Miles Canyon

October can be a tricky month to visit, but it is the best month to avoid the tourist season. It’s nice and quiet. A pleasant walk toward the bridge and the columnar basalt structure ❤️

It is not far from Whitehorse town. The color of the water was pure dark green. Easy to access a suspension bridge. It allows visitors to hike along a miles trail.

Beautiful canyon and walking area. You can drive to the location or access it via different hiking trails.

Wish I'd had more time for hiking. Gorgeous emerald waters. Lovely purple crocus. No problem with parking when I was there. Not far off the main road, near Whitehorse.

A lovely, scenic place for a short walk or hike! Great views of the river and valley.

At the time I visited Whitehorse, the gate going down towards the canyon was closed. I was worried that we wouldn't get a chance to see it. Some people in the town let us know it's still accessible with the gate closed. Luckily there was a small space where you can park your car along the road. It's a decent walk down a long hill to get there, but it is definitely worth the trek. Absolutely beautiful spot to see in person.

This is a must-see place if you are visiting Whitehorse. In particular, I highly recommend the free guided hiking tour of Miles Canyon by the Yukon Conservation Society. Not only will you learn about plants in the area as well as local history, you will also be able to see the Canyon's beautiful views and wonderful forest setting.

Absolute must see if you're in Whitehorse. The basalt columns are super cool. Very accessible, no hiking required, although there are trails if you want a longer visit. It's just a few steps from the parking area. There's a porta-potty on first plateau in the road and then you can drive down to the parking area. It says limited turn around space but as long as you don't have an RV or something there's lots of room.
