21 Best Restaurants in Charlotte

"Barbecue joints tend to be boisterous and fun-loving, and Midwood Smokehouse is no exception. The restaurant, a great choice for families or large groups of friends, has a casual vibe, which comes in handy—you'll want to leave that white dress shirt at home. The menu is packed with barbecue classics, including pimiento cheese fries, burnt ends, Carolina pork, and fried chicken sandwiches. You may scratch your head, though, when you see tacos on the menu, but they're definitely worth ordering. Don't forget to order a cold Carolina beer on tap, too." - Nancy DePalma

I appreciated that people were waiting to get seated at Midwood. That let me know that the BBQ was going to be good. The wait was not long (~20 mins) on July 4th. The staff provided recommendations if you are trying to figure out what to eat. The food service is pretty quick too. I ended up ordering a bunch of appetizers! The cornbread was flavorful and seasoned (8.5/10). The wings were delicious (9/10). I recommend getting the crispy (fried) wings. Lastly, the nachos were a hit too (7.5/10). The portion sizes were great for sharing.

They take their BBQ seriously (and it shows) at Midwood Smokehouse. I thought I knew good BBQ before.... The Midwood experience is akin to an epiphany for me. EVERYTHING was exceptional! The corn bread, wings, bacon wrapped jalapenos, smoked meatballs all outstanding. The "pig-out" offering of with brisket, burnt ends, chopped pork and ribs is a tour de force! The collard greens & hush puppies are addictive. The warm and friendly service as good as food! Reasonably priced high quality food and impeccable service is rarity these days. Highly recommend.

Google
Overall a very nice place for some BBQ. Would strongly recommend the brisket as it was moist and lean! It was really really good! As for the sides nothing crazy would recommend some different sides. But man the banana pudding, was sweet and a delicious dessert!

Google
Our basketball team was out here from Colorado. We were told this was the best spot and it did not disappoint!!! This food was the best BBQ I’ve had in YEARS. Not only that the service was phenomenal. Very welcoming with southern hospitality. The drinks were even better. I can honestly say there was nothing negative so say about this spot. THIS IS THE BEST BBQ IN THE CITY, DONT PASS IT UP!!!

Google
This restaurant topped every bad restaurant we tried on our visit to Charlotte this weekend for the Kendrick concert. The food was EXCELLENT! The service was even better! Our server Reese was on point, extremely professional, and overall just a great server! The manger Dustin was very personable and even offered us a free dessert that was truly delectable! I would strongly recommend them over and over! I wish I could give them 10 stars! Thank you to the staff for helping our food journey in Charlotte not be so bleak! Lol

Google
Everything from the food to the service from our server was fantastic. The place constantly changed new people and orders, which seemed like a good sign to my family and me. And this sign proved true. We got the sampler platter, and it was terrific. The ribs and brisket were fantastic, and we polished it off with the banana pudding, which was also homemade and excellent. This is a tremendous Charlotte spot for BBQ. The parking situation is a bit sparse, but that’s not the restaurant’s fault.

Google
Some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had! Great ribs, brisket, pulled chicken and the sides were also well-made and tasty. Terrific service, especially with such a large group. Definitely coming back when I’m in Charlotte again!

Google
Super delicious Carolina style BBQ with a wonderful atmosphere and great staff! The brisket was tender and juicy with just the right bark. All of their house sauces were flavorful and went with the meat well. Their pickled cucumbers were amazing, and the borracho beans were down home good! Would definitely go back!

