We are visiting Reno and are so glad that Miguel’s was recommended to us. The food and service were both exceptional and the prices are reasonable. The decor is very authentic with open beam ceilings and wooden tables and it was very clean. I judge Mexican restaurants by their salsa and Miguel’s was fabulous. The tortilla chips were great too. We had the enchiladas verdes, tortilla soup and a taco a la cart. Everything was fresh and delicious. The tortilla soup broth had a roasted tomato/enchilada sauce flavor and was very tasty. It was different than what I’ve had in the past but very good. My daughter loved the enchiladas and the taco was excellent. The margarita was huge and really good — not too sweet. We will definitely come back here when we are in Reno!

I was looking for a Mexican dinner to finish out the weekend, in town for a short time. Miguel's popped up and four of us headed over. Loved the atmosphere, comfortable and bright, the host and servers were very attentive! The peach margarita was wonderful as was my wife's skinny margarita. I had beef and chicken fajitas, really hit the spot. Each one enjoyed their choice of meals. Looking forward to the next visit to Reno!. Thanks Miguel's...!

Google
Absolutely the worst I have ever had. The service was good and the restaurant seemed clean. The Top Shelf margarita was water, the guacamole was fake and the chimichanga was a ton of raw dough with a little filling. I do not recommend.

Google
Was a fantastic place to visit! Extremely lovely staff and the food was exceptional. Prices are affordable and the drinks were on point! I highly recommend going here, the outdoor dinning area is so peaceful.

As someone whos spent a lot of time in Tamualipas, Mexico I can say they've done a great job of keeping it Mexican style food here. Service was fast & friendly! Food was fresh, correct to order, and fast to come out :) Ambience was great they had a good selection of music, it was loud but it's what I consider regular noise level growing up Mexican and decoration was beautiful! Parking lot is small so you might need to park by the road. I'd suggest to add more veggies to the enchiladas but overall great first experience :D

Google
The food was outstanding. Prices were reasonable. Service was a bit lacking; very friendly, but waiting 45 minutes for our meal and 20 minutes for our bill was not acceptable. The tip would have easily been $50.00 for outstanding service, that wasn’t the case. Don’t get me wrong, the food quality made up for it!

Google
Staff was nice and prompt. Brought our drinks, took our order. We ordered the Taco feast for two, a chili relleno, and a tamale. The tacos were really good. More than enough food for 2. The chili relleno was perfect. For the tamale, I'd stay away from these. It was so dry and didn't really have much in it. To be honest I didn't mind too much because the other food was good. Atmosphere was nice, noise level was comfortable.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Was in town because my dad passed away. One of his friends told me this was his favorite Mexican restaurant, so I wanted to give it a try. My bf and I were greeted well at the door and promptly seated. The waitress came over and we told her we needed a few minutes to look at the menu. She brought me water with lemon and gave us some space to peruse the menu. About 15 minutes later I realized the lady who walked in just before we did had been served her food. Ten minutes after that, I noticed the gentleman who came in after we did had his food. And the waitress still hadn't come back to take our order. She looked at us and smiled as she was clearing the plates of the lady who came in before us. Five minutes after that we just got up and walked out. It's not like they were busy, there were only four customers in the restaurant, including my bf and I.

Yelp
Sat at the bar every time i went. Good people. Good drinks. Tasty food. Had tacos one night and enchiladas another night. If I lived in the area I could see Miguel's being one of my go to regular spots.

Yelp
Steak fajitas are dry and have no flavor. I can tell that the meat is premade and sitting...gross! The shredded lettuce is soaking in water which makes it not as crunchy. Large plate with very little beans and rice on it but they spread it a bunch just to make it look like it's a lot. The fajitas is not the original recipe nor efforts. They used to be tender cuts of steak, freshly roasted or sautéed bell peppers/onions. The bell peppers/onions are soggy and yucky. The owners that took over a while ago slowly diminished the quality of food on the menu. This was always my favorite place and now I just go for the salsa and much isn't the same either but not totally ruined yet. Been a while and instantly regretted it when the fajitas arrived at the table. Attached is a photo of my review on the Reno Foodies Facebook page when they polled the members about where to find good fajitas. Miguel's cuts corners to save time and uses cheap meat to increase profits.

