Pizza aficionados who find themselves in either Pittsburgh or Cleveland should definitely make a pit stop at Milky Way Pizza. Both locations offer distinct experiences, and here's a comparative review to guide your pizza journey. Pittsburgh Location: Milky Way Pizza in Pittsburgh is a haven for lovers of New York-style pizza. The crust is thin, allowing for that iconic fold, and strikes the right balance between crispy and soft. The tangy sauce, combined with generous toppings and perfectly melted cheese, makes for a delightful bite every time. The ambiance is lively, reminiscent of the bustling pizzerias in New York, and the staff is both friendly and efficient. Cleveland Location: The Cleveland branch of Milky Way Pizza offers a different take. The dough here is reminiscent of bread dough, which gives it a thicker and softer texture. However, there have been instances where the dough feels a tad undercooked, which might not appeal to everyone. That said, the toppings are fresh and abundant, ensuring a flavorful experience with each slice.

Excellent service, excellent food, and compassionate staff that reintroduce a universally paramount ingredient that seems to be difficult to come across now a days - LOVE. They love what they do, and you can taste it in their food. 10/10 definitely recommend! You can even order online for delivery or take out through their website!

I was planning a trip to Pittsburgh- google stated milky way restaurant was *open* . I placed an order for dine in. They told me it was closed due to an emergency. I understand they close a 8 however, an update to their times of operation should have been updated. Poor communication. I will not be dining here in the future. My husband used to like eating here, we decided we won't be supporting your establishment.

Google
Ah, the Milky Way pizza, where cheese and toppings form constellations in a galaxy of flavor. An epicurean voyage worth taking, each slice a celestial body of culinary delight. The egg salad wrap—ah, the humble egg elevated to aristocracy! It's like wisdom wrapped in humility; simple ingredients composed into a masterpiece of taste. And the cheese pretzel? Think of it as life's twisty, salty roads, enrobed in the comfort of cheese. A lesson in harmonizing contrasts, if you will. In short, a trifecta where flavor, comfort, and a dash of whimsy collide! 🌌🥚🥨

Google
I was passing through Pittsburgh going to the East coast and was looking for vegan places to eat in and came across Milky Way. I love how straightforward the place is. It was easy to order, the food came in pretty quickly, and the food was amazing! I ordered the veggie chicken parmesan and it tasted fantastic! Very filling as well. I also ordered The Cowboy burger which uses their house-made veggie patty and it was phenomenal. Would def come back when I pass Pittsburgh again! 😊

Google
I like that they make their own bread. That's never a bad thing. They call there fries spicy but they're just seasoned for people a little intimidated by the name they're good.I will try the pizza next time. I'll definitely be back.

Google
Fantastic hidden gem. Expected a little pizza place. Found the most unique selection of pizza I've ever seen. The cheddar ranch was delicious as were the fries. The menu was huge and everything was delicious.

Google
The pizza wasn’t cooked all the way through and quality of the cheese and the sauce weren’t good at all. The fries were pretty good.

Yelp
Interesting to combine a kosher and vegetarian place, offering classic American fare: burgers, fries, pasta, and such. I would say the food is pretty standard and a solid option for a quick bite or takeout. Whenever, I came close to closing time, like even an hour before, there's one guy who puts the chairs on top of tables so loudly! Not a great experience to sit-in then--hope they're more aware of the customer experience!

Yelp
incredible food for an amazing price and all the workers were super friendly especially the guacamole panini was fire

Yelp
A professional restaurant critic would probably stay at 4 stars at the most, but as I'm not the one, and I'm simply rating the experience, I'm happy with my rating. We stopped by for an early lunch. The menu is substantial, offering lots of options (no meat in any of the dishes, fish is the only type of "meat" available). I took a fish panini, and it was actually humongous. It can be easily shared between two people for a highly satisfying lunch. But overall, very tasty dish - crispy fish, crunchy bread - excellent. I also got spicy French fries, and again, they were delicious, crispy and well seasoned. Excellent lunch all in all. Good friendly service. Recommended.

Yelp
Took my daughter and future son in law to Milky Way for lunch as they are both Kosher. I have to say i am not a big fan of kosher restaurants at all. I find that the food is overpriced and not as good as a regular restaurant in general. You go into restaurant and order at counter then they call you to pick up food when ready. I had a tuna sandwich with french fries and a Snapple iced tea. The food was just ok nothing special at all. The food is also very over priced. There where 4 of us total and the bill was $78 for lunch???????? I would not go back to Milky Way unless I absolutely had too. Definitely not a fan of overpriced just ok food.

