Staying for business purposes. Rooms certainly had an appeal towards following an antique style of decor. It looked good but not functional. Unfortunately the staff doesn’t seem to be well prepared to handle guests that speak English, it still worked out at the end, though. It’s impossible to truly sleep in if the hotel is decently occupied as around 7 to 8AM you’ll hear a symphony of squeaking floors from above, around and below. Perhaps possible if you’re a heavy sleeper. On and all it was a unique experience, as long as that’s what you’re looking for then you’re good to go.

We stayed in a family room for 5 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are uncluttered and pristine, the beds comfy. There is no tv, no tea/coffee and no desk, which some people may miss, but the room and bathroom are perfect and rates very reasonable for Switzerland.||Breakfast was good - the staff were very friendly and catered well for one of our kids who is dairy intolerant. We had afternoon tea and dinner during our stay and both also very good.||The hotel is in a really nice park which has a playground for the kids, and the hotel itself has table tennis and other outside games for the family to enjoy. ||Location is great - just a 10 min easy walk from the main train station and city centre.||We will definitely stay again.

The cleanliness of this hotel is out of this world. Props to the cleaning staff. They're amazing. Beautiful place. Love the minimalistic vibe too.

Clean rooms. Unfortunately, the floor is old and creaky. The TV and the refrigerator are missing. Otherwise, the location is super quiet and the area is beautiful.

Stayed at Militaerkantine for 2 nights in December while in St Gallen for a conference. ||It's an interesting little place. Quirky, but comfortable and unpretentious. The whole hotel is rather basic and minimalist, with the bar and restaurant (canteen) forming the heart of the place. The decor is somewhat austere, and while all that might not sound very inviting, the place works well and is surprisingly cosy. It's nice to come back to after a day out in the cold. ||Food in the restaurant was good and had a "homemade" feel. Staff were attentive and helpful. ||Rooms are large with wooden floors and a large comfortable bed. Again, very basic, but practical. ||I think it's down to personal taste, but I liked it for it's unusual features and all round good vibe. More fun than a Holiday Inn.

We were there for a family brunch. It tasted good and It was delicious but not much. So If you are starving, It is not a place to get full for that price that you pay.

It's sort of strange place the rooms are very functional no tv, but they are very clean and give the impression of being very well maintained. The restaurant is set up for communal dining so large tables and you'll quite often get other people day at your table not normally somewhere I would like but the place to me had a wonderful warm welcoming atmosphere. The food was outstanding, they only have a very small menu but it's all seasonal changes daily, and dessert is homemade cakes pastries and ice cream.I'd definitely stay here again has good public transport links into town

A parking area is available for guests. The small and atypical hotel is very close to a green park good for a walk /run. There is an area to stay outside for a drink in the good season; restaurant , bar and this exterior are shared with people not guest if the hotel. Room are simple and neat, quite basic and old in their forniture. I had no desk , chair and tv in my room, but they offer I pad at the reception and there is a Bose sound system in the room. I took a salad for dinner, maybe too dressed but good; with two glasses of wine about 42chf. The reception is a desk within the restaurant/bar