Yelp
Okay! Me and my friends who were visiting from out of town were here briefly but they really wanted me to leave a review and hopefully the servers see this. The service was incredibly patient, kind and loving. My god child who is a little baby was having a slight meltdown, then mommy had to go out and take care of him. Which at the moment the servers did their best to make sure her food was kept warm, was attentive to me and her husband who weren't sure if we were staying or leaving. When we had to go they were kind enough to package her food and made sure we were okay. They did get to eat the food later which they loved and hope to come back. I live nearby so I am definitely coming by to take pictures and eat here again. The ambiance even if it was brief was lovely, felt like I was home with family and enjoyed the decor. Hope to see yall real soon!

Yelp
Very nice place. Loud business meeting at next table. Why do people do this? Otherwise, lively family eating spot with delish food. Gracious servers. Clean and festive . This restaurant has been here since 1951.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was okay.. they would have gotten more money had the server been a little more attentive instead of just rushing off. No time to order marks. Food was delicious.. ambience was good

Yelp
Came here first thing after arriving in town. It was a Wednesday so it was closing at 8:30pm. The service was fast and there are a ton of combinations. We tried various things including enchiladas, chimichanga and tostada. Not the best food I've ever had but it hit the spot and tasted like I would expect. We also had margaritas and those hit the spot. Check it out if you're in town!

Yelp
It has been one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in Reno for years. The price has always been reasonable given their location. However, I will not return. They have stopped offering unlimited chips and salsa. We had two small, complementary baskets of chips. We asked for a third and were told it would cost $5. You might argue, "They can't give away unlimited chips and salsa or they lose money." Chips and salsa are very cheap. Additionally, many don't even finish their first basket. For me, the unlimited chips and salsa is the reason why I'd consider going to a Mexican restaurant as opposed to a taco truck or Mexican take out location. Without this incentive, I won't return to a Miguel's establishment.

Yelp
Have been coming here for years. Every time we are in Reno, that is our first stop. Well, this will be the last. Ordered chorizo and beans as an appetizer, all beans little meat. Cold. Opted for the albondiga soup....tasted like caned tomatoes soup. Mom had menudo and stated it was fine. Overall, everything was canned. Not like it use to be. Pretty disappointed. Now, skinny margaritas were good! So 1 point for that! Will not be back!

Yelp
I love the authentic flavors mixed with the atmosphere. You feel our one is the family eating here. I had a veggie burrito and a margarita food was on point with the drinks! This is one of my friend's and my favorite spots for girls night out. Very reasonable on pricing especially for the amount of food you get. Service was outstanding and I enjoyed every moment.
google avatar

Yelp
Really authentic Mexican food in a very pleasing environment. The staff is efficient and friendly. I love their chips and salsa. Try them you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
We used to go here all the time. But when they built the one at the Summit Mall we started going there. We did not care for the restaurant at the mall so we came back here for lunch. As usual it is busy and that means good food. It is a much smaller place but it has a cozy feeling. Years ago, I remember waiting in line for a chance to get in for dinner. Their burritos are big (my friend had that plate) and I had the taco salad. Both were good. We always look forward to the chips and salsa and we have to ask for more salsa. The problem is filling up on those before the meal comes. This food seems to compare to Mexico food down on the border. It does not have the American twist nor the Southwest twist. Sometimes you just got to have the original Mexican meal. We will be back.

Yelp
Visiting Reno from the San Francisco Bay Area and the family of 9 all wanted Mexican food. Miguel`s Mexican Food restaurant showed up on our GPS. We all decided to go there for lunch on Tuesday around 3pm. Free parking was available in the back. The dinning area was spacious and clean. Love the decors of the dinning spaces. Our Waitress was very professional and kind. We only waited for couple of minutes to be seated. Ordering from the menu was easy. The burrito was a good size and very tasty in comparison to many Mexican food in the Bay Area. The hot sauce was perfectly hot. Taco salad was a good size along with the Crispy taco`s. Steak was tender and tasty. Overall food was excellent. We didn't order any alcohol drinks. The price for what we ordered was fine. The serving size was plentiful. We would definitely recommend to others and return in the future.

Yelp
Super cute Spot! The decor makes me feel like I'm in San Miguel de Allende. The waitresses are super attentive and the wait for the food is about 15 minutes. The food was actually less expensive than I expected for such a cute place. They serve delicious salsa and chip while we waited. I ordered a shrimp cocktail and my husband ordered 3 enchilada combo with rice and beans. The shrimp cocktail was so good! Came with plenty of shrimp too! My husband loved his enchiladas, he got a cheese, chicken and beef with the beef being his least favorite. The rice and beans were really good too. Definitely coming back here bc of the great first experience

Yelp
I feel like Miguel's is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants here in Reno. They start you off with chips and salsa and my friends and I loved the salsa. We got 2 refills! I got the chicken fajitas and they were so good! The portion size was filling for the price. They did seem to be very busy when we went but everyone was very nice inside. They also have outdoor seating which is nice! Be sure to have your whole party there when you arrive or you'll have to wait until everyone in party shows up and then you can be seated. My fiancé had the blended strawberry margarita and he says it's the best he's ever had! I forgot to take a picture of it though.