Yelp
Went to lunch with my hubby, niece and her friend after going to Natural History Museum in Pittsburgh. My niece keeps kosher so eating out is only at a kosher restaurant for her. The place was packed with families! I ordered a veggie pizza slice and hubby had tuna fish on their homemade bun. Pizza piece was delicious and huge! Hubby really enjoyed his tuna sandwich! He said it was very moist and tasty. I recommend this restaurant because they have a new assortment of meals to choose from! There's also a salad bar which you tell them what you want and they put it all together for you.

Yelp
How can do many people take so long to serve such mediocre food and still not find time to clean the tables in between diners? The pizza is passable, considering it is Pittsburgh's only kosher pizza joint. However, the food is mediocre overall and the service is lacking.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is a somewhat small kosher restaurant. Counter service. The people are friendly and the service was fast. I had a tuna salad sandwich on a homemade bun. It was delicious

Yelp
This place is heaven for vegetarians (and those who keep kosher!). It is dairy only so all of the "meat" is meat substitute. I've gotten really delicious meatball subs and Philly cheesesteaks, things I never thought I'd have again as a vegetarian! The prices are reasonable, it's easy to order online, and service is incredibly fast. The inside area is small and no-frills, but does the job of giving a place to scarf down the delicious food.
google avatar

Yelp
Okay, this place is delicious! I am so happy I was able to give it a try! I've seen the restaurant but have never been until today! We ordered Milky Way in the office today and I got the tuna melt on a fresh roll and it was amazing!! I absolutely loved my sandwich! It was huge but I ate the whole thing because it was warm and fresh and exactly what I was hoping for! One of my coworkers got the "sweet Pete" and also said it was wonderful! I can't wait to try something else off their menu. Definitely recommend for lunch!!

Yelp
There are very few kosher spots around Pittsburgh and Milky Way happens to be one. Kosher dairy: Cholov Yisroel Pizzas, sandwiches/wraps, pasta, salads, soups, assorted fried items, pretzels etc. it's a pretty large menu with lots and lots of options. I always just come in for takeout, never stayed there. Always greeted with a friendly smile. Slice of cheese pizza $2.50 not any more expensive then other pizza joints. Pizza is pretty good, it's no NY pizza but it is the closest one I've had in Pittsburgh to it. Big salad bar. That's for sure my favorite part. $9.50 per salad. 30 or so different toppings and lots of dressings to pick from. You can pick as many and as much toppings as you want for your tossed salad. I load mine up with hearts of palm, olives, broccoli, tomatoes, crispy onions, chickpeas, and cucumbers. Big satisfying tasty salad. Spicy French fries delicious and crispy. Soups always rotate. My fav is the French onion. I mean overall I like the place. I don't think it's that expensive at all and they give big portions!

Yelp
Service was 5 stars. The staff was friendly, and the food was served quite fresh and fast. We dined on the Cheddar Ranch pizza. It was really tasty, but WAY cheesy and filling. Even my husband could only manage to eat a slice and a half. It was reasonably priced and i would get a pie from here again. The family sized cheese fries was AMPLE and well-priced. It came out piping hot and the fries were the perfect balance of crispy outside and soft inside. The soft serve ice cream is quite sweet. They basically give you a styro coffee cup and let you fill it as you choose, which is nice. They also have unlimited refills on fountain drinks, which gets major thumbs up from me and my family. To summarize: reasonably priced for kosher pizza, large servings, free refills on drinks in a fast, friendly, and clean place. We'll be back the next time we're in Pittsburgh.

Yelp
Milky Way has the most delicious pizza around as well as milkshakes that can't be beat. The online/in-store computer ordering system makes take out a snap.

Yelp
I rarely leave reviews on Yelp but the service at Milky Way makes me want to go on a freakin' reviewing crusade. The food was fine, the place was clean, etc., but the young red-haired girl who took our order completely killed the experience for me and my family. She spoke to us like we had learning disabilities, made faces like we were speaking in tongues, and was just generally so completely in-your-face disrespectful that I was prepared to walk out and I really wish I could rewind time so I could do just do that. She actually twisted up her face in a "wtf" mask when she didn't understand what my boyfriend was ordering on his calzone, and I will never be able to unsee her blatant disrespect. I had to physically point at the menu when I ordered my wrap on whole wheat because she gave me a blank look like I was making shit up. Again, food was fine but nothing mind-blowing. If it hadn't been for that girl's rude demeanor, I wouldn't even be wasting my time on this review. There was another guy working and he was very pleasant. If he had taken our orders, this would be a very different review. If you're really in the mood for a good vegetarian meal with delightful service, go to Zenith instead.

