The hotel was spectacular! Its location is perfect for exploring Chicago, just two blocks from Lake Michigan. The service was excellent, the rooms were spotless, fresh-smelling, and impeccably clean, even with carpeted floors. The bathrooms were also extremely clean and well maintained. Everything was truly impeccable. Honestly, I have no complaints at all. Highly recommended!

Arrived at the hotel around 10pm, checking in with the front desk staff was simple and quick, I was also given 2 bottles of water. They have a bar and restaurant in the hotel which is convenient. I had a standard King which amazingly has a living room and separate bedroom. The room was clean and welcoming, and the temperature was just right. The room has a separate bath and standing shower section within the bathroom. I guess the only thing I didn't like was the view from my room which was the back of some buildings as well as some roofs, also the elevator key readers need to be updated because they didn't read the room key right away so you have to hold them there all the way up until the doors close. It is conveniently on the Millennium Mile so there's a ton of shopping just steps away and the beach is only a block away. I'll definitely be back.

Positive: The staff was amazingly friendly ad polite. I felt very welcome and recognized. Even the room cleaning staff would make a point to say good morning/good afternoon and ask if we needed anything as we walked down the hallway. Negative: It was NOT the hotel's fault, but I got stuck on an elevator for about 40 minutes. Mainly because too many people loaded on, even though the signs say 4 people max. So, again, not the hotel's fault, but a very uncomfortable situation.

The only major issue we had with this place is that they gave us a room that didn't have a fridge when we first arrived. But they fixed it quickly. The hotel was neat, clean, and, beautiful. And it was centrally located. I would add, though, be prepared to pay lots of extra fees (early check-in, daily convenience fee, etc.). I'd probably give this place 3.5 stars if the option existed.

My experience was marred by multiple issues that significantly impacted my trip, including lack of transparency, poor communication, and misleading financial arrangements. ||
At check-in, my card was charged a pre-authorization ($400) for incidentals without prior notification of the amount. When I requested to use a different card, the staff declined, leaving me unable to access my spending money for the trip. This was not only embarrassing but forced me to borrow from friends and family, ruining my Chicago experience. Clear communication about the $400 charge would have prevented this.||Upon checkout out, I learnt that there were a hidden daily fee of $23.48 for services described as ‘complimentary’ such as Wi-Fi and bottled water upon check in. Also included were fax services, fitness centre access, phone calls, and luggage storage of which were not used. These charges were not disclosed at check-in, which is misleading and unfair practice. ||I should not have to pay for complimentary water and what is stated as free WiFi. I was left with no choice but to pay this - I feel non other than ripped off, and robbed. ||I have also experienced misleading payment arrangements at checkout.
I requested to pay the daily fees using a separate card, and the receptionist assured me that these would be deducted from the pre-authorisation. However, upon returning home, I found that a separate payment was taken instead, contrary to what was promised. This has left me in financial difficulty, as I was informed that it could take up to two weeks for the pre-authorization to be released.||The lack of empathy and accountability from your staff exacerbated these issues. I feel misled, unheard, and financially disadvantaged, which has caused significant distress and impacted my ability to manage bills. This experience stands in stark contrast to any other hotel stay I have had.||This process must be changed.

Reviews are very accurate! I wish i read them before booking and fully paying for the room. The check in and reception is by far the worst I ever had. Not welcoming, rude and not helpful. Even though the room was already fully paid for, they want to charge $100 per night security deposit! They never mentioned that during the booking and the receptionist replied ‘if you don’t like it go ahead and cancel the booking, if our reviews are that bad why book’. When i showed her that people are writing they don’t refund safety deposit she kept repeating ’2 business days’ whiteout addressing the issue. I am stuck waiting for a manager to talk to, she refused to check me in even though room is fully paid for! It’s really unfortunate that i didn’t go through the reviews before booking. I DO NOT RECOMMEND at all to book here, even for the location. It’s a complete scam. There are lots of similar hotels around.

Google
Perfectly centric hotel. A couple steps from magnificent mile and an easy 10 min bus ride to millennium park. Overall great stay. Common areas such as the lobby and hallways are a bit outdated (stained carpet, older upholstery, but still clean). Room was clean upon arrival and very spacious. Rooms do not have usb plugs so make sure you take your brick AND wire.

Beautiful older hotel but without the price tag of its neighbor. Has a bar and restaurant. Great customer service. Highly recommend! We really enjoyed our stay.

