It's a nice spot for breakfast or brunch. The portions are big and the quality is good. They are a cash only establishment. I recommend the butter pancakes with white chocolate and blueberry jam. The coffee is good as well it's not acidic. They speak English and they have an English and a German menu. You can smoke outside, they will bring you an ashtray (even though the waitress forgot ours 😅)

Great place for breakfast / brunch. I had the omelette with smoked salmon and goat cheese. The goat cheese made the whole dish perfect. The espresso martinis are a must here as they’re super creamy! The atmosphere is a little too noisy for my liking, with waiters running around. However, the service is fast and caring.

Really great local place with the view on Ostkreutz. I visited it before hopping on a train back home and it was a perfect choice! Very cozy atmosphere, homemade type of food, with super nice stuff. It can get loud in the morning as the place gets quite full. Really enjoyable place though and I will definitely come back when I’m in Berlin next time. You can pay only with cash.

First of all I will have to mention how good is the service, the waitress was really kind and nice! The place was quite full but they managed to find a place for us The food was exceptional, we had the croque and the pancakes. It was really tasty and fulfilling. Definitely recommend!

Good vibes and very comfortable 😎 I enjoyed the Croque Madame and Ice Latte (with coconut milk) 😋 Please note that it's cash only 💶

Luckily, we still had some cookies from yesterday, because we had to wait over an hour for our food. Drinks arrived after 40 minutes. The food was mediocre. My sandwich was drowned in some kind of cream. My friend's vegan food didn't taste fresh, and she later became nauseous. It's a shame you can't tag the health authorities on Google. And if you are the owner and have issues to manage your restaurant, you can also think about not stuffing everything full of tables that you have no space like in a tin of sardinia.

Super good food. Delicious. Place is very comfortable as well. Prices are fair. Service was kind and friendly, however, they charged us for the tap water at the end, which is a bit odd. But other than that, super approved.

Google
A hidden gem near Ostkreuz, nice breakfast & lunch and a delicious coffee & cake place! Just a few steps from Ostkreuz station, I found Milja & Schäfa — and what was supposed to be a quick coffee stop turned into the highlight of my day. The sun was shining, the outdoor tables were full of life, and the whole place had this warm, inviting energy. I sat down “just for a minute,” ordered a coffee (which was amazing), and immediately knew I wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon. The menu was too tempting to ignore — fresh sandwiches, homemade cakes, delicious lunch dishes. I ended up ordering way more than planned, and everything tasted fantastic. But what truly makes Milja & Schäfa special is the atmosphere: a multicultural, friendly team and the feeling that you’re part of Berlin’s beautiful mix of cultures and lifestyles. Sitting there with the sun on my face, surrounded by the sounds and colors of the city, I felt completely at peace. This place is pure Berlin magic. Can’t wait to come back!

Yelp
Very nice breakfast place, but pretty crammed on a Sunday ... so it gets very very loud.

Yelp
Food and coffee were really good, I had the breakfast bagel and was happy and sated afterwards. Staff could be a little warmer, it seems to be a lucky chance if you get a friendly waiter or a sightless haughty/grumpy one. Sad as the place is otherwise really nice and comfy.

Yelp
Great breakfast menu. Breakfast bagel absolutely heaven, the English breakfast is not bad at all either. The pancakes are a little weird, they top it with German yoghurt. That's a nono to me... There's always room for us 2 with our kids. Our favorite location around Ostkreuz on the weekend.

Yelp
Great place for lunch or a stop for coffee right by Ostkreuz station. It has a definite Scandi vibe probably due to the decor giving it a sort of cosy wood cabin feel. It's the sort of place you can lounge in with a coffee and your MacBook. The menu caters to brunch, lunch and dinner, serving soups, pasta, salads and eggs. My friend and I went for a weekday lunch and the place was pretty busy but the service was fast. We both went for the paleo plate. This was absolutely delicious, flavoursome and surprisingly filling with romanesco, beetroot, and parsnips. I enjoyed it so much I ordered it again when we met for lunch again a few weeks later. Price wise it is moderate, there are better value lunch options elsewhere in the same area, but you might not find such tasty vegan/vegetarian option as that paleo plate!

Yelp
Fantastic restaurant and cafe. The food is delicious and innovative. I am usually not a big fan of pasta but their handmade pastas are very good. I really enjoy their breakfast as well. The entire staff is very friendly and hard working. I have to say I am not a big fan of their desserts but then I don't have much of a sweet tooth anyways. Me and my wife recently celebrated our wedding dinner here and it was a perfect small scale celebration. We had over 20 people but the staff handled it very well and made it a wonderful night!

Yelp
respect to this cafe on their one year anniversary. Great addition to the Kiez. Pros: -Killer pancakes. -Well rounded menu -Sexy, flirty clientele. -Ostkreutz parade of freaks available to watch from the outdoor tables in the summer. Both sunny and shady seating. -Tremendous hours. For example, they're only closed on the most crucial days of the Christmas holiday, while the rest of ostkreutz ist außer betrieb (5Sterne). -Unparalleled devotion to their business. Cons: -Missing the perfect zu mit nehmen breakfast item to go with a coffee -Can get busy at peak hours, seating is ample, but can fill up. -can sometimes be anomalously expensive (€12 for scrambled eggs with cheese and a plain bagel sliced in half on the side)

Yelp
Warm, classy decor and friendly service. We started with the antipasto appetizer which was quite delicious and came with some spectacular bread. It included a little salad, some cured meats, spreads and an amazing onion salad. Then we got pasta, I had the rucola spaghetti which was little underdone, but it's probably only my preference for softer pasta, not something wrong with it. It was spicy and flavorful without being heavy. I also got to try the gorgonzola which was amazing. Tender tagliatelle and a fantastic sauce with walnuts and pear. We also got a dessert, a brownie baked in a little pan topped with ice cream and served with a side of fruit. It was sweet and well cooked and delicious. The beer selection was small but I had a great red wine, not too sweet.

Yelp
It's really hipster, but don't let that discourage you. The food is really good and generally comes pretty quickly.

Yelp
I'm a regular at Milja&Schäfa, elegantly designed with a pleasant unobtrusive layout, big table in the middle, ideal for larger groups and outside seating. Relaxed crowd, many come to read and work (like me). But always nice with group of friends, any time of the day. Attentive service. At any time of day very good food, surprisingly diverse but not overflowing menu with creative dishes, also various vegetarian choices. Excellent breakfast! Milja&Schäfa is an authentic, versatile place, a real gem within its often rather bland gastronomic neighbourhood.

Yelp
It was pretty good, we both enjoyed our food and the service was friendly. Considering the quality of the food, the price is fair.

Yelp
Had lunch there today with my business partner. He had a Chicken Burger (without the bread...) I had a spinach salad and a coffee. Everything was really tasty and had good quality. The ambiance is nice and the proximity to the S-Bahn adds convenience.

Yelp
We were there on a Sunday evening when it wasn't particularly crowded. It's a nice restaurant / bar with wooden wall decor that creates a warm atmosphere. We had drinks in an alcove which offers a perfect place to lounge if you don't have anything to eat. Unfortunately, both waitresses were not really attentive, and being out of sight in our alcove didn't help. But apart from that a nice place to recommend.
