Google
Super friendly. And to be honest the greatest egg salad sandwich I have ever had. The pickled green beans on it were delicious! The chocolate chip cookie with sea salt was a great treat after hiking in acadia.

Jon K.

Google
Super delicious breakfast, at a place with a great vibe. The biscuit breakfast sandwich is insanely good, the coffee is excellent, and the outdoor seating is the perfect way to enjoy the morning.

Meagan F.

Google
Homemade granola was delicious, but coffee was mediocre and biscuit breakfast sandwich was dense. Overall nice spot tucked off the Main Street and decent service but wasn't overwhelmed with the food or atmosphere.

Jill D.

Google
This is the first restaurant review I have written, but my experience here was possibly my worst ever. We waited over an hour for basic sandwiches. I ordered a simple ham & cheese with lettuce and tomato. No tomato, dry tasteless bread and 2 small squares of cheese on each half. I only at half and three the rest away.

Google
I came here for lunch after a full morning of hiking and wow did it hit the spot. I got a vegetarian Bahn Mi and a rhubarb lemonade - both were fantastic! I love Bahn mi and it can be hard to find a good one, so I was pleasantly surprised. My partner got a pulled pork sandwich and he said it was really good. When we were there they were playing 90s rnb and it was a fun, relaxing atmosphere to rest your legs. Do note that that close the kitchen at 2pm. We heard a bunch of people come in and try to order sandwiches, but they were told they couldn’t order after 2

Google
Great sandwiches! Perfect spot for lunch on a day exploring Acadia National Park. About a 10 minute drive from Acadia. Beware their kitchen shuts down at 2PM so you can only get bakery items and drinks from 2-4. Excellent service, indoor and outdoor seating available. We enjoyed the bahn mi sandwich and the Italian meatball sub. Both were delicious!

Jordy P.

Google
Highly recommend the “chicken schnitzel” - a tasty lightly breaded chicken. Lovely outdoor dining as well.

Lulu P.

Google
Sandwiches made to order until 3:00. Fresh and tasty. Can get any sandwich as a salad. Great service on a busy Friday in July.

Yelp
Milk & Honey is a great find in Northeast Harbor, you just have to know to look for it. It's tucked away behind the Maritime Museum, just off Main Street. It's a breakfast & lunch cafe that values using locally sourced, fresh ingredients. We stopped for lunch and ordered the Vegplant (V) and Bahn Mi (v) sandwiches. The Vegplant had an eggplant spread, roasted vegetables, and tabouleh on focaccia. The vegan Bahn Mi had tofu, pickled vegetables, greens, miso spread, and cilantro on a baguette. Both sandwiches were excellent and we ordered a couple of iced chais--they were house made and among the best in Maine. It's counter service, and the patio seating was just what we were looking for on a warm summer day in June. We went back the next morning for breakfast and found it to be a little trickier--according to the person behind the counter, the only vegan breakfast item was the hash brown. I had the yogurt parfait--it was as it was described on the menu and just okay--I generally prefer fresh fruit--it had a fruit preserve, which was just okay--maybe it needed more. The hash brown was made of shredded potatoes and was what you would expect. Overall, from a vegetarian/vegan perspective this is a solid 5 star lunch spot, and I love what they're doing here. I just wish they had a vegan option for breakfast.

Yelp
Killer blt. Nothing fancy, just great tomato and lettuce with a large dollop of Mayo. Rhubarb lemonade was tart and tasty.

Kim W.

Yelp
Amazing place! Amazing food! Stopped for breakfast after seeing the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain, the two together made for a perfect start to the day! Google has their location wrong so don't give up, this place is worth the search!!! Wish we lived closer, I would be here every day. Even brought a bowl of water out for our dog
google avatar

Yelp
This place was such a cute find! The patio was adorable, I could have spent an entire afternoon lounging and eating goodies. I got the meatball sandwich, which was delicious- what made this stand out was the fact that the bread of the meatball sandwich was a baguette vs the normal soft Italian roll. Would recommend!