Yelp
Terrible Experience - Rude Service and Unacceptable Treatment of Our Belongings I had an extremely disappointing experience at the Knickerbocker Millenium in Chicago The staff's lack of professionalism and respect for their guests was shocking. They mistakenly thought our reservation had ended and proceeded to move all of our belongings out of our room without any notice. To make matters worse, they carelessly threw our items into luggage, which felt incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. My husband's prescription glasses were throw into the bottom of one of my bags, and my leather jacket was balled up, which had been hanging in a closet. We were out with family and the staff called my husband and said we moved all your stuff because you checked out late and didn't pay. My husband told them we had paid and our reservations were until the next day then they said oh no we didn't move your stuff then they said they did make a mistake, but they didn't move our stuff... they kept going back-and-forth. at first they tried to make up for their mistake by giving us one night reimbursement then they tried to give us a voucher for a free breakfast. Then they ended up giving us a two night reimbursement with two vouchers which we could not use because we were leaving early the next morning before breakfast was even being served. then after we got home, they charged us for late check out, but then told us that they gave us the money back, which we had to explain that we did not check out late because we couldn't even use the vouchers that they gave us. We should have known that this was going to be an issue because when we first got to the hotel, the staff was extremely rude and unwelcoming. They were giving us rude looks while we were waiting for check-in, which was very surprising considering we had a group with us and had 17 guests at the hotel and we gave them quite a lot of business. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable for any hotel. I expected much better treatment and a higher level of responsibility. I will not be staying here again and would advise others to be cautious when booking with this hotel.

Yelp
Still pending! Unbelievable. Wish I could give them -10000000 stars! They claim they will look into it and still haven't! I'll keep updating this until it finally clears!

Yelp
I called in phone first and they were very polite. I didn't check in, but it was a priceline deal and my partner started that it was uneventful. $70 for a few blocks from the Magnificent Mile and the Water Tower. The location was everything. Older hotel. I love older hotels. Small room with fridge and am amazing rain shower. Vincent held our bags and was a very friendly man. Great conversationalist. Treated us like royalty. A highlight is when he showed us the ballroom.

Yelp
We booked the Millenium Knickerbocker through AirBnB for under $100 per night for 4 nights! For this super-bargain price, we weren't sure what we were going to get. We were pleasantly surprised to find an easy check-in process, a clean lobby, comfortable room, and a great view! This is definitely an older hotel, and it needs a bit of updating. However, it was perfect for what we were looking for! They had room cleaning service daily. They brought fresh towels and made the bed. The gym was pretty spacious and adequate for a good workout. The location is great! It's right by the Gold Coast and Magnificent Mile. It's very close to a lot of high-end shopping and a plethora of food options. I would recommend staying here, especially if you are looking for the most bang for your buck.

Yelp
Great hotel located walking distance from Magnificent Mile street. I stayed for 2 nights and it was an amazing experience, very spacious room with super comfortable beds. The front desk staff were friendly, prompt and helpful at all times. There is a bar and restaurant on the first floor. I had a margarita at the bar, pretty fresh and delicious. Overall, great location with old modern art deco style.

Yelp
I stayed recently at the Millennium Knickerbocker for a business meeting. The room was pretty nice for an older hotel that dates back to Al Capone. We used the crystal ballroom for an evening event and it was very nice. One of the first light up dance floors in the USA. Catered food was excellent. We also used the top floor meeting rooms that were great very open and bright. Again good food throughout our time. Excellent service from the staff too. My first time here while in Chicago but had a great stay.

Yelp
Everything was great. Two things. The tv in our room didn't work. You could turn it on but not select any of the stations. Lastly and most importantly- the breakfast was by far the worst food I have ever had in my life. $30 for eggs, sausage, potato's, toast, coffee. The sausage was obviously microwaved or boiled and the potato's were rock hard and everything had a very bad taste. The coffee was worse than a truck stop.

Yelp
I would rate this zero stars if I could it's a terrible hotel full of black mold, bed bugs and is HAUNTED!! Don't give me started on the parking scams. you can't find it on Google maps, Apple Maps, etc it shows it on a completely different street so that should've been my first red flag. After check in I checked the restroom and the lining above the door was a full of black mold!!! I went to go get a room change and when I showed them the black mold pictures all they had to say was "you must be on the top floor". they told me they couldn't provide a new room because it was too late at night and they were booked. I left came back a few hours later, pleaded with the front desk & they gave me another room. Had to buy new clothing, toothbrush, etc. because all my things got covered in mold spores. The front desk receptionist and hospitality manager did not care nor offer any type of compensation. Do not go here! They do not care if you get sick you're just another $$$ to them!!!