Yelp
Saturday night was a busy night but fortunately we got seated right away. Service was excellent; our server was very friendly, fasts and attentive. You will get free tortilla chips when you got seated. We ordered appetizer ceviche and it was delicious. Menudo soup is a bit bland IMO but it has so much food. I had Lengua En Salsa and it was so tender and everything was so well seasoned. My friend had the Combo with tamale and tacos. She said everything was good except for the tacos. Food portions was good for the price. I saw lot of people ordered the 15oz drink.. looked so tempting but maybe next time when I'm not driving definitely will be back to try other stuff in their big menu. I love the atmosphere; it was busy but not chaotic, great place for everyone. Can't wait for the outdoor seats open when the weather gets warmer. It would look so cuter

Gerard F.

Yelp
My god, okay, first of all, the amount of people they have here is INSANE!! And their seats is also padded, but is kinda old, but hey! It's good! And I can't WAIT to tell you this. You need to try out their quesadillas, absolutely amazing. And order a sprite on it, now i may be stupid, but trust, it's good! 10 out of 10

Yelp
We had a good experience here. It was our waitress' first day and she did a wonderful job! The place was busy for a Tuesday night but we were still able to grab a table. The menu is extensive and it was hard to choose. Honorable mentions include the mole enchiladas, taco salad, and the #1. Their guava margaritas are out of this world and I will definitely be coming back to drink them on their cute patio when weather gets warmer!
google avatar

Jordan F.

Yelp
Have visited this restaurant MANY times!! This location is smaller, so If you visit around busy times, expect a little wait time. Of course, the margaritas with complimentary chips and salsa are a must have!!! Ordered the fish tacos - they weren't fried which was surprising. Great taste, and a lot of choices on the menu for everyone to find something they like!
google avatar

Yelp
Oh boy! Yum. I didn't know Miguel's existed. Very happy it was suggested by the person in our party. Loved the set up. We sat in the back room. It was super cozy. But we didn't feel removed from the fiesta. Music was piped in and it contributed to our good time. The margaritas were muy grande y muy fuerte. My tres enchiladas were very filling and tasty. I ordered one of each suggested. Chips and salsa were flowing freely. How cute is it that they refill your salsa from a small pitcher?! The shrimp burrito was a small disappointment as it seemed to be lacking Cameron. Our server was very nice. When we left we noticed the bar area a level above and an outdoor seating area that would be fun on warm evenings. Look forward to returning.

Yelp
Miguel's Mexican Food has a lovely authentic atmosphere. Warm chips and with salsa and a nice menu. A good plate of food. Service could have been a bit more attentive. Chips did not get refilled for a long while. A side from that, good food, great atmosphere and a lovely lunch with my daughter. Best horchata ever. Julie A

Yelp
Old time Reno Mexican spot, with multi levels and steps everywhere. Disabled access only by phoning in advance and having your party seated in small and only accessible area. Then on arrival must call to get the unmarked (white) door at the back unlocked. Whew! Once that is accomplished the food is delish! Ambiance fun and traditional! Wait staff friendly and efficient. Not my favorite chips or margaritas around town but I do love their cheese and onion enchiladas and the special sauce on them. Melted cheese over the entire plate, yummm!
google avatar

Tracy C.

Yelp
This is my FAVORITE Mexican restaurant. I unfortunately don't have a picture, but trust that the food is always outstanding! I often get the small plate chimichanga. It's plenty of good without taking a to go box. If you're into a big meal, they have standard plates with larger portions. I always feel like the atmosphere is authentic. You feel like you're on vacation when you go in there. The service is always good, friendly and prompt. Be prepared on the weekend for a possible wait... they have made a name for themselves, rightfully so! It's also got some outdoor seating in the warm weather months that I highly recommend! Go ahead and just enjoy the overall experience!

Sou L.

Yelp
Service was good. Ordered steak and shrimp fajita, Quesadilla & tres enchiladas very bland. Salsa tastes like it came from a can.
google avatar

Marilyn B.