Yelp
Had to try Carolina bbq so I had this place bookmarked before our trip started. Loved that also a local also recommended this spot as a go-to spot. Ellen was our server and she was EXTREMELY sweet and helpful. I loved her customer service and she was constantly checking in on us and recommending different items for us. Both my girlfriend and I got the well fed combo platter. I opted for the carolina pulled pork, jalapeno cheddar sausage, beef brisket and ribs. Also got BBQ beans and coleslaw as it was recommended by Ellen. I was hoping they had the creamed corn but they didnt. Carolina coleslaw is very different than what I'm used to. Their dressing is more vinegary than sweet but I loved that it was chopped vs strings. Cant ever go wrong with bbq baked beans and that was delicious and sweet. I would rank the meat as being my most favorite is the brisket, ribs, pulled pork and then jalapeno cheddar sausage. Their brisket was extremely tender and melted like butter. Meat was falling off the bones for the ribs and Ellen got it dry rubbed so we can try all of their different bbq sauces. Pulled pork was pretty dry to me and their sausage was generously cheesy but lacked a lot of flavor. Definitely taste the jalapeno but wasn't spicy. I felt the sausage could have more spices to provide a stronger taste but the snap was great. Their spicy habanero bbq sauce was my favorite. The eastern NC vinegar lacked a lot of flavor and did not taste like vinegar. The mustard was good as well and their original you can't go wrong with. The only other thing I did not enjoy was my cactus cooler cocktail. It did not taste anything like cactus cooler IMO. It was more lemony than an orange pineapple flavor. It was too sour to my liking.

Yelp
Delicious dinner at midwood smokehouse!! We were trying to think of a tasty, casual spot that would have some games on and midwood was perfect!! The service was great and our waitress was very helpful!! I had the half rack of ribs with Mac and cheese and a bonus side of beans because how can you not get both. The ribs weren't falling off the rack which is usually how I determine how good they will be, but these were still pretty good with some barbecue sauce. Their wings were fabulous and I would absolutely get them again! Plenty of parking around the building or in the rear parking lot as well.

Yelp
You smell the delicious scent of a smoke house as soon as you step out of your car! The establishment is a lot larger inside than it looks. The very nice host took us to our table. Mary was our waitress and she's great!! She answered all of our questions and even gave suggestions. Hubby and I decided to split the smoked half chicken, Mac n cheese for him and broccoli casserole for me. We also ordered the skillet cornbread. The cornbread came out as the appetizer, topped with a dollop of butter and honey was on the side to drizzle. Yummmm....wait. Hubby spotted something green ( he eats no greenery). Turns out, it should be titled Skillet Mexican Cornbread! It has jalapeños and corn and maybe cheese; at least put a description on the menu so people will know it's not just plain southern skillet cornbread. Mary offered to bring some hush puppies instead, but I declined since that already came with the entree. The kitchen was so nice to split the entree onto two plates for us. The chicken was seasoned well, the broccoli casserole was on point and the Mac n cheese was thick and hearty. There was an issue with the chicken, but management corrected it immediately and gave us a survival treat (not even on the menu) for the trouble. I would definitely come here again to try the brisket or smoked wings. They talk take care and show appreciation for their customers. Next came the main meal.

Yelp
The BBQ is excellent. EXCELLENT. The beer menu sucks. SUCKS. Please find someone who actually likes beer to make the choices of what is on the menu. For this reason I probably won't be back, no matter how good the food is. If a group orders a family style offering, please deliver SERVING utensils. The last thing you want is to see a person you are sharing with using the fork that was just in their mouth to serve themselves with. Should they know better? YES. Would they have used a serving utensil instead? I dunno, maybe. Much better than using their hands I suppose. Anyways, the BBQ is excellent. Your beer and your service also needs to be excellent.

Yelp
The brisket tips were so good and juicy and I loved their cola bbq sauce! The onions and pickles balanced the heaviness out and the hush puppies were warm and crunchy. I liked the Mac too! Service was good and the place was welcoming and clean.

Yelp
Great food and friendly servers. Relaxing environment and easy access. Check it out while Christmas shopping in Birkdale of taking ng on a movie.