Kim W.

Yelp
We found this cute lunch cafe quite by chance. We were looking for a quick bite to eat before heading back to our bed and breakfast in Bar Harbor. Though the gluten free options were few the sandwich options for my husband were extensive. Even though we arrived 2 minutes before they closed for the day the service was excellent. They took our orders and made us feel welcome even telling us to stay as long as we'd like they were leaving for a while just that the kitchen would be closed. Fortunately for the women who arrived after us they also served her as well. Great customer service and very good food. If we are ever in the area vacationing again we will definitely be back. FYI: they have a patio area that we ate in outside which was shady and very comfortable even though it looked out into the parking lot.

Yelp
Nice little restaurant. Great for coffee and a pastry. That's exactly what I had. The coffee was very good. I take it black. I had a piece of flat apple pie. So tasty and buttery. I give this place 4.2 Bellies.

Yelp
We were so excited to try this cafe...unfortunately, it is not an actual cafe because they don't have an espresso machine and only have drip coffee in gas station like containers. I got a regular coffee and my husband got pre-portioned cold brew from the mini fridge which had directions on it to ask staff for ice. However, they said "I have no ice today" after we had already paid for it. Uhhh..what? My husband took the cold brew anyway and we went to sit outside to try their donut (Dunkin Donuts equivalent) and biscuit (cold biscuit served with cold butter). At that point we see the same person that took our order and said they had no ice, go to the gas station across the street and come back with 2 bags of ice. Walked right past us and did not even offer any! We're frequent visitors of MDI, and will definitely not be returning here.

Yelp
Cute little spot for coffee and an egg and bacon biscuit sandwich. I sat outside and enjoyed it! A very filling meal to start my day!

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast sandwiches, etc. last summer and loved it. Didn't get to do the Thursday fried chicken night last year, but it was on my vacation to-do list this year. OMG. I was so determined to make it to fried chicken night, my fiancé thought it was hilarious. I had it on the calendar and everything. We arrived around 10 or 15 minutes early and there was already a line of easily 6 groups ahead of us, a lot of whom were locals who told us they often line up 30 minutes early. Can't blame them! The chicken is THAT FRIKKIN GOOD. Everything was lovely. The waffles with spiced maple syrup were great, the Nice Salad was great. I love the music and the chill vibe. I will make sure to put THURSDAY NIGHT CHICKEN DINNER on my calendar every time we're in the area!

Yelp
Came for Thursday Patio Party. 4 piece buttermilk fried chicken was moist and cooked through, but it was warm instead of hot. Cornmeal waffles were room temperature and oddly soft--I was expecting something crispier. Horseradish potato salad had all the flavors it needed, but there were some tiny bits in there that felt like raw potato. Cabbage fennel slaw was refreshing, not hard on flavor and it didn't need to be. Sea salt chocolate chip cookie was thin and crispy but miraculously still had some chew in it. Spiced maple syrup that came with the waffles was great, actually paired quite well with the brown butter rice krispies treat. Honestly, this review should be a three, but the staff was so cool and generous even though they were busy from the the get go, so there's that fourth star. Also they had Lagunitss Hoppy Refresher.

Yelp
Today, my wife and I stopped and had a quick lunch outside. I had the chorizo and corn quiche and my wife had a veggie sandwich with quinoa and tahini. Both were delicious. We washed them down with a rhubarb lemonade and maple iced chai. Knocking off one star only because everything is reheated, and not always thoroughly. Had a delicious chocolate chip cookie, too--similar to Jacques Torres' layered gems.
google avatar

Nick L.

Yelp
I had the chicken schnitzel sandwich with an iced chai. I fear that this meal will haunt me for years until I return. The bread was a delicate cloud topped with crispy, tangy slaw and a crunch-tastic chicken filet. It was balanced in flavor and texture. Plus, the chai was spicy and tasty.