Yelp
This place has the best pizza I have ever tasted. The staff are really nice. They deserve big tips. The Eli kid is super cool. Overall would 10/10 recommend

AJ A.

Yelp
Great food, but really large portions. I know from experience that vegetarian food is usually really filling, so if you don't usually eat much, share. If you are here, and need a recommendation, I recommend the pretzels. The garlic pretzel!
google avatar

Kevin W.

Yelp
Went because it is vegetarian. Really this restaurant seems focused on kids in both menu and atmosphere.. If your goal is to feed the kids from what look like reasonably healthy choices and you are not picky about what you eat, go forth and enjoy. All others beware. The food is at best so so. I did enjoy the fries.

Yelp
This was our first time here. We bought takeout for the baseball game, fake chicken parm and fake meatball parm. We ordered fries and specified that they be well done. The meatball parm had onions and peppers. It was quite tasty. The chicken parm was pretty good but bland. The fries were a wilted mass of soggy potato yuck. We couldn't even eat them. They were nicely seasoned, which made even sadder to toss them all in the garbage. I so wanted them to knock it out of the park...

Yelp
Big disappointment. My coworker and I were in from out of town. When I spotted this place I dragged him there since he never had falafel, food that I grew up on in Israel. If he were to base his opinion on his experience here, he will never try it again. We had the falafel platter. The falafel balls were extremely small, hard and almost tasteless. The hummus and tahina were equally disappointing. The pita was ok. Unless you need to eat at a place with kosher supervision don't even try Milky Way.

Bob H.

Yelp
I love the Milky Way pizza. This is a kosher place, so you won't get pepperoni or sausage. The veggies are great though. They also offer amazing salads. My favorite thing they do is the oven-baked pretzels - huge - made from pizza dough and served with red sauce.
google avatar

Aleks K.

Yelp
On a quest for the best tuna melt sandwich? Look no further. I have tried them far and wide, and this is the one. It's a little pricey for a tuna melt (at around 10 dollars), but with the Israeli salad and the melted cheese and perfectly toasted bread, I keep coming back for it. You will too. It is a kosher place, so if you want to get your tuna melt in on a Friday, it will have to be at lunch time, which is the ideal tuna melt time anyway. I had the calzone once and it was also delicious, but otherwise I have not gotten around to trying anything else, yet. Just need to find the willpower to resist the tuna once I am there.

Yelp
Excellent pizza. Never had kosher pizza until a pharmaceutical representative brought it to our office. Food tasted great!
google avatar

Yelp
Don't let the minimalist decor fool you; this place is so tasty! My husband and I are not even vegetarian, but both our sandwiches (Popeyes and Battleship) were phenomenal and HUGE (could easily be split). The staff was also very friendly. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Milky Way is our favorite vegetarian spot in Pittsburgh. It does have a cafeteria-style feel and it can get busy on Thursdays and Sundays, but you can't do better if you're looking for American-style food. The sandwiches, paninis, and hoagies are all consistently great, and you don't miss the meat. They have good falafel and fake chicken with plenty of texture and flavor. They also have great milkshakes and sides. The sweet potato fries and its "secret" sauce is a favorite, with a nice crunch and a good mix of tangy and sweet. And the salad bar is the best! You get a wide range of vegetables, cheese, and dressings, and the salads are large enough to feed two or three. If you're looking for vegetarian-friendly comfort food or a good salad, then this is the place to go. It's also worth trying if you're not vegetarian or keeping kosher, if just to see what they have to offer.

Hil S.

Yelp
I was here last week and thought there were a lot of great choices for me at a reasonable price. As a vegetarian, I was happy to hear there was no meat in the store and enjoyed the food. The place was nice and clean and if I am in the area I will be back.

Sean S.

Yelp
Great vegetarian place that sells impossible burgers. Food was great, place was clean and staff was nice. Burger was done nicely.

Craig L.

