Miller Mountain Park, often referred to as Mill Mountain in Roanoke, is a popular spot for enjoying scenic mountain views and vibrant sunsets. The park offers several overlooks along its trails, providing expansive views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Roanoke Valley. The iconic Mill Mountain Star, a massive illuminated structure, adds charm to the area, especially after dark. Another nearby choice for sunset-watching is the Roanoke Mountain Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway, where visitors can take in a quieter atmosphere with picnic spots and panoramic views of the valley. Both locations make for an ideal setting to relax, take photos, and watch the sun set over Roanoke’s landscape.

A great park. Best views of Roanoke. Very clean and safe. They need to bring back the vending machines though. Also for now there are no drones allowed. Great place to take photos or a family.

If you're looking for an absolutely breathtaking experience, the Mill Mountain Star is a must-visit! As the largest man-made star in the U.S., it's an iconic and stunning landmark. The views from the top are simply incredible, offering a panoramic view of the city and its sparkling lights—definitely photo-worthy! Whether you're visiting during the day to see the city in all its glory or at night to catch the twinkling lights, the scenery is nothing short of mesmerizing. The location is well-maintained and accessible, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing outing. Highly recommend this spot for anyone seeking beauty, serenity, and a memorable experience!

Great views, well maintained at least in the areas we saw. Sad that people have to graffiti things and drop trash, but some folks apparently had terrible "parents" or "friends." Nice areas to walk and view the beauty of God's creation.

It’s honestly such a beautiful sight of the whole city/town of Roanoke. If you go early in the day it’s pretty empty, but around 5pm the place starts to get really busy and a little bit packed, but either way you’re still able to admire and take in the whole scenery. You’re more able to get pictures of the stars because of its size but if you arrive early you’re able to take enough pictures of the scenery before more people comes in and tries to sneak into your spot to start and taking theirs. So staying there since 5 is nice because you can see the lights of the city turning in the darker it gets.

This is by far my favorite overlook in the valley. You can see for miles and it's easy access for those who don't want to hike. For families, it's clean, safe, and there's the draw of the picnic and playground for free and the zoo's prices are reasonable. If you enjoy a challenge, walk down and back up Prospect (the trail before the start) or run it in the spring with the footlevelers races!

Was only able to access the trails and gardens of Mill Mountain Park and not the zoo as we had our little dog with us and the zoo prohibits pets. The gardens area was absolutely beautiful. Extremely well maintained. For the most part we wore our masks. Some others did as well, some did not. I was pushing my daughter in her wheelchair on the trails. It was a little tiring at times but there are areas on the trails to sit, rest and just appreciate the peacefully beautiful surroundings. If you plan to go in a wheelchair plan to have an energetic, reasonably strong individual to assist you. Unless you're on the pavement you won't be able to navigate the trails by yourself. There is a parking lot at no cost but on this Saturday afternoon we had to wait a bit before a spot opened up. There are just a few handicapped spots available. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on this free weekend outing and it was nice to be outside around folks enjoying the day as well.
