle? A 1930's era politician? A Baptist Preacher? Nope: These are actually the LAW for Anchorage breweries. Ridiculous right? I learned this from my bill at Midnight Sun Brewing. Working within these bounds, they are doing the best they can with what they've got! They are probably the second-best-known* Alaska brewery in the lower-48, and for good reason. They pack a wide variety of brews that have something for every pallet: - Wits and cream ales for the greenhorns - IPA's for the hopheads - Stouts and porters and bocks for the maltsters - Belgians for the yeasty Euro set - Weird stuff for the weird people What I really appreciate is that the brewery seems to almost always have a couple things on tap that are difficult-to-impossible to get in the bottle/can. This is the best reason to go to a brewery! Nothing's more disappointing than going to a brewery, the factory that pumps out the suds, only to discover everything they have on tap is the exact same stuff they've got at your local pub. Midnight Sun may also be the only "true brewery" in town that also serves food. Mainly sandwiches. They are located in an odd part of town. If it looks like you're going the wrong way, you're probably almost here. Oddly enough, this area is starting to become a sort of "Brewery Blocks" for Anchorage, with King Street (http://www.yelp.com/biz/king-street-brewing-company-anchorage) and Anchorage Brewing (http://www.yelp.com/biz/anchorage-brewing-company-anchorage) located within biking distance. *you shouldn't even have to ask me about #1!

Yelp
Visiting from Seattle, this brewery is consistently my favorite. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive. All of the beers I tasted were delicious. I had a hard time choosing which to pack up and bring home. I ended up with the red rye barleywine and kodiak brown. The variety and quality of food is great, as well.
google avatar

Jonathan O.

Yelp
Accommodating staff with good beer and fresh food. However, I was most impressed with their 'Pay it forward' beer wall. Such a refreshing way to surprise, share gratitude and display kindness! My Haiku to beer forward Such a thrill to claim Even more joyous to share Happiness abound

Yelp
Yup this place is a must. The food was stupid good and the bounty of beer is wild. The porter was awesome I ate or should I say attempted to eat the throw down . So good the staff is very personable and knowledgeable of what they have on tap and menu.