Melissa K.

Yelp
We had two great vegetarian sandwiches and delicious sweets. The outdoor patio was nice and service was friendly. A nice spot.

Yelp
Delicious bites to eat! Great place to stop for a relaxing breakfast or lunch. The tomato basil brie quiche was amazing! Definitely stop here!

Yelp
We had a pleasant lunch here before our charter sailing trip. Sandwiches were all good. We also tried their mac and cheese and it was my favorite of all the things we got. They have a lot of treats but didn't have any of them. Self serve coffee. Seating inside and outside. A gender neutral bathroom. Easy lunch. Do note they take their time but we had plenty of time before our charter.

Yelp
Wonderful little place- we got the egg sandwich for breakfast- the red pepper jelly made this sandwich. Highly recommend -

Yelp
Had to charge our EV. Walked and chose this spot because there are two vegetarians in our family. Everyone agreed it deserved 5 stars. Sandwiches were on the menu, cut in half- my meat eating son got the brisket and I got the chicken schnitzel (had a nice crisp not soggy) and we shared. We agreed both were good but the brisket was better - sooo good. Very good. The vegetarians shared a veg plant and banh mi and they both liked them. My vegetarian son who didn't like quinoa before asked "is quinoa usually this good?" (It was in the veg plant sandwich.) Got a thin chocolate chip cookie for $1.50 that was wonderful Great lunch spot after visiting Acadia!
google avatar

Kate M.

Yelp
Even though the bakery sweets were really good (chocolate cherry scones and rhubarb upsidedown cake), there was no espresso...no lattes or anything of the like. Drip only, so don't go expecting a coffee shop.

L P.

Yelp
My favorite place in Northeast. Amazing breakfast sandwich (worth the wait!) and great scones. Every morning they have something a little different in the pastry department. On Thursday nights their fried chicken and oysters are a fun and chill get together. Everyone is friendly and it's a place i enjoy supporting.

Yelp
After having such a hassle finding food in Bar Harbor, we tried Milk & Honey for lunch, and then ordered more food for our next lunch and dinner. The online ordering was super-easy (just pick up the bag with your name on it from the pick-up table in their courtyard). The food was very good. We loved all the sandwiches we tried: egg salad, chicken schnitzel, brisket, and turkey meatball. The egg salad with dilly beans is the best egg salad sandwich I've had in a long time--so good. We also tried the peanut noodle salad, quinoa tabbouleh, and potato salad sides. All were good. The tabbouleh could use a little more seasoning/sauce but it was still a good, healthier option. The noodle salad was big enough to be a stand-alone lunch. It was tasty; we really enjoyed the pickled vegetables and shallots on top. We also had the hippie cookie and rice crispy treat. Both were fantastic--a step above what we expected. We did order a molasses ginger cookie that was missing from the order, but in the scheme of these orders, that wasn't a huge deal. I'd take a half star off for the missing cookie and less flavorful tabbouleh, but given how challenging it has been to get food around Acadia (long waits, difficult parking, restaurants that won't even put you on a list well before closing...), this place was a treat in terms of ease and tasty food. Highly recommended.

Debra S.

Yelp
Great shop in Northeast Harbor. Visit the patio on Thursday nights for the delicious fried chicken and honey.
google avatar

Yelp
It's OK. Got the chicken salad. Not that impressed but their juice is really good. Hope they can put less sugar though.

Yelp
Friendly service and wonderful easy fast coffee and tea. When I come back to go to the library I will definitely come back here.

Brooke D.

Yelp
Incredibly friendly staff, love their communication and friendliness towards each other! The food is incredible and I love that they offer to heat things up for you or you can take it home to do yourself. My favorite is the chicken schnitzel and the fish cakes!
google avatar

Peter B.

Yelp
A nice place for lunch, great sandwiches, nice outdoor seating. Counter help not super friendly/helpful, but owner often present, who is very attentive/knowledgeable. A bit pricey, but chicken salad sandwich was fabulous. Would def go back.