Yelp
Our friend found this hotel . They had a deal which wasn't terrible so we figured why not we can stay here. My husband and I got here early morning and we asked him what time is check in and they said by 3 PM but they can always check in early if they have room and if it is early morning, then we would charge us $40 for the early check in. My experience staying in different hotels, if there is a room ready even if it's three hours prior to your check in time, m, they would offer us and we can check in. So I asked them around noon as it is the room ready, they said yes but if you wanna check in, it's still gonna be $40 now. I have not seen that other hotels where there's a room ready they will just let you check in if it's few hours before and not charge you. However, I felt like this place just want to charge you for every little thing. Rooms were okay, windows could be cleaner. I may or may not stay here again Part of their hotel they have bar and breakfast. We didn't get breakfast but our friends had good things to say however their bar service. They're just so pushy! And just want you to order they get upset! I mean the area is part of the lobby so I can sit and order nothing! It seems that service is definitely an issue with Chicago spots!

Yelp
Really enjoyed you stay here. The staff are really warm and welcoming. They really went above and beyond to make our stay lovely. They stored our luggage until we checked in so we didn't have to lug it around. People complain about the room size but it's very clear on the website so they really don't have a reason to be surprised. It's in a great area of Chicago and so close to many attractions. Right off Michigan avenue as well.

Yelp
Wonderful hotel in a great location. So much history on this street! Walking distance to amazing restaurants and shopping. Extremely close the Oak Street Beach.

Yelp
The Millennium Knickerbocker has a colorful past, as does The Drake across the street. However, we arrived late enough in the evening that everything on the 14th floor was closed, so I don't know if Al Capones brother in law's speakeasy is still up there. There's no on-site parking, as the hotel is located downtown. It's in a very walkable area, though. The boyfriend and I were pretty wired after check in, so we spent several hours wandering the city at 2am. We're comfortable walking around in Baltimore but late night city wandering isn't for everyone, especially if you're going to piss your pants every time you see a rat. Personally, I would have never picked to stay at this place. But we were traveling with another couple and it was their anniversary. They went right to sleep (or not) upon check in and didn't join our sightseeing until check-out the next morning. I don't know if the hotel provided breakfast, as they wanted to go to Stan's Donut shop - which failed to impress. The boyfriend and I prefer lower priced places such as motel 6, but at least they had an accessible room. The elevator are hilarious, with the mirrors that face each other. Look down before the doors close to make your stomach do funny things. The view outside our window wasn't anything special, but we didn't stay in the room much. I don't know if it was worth the price... I'm going to leave it up to you to decide if this is the choice for you.

Yelp
I have stayed here many times. The staff was very friendly and the room very comfortable. Nicely appointed and maid service was prompt. Vincent was a joy to meet and very friendly. Stopped at the bar for a cocktail. Bartender was an older gentleman and very friendly. Great location on the Magnificent mile and a Historic Hotel. Only concerns which kept this review from 5 stars is they no longer offer valet parking, but there is a garage at the Drake across the street which is $45 per day. Also, the Nix restaurant in the hotel needs management help. I had breakfast which was French Toast. It took 45 minutes to receive. The next morning I came down for pastries and coffee to take back to my room. I was told they could only serve seated customers because someone didn't show up to work so pastries and coffee to go was not an option. I walked down 1 block to the Bavarian Bakery and it was great.

Yelp
Warning: this hotel is not at advertised. The only good things about this place are the location (centrally located) and the photographers who made this place look decent. The bathroom sink would not drain, the tv provides only Netflix or YouTube IFF it even works. We arrived to a room with a busted remote and Netflix that wouldn't load. When we called the engineer took 35 minutes to get to our room. They charge a property fee for internet that's sooooo slow and a fitness room...oh and also there was a high pitched ringing sound at this place the entire time we were in our room. If you're looking for sleep, this is not the place for you. Also, no room service, no working ATM, no lobby/convenience store in hotel, closest one is a 5 minute walk and the restaurant won't give you a soda outside of the restaurant.

Yelp
The pros: it's a good location, the personnel are friendly, the housekeepers do a good job. The cons: no microwave in the rooms, questionable, coffee maker, no concierge's available and there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY you can take a shower without being blasted with cold water from the first second. I HAVE NO IDEA WHO APPROVED THIS DESIGN (PHOTO ATTACHED), BUT THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO TAKE SHOWERS IN IT.

Jennifer Y.

Yelp
No frills. Clean, quiet, lovely room. We got in super late on a Sunday night and staff was so accommodating to provide us with a beautiful cheese fruit and bread platter. We were welcomed like we belonged there. Room was clean. Housekeeping was excellent. Front desk was pleasant. Downstairs barista was pleasant and helpful each morning. Enjoyed our stay and will book in the future.