Yelp
Service here is absolutely spectacular! Our waitress was the sweetest person who gave us an excellent run down of the menu and recommendations! We ordered the pig out platter to share between 4 people which I think was a really good amount of food. We also ordered the cornbread and wings to start, the wings came out smoking hot. For the platter we ordered the brisket, pulled pork, jalapeno cheddar sausage and ribs. My favorite was the sausage which had really great flavor and a snap to it! For our sides we got the fries and mac and cheese, which were ok nothing spectacular. I really enjoyed how they included hush puppies, this one was my favorite! I was not a big fan of the pickles as they were not pickled enough for me, though this is definitely a matter of personal preference. The brisket too was a little under seasoned for my liking, I prefer more of a bark flavor. All in all, I do not think this place is better than Texas bbq but it is a good representation of NC BBQ!

Yelp
My family ate at the OG Plaza Midwood on our way back home to VA last night. One word comes to mind: AMAZING. We have been fans of Midwood for a long time, but last night took it to a new level. We have always loved the pork ribs and pulled pork (Midwood has my son's favorite), but the Saturday night beef rib special was eye-opening deliciousness. My wife is a 'Pack alum and we are all-around BBQ devotees who have dined at many of the classics (Rodney Scott's, Franklin in Austin, Lewis in SC, Lexington, all over KC, etc.). Any one place being good at both pork and beef is simply tough to do. However, being great in all three areas with a beef rib as good as any TX place, some of the best pork in NC, AND some of the best side dishes (collards, BBQ baked beans, jalapeno poppers, etc.) puts Midwood in truly RARE company. We have never had a bad meal at any Midwood location, the staff are friendly and truly helpful, and the atmosphere is great. Try it and you will like it too!!

Yelp
Had a wonderful meal with the family at Midwood Smokehouse! We walked in without a reservation and did not have to wait long for seating on a Friday night because the place was so big! Lots of tables in the front and back area. There is also a full bar in the middle of the restaurant, and we asked if they could put the NBA finals on which they were able to do for us. The service was great. Very prompt and helpful. Our food came out decently fast and was so delicious, really loved the pulled pork, chicken and hush puppies. I got the ranch water which was good but I think next time I will try the margaritas. Thanks for a great dinner!

Yelp
What a great place in Charlotte to check out. We loved our waitress Savannah. She gave great recommendations and took time to explain the menu which was appreciated. Ribs were fantastic. Cooked so well and none of the meat really needed the bbq sauce we asked for as it all had great flavor. Pickles were so fresh and the acidity was nice when eating all of the meat we got - burnt ends, ribs, brisket, and sausage. Collards were alright but macaroni and cheese was great. Thank you for a great experience.

Yelp
Great southern BBQ. They have a variety of eclectic apps but the reason to go here is for their pulled pork, ribs and delicious brisket. Don't forget the hush puppies with a side of coleslaw. Yummy!!!!
google avatar

Carolyn K.

Yelp
I thought the special 8 hour smoked beef rib was delicious as well as the collard greens, but the pulled pork was ok and I didn't like the acidic pickles, Cole slaw and didn't like their Margherita's very much. Overall a kind of noisy place good for large groups but the quality of food is ok.

Yelp
This was great BBQ. The food and drinks were reasonable priced and portion sizes generous. Everyone was very friendly and I would recommend.

Yelp
Our server was the greatest! The guacamole salad with burnt ends was delicious! The slab of ribs were over cooked (charred) Great atmosphere.

Yelp
Great BBQ! Service was very good and fast. Enjoyed the 4 protein dinner everything was great.

Yelp
We stopped in and got a large brisket plate and half smoked chicken with sides of coleslaw, mac and cheese, broccoli casserole, and collard greens. It was a ton of food for two people and we were so full! Both meats were pretty good; the brisket was a bit fatty. We were disappointed in the mac and cheese, definitely nothing special about it and it could have benefited from a topping. The other sides were all pretty good. Service was quick and super friendly. We had bbq elsewhere when we were in Charlotte, and this was not our favorite stop, so I don't think we'd be back, but this was still a tasty meal.

