"Single Origin Coffee Near the Opera House Über restaurateur Michel Péclard made waves in Zurich when he took over the iconic Café Schober in the Niederdorf a few years ago. In 2012, Péclard set his eyes on another classic establishment, Milchbar, which had sat tucked away in a quiet square off of Paradeplatz for over three decades. Now in its new incarnation near the Zurich Opera House, the café is as alluring as ever with Edison bulbs hung from the ceiling, long wooden communal tables, single origin coffee and super smooth espresso made with an exclusive blend by Fresh Coffee in Rüschlikon."

The service was good. The food was good. The atmosphere was good. We didn't wait for a table outside. The waiters were approachable and nice. There are plenty of options on the menu for every dietary preference or requirement. The black coffee was delicious. You might wanna avoid peak hours or make a reservation book before visiting. Overall, this experience was positive. Opening this restaurant/ cafe on Sunday is a very smart decision.

A very chilly and cozy place for eating and drinking, in the very city centre but just off the crowd. You sit in a small square with a fountain and sip a very good coffee and cake, or eat a bagel. Try the cheesecake with passion fruit. The service is very friendly and attentive. I strongly recommend.

Great atmosphere. But as a home barista, i find the cappuccino too hot, even after asking 2nd time. I believe the owner needs to consider a short training for their barista. Otherwise all good.

What a beautiful café! A peaceful retreat just off the main street, with a stunning fountain and amazing greenery. The staff was incredibly welcoming, and the coffee was delicious. Truly a hidden gem.

On a cool spring morning our brunch was such a treat. Perfect pancakes, creamy Cappucinos and a delicious deli platter served by friendly and attentive staff. Love the calm court yard away from a busy market and traffic.

Google
A cute spot inside the city. A bit hidden away. There is a beautiful courtyard with trees and flowers in front of the restaurant. For today just had a coffee, which was ok, not the best coffee. The staff was a bit too preoccupied, although still friendly.

Yelp
Milchbar has a very nice location right in the heart of Zurich; it's especially enjoyable in the summer. It can be found nestled (almost hidden) in a courtyard next to Paradeplatz, it's could be a veritable oasis. The concept is great, there's a small menu with some daily specials and a few regular dishes. Besides the food they have special coffee blends and excellent drinks. Unfortunately the quality of both the service and the food is neither good nor consistent. Hopefully they'll improve things eventually, but for now three stars is the best they deserve.

Yelp
Great location. Drinks were great! Food was fabulous and comes from a restaurant right there too. Beautiful concealed courtyard with a fountain in the middle. Nice relaxing place!

Yelp
I only came here for a cocktail and to take a quick break from running around the city so this review is based solely on the cocktail and the service. I was drawn to the beautiful patio area with the gorgeous fountain (and views of the Gucci store). There were only two tables being occupied outdoors but the waitress still made sure to spend just as much time attending to us as the diners indoors. The drink was refreshing (as sometimes you can get a bitter aperol spritz) and although I did not have any, the food did look good.

Yelp
Good coffee, fine service. Legit cappuccino's with decent assortment of pastries. Good location if not a bit hidden. Brunch buffet looked deese.

Yelp
Stopped by here for a light lunch and some white wine spritzer. The "cafe" is location in a courtyard which is quite nice; it's simple and quaint. There salads are quite expensive in my opinion but I have to say the dressing was lovely and the all the salads looked very tasty I paid about CHF 17 for my salad in the picture. The service was friendly. I want to say I will go back there but if I'm just going to order a salad I don't want to have to pay over 25 franks for that. The view is also not that worth it for the price however it's hidden which is appealing for most people and If you don't mind spending that amount on some nice fresh salads ( that are tasty) this is the place to go :) maybe I need to try another dish next time I go here. I am just convinced I can find a better bang for my buck

Yelp
This cafe is located in a hidden backyard with a view of a beautiful fountain. Just sitting there, watching the water jump and listening to its bubbly sounds makes me happy everytime. In summer there are always colourful flowers planted and the pocket size park is well kept. Hard to imagine you are actually sitting next to Bahnhofstrasse. The cappuccino I recently had was OK. It didn't make me crave for more but neither did it make me cringe. But last time I didn't go there for the relaxing atmosphere or because of the cappuccino anyways. I was on a mission. I went there because of a baguette. It is actually called THE baguette of the hour. The thing of the bready things. It's a baguette with a title. THE baguette by Seri Wada. A finance guy who gave up his career to bring real handmade Parisian baguette to the people of Zurich. It has this silky smooth tartness I remembered from childhood vacations in France that is so typical for French baguette. Unfortunately I ate the baguette a bit late. I should have tried it right away in the morning. So I can't judge the texture which is so, so, so important when it comes to baguette. But thats ok. I'll go again to buy another one because I'm always happy to go back to this courtyard.

Yelp
Super cute coffee and restaurant hidden behind Bahnhofstrasse. Just had lunch there and the staff was awesome! I asked if I could mix and match a menu and they said no problem:)

Yelp
The Milchbar is a concept by Michel Péclard who is the creator of many new places in Zurich. This review is about the Milchbar at the Kappelergasse near Paradeplatz and NOT about the sister restaurant in the Bellevue area. Here, the team is great: The chef de service is very friendly, organizes a free table even if it is not easy and always makes you feel a wanted guest. The atmosphere in the restaurant is consequently very nice, it is a feel good place. I had pasta which was ok but highly priced. Personally, I like to small coffee shop in the Milchbar the most! Nina Rimpl (Swiss Barista Champion 2014) and friends - current champion and champions to become - are running the Milchbar coffee at perfection. Nina teams with the roaster Black&Blaze in Zurich to get a perfect espresso. Try yourself!

Yelp
Good coffee shop right in the center of Zürich. Nice ambient and good coffee. Obviously, Zürich high prices.

Yelp
Lovely cappuccinos and flat whites. I'm always on the lookout for coffee. My boyfriend opted for a chai latte instead and although it wasn't too sweet, which the most are, it still lacked the spiciness that i prefer in my chai.

Yelp
The set up is good at this Milchbar vs. the Bellvue Milchbar. Has it's own little outdoor square with a water fountain so it gives a cool relaxing ambiance. There's table service or you can order at the till and drink at the bar tables/standing. Americano is 4.30fr, which seems to be the average price for one. Good nutty flavor, not bitter. Iced Coffee is about 6.40fr. Bike friendly as I parked mine on a pole out at the front entrance. Did not have wifi.

Yelp
Milchbar is one of a handful of cafés in Zurich that you'll consistently get decent espresso based coffee. Additionally, they serve pretty tasty breakfast -- I recommend getting one of their delicious basic sets with soft boiled eggs, croissants, yogurt, etc. I've gotten their daily pasta once, which was so-so. If you go, I suggest sticking to coffee and the breakfast menu.

Yelp
Such a pleasant place, at least in the warm season, when you are able to enjoy their marvellous garden-oasis in the city center. The staff is friendly, they prepare for you a fine coffee, offer you some patisserie or bircher muesli even early afternoon (I craved for breakfast)) and their home made juices are fine as well. I wish to get here the proper breakfast they offer and all the other dishes of the day. The only disadvantage is: more people do know it and like it here so it gets crooowded at times.