Yelp
This is a sweet little restaurant located in a sweet little town in Maine. It is tucked away off the main street. There is good outdoor seating. And even though it is on the edge of a parking lot, I have never found it to be a distraction. I have enjoyed the pastries and coffee here, as well as the sandwiches. But the best thing I have had here, is the fried chicken on Thursday nights. Only offered on Thursday nights, the chicken is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Try it with some of the mac and cheese, which is delectable. The corn bread is also very good. But if you do come for the Thursday chicken dinner, come early, as a line forms quickly. Best to have one person claim the seating and the other stand in line.

Yelp
Wonderful, unpretentious cafe with delicious food. We had the chicken salad sandwich and a butterscotch brownie. Yum!
google avatar

Jasmeen B.

Yelp
The coffee brought me (pre-hike/exploring) and the lemon cake made me stay. I'll be back! Cute little underrated cafe tucked away in a corner in Northeast Harbor. Quality items!
google avatar

Greg S.

Yelp
This is a delicious little secret in Northeast Harbor. To tell the truth, I was unsure the first time. I thought that it might be a good spot for a ladies' long lunch, but I went along. I was wrong! It has plenty of great choices, but the Beef brisket sandwich is so delicious, I may never find out what anything else tastes like because I keep ordering it again and again! They have a mac and cheese that is done their way, and everyone raves about it. My wife absolutely loves the Ham and Gruyere on a baguette. There are two things you have to know. 1) The restaurant is actually behind the Great Harbor Museum, so you cannot see it from the main road. 2) If you are a diabetic, the only sugar free drink they have is water, but they will let you bring your own sugar free drink.
google avatar

Yelp
Been vacationing on MDI for years and missed this gem. It's the "Alice's Restaurant" of the region. Why? It's just 100 yds off the Main Street to the left going south on that one-way side of town, down a side alley where you might not look for gourmet sandwiches, coffee, custom pastries and unbelievable rhubarb lemonade. We had chicken Dijon salad on sourdough- yum.

Shack D.

Yelp
This is the best sandwiches and sweet bakery items on MDI. My wife and I have been coming to MDI for 10 years and we're super excited to find MIlk & Honey. We found the place by accident - we were eating across the street at another sandwich shop in Northeast Harbor that didn't live up to the hype. I was so pissed off that I was eating a crappy sandwich that I jumped onto yelp to see what my options were and saw Milk & Honey. We immediately jumped up and hit Milk & Honey for a second lunch - it was that good. Like Nirvana good. Here is the details: - the best sandwiches. The Italian is my favorite. It is light and filled with great meat and homemade pickled veggies. The Veg sandwich is also great with homemade hummus and super tender roasted veggies. They also have a chicken schnitzel and veggie banh mi. I repeat - the best sandwiches on MDI. Yes - a bit expensive but very generous portions. - the best brownie. Like gooey brownies? Run, don't walk to this place. - the best potato salad. Boiling lobsters for dinner - get some to go with it. Full of fresh herbs and horseradish for some kick. - other good stuff. Their baked goods are all homemade and beat all the other bakeries on the island. The staff is awesome - super friendly. Heather is the best. This place is hard to find. It's tucked behind the gas station but has awesome outside seating and a yard for kids. What are you waiting for? Get off your boat, bike or trail and head here for lunch - NOW!!!!!!

Yelp
Visiting Milk & Honey is so relaxing and refreshing. Whether you're having a crisp, locally sourced, perfectly dressed salad, rich and satisfying (but sensibly petite) little quiche or the most deeply chocolatey whoopie pie imaginable, everything I've ordered ever at the cafe has been excellent. We have also ordered whole cakes three times-- our wedding cake, then the same hazelnut praline cake minus the second tier on anniversaries. *YUM*
google avatar

Sam B.

