Our travel agent was a bit dismissive of our decision to spend 3 nights here, as normally they recommend stopping at Lake Mburo only as a staging post to Bwindi; they're really doing their clients a disservice because it's absolutely wonderful - particularly the lodge but also the park itself.||Our accommodation was lovely, with views to Lake Kacheera. Rooms on the other side of the escarpment overlook a watering hole teeming with wildlife; as do the common areas and pool. All rooms have some steps to them but access is easier to some than others - for example Kings room is quite close to the main lodge but is accessed via a series of uneven rocks and steps which I found difficult due to balance issues, but Lake Kacheera room was a little further from the lodge via a short sloping rock and smaller even steps which I had no problem with.||Plenty of places to sit in comfort and do nothing but watch the wildlife with a glass of something chilled in your hand; equally lots of activities are on offer.||The food was insanely good; really imaginative menus with veg and non-veg choices, well-cooked and beautifully presented - it kind of spoilt us for every other lodge we stayed at! Service was amazing; attentive and friendly. ||I loved the park. The birding and wildlife was excellent, particularly as it could be enjoyed on foot (accompanied by an armed ranger) getting closer than I ever imagined to giraffe and zebra. Night drives were very good - we saw leopard on each occasion.||tl:dr Spoil yourself, stay 3 nights, it's fabulous!