Yelp
This Midwood Smokehouse location in Charlotte has delicious and flavorful BBQ when you are hungry. Everything is well prepared every time I have been here. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. Cool and laid back environment to eat.

Yelp
This is our go to spot in Plaza Midwood when we're craving nachos! The BBQ nachos are so legit, and the mac and cheese is sinfully delicious. Love the casual vibe of the space, and we've always had such friendly service! Definitely a favorite!

Yelp
First time in Charlotte and came across this joint within delivery range from my hotel. Ordered a large brisket and a pork sandwich and thoroughly loved my meal. Brisket was juicy and perfectly flavored. Enjoyed the broccoli sides as well. Portion was great and even though the sandwich was my backup just in case, I ended up devouring both. Am sure it would be even better in person but am happily stuffed. Only thing was the seasoning of collar green was a bit heavy for me, but maybe that's how the locals like it.

Yelp
Ribs: 5/5 - Really great. Smoky, flavorful, and tender. Probably my favorite in Charlotte so far. Hush Puppies: 4/5 - Pretty standard. Liked how bite size they were. Collard Greens: 4/5 Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage: 3/5 RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Definitely getting this again) 4 - Good (Would get it again) 3 - Ok (Might give it another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)

Yelp
The place is packed, as usual, but we didn't have a wait. Not too bad for a Thursday night. Our waiter, Rodney, was attentive and prompt. We started with the Smokehouse Meatballs. Nice flavor but they needed way more sauce. I ordered my usual, The 2 Step. Ribs FELL OFF THE BONES!!!!!! Tender.... Juicy. My goodness!!!! The brisket he ordered was THE best I've ever tasted. Juicy. Tender and the taste was absolutely amazing!!! The greens were tender and packed a southern flavor that even the pickiest eater at my table enjoyed. Still remains one of my favorite BBQ places EVER!!!

Yelp
This place is fantastic! Best BBQ I've had in NC so far. I usually order the small plate with lean prime beef brisket--absolutely delicious, high quality meat. All the sides are incredible too--I'm not sure if they claim to be making everything from scratch, but it sure does taste like my mama made the mac & cheese. I've also tried the broccoli casserole, bacon wrapped jalapeños, and coleslaw, and I was not disappointed. I'm adding a paragraph specifically about the banana pudding, because it deserves the spotlight. My mother has been making HOMEMADE, FROM SCRATCH banana pudding at family gatherings for years. Needless to say, I know what banana pudding should taste like. This is the only restaurant I want banana pudding from if I don't feel like making my mama's at home. I don't know if they're making it from scratch, but it sure does taste like it. 100/100!!!!! Service at both the Park Rd and Plaza locations has been great! The staff are super friendly and helpful. The interior and restrooms of both locations were clean and tidy! I highly recommend this place for a fabulous meal!

Yelp
This place is slamming. I got the pulled pork plate with hush puppies. For being in an airport at 7pm, it was a lot less busy than bojangles. I wasn't disappointed. The folks working it were extremely nice and welcoming even though I was close to closing time. I was like their last order. Would definitely dine there again The amount of pork was substantial compared to the look in the picture was it was a deep pile. I forgot the order came with hush puppies already and accidentally doh led down the order as a side.

Yelp
Non-Midwood Smokehouse Certainly nothing 'mid' about this smokehouse. Came here for dinner because I needed to get some Carolina BBQ before I left. This place covers quality and quantity. The sampler plate and the 'Pig Out' combo platter w/ Texas Toast were enough to feed our 4 people. The ribs slid off the bone, it was amazing! But my favorite was the fatty brisket and burnt ends from the sampler plate. The fatty brisket was one of the more amazing briskets I've had. Dipped in a bit of BBQ sauce, yum. Next visit Charolette again, I'll be back! Excited to indulge in my leftovers

Yelp
We visited the Central Avenue location 06/2024. PROS: burger & beans were excellent! the greens were good, they had a southern, pork cooked taste, they were good, but not excellent. I also tasted the mac/cheese & brisket... excellent! The service was perfect. We parked in the back, which was kinda limited. CONS: none

Yelp
Great food, Holly took good care of us, and we're here to see the Cowboys play the Panthers tomorrow! Go Cowboys!