Yelp
As a person who maintains a kosher home I would love to give Milky Way a rave review but I must be honest. Together with a non-Jewish friend we decided to try Milky Way (my previous visit was three years ago). We both ordered a fried fish platter which unfortunately was not good. Our young server was very friendly and competant but the food...meh. The fish was not fresh, the fries were underdone and the bread was tasteless. Even though there were very few diners in the restaurant the food arrived 45 minutes later. It was neither tasty nor even acceptable. When we both requested the fries be recooked it seemed to annoy the young man at the stove. Neither of us want to return.
google avatar

Yelp
Overpriced and under managed. Jalapeño poppers thrown in the oven and not made with actual peppers... $7.00?! Also, I ordered a bowl of soup, paid for it and then was told they were out. Got a refund but no soup. Bummer! Now the manager is addressing his staff within ear shot of customers... Hmmmm... I've eaten here 2 others time and had similar experiences. Maybe it's time to write it off my list.

Iliana C.

Yelp
Went here to check out the only vegetarian restaurant in Squirrel Hill (that i know of). It feels very much like a place you would see at the food court of a mall. Everything is served on paper plates with plastic utensils. The food however is pretty tasty and kosher. I would come here if you're a vegetarian/vegan and want to eat out for not a lot of money.
google avatar

Yelp
Soooo good. Some of the best pizza I've ever had. We got the cheddar ranch and it was amazing. The menu was HUGE with tons of options and everything looked delicious. The fries (garlic parm) were great. Can't wait till I'm back in Pittsburgh.
google avatar

Jim H.

Yelp
Good kosher pizza and sandwiches. Dairy and vegetarian. They have specials that are also very good.
google avatar

Jim S.

Yelp
Where can you find a better Kosher pizza place than Milky Way? I tried their pizza a few times and I love it.No meat,no guilt! I haven't dined in there(it was mostly served where I was).It has a great taste(especially the veggie pizza),oh man-that's great! Whether you keep Kosher or not, here is a place that serves some great pizza!
google avatar

Pamela S.

Yelp
Great friendly clean environment. Quick service and owner is really nice. Great for people who keep kosher or are vegetarians. Very family friendly which I like.

Yelp
Before visiting Milky Way two months ago, it had been about four years since I'd eaten there. In my memory it had been a little grubby but a lot has changed and I now eat there whenever I have the chance. The dining room is clean and bright, the salads, which are mixed to order, are bountiful and fresh, and the eggplant parm is delicious. Fresh pretzels melt in your mouth and pizza is good too.

Lauren S.

Yelp
This kosher pizza is comparable to NY pizza! It was surprisingly amazing! The dough was especially delicious. I also had the vegetarian meatball parmigiana that I've never seen anywhere else! I definitely recommend it to people who are shomer kashrut and vegetarians!

Brittney C.

Yelp
Not great, its an ok pizza shop I guess. Their quite expensive tho. Foods not amazing.

Moshe N.

Yelp
This is the best restaurant in Pittsburgh the French fee is and salad and poppers are so good and the pizza its really good food and many options one what you would like

Mark W.

Yelp
Falafel was just ok. One of cooks dropped his giant rolling pin and then just put it back on his work surface

stacy s.

Yelp
After a long day, we decended on Milky Way in a party if ten, with half a dozen children. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The food was hot and fresh. Even the pizza was good and I am not a huge fan. We had falafel in different forms, very good, esp. the green hot sauce!!! And some kid friendly stand bys like pizza and fries- which some places get lax on. Not here though. Hot, fresh, and tasty!! And BEST of all Kosher.

Erin R.

Yelp
This is a casual place that has excellent pizza by the slice. You can order a whole pizza as well. They have tons of different kinds of pizza, and I really liked the crust. It's kosher (as in Orthodox dairy kosher), which is a big plus. They have salads, soft serve, panini's, and some entrées as well. Customer service is decent. There is a large seating area, but again it's very casual. Great place for lunch. I would recommend going!

L H.

Yelp
We had the fake meatball sandwich and "chicken" sandwich. Loved the fries! I'm not sure if this is typical, but the meatball sandwich was cold in certain spots in the sandwich and since the other sandwich took awhile to make, I saw our fries sit out on the counter for awhile. I *love* hot fries! But by the time we got them, they were warm. Still good, but I would've preferred they just gave us the fries ASAP and they served the sandwiches separately anyways. I would go back to eat the fries ; would get a different sandwich- many other options.

Joshua S.

Yelp
Good kosher pizza. Salad bar is great. Solid sandwiches and soups.

Sarah K.

Yelp
Love their eggplant pizza! Awesome salad bar. You can get as many add ins for your salad as you want! Comfortable environment and friendly staff.