Yelp
Don't listen to CArolineO. She isn't use to a place that serves fresh, healthy, and delicious sandwiches. Which by the way $26.00 is a great price for THREE sandwiches. You can go to the Pine Tree and get a canned tuna sandwich for $7.99. Or pay $2.00 per sandwich and get something amazing. And the reason they run out sometimes Caroline, is because they make their sandwiches FRESH every day! Not mass produce them and shove them in a glass case so people like you with no taste buds can be happy paying $4.00 for a sub par sandwich. Their food is amazing and their service too. Next time you should stop in Ellsworth before you come here, I'm sure subway would love to hear what you have to say about their $5.00 foot long.

Meg B.

Yelp
Came here on a whim after one of our longer hikes! We only sampled some beverages. Their iced coffee and lemon, honey, iced tea. Both were super refreshing! The bean they use for their coffee is called 44 North Coffee and looked to me to be a locally grown coffee, which is super cool! I bought a bag for home and can't wait to research it a little more... But for now, I'm super tired and I don't have the cell reception currently. They stop making sandwiches at two! And while their pastries were tempting and looked excellent we had to pass them up since a big dinner was just around the corner. I can't wait to come back and give their food menu a try!
google avatar

Charles B.

Yelp
Milk & Honey is just what NEH needs: a café with great freshly-baked goods, delicious sandwiches, and a dynamic menu. The Bành mì (pork pâté) and dijon chicken salad sandwiches are on point. Love the biscuits, too. Price point is reasonable for a great sandwich.
google avatar

Jay B.

Yelp
Every Thursday night in the summer, check out Patio Party after dinner. Great vibe, artisan eats, fab drinks.

David B.

Yelp
Meh. Based on reviews we made a special trip for some baked goods. Upon entering we were immediately disappointed. The case of baked goods was a small counter unit with little selection. Since we made the drive we proceeded buy a "variety" of things, which almost wiped out their selection. Everything seemed stale, this was around 9am btw. Sticky buns were ok after gobs of butter and a microwave. Scones were charred on the bottom. Donuts were dry and crusty. The recommended rice crispy treat was no better than what I can make. The blueberry muffin I just ate while writing this review was dry and stale. It wasn't worth the drive. Packaged hostess donuts and muffins would have been better and A LOT cheaper.
google avatar

B H.

Yelp
Great little gem, amazing, wholesome food, terrific desserts. Inviting atmosphere. Seating is limited indoors, though.

Lyn L.

Yelp
We stopped for a quick take out brunch. Everything we ate was delicious! We tried the crab/chive & bacon/asparagus mini quiches. Even cold they were good. The root beer brisket had big TENDER cuts of meat and a wonderful pickled cucumbers! If it was not raining we would have sat outside. There is seating both out front and out back. Inside there are a few tables and a wooden high chair for a little one. You gotta try their store made rhubarb lemonade, very zingy but so good. The girl that helped us was great at working with us to figure out what we would enjoy. The store is reached from the public parking lot. Update : we saved the biscuits for later that same day and they were the best we had ever had. We wish we had bought more to take home and use for strawberry shortcake. This time we ate them with the blueberry goat cheese that we had bought at Seal Cove Farm.

Yelp
Great secret tucked up a side road... yummy baked goods, side salads and sandwiches. Love what their doing. Keep it up! Oh and the honey iced tea... delicious!!!
google avatar

Annie E.

Yelp
When my family and I came here, we were going to stop in for a bite to eat, use the restroom, and ask for directions to Acadia National Park. We were ignored by the staff when we first came in to ask if we could use the bathroom, so we thought we could ask someone when we ordered our food (which is pretty pricey). When we asked for directions, the answer was "how should I know?". We didn't buy anything because of that. I'm glad that some people have had great experiences, but we certainly did not. And we DID find the park thanks to the shop next door.

B C.