Yelp
Absolutely did not expect to be eating great barbecue during our brief layover at Charlotte Douglas. Our party of 7ish was seated in 10 minutes on a busier airport afternoon in a cozy little corner next to the kitchen. Server was great, took drink and food orders in no time and food came out faster than expected. Pork Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries: juicy, vinegary, sweet, salty, you name it, this sandwich had it. Deceptively simple but so delicious, and portion size was great, especially as someone who has had their fair share of depressingly sized pulled pork sandwiches. Cannot recommend this enough. Fries were crispy and sweet and perfect with the barbecue sauce. Great place.

Yelp
I can hands down say that I have never had better BBQ than Midwood Smokehouse. For many years Phils BBQ in San Diego has held that title, but Midwood just swooped in and took that title. Visiting North Carolina, BBQ was a must do on the list. Came to Midwood based on a lucky map search choice and almost left because parking was so difficult. I am extremely happy that I did not give up and gave them a shot. Got there and they were polite but also told us that a party of 9 would be a 15 minute wait. I was a little confused because there were a ton of tables but they said they just had to have time to push some tables together. 15 minutes came and went and they just kept saying a little longer. We were all getting a little frustrated after they said they were putting tables together outside for over 25 minutes just to tell us that they were now putting us inside because a party of 24 was coming and they wanted the outside. I would take off a star for this, but the food and waitress made up for this downfall. Once we got seated, we got to meet our waitress who was so friendly and attentive. I chose the BBQ brisket sandwich and it was amazing. The meat was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. The fries were crispy and everything tasted so good. The prices were also very good for what we got and way better than we expected. I can say hands down out of all the BBQ we had on our trip, Midwood won for the best by a landslide.

Colin W.

Yelp
This place lives up to its ratings. The BBQ was exceptional, brisket was juicy, burnt ends flavorful and saucy, and the broccoli casserole was also surprisingly good. The only thing I left uneaten was the hushpuppies, I'm more of a tater tots kind of guy. Parking is kind of limited, we went late and it was still difficult to get a spot.

Laurie E.

Yelp
I enjoyed good service today. And the smoked turkey was a great addition to my salad. This is a welcome break from the crazy B concourse.

Yelp
The nachos at Midwood are always great, but also recently had the burnt ends and Mac n cheese and yesssss! So good. Service is always friendly and fast. Will be back soon!
google avatar

K N.

Yelp
The food was really good but most things were over salted (beans, meat balls) or under salted (fries, chips, Mac and cheese). It didn't fully live up to the hype I was expecting but I generally enjoyed the food. Service was very slow. Approximately 40 minutes from ordering to on the table but I think maybe they were short staffed that shift. Our server was extremely sweet and helpful! 4 star experience overall
google avatar

Yelp
Love the pimiento cheese bbq fries! Get them every time and never disappointed. Good Mac and cheese and all of the other standard bbq fare. Can't really go wrong, have enjoyed everything we've tried!