Yelp
Miguel's is one of our favorite Mexican restaurant. The staff is always so friendly and cheerful. I ordered a steak burrito and it was very delicious and huge! You can't forget about the margaritas!! We ordered the Big Mama Margarita and it was big enough for two people. This place is perfect for date night!
google avatar

Yelp
We love eating at Miguel's it is the best Mexican food in town we come here every other week GREAT SERVICE thank you so much we will be back try the quesadillas
google avatar

Yelp
It was a brisk Tuesday and I was craving Mexican food. Due to the cold I wanted to stay close to the house and keep it local so we decided on Miguel's. Being that it was Tuesday and Tuesdays are symbolic of tacos, I decided on the enchilada and chili relleno and he decided to get the taco salad... naturally! I loved the sauce on my relleno, dare I say more than the enchilada sauce. Logically to warm up I had to have a Strawberry Margarita- also very good! Portions were large, dining room was inviting, I even had leftovers. Who knew I had such great Mexican food so close to home. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Janet M.

Yelp
Excellent atmosphere, yummy food and prompt curteous service. I had taquitos with extra guacamole. So darn good. Portions were large enough to have for lunch the next day. Excellent all around.
google avatar

Daniel M.

Yelp
Early dinner at Miguel's was perfect with their small plates and cold drinks! My shrimp taco was delicious with rice and beans. We ordered a small guac which was perfect size for just the two of us. This midtown location has some cool patio seating on a hot day and ample room to catch a knights game.

Yelp
Miguel's is our go to place for Mexican. We have been going there for about 12 yrs. We love the guacamole and chips. The service is attentive and the servers are very friendly. The food is always hot when it comes out. They have started serving outside which is nice too.
google avatar

Sharon K.

Yelp
I wish I could remember when it changed, or maybe my older memories are just golden ... but we've loved Miguel's as our favorite place for decades. The flavors are basically still good. But let's talk cheese. Somewhere along the line they started using mozzarella. We ordered the queso fundido. It was hard as a rock. Queso should be something you can dip a chip into and have it come out covered in liquid deliciousness. We had to cut it with a knife. My husband ordered a cheese enchilada. He ended up with a mouthful of unchewable cheese blob that he eventually had to spit out. Next on the hit list - fried ice cream. This, in my experience, has always been a marvel of ice cream encased in a delicious coating and fried. Like magic. The other night we received a scoop of ice cream sitting inside an open fried tostada shell (albeit sprinkled with cinnamon sugar). It's these little things that are overshadowing so much that we're finding just as good food with more of a "eatable" and familiar experience at other restaurants.

Yelp
Complimentary chips and salsa when you dine in. The chips and salsa here are to die for ! Miguel's is warm and welcoming. It feels like going to eat my abuelas house. The staff is so sweet and attentive. The menu is limited but food and drinks are consistent and delicious !
google avatar

Regia S.

Yelp
My husband and I come here every time we're in Reno. Very good authentic Mexican food. The atmosphere inside reminds me of restaurants we visited in Mexico. The staff members are friendly and were happy to describe menu items that we weren't too sure about. The bar did not disappoint when they made our margaritas!! Enchiladas with green sauce: delicious. My husband and I shared the plate because we knew the portion would be just enough to share. Beans and rice: as good as expected :-) Chicken quesadilla: great! Not greasy at all, and the chicken was seasoned well. Churro things: the dip really set it off (in a good way). They are served warm and they were so soft, but crunchy on the outside. The cinnamon to sugar ratio was perfect! Can't wait to come back when we're in Reno again!

Yelp
My wife and I love this restaurant! The service is amazing and the ambiance is that of most Mexican restaurants but well lit and easy to have a conversation as the music is at a perfect level you can talk over. As for the food, I've never had a bad dish here. My wife loves the Chimichanga. I have no favorite yet but you can't go wrong with any of the burritos. I love to order them wet. Big servings leaves a snack for tomorrow!

Yelp
Every time I come into Reno, I look forward to eating here. The service is great, the prices are great, and the food is delicious. 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
Miguel's is one of the most solid Mexican restaurants you'll find in Reno! I've gone here multiple times since moving to Reno and each time it has never disappointed. Their service is always top notch not to mention the entire staff is super friendly. All of their food portions are huge so come with an appetite, and more importantly their prices are really reasonable. I have tried the tortilla soup, amazing, wet burrito, FIRE, get the carnitas, Enchiladas very good and their chimichanga burrito as well which was super good as well. So if you're looking for a nice sit down Mexican restaurant with very good food, a great staff and delicious margaritas look no further than Miguel's! And don't forget to check out my Instagram page for more food recommendations and pictures!