Yelp
One star was more than they deserve! Traveling and love to stay in older, chic hotels.... We usually stay at the drake, decided to try knickerbocker, big mistake! Staff not very friendly, hotel old and dirty.. I'm from the desert so 60 degrees and rain is very cold to me. I requested the heat in our room and I was told the heat is off!!! They are only in a/c mode for the summer. When I inquired about this I was treated very rudely and dismissive. "It's summer" is the only explanation. Also, no room service. Stay at the drake if you want old world charm, stay at the knickerbocker if you like rude, cold and no room service!

Yelp
We love Chicago and every time we go we stay downtown. This particular hotel had a special so we decided to stay. When you walk into the hotel it is decorated with hints of old school and a modern bar feel. It's near everything so once you park you should be fine to walk to everything. Because it is in downtown Chicago, I do suggest either parking at the hotel or downloading spot hero. Now the rooms are smaller, but it was just my husband and I. Ice machines are not always on your floor but the views are great. The bathroom has been updated and has all of the bathroom technological advances included was a rain shower! The staff was nice which took away from how dated the hotel can look in some Areas! Hi

Yelp
Hotel was .. nice. I paid to upgrade and we got a basic room which wasn't nice since we only came here for my birthday lol we also had to pay $65 (yes $65) for parking 2 blocks over bc security said the lot was full and as we were walking up with our suitcases, he was letting a car park LOL love that. I wouldn't really recommend because service was just not there. We also ordered breakfast which they don't have room service but you can go down and order and they'll call your room (? So weird) overpriced and the food was mehhhh. I did like that we could bring our drinks from the bar to our room but that's ::... normal lol

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and save your money. I checked in around 4:30am on Oct. 13 and was fully checked out by 7:30am. Someone tried opening my door three times in a row, but since I had the latch on they were unsuccessful. Not only did they try opening my door, but what woke me up was them SLAMMING the door open and it catching on the latch every time. I immediately packed up my belongings and checked out. On my way down to the front desk I happened to run into the housekeeping ladies and asked if they had tried opening my door by chance, and they said no, because they just got on to my floor. Once I got to the front desk I told the young woman checking me out why I was checking out so soon and her response was "Who was trying to get into your room?" and then took my key without further questions or without trying to help in any way. Frustrated because I slept maybe 2 hours and was feeling unsafe I left and tried speaking to the hotel manager afterwards. After SEVERAL attempts it took about a week and a half for the hotel manager to call me back and tell me that he thinks I may have left the door open on accident. However, he agreed to check the security tapes. Here we are a little over 3 weeks later, after SEVERAL attempts and messages I've only received one call from Gabino, the hotel manager, and no real answers or help. If you are a solo traveler, especially a woman, this place is not safe. Do not stay there.

Yelp
Worst experience of my traveling career......we had a cousins trip for our cousins 50th birthday and had a great weekend Fri-Mon planned. We all arrived at numerous times from numerous destinations and all got to the hotel around 2 pm on Friday. We all gathered in the closed bar area and brought our own drinks in to wait for the rest of the group to arrive and wait until check in time. Around 3 the martini bar employee walked over and placed a no outside alcohol sign directly in our line of sight without even addressing us first or asking us to leave. There were 17 of us and we had approximately 9 rooms. We left and continued to enjoy our weekend until Sunday afternoon after being in and out of the hotel until about 2 pm then went to watch football. Around 3 pm I received a phone call from hotel telling me that I did not pay and our bags have been packed up and moved from our room. I told them I was paid up until Monday and they argued even though I was looking at my reservations on my phone. They realized they messed up and placed me on hold for approximately 10 mins then told me our bags were never packed up or moved and tried to back pedal by offering us a refund of one night. We returned to hotel and discovered our bags were actually packed up and moved out of our room. We returned home and discovered we got charged an additional $106 and did not know why. Called customer service who told us we were charged $106 for late checkout, $35/hr. My wife and I left for our flight at 645am. So many problems with this staff and hotel. I recommend never staying at this hotel, staff is horrible.

Yelp
Very kind and patient staff members. The food from Nix restaurant is good, and the interior and overall aesthetic of the hotel is nice. The elevators and luggage carts could use an upgrade, however, and some of the rooms on the higher floors are in need of repairs as I had a slightly clogged sink, occasional issues with the fan/heat, and a slightly loose bathroom door during my stay. I'd also like to extend my thanks to the bellman, Craig, for great conversation and for assisting me during my departure! I was exhausted and his help was very much needed. If I wasn't in a rush, I would've tipped him. The same with the doorman! Overall, this hotel isn't my #1 but I wouldn't mind another short-term stay here.