Yelp
I hate to write this but probably won't return. I was actually quite excited to try this place considering all the good reviews. I'm visiting from out of state, love bbq and this place has a 4.4 rating. We were sat down right away. We had a table of 7 so that's rare. We were sat outside which was no big deal. Weather was great, wasn't too hot only bad part was the sun blinding 1 side of the table. We had 2 kids and 5 adults. Waiter got to us within 5 mins for our drink order. It took him about 10-15 mins to bring our drinks which consisted of mostly sweet teas. We ordered 2 appetizers, the queso with chorizo and the cornbread, we placed the appetizer order when drinks were dropped off. Appetizers came out very quickly. The queso was honestly really good and flavorful. The cornbread was different. It was nice and soft but taste was off too me. And I LOVE cornbread. Not sure if it was the cheese they mix in or what it was but not a fan of it. I ordered the salad, 2 people ordered the Texas 2 step which consisted of ribs and burnt ends, chicken salad, Mac and cheese (kids), chicken tenders (kids) and another salad. My salad was good. Perfect size portion for 1 person. They had a larger size but it was huge as shown in the pictures below. The Mac and cheese was NOT it. The pasta was hard and cold and that was for everyone that ordered it. Everyone said the toast was good. They bring out 3 different bbq sauces to dip/spread on the meat you order. The meat was fall off the bone. The kids chicken tenders looked burnt so my child was turned off by it and didn't touch them. Our waiter was nice. Came back several times for refills and to check on us. Really have no complaints about him, he gave recommendations and for the most V part on top of it. Something I just randomly noticed that I just think is weird. The table next to us was served by a different person (she was in a yellow dress) but when the table finished and the guests left she came by to the table while it was being cleaned by the busser just to look at what I'm assuming was her tip left. She touched the receipt, looked at the bottom and left it there. So they just care about tips? Never seen that done before. I'm sure my views are different being from out of state but hopefully this is something out of state people will consider.

Yelp
Great service throughout. Nice selection of beers on tap. I was pleased with the Carolina pork and our waiter was very attentive.

Yelp
This is a Charlotte staple and there's a reason -- it's solid southern barbecue. From the sauces to the sides, everything I had was authentic and perfectly cooked. There are platters, sandwiches and their banana pudding is a nonnegotiable. Service is super fast and the atmosphere is divey, which adds to the barbecue's authenticity. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Shay N.

Yelp
I've eaten here multiple times and every time I am really impressed with the food - always so good. I normally get the 1/2 smoked chicken and wow!!! The service is always top notch - would definitely recommend and would argue that Midwood is one of the best bbq places in charlotte!!
google avatar

James J.

Yelp
My favorite ribs i have ever had. All the good is good that my family has had here. The servers here are all more professional and friendly than most restaurants. Fun atmosphere for a bbq joint!
google avatar

Yelp
I am a big fan of the Midwood location in Columbia. I had the opportunity to try one of the Charlotte locations and I was not disappointed. Great service, same great food and a great atmosphere. I really like the decor in the men's bathroom and I'm told the decor in the female bathroom is just as likeable for females

Yelp
First of all, service was amazing! Our waitress was so awesome and friendly. In the picture we have a full slab of ribs, jalapenos poppers, hush puppies, Mac n cheese, house pickles, and some pimento cheese. The ribs were super tender and fall off the bone. Flavor was good and they also have 4 different BBQ sauces. Sides were good, pickles were slightly sweet so not a huge favorite for me but my husband enjoyed them. I am from Cali and have never had pimento cheese, asked the waitress and she brought it with no question. We also got table side guacamole. All of this food plus drinks for $60, steal of a deal and fed 3 of us.
google avatar

Yelp
It was ok. To start protein portions are somewhat small. Chicken was dry so sauce was needed. Brisket was a little over cooked but at had some flavor. Sauces were not groundbreaking in flavor. Sides were enjoyable I would say and the service was good. Received the food fast. Food was also priced well. Overall I think proteins can be cooked better and would probably go elsewhere for good BBQ.

Yelp
Mmmmmm. That was sound I made when I dove into my lunch at Midwood Smokehouse during a business trip to Charlotte. I had heard about North Carolina BBQ but had never had the opportunity to try any...so I went to Yelp for reviews and this place ranked well. And it did not disappoint. I enjoyed a local brew and ordered the smoked pork sandwich which come with slaw...and a side of baked beans and broccoli casserole. Everything was delicious. The pork was super tender and had a nice hint of smokiness..:combined with the vinegar sauce and some house bbq sauce...the flavor was excellent. The mild sweetness of the slaw blended well on the sandwich as well. Both sides were tasty as well...really enjoyed the cheesy broccoli dish. I have visited several bbq spots in Texas and in Kansas City...this place ranks right up there with the best.