Yelp
CONGRATULATION MIGUEL'S!!! In the Reno News & Review (Sept 24 issue), I read that Miguel's is rated the best food and Margarita's. I have to say I've been going to this place for 20+ years, (Virginia St location.) One of my top 3 places to eat, drink, and be merry. Addie, Elmer, and the staff are wonderful. I'm a big fan of the enchilada/burrito. Being a picky eater, they make it just how I like it. I have never had a bad experience. I wish I could go more often. I had family from out of state visit and we went to the newer Miguel's at the Summit Mall for the first time. The staff was great, the food great, the ambiance was great, and the price was reasonable. I love the fact that it's family-owned and operated. Addie, Elmer, and staff Keep up the great work!

The food is good and prices are fair Service can be better

Yelp
So fire!!! I always get the chili verde and margaritas service is always so great love this place.

Yelp
I love Miguel's. I have loved Miguel's since I was a teen. There's nothing quite like sitting by the window, munching on chips and guacamole, and watching the world go by. What you'll find on the menu is pretty typical. Tostadas, enchiladas, tacos...the usual. Everything tastes fresh and delicious and I've never had a meal that I didn't like. The service is friendly and there's a little bar you can sit at while you wait for your table. Parking can be a challenge sometimes but it's worth it to eat at this location. It's a matter of time before I'm back. Yum!
google avatar

Deb P.

Yelp
The fish tacos are very tasty. The ambiance is just right (not a fast food, nor classy). I'm from San Diego CA, and grew up with AUTHENTIC Mexican food. This doesn't quite compare, but it's close, and so far, the best I e visited in Reno.

Yelp
We wanted Mexican food we went to McGill' for dinner. The place was packed. It was loud. The food was just terrible. The only thing that they had was the beer. Pardon my spelling on Miguel's. Would I recommend a place? I definitely would not. They served a bunch of beans sloppy some rice under the rest of the entrée look like it was just throat on the plate stay away from the place.

Randy R.

Yelp
Food is decent but service sucks!! A bunch of open tables yet they would not seat us until one more person showed up. Last time we will come here!!!!
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
This is up to par with most Mexican places I've tried around town. The service is absolutely 5 star, you will never wait for more salsa or a chips refill. They came and sang for my friend's mom's birthday which was very sweet. The food is fine, but nothing really stands out. The beans are good, the Chile relleno not bad. Everything was completely covered in cheese. The chips are good, the salsa just okay, it lacks any spice. The atmosphere is nice, they have cute decor and comfortable tables. I would definitely go back for the service and the food is totally acceptable, yet nothing really stood out as amazing!
google avatar

Joe V.

Yelp
Miguel's has some of the best chips and salsa in town! Dangerously good! Wifey and I usually get the fajitas, this is our go to meal here. Today she had the chicken and I had the steak. Parking can be a pain if you go during peak hours. This place can get busy.
google avatar

Yelp
I love Mexican food and wanted to try Miguel's out. We were in the area, so we stopped by. The place is nice and has a grand fiesta feel to it. They have a small bar area and several seating spots. The girls were friendly and brought some chips and salsa over to the table. The chips were fresh, and the salsa was okay. We ordered ground beef, a chicken taco plate, and a taquitos plate. The food looked good, but it lacked texture and taste. The ground beef enchilada and rice seemed like they had been cooked, reheated, and then reheated again. The rice was hard, and I don't mean undercooked. It had overcooked and reheated, then sat under the heat lamp hard texture. It was the same for the ground beef enchilada. The chicken taco was edible but flavorless. My daughter's taquitos were pan-fried and not deep fire, so one side was burnt but crispy, and the other was soft and oily. The flavor was lacking as well. Truly disappointing. I wanted to like this spot. I might give it another try on the weekend or just at night; maybe the food would be fresh then, but who knows?

Yelp
About the 3rd -4th time we have been here. It's still the most amazing food I have ever had. Strawberry margaritas are on point. We had the tortilla soup and Chile verde, rice and beans, my husband had a combo and my kids quesadilla and rice and the rice is to die for. I wish my rice would come out like that! Amazing fast easy even thru the dinner rush. Waters and chips and delicious salsa brought out and food out quick! One of our favorite places to eat ever! Still amazing every time!