Yelp
I stayed here for a weekend in Chicago. As other reviews state, obviously I was not here for a 5 star experience. I was here for the reasonable priced room, walkability to the L and many shops/restaurants. Yes there may not be an ice machine on your floor or a microwave in the room but the bathrooms are all updated and clean. Being an old hotel you get a lot of history. With that history the place could use a spruce up but I'm not complaining. The only issue I had was everyone in our party came out with some odd bites. Not a ton, but enough to be a bother. We checked the beds/sheets etc but assume there were bedbugs hiding in some of the upholstery, maybe the headboards or the giant bolster pillows. This isn't the end of the world but it did skeev us out and I hope the hotel does regular dog checks for bugs.

Yelp
There are absolutely no amenities. No room service or bar service. We rented a room and the cost $400 on a Thursday night. Then we saw it for 89.00 a non hit on another site . The showers are rain showers and run from the ceiling. Not conducive for natural hair gals!!!! The hotel is a bit dated and it shows. Our toilet didn't work. In fact it took a long time for the water to empty until we figured that it just didn't work. Not a pleasant experience. We even had to request that they snake the toilet and they offered to put us in another room. However it was smaller than what we asked for . It's definitely not the ideal experience. Also there is no place to heat up leftovers so gosh! No food and no microwave!! A superior double has 2 Full size beds in them. What a waste of money to spend that much and get a full size bed !??!!!

Yelp
MK hotel is at a good location. Convenient to places, walkable along N. Michigan, Millennium Park, River Walk, even all the way to Buckingham Memorial Fountain. It is easy to take buses and trains as well. The hotel may have a musty smell along the corridors to the rooms, but it was a surprise as I open my room. The room was very clean, bed linens and towels were fresh and white. The room has all the basic essentials you need for your stay. The only thing to know is the pillows were too soft and the loud air condition at night. I have to put a pair of ear plugs to cancel out the loudness. Other than that, the room provided comfort during my stay. Kudos to the housekeeper crew. They were fantastic in doing their work. Each day I return to my room, I felt it was my first day. I definitely will return and stay at Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel again.

Yelp
The check in process was fast and easy. The lady at the counter was very friendly. Everything down stairs was closed off looks like what used to be a restaurant and a bar. The room was kinda small but for the price it's decent. The shower is newly upgraded and nice. The view was And the room wasn't as clean as expected. There was the prior persons socks under the dresser and garbage under the bed both visible without looking under them.

Yelp
Nice hotel, but some issues would prevent us from staying here again. Really nice older hotel with neat history - well maintained over all. We arrived late and got checked in quickly - dropping off our luggage upstairs (12th floor) we returned to the Martini bar for a bite to eat and something to drink. Food was good and the Martini's even better! They have 3 small elevators, 1 of which was out of commission most of our visit there. They were smooth though - one of my party is afraid of elevators and was fine with riding them. The carpet looks a little dingy on the 12th floor, but not horrible. You can tell it see's a lot of foot traffic though. The room was also on the small side, but not bad. The cabinet where the mini fridge was had a broken hinge, so we had to be careful when opening and closing it. Furniture was up to date. View was the buildings across the street (Walton). Bed was clean and comfortable. There was no microwave in the room. The bathroom became the deal breaker for us and the reason why we would not book here again. It was clean, don't get me wrong, but almost not use-able. Specifically - toilet is set into the wall (not the floor) and is too high. My partner's feet, who is 5'8", could not reach the ground when sitting on it. I'm almost 6 feet tall and was on my toes when sitting. I don't know if you've ever tried to do a #2 in that position, but its not easy. :\ The shower would lose water pressure about 5 mins into the shower, completely turning off. We learned a trick to get it back working, but then the temp would be either freezing or scalding hot. The lighting inside was not bright enough to apply makeup. Nix, their restaurant downstairs, is a bit overpriced for what you get although the food is good. I'm not a coffee drinker but my partner is and said the coffee was very good too. I can vouch for the OJ - it was good with just enough pulp. The staff was always nice and welcoming. Honestly, if it wasn't for the bathroom and shower situation, we would book here again