Yelp
This place is as good as it gets. My god, the smell hits you as soon as you open the door. The woman working the front desk at my hotel raved about the place so much that I just had to try, and I'm so glad that I did. There's a great rustic feel to the place, and a pretty gnarly beer list, most of which you'll notice right away. I had the three-meat sampler, and it was mouth-watering. Better than the food, if that's even possible, was the service. Rodney was my server and a literal life-saver. When he brought my appetizer, I noticed he put down a mustard sauce (I'm highly allergic to mustard) so I asked him to take it away. Instead he jumped righting action. He ran in the back to talk the kitchen, and then changed my entire order. Apparently their primary barbecue sauce is made with a mustard base, which would've ended in disaster. So he brought me a new menu and walked me through the options that wouldn't have ended in the phrase: "So I went to the ER" So big shout out to Rodney for going above and beyond (seriously pay that man more) Lastly its not overstating things to say: This was the best meal I had my entire stay in Charlotte!!

Yelp
Went in during dinner time which they were busy. Yet, was able to sit by the bar and get service fast which was good because I was starving. Asked waitress what she recommend and she mentioned the Burnt Ends..so I ordered that and it was whoa delicious! You know when you the food hits your mouth and your taste buds go crazy...well it will happen with this..the ambiance was great..they have football games going on the Tvs but not to loud to where you cant have a conversation. Neat place. Will definitely be coming back, next time Im Charlotte

Phil W.

Yelp
Atmosphere was a very nice calm setting. The service was incredible. The manager stopped by our table and asked us how everything went. Our waiter was very polite and friendly. We weren't sure what we wanted and he was more than willing to help us out with different options. The portions of food were more than enough for two people. The beef tips melted in your mouth along with the brisket that was incredible. If you're in the Charlotte area and like bbq, you definitely want to stop at Midwood
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent. Excellent. Excellent! Great selection of craft beer, bartender was super helpful to select a killer meal of burnt ends, broccoli casserole, pickles and hush puppies. The burnt ends were delicious. Broccoli casserole was creamy and tasty. And everything is very reasonably priced. Homerun for some great local BBQ. It was nice the portions were normal person sized so very little wasted.

Yelp
My first time here, traveling for business. Robert greeted me at the door and was my server; he said they're known for their brisket, and LET ME TELL YOU I CAN SEE WHY!! I had the Large Brisket (both Lean and Moist), sides Brunswick Stew (haven't had that either), and Robert suggested Baked Beans. It....was.....all....so....good. I felt like I was Tom Hanks on Castaway and this was my first meal in years! They played good music as well, and benches offered plenty of room for big man. Will definitely put this on my Come Back list for Charlotte.

Yelp
4/19/23 We were in Charlotte for a convention and had time before heading to the airport and the Uber driver told us we had to come here to Midwood. Solid BBQ place and James our server did not disappoint! We ordered the large platter with 4 meat options and comes with 2 sides. We chose 1/2 ribs, combo of fatty and lean brisket, and added 4oz of burnt ends and chose collards and Mac n cheese as the sides. Order the Ribs!!! It was our table favorite! The sides and hush puppies were awesome!!! We finished with banana pudding and it was big enough to share!

Yelp
Midwood smokehouse is probably one of the better bbq places I've been to and was a great stop for lunch while I was up in Charlotte last month. Our waiter was absolutely amazing, the food came out super quickly, and portion sizes were huge! We shared the ribs, brisket, and pulled pork as our main meats and then had Mac n cheese, broccoli casserole, and hush puppies as our sides. My favorites were the Mac n cheese, ribs, and brisket, but everything else tasted good too. There was soooo much food we ended up taking it to go back to the hotel, and even then there was too much food to eat before we had to leave the city lol. If you're in the area, I'd highly recommend getting southern bbq at Midwood smokehouse!
