Just back from 3 nights here and we can’t speak highly enough of the experience. From the rooms to the food, to the private onsens and the fabulous yakata… all were absolutely top class. But what made it for us was the staff - they were all fantastic and couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly! Thank you all very much - you are a credit to you nation, your culture and your ryoken!

First Ryokan experience and it’s magnificent. Staff are all extremely polite and the attention to details is phenomenal. The ryokan is located 2 mins from the station which is perfect because you would’nt want to be dragging your suitcase down the whole town. There’s 4 private onsen within the ryokan which is handy because I’m too embarrass to go public onsen. Pick a good time to visit Kinosaki because we were there around Oct 14 and it’s their festive time, most of the shops were closed hence extremely limited food options too.

Located in the very touristic (but relaxed) village Kinosaki Onsen, Mikuniya is an island of tranquility. where the staff have every detail handled. On check-in they prepare you for the public baths for which Kinosaki is known, providing guests a pass for entry to all local public baths and the traditional clothing. When you're done with the public baths, Mikuniya provides private baths. Dinner was a 13-course kinseki menu served en suite. Arguably the best meal we had in Japan. The room was large, elegant, comfortable, and quiet.

The Ryokan experience at Mikuniya was phenomenal! Our group stayed there for 3 nights in the Omoto Suite. Every day we were served an absolutely delicious breakfast and dinner, and the staff was very helpful and kind. The private onsens available at Mikuniya were also amazing! I would highly recommend the same experience to anyone looking to stay at a Ryokan in Kinosaki.

Loved this traditional Japanese ryoken experience. We stayed in two ryoken stays in Kinosaki and this was the clear favourite. The yakuta they provided to us during our stay was really beautiful and comfortable. They have multiple private onsens which are free to use - and also provide ice lollies as refreshment after the onsen. The rooms were cozy and all amenities were provided. Location was another big plus - a 2-3 minute walk to the Kinosaki railway station which was very convenient for us as we had an early morning train at 7 am. We booked only the room and did not try their kaiseki dinner and breakfast. Would definitely recommend this place

Cannot say enough good things about this location. We had high expectations before coming and they were exceeded. All of our careful caveats and concerns were a non issue. |They were happy to hold luggage when we arrived before check in and actually brought it to our room for us. They confirmed our meals for the nights we were staying and when we had an issue (I don’t eat beef) they were able to quickly arrange for a sashimi feast instead. |They had a multitude of sizes for the yukatas and ube (also both men and women get yukata! Women also get a colourful haori in cold months but both get yukata and tanzen). If you are larger chested I recommend bringing or purchasing a clip to hold the top closed though. |The meals were amazing!!!! The crab dinner the first night was our favourite of the trip. The breakfasts were so nourishing and special. They have a table set up for you in the breakfast room with everything set out so make sure you go. |There was always a private Onsen available while we were there and they have little ice pops for when you finish. |I just cannot say enough good things. It was the highlight of our trip and if anything we wish we’d stayed longer. |Book here!!!

We stayed here on the last day of our trip and it was so worth the wait. We only had a night here and opted to just use the private onsens that the accomodation offered as we loved them so much. Attention to detail and service was great. The staff were so accomodating and it was the perfect way to relax before our flight home.

We had a wonderful stay at this little ryokan. Staff were wonderful, the room was spacious with tatami may floors and futon for sleeping ( as I realized I am more partial to a bed but that's on me), breakfast was intricately prepared (we did not have dinner here) and we really enjoyed the private onsens which we used 3 times during our stay in addition to heading out into the public onsen. Hotel is less than 5 min walk from the station. This is a great and quiet little town away from the masses in Kyoto or Osaka. I feel refreshed.