Yelp
So far, really not great. Front desk told us the train from the airport required a switch to a bus and then back to the train on weekends but...it doesn't. (Good thing we didn't pay 5 times more than necessary for an Uber.) Then another staff member told us the wrong train stop to disembark, and we ended up walking 1.5 miles with our luggage. (It's my hometown and a great town but we were already tired from traveling.) Upon arrival we're handed two small bottles of water. Then we got a cramped room where the fan was broken and beyond loud. Switched. Now we're in a room where we can still hear loud something from outside (I think it's another building's generators) and the heat in the room makes a terrible watery sound but we're pretending it's white noise because we can't move again. Also the room is rundown and in real need of update: worn, dirty carpet, dinged furniture, marks on the walls. Amenities are low-rent: cheap, questionable coffee maker, meh soap and little of it, no microwave, scratchy towels. There's also no information in the room about the hotel - how to log into the wifi (and, again, the front desk was no help) or where the restaurant is and its hours. The whole thing just feels tired and on the cheap side. We got a deal but not enough of one to compensate for the trip so far. Location is AMAZING though. Update: The plugs to charge computers, phones, are so old and wobbly you have to get it just right or no charge. Also you can't control the heat and it is freezing in our room in late May. Building engineer apologized profusely and said 1. he gets this same call all the time and 2. he can't do anything about it. 3. front desk continues to be useless. 4. breakfast pretty darn overpriced but at least that's expected in a downtown hotel. The disappointment continues.

Yelp
Not often do we stay at such an elegant hotel such as the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel. The entrance itself says so much about the grand history and the lavish lifestyle of the decadent Chicagoans of their hay day. However with all the decadent tastes aside, when we first arrived, we were told that some of the services such as the bar, the restaurant, and the gym will not be available to us. The front desk said that we will be responsible for paying for services not given to us. We asked why. If we will not use the services then why charge us for non services? That does not make sense. Then the front desk person said he will bring it up to management. I started to feel a bit uncomfortable as I saw there was 1 toilet roll and only 3 pillows for 2 people. Serious??? As we entered the elevator, we saw a sign that explained the limited services due to The COVID-19. That makes sense, but as guests, we still need to feel rested during our stay. Note to self: Need to look at what Expedia charged and then what the hotel charged.

Yelp
The main website ads for bar and restaurant open on site. During business hours of course. Yet that was not accurate. For how busy as this hotel seems they really should have the bar and dining area open to help boost volume for the owner/owners. Tisk Tisk. THE FRONT HOUSE STAFF IS VERY NICE ILL SAY. I CAN APPRECIATE A SMILE UPON ARRIVE. THANK YOU.

Yelp
Made me feel very unwelcome from the moment I got there. Bed was ok. Toilet didn't flush properly & the shower sucked. Then they slapped some $85 charge for services I didn't use.

Yelp
I stayed here for 8 nights in June and was very happy with not only the accommodations but also the level of service that I received during my stay. I needed to check out just an hour late and the Front Service Attendant, Bavel Lawrence was so kind and helpful!! Bavel went above and beyond to make sure my stay was exceptional and offered me complimentary bottled water. The hotel was clean, very quiet and in a great location. The housekeeping staff always greeted me with a smile and Ms. Patrica keep my room immaculate! Thanks to service members like Bavel and Patricia I will definitely be choosing the Millennium Knickerbocker for my next stay in Chicago!!!

Yelp
This hotel is in a really good location, right off Michigan Avenue. It is a little tucked away in a quieter area so you feel a little removed from all the city craziness. The lobby is very outdated as well as most of the common rooms. The elevator was pretty dirty and had multiple stains and trash on the ground. The room was clean and very large, especially for the area being directly downtown. The furnishings are a little old, the TV is small, and there is no mini refrigerator but the bathroom was huge and there is an amazing bath / shower with a huge soaking her tub. Overall this hotel isn't anything special, but the rooms are large and decently clean. I wouldn't stay here over other hotels but it is a good option if you're in the area and can't find anything else..

Yelp
So service here was awesome! Staff was super friendly and answered all my questions. Great location for it is close to shopping and food. I only gave it three starts because ( and most of these things are fixable) 1) I had hair in my towel. 2) the heater unit doesn't work properly or well enough. It takes forever to heat the room and is loud. I don't sleep well with that kind of noise but it wouldn't kick off since it takes hours to go two degrees. 3) sheets were ripped in multiple places.Time to replace them but they will probably just wash them and use again 4) my shower door opened into the shower which is a boo boo on someone's part because it's supposed to open out. The seal is clearly on making it for open outward and the door won't close properly. So when you turn on the shower if you forget to take your towels off the rack on the door it will get wet. 5) I assume they haven't cleaned the vents because every time I have to turn the heater on I sneeze and my nose gets stuffy from allergies. 6) wallpaper hanging and a light bulb was out in my room 7) no microwave in the hotel Everything is fixable but if they do it or not is the question. I'd come back again.

Yelp
The most uncomfortable hotel stay I've ever had. As a guest, you cannot regulate the temperature in your room. My room was 75°-80° every night and I could not sleep. I actually went to the front desk at 4am to make them aware of this. As much as they seemed like they cared, they did not. I was told them someone would follow up with me about my concerns and I was never contacted. I also sent an email to ownership about this issue and to date, no one has contacted me. For the record, I am not just a tourist complaining about something they have no perspective on, I live in hotels 10-11 months a year because of the work that I do. This is the only hotel I've ever stayed at where I could not regulate the temperature of my room, and when my concerns were known, actions weren't taken to make my stay more comfortable. They flat out don't care. Do not stay here.