Yelp
The sandwiches they make are terrific- I wish they made them later in the day too, so get there before 2:00 for lunch sandwiches. The turkey meatball sandwich is my favorite and the chicken salad is delicious too. Great Mac n cheese to go

Jaimie S.

Yelp
Great coffee and desserts - the sandwiches looked amazing but did not get one - chef and waitstaff was extremely friendly and seemed down to earth

Katie M.

Yelp
Milk & Honey Kitchen made our wedding cake and the results were phenomenal! Eliza was so easy to work with and produced a truly delicious "lemoniest cake," and coordinated with our florist to make it beautiful as well. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the quality of the cake (and the vegan cupcakes she provided as an alternative for a few of our guests were really appreciated and raved about as well). My only regret is that the slice intended for our anniversary never made it home from Maine!
google avatar

Larry C.

Yelp
The proprietor of this restaurant made the cake for my wedding two years ago and people are still talking about it. It was a hazelnut brown butter cake that wasn't just the best wedding cake I've ever had, it was the all around best cake I've ever had. Several of my wedding guests returned for lunch multiple times during the week following my wedding. Had she been open before the wedding I would have asked her to cater it as soon as I tasted her food. Everything I've ever had here has been wonderful. Whenever I'm on the island I make a point to stop in a few times because I know I'm going to have something spectacular. She also made the best brownies and the best iced tea I've ever had as well. As I drive up to Mount Desert Island I'm constantly looking at her website and trying to figure out what I want more. I'll probably just go with whatever she has made and I'm sure I'll be thrilled.

Patricia B.

Yelp
Wow! I am shocked to read the extremely negative review. Honestly, I have lunched there at least half a dozen times over the past two seasons and it has always been great! I love their small individual quiches, my husband is crazy about their brisket sandwich and the bittersweet brownies are to die for! I think they could add a very small side serving of balsamic dressed mixed greens for the sandwiches & quiche ($2.00 extra charge--fine!) but that's just an observation not a criticism. I highly recommend this charming, private little lunch niche--you will seriously love it!

Cyndi S.

Yelp
Great place for a cup of coffee and a yummy muffin! I also love their individual quiche. They are delicious. Great for catering! Sorry to read that negative review as I have always had a good experience there. Milk and Honey is a wonderful addition to NEH!

bubba g.

Yelp
Compared some pastries based on a local recommendation. Blueberry muffins were meh. Donut selection was tiny, but tasty hand-made. Overall, ok. Try it.

CArolina O.

Yelp
Legitimately THE worst restaurant I have ever been to in my life. EVER. This is not a hate comment, but a legitimate review. First off they were out of more than half of their menu items. Which they should have told us upon entering their quaint sandwich shop, but failed to- as I could imagine, we were the first people to solicit them for business in a while. Maybe they were hot and fresh for the breakfast folks, but the lunch scene was much, much different. After waiting in line, I felt pressured to order from the shop that was clearly begging for business- at least from my observance, so I did. Along with my brother and sister, we ordered 3 sandwiches and PAID 26 DOLLARS FOR THEM. Thinking, actually hoping it would be worth our money we went out side to wait for out sandwiches. When the waitress finally brought them to us; there was nothing but UNTOASTED, UNDERPORTIONED BULL$HIT in front of us. The 26 dollar sandwiches didn't even come with a side or a small bag of chips! We were shocked. Being young, and trusting- we thought it rude to do anything but bite in. Sad, sad mistake. Literally THE WORST FOOD I HAVE EVER EATEN. I promise you, someone could not even pay me to do that again. I felt so bad for my poor sister who had kindly footed the bill for lunch that day... Granted we have a funny, terrible story to tell about our lunch in Northeast Harbor that day, but I feel so sad for that conning business that tried to sell them selves to us like that. That's not an honest way to operate a business and for that, I feel no shame in saying- MILK AND HONEY OF NORTHEAST HARBOR, MAINE IS THE WORST, MOST PATHETIC ESTABLISHMENT I HAVE EVER SPENT A PENNY.
