Where to Stay in Paris (Updated 2025)

"I liked that MIJE Marais is a unique budget option made from three renovated 17th-century buildings (Fourcy, Fauconnier, Maubuisson); the rooms are pretty basic—the beds aren’t super comfy and there are no curtains—but you get free breakfast, free Wi‑Fi, a beautiful outdoor courtyard, and an unbeatable location." - Matthew Kepnes

I stayed for two nights over the weekend. After reading reviews on Booking.com, I decided to book a bed at this hostel, and overall my experience was very satisfactory. The mattress was firm and comfortable, and the room felt cozy with a functional heater. Cleanliness was acceptable, no unpleasant odors, and the floor was clean. The toilet area was fine as well. Although the space is slightly small, having a separate WC is a good idea as it helps keep any smells away from the main room. I really enjoyed the breakfast. It’s simple, but filling enough to keep you going until late lunch. The staff were very helpful and approachable. Special thanks to the night staff who assisted me with a key issue early in the morning, I truly appreciated that. For future improvements, it might be worth considering adding a lift from the ground floor to make the hostel more accessible, especially for guests with limited mobility or heavy luggage. Overall, if you’re planning a short stay, I can confidently recommend this hostel 100%! The location was bang!!

I’ve stayed for 3 nights. Everything was amazing. Location is great (2 metro stations in 3 minutes, close to Notre Dame (about 10 minutes of walking if you go fast), 1 station away from Chatelet metro station where you can change to most of the lines, grocery shop in 3 minutes also), it’s literally one of the most comfortable places you could rent in Paris. Rooms are clean, no bad smells, beds are soft and etc. Bathroom maybe is a bit old but still clean and comfy. The design of the building is really something, it’s an old Paris from movies… Employees are very friendly and ready to help. I literally can’t say anything bad about the hostel. Breakfast includes cornflakes with milk, cakes, bread, butter, juice, coffee, jam, honey. If I’m back to Paris, I will stay there again

I have the worst opinion of this hostel. Lets start with the rooms: There were almost no outlets to charge your phone or laptop, there is no secure place in the room to put your stuff, so pretty much you have to trust the 7 other roomates which you clearly dont know. They dont give you a towel, the shower doors dont have a lock, so anyone can come in while you shower, there is only one bathroom for 7 people in the room, you cant close the curtains, so the light enters early, there are no hotel activities, and finally, the breakfast is really bad, reaaally bad. I had to checkout the next day. Being there really screwed that one vacation day and night. Now the neighborhood, I now Le Marais is a good place, but the street where the hotel is has really bad lightning, pretty dark and there are homeless people walking around, you feel unsafe.

Overall our stay here was fine. However for the cost, could have been better. This was the most expensive hostel we stayed at but the cheaper ones were much better and much more accommodating. Since there’s no ac and they don’t provide fans, we had to buy our own which helped. The staff weren’t very friendly or helpful. The outlets in our room didn’t work and neither did the wifi. No towels provided so you needed to pay. The policy is you have to be out of the rooms from 12-3 every day so they can clean. The cleaning ladies tried to get into our room every day at around 11:15 which is not the time they stated.

The location itself is strategic, close to bus stop and metro, and surrounded with restaurants and supermarkets. But 2 big problems would be the wifi coverage at room and the plug site at the room. U hardly connect wifi in room, so end up to go the common area for the wifi. The plug at room is far from the bed area, hard to take care of our belongings.

I took a group of university students for a film-centered study trip to France in early May 2025. I stayed there myself, as well. The location is absolutely unbeatable and seems quite safe. Our university has used this hostel almost every year for more than a decade. I find the personnel to be very nice. The only drawbacks would be lack of AC if in the middle of a summer heatwave (early May is lovely, no problem) and a few non-working outlets in the rooms. It's a charming building and has an elevator for accessibility. Like any hostel, there are groups of students who can be a little noisy, including my own students, no doubt, but the staff will help if it gets too loud after 10 pm. The WiFi was somewhat problematic -- easy to join but dropped the connection often. I'd love to see them address that as it happened to everyone in the group and to other groups that have come from our university. All in all, it's perfect for an affordable group trip. I'm a huge fan of this place!

This hostel is pricier than others, while the location is great they lack to provide the bare minimum. There’s no WiFi, only one charging socket and the ones by the bed don’t work. And on top of it, you cannot access your room 12-3pm everyday. I was sick and needed things from my room and I wasn’t allowed to do that nor do they have their own first aid or anything to help you. Quite disheartened with the quality of stay.

I stayed at Mije rue des Fauconnier, 3 nights.|I had a fantastic stay . Receptionist Fatima was extremely helpful, friendly and professional as well as the night receptionist ( Senta ? Centime ?). Free breakfast in the morning was good to had. Building is dating back to 13th or 15th century and you are very close to the Seine and Notre Dame. To me it is the best value for money proposition you can get in Paris. Go for it !

Yelp
First of all, location, location, location, right in the heart of Paris and short walk to all the major sightseeing - Notre Dame, Picasso Museum, Isle de la Cite, Seine. Great place to stay if you are on budget, and in Paris for the first time. It truly helps the experience tremendously. The metro is literally a block down, AND it's the line you need to get to the Louvre. What else do you need? We had a private double room (a bunk) facing the courtyard, shower/sink in the room, bathroom next door - somewhat strange, but it's a hostel, so I don't have high expectations. There's a also a room with paid lockers to store you stuff as well if you end up sharing with a few people A couple things that take away a star, not everyone can stay here because there's an age limit, and there's also a curfew (1am). Otherwise, no better place to stay cheap and close to all the action. Book waaaay in advance (winter/fall) if you want to stay here in the spring/summer. Mije is a gem, and all who stayed there know it!

Yelp
Staying at Mije Hostel has been rad! I won't repeat what others have already noted: the location is truly excellent; the rooms are simple but pleasant, the price is good, etc. The front desk attendant gives you a sheet of coupons that include discounts at restaurants in the Marais neighborhood (which has a great vibe, btw), and half-off boat tours! I think I brought a lot of my American prejudices to the breakfast experience. It's a very simple affair w/ coffee, juice, a pastry, and a segment of baguette, rather than the giant pancakes-and-sausage affair I'm used to. Also, when they say breakfast is from 7am-10am, they really mean it! 10am is not some kind of "last seated" time--they really expect you to be done and out of there by 10. We sauntered in at 9:57a and had to really wolf it down before they closed. Again, probably my own misapprehension.

Yelp
My 5 star rating doesn't mean this place is the Ritz. It's a hostel. I've stayed in many hostels throughout the world and nothing I've experienced as far as hostels are concerned compares to it. My philosophy is that I prefer to spend my money outside of the place I'm using just to sleep and shower. As long as it's clean and in a decent neighborhood, I'm fine. Mije is clean, well run and centrally located. Mije is on the western end of the Marais a block from Rivoli and the Saint-Paul metro stop (line 1) which can connect you to the rest of Paris fairly easily. In a 30 minute walk, you can reach most of the well known sightseeing spots: Bastille, Notre Dame, Latin Quarter, Saint-Germain, Pont des Arts, etc. I first found this place in the 1980s. Booking was really not an issue back then but because of the internet, this place has become well known and you need to book months in advance if you plan to visit from April - September. Like all hostels, there is a curfew (1am). Though it is a youth hostel, there is no age restriction for adults. Those traveling with children under 6yrs will not be able to stay here. Some rooms have benches oddly placed next to the door. Be careful when exiting to avoid bruising your shin or knee. There is a restaurant onsite but since you're in Paris and you're saving a lot just by staying here, I suggest that you explore the city for plethora of amazing restaurants.