Yelp
Picking out our hotel we said let's pick this one out because it seem very clean and expensive but in a good location so we arrived no check in till 3pm if you try checking in before it will be $25 fee . Can't check out no later than 12pm if you want to stay later it will be $25 each hour . So we said okay we left the bags in the lobby and went for a walk when we came back to check in we went to the room the pictures online were nothing close to the size of the room soo small like New York rooms The bathroom rubber was falling off the shower and the rugs in the room smell sooo bad we order towels it took over 2 hours to arrive other than that the hotel is nice and the staff are super nice .but for the amount of money we spent we could've went somewhere else with breakfast this place don't give free breakfast.

Yelp
The MK is a beautiful classic hotel. Incredibly well located and priced very reasonably, especially for the Miracle Mile. In response to some other reviews, it always astounds me when people expect the Ritz Carlton for Holiday Inn prices. Ignore the reviews comparing this to a motel - these are the same people who move the beds to see if there's dust under there. (Surprise, there usually is) The lobby is old and gorgeous, and rooms were more than sufficiently upgraded. (The rainfall shower was a nice touch) However there were a couple of quirks: -The check in process was slow. As a result of the MK's age, the check in desk is verrrry small for a hotel of this size. -I had a very snippy encounter with one of the lobby men. I'm a jazz pianist that has played in hotel bars on numerous occasions. The MK has a baby grand piano in the lobby. When I asked to move a chair from the lobby so I could play it for a few minutes, the doorman acted as though I had personally insulted him. He said "no, and don't touch anything over there. If you need to move a chair, move one from the lounge area." To get clarity, I asked "so...if I move a lounge area chair, I can play for a bit?" and he responded "as I just said, you may not touch the piano." Keep in mind, I'm not some random person from off the street...I was a guest. He could have at least said "sorry, we have our piano player come in on weekends and don't allow others to play it." Instead, he spoke to me like I was a precocious toddler who needed to be dealt with. This experience was largely mitigated by 2 other employee interactions: the door man who recommended a great lunch place, and a different lobby man who was nice enough to discuss the history of the hotel for a couple of minutes. Overall, I would stay here again- I'll just know not to ask about the *apparently* decorative piano in the lobby.

Yelp
Great location and atmosphere. Really close to everything and definitely walkable. Loved the history of the crystal balroom. Thanks to Vincent for a memorable and awesome picture capturing our moment in time!

Yelp
This Millennium hotel is terrible. I can't tell you if the room is good or bad because for the past 40 min I've been in line to get my key. One man at the checkin. But 25 parties or so in line. Earlier request to check in was denied. I'd suggest a better rated hotel. Don't forget folks, you are entitled to and paying for rooms starting at the designated check in time which is not being honored. Not to mention I checked in online at their request. Obviously that didn't matter .

Yelp
We had a great stay at the Knickerbocker hotel for 5 nights. The staff was all friendly and accommodating. The only downfall is there is very limited staff and if you need anything the staff is accommodating but you'll need to go downstairs to pick up whatever you need. 2ndly we asked multiple times to get our room cleaned at least once during our stay which they are only doing if stay more than 3 days, but the cleaning supervisor never contacted us or scheduled anytime for cleaning. But the room was clean and nice. We enjoyed our stay.

Yelp
Our stay was kind of a bummer. When my friend and I checked in we were informed it was an extra $50/night for service fees or something? But this was not listed anywhere on the booking app and we had no heads up until check in which is obviously too late to find somewhere else to stay. Parking is also not included in the stay but you get a "discounted" rate of $35/night.... Included in our $1000 stay at the hotel (which we were only expecting around $700 based off when we booked) we got a room with a fridge shoved in a cupboard, no microwave anywhere in the building, a small in room coffee pot and basic toiletries. That's IT. Breakfast is not included in the stay and is very expensive ($6 for a cup of black coffee?) but it was good and the portions were great. I don't recommend staying here, would give them one star if it wasn't for the location.

Yelp
If you're only looking to pay for a decent location, this is it. It's an outdated (not in a good way) hotel with heavy doors and damp rooms. We're from the south and use to humidity but not in a room we're paying over $100 a night for. The rooms are SMALL, bathroom fan didn't work, hotel staff is rude. The website claims they hold luggage... they do not. Don't be fooled by the pics on the site, this hotel is less than 3 stars. 2 1/2 at best. I'm so disappointed. Made my first trip to Chicago less than desirable. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. Edit: contacted the hotel and still no response. Edit #2: STILL NO RESPONSE FROM THE HOTEL!!!

Yelp
I looked It up a hotel to spend the night in Chicago, one of the key words I used was military discount, this hotel popped up as a very near to the water hotel, such a big deal about it that it sounded like the hotel was a foot away from the sand. as we get there the hotel is pretty good looking, NOT BREACH FRONT, about 3 or more blocks from the water. they did not honor any military discounts and as well as they did not have free parking for guests, we had to pay an extra $62 dollars on top of the over couple hundred bux room we got. the positive about the room was the fact that the room was nice and the bed was a king. the negative was the fact that the room had a malfunctioning flush..... we did not have time to get it fixed as we only spent one night, but still I shouldn't have to arrive at a room that does not have all aspects of it functional regardless of how long I am staying. I also found the staff a bit snobby, they did have a better than me manner to them and that was a bit weird, that I felt on the front desk only, the rest of the staff was very nice and friendly. over all this was a mediocre experience, this was one of the low bar hotels I have ever experienced and this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. I have stayed at 2 star hotels where I have felt more at home than here. I will avoid this hotel in the future for sure.

Yelp
As soon you as you walk in, you can tell there are some history that goes along with this hotel. From the architecture, the decor, and the overall ambiance, there is a bit of history that was factored in with this remodeled hotel. The rooms itself is definitely modern with a huge shower with a powerful water nozzle. And the bed has super comfy sheets and pillows. Fitness center is, but not as modern as the rooms, but still gets its job done, with treadmills, elliptical machines, exercise bikes and free weights. Walking distance to Michigan Ave, and to the beach. Wi-fi included. Bar in the lobby. You'll be set if you stay here.

Yelp
For the money you can't do better, and for more money you'll be lucky to. Great location & staff. Clean. Rooms small but nicely decorated. My king bed was just right (not to soft, not to hard...). Carpets seemed like they might be ready a steam clean, but everything was freshly vacuumed.

Yelp
STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!!!!! THEY WILL MAKE UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES ON YOUR CARD!!!!! I, my husband and brother in law stayed at the Millennium knickerbocker this past weekend, from friday, 12/03/21, through sunday 12/05/21, and the experience was less than satisfactory. We planned this trip for a concert in which my brother in law was unsure if he was going to be able to attend. He kindly booked the reservation (under my name, Ana Clara Serra) through roomdi and booked a family room in case he was able to attend so we could have a double bed room . Once we got to the hotel we were told that they were fully booked and that because of that our room had been upgraded to a superior king. However my brother in law was able to attend and we informed the front desk that this was not the room we had booked and that we specifically booked a room with two bed. They proceed to apologize and inform me that there is nothing that can be done since I book through a third party and they do not guarantee the family room, even though it costs a different rate, because it is a "request". Since they can not guarantee I would like to be reimbursed for the extra cost of "requesting" a family room. I asked for the policy and to see where that was stated and none of the employees were able to find this information on the website or any platform available. After informing us that due to overbooking we could either cancel, or stay in a superior king with a roll out bed. We stayed since we are unfamiliar with Chicago, and did not have a booking with another hotel. We were then charged 75 for incidentals, and then another $71 dollar charge, and then once again a 30 dollars charge for a cleaning fee that we were never told about, which makes me extremely upset to have the hotel make unauthorized transactions under my husbands . In total besides the cost of our stay we have been charged over $170 dollars without our consent. This is beyond frustrating for a weekend getaway trip. However the problems have not ended yet. Once I got to our room, the carpets were very stained, we had 2 pillows for 3 people, and had to call multiple times in order to get our roll out bed. Our shower was broken and water leaked all over the bathroom into the room. We were promised to then be transferred to a family room the day following, however once approached the next day, the front desk staff had no idea about our situation, and informed us once again that there was nothing that could be done for us. The experience at your hotel was the worst experience I have had at a hotel. It is dirty and outdated in a bad way. They also do not respond to emails or ever get back to you.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay here. The bed is so comfortable I had to check what brand it is so I can buy it for my own bedroom lol. The room was nice and quiet even though we were so close to the magnificent mile.

Yelp
Decent hotel. Maybe a bit expensive but we somehow scored a pretty good deal online. It's a little old fashioned and has seen better days but its also in an antiquated way charming. The lobby was beautifully decorated for the holidays and they occasionally had live music playing in their hotel bar. Services were pretty helpful and polite. Where does it go wrong? The wifi is tricky. You're automatically logged out every time you leave the hotel and have to log back in. It also doesn't work on all devices. It didn't work for my father's cell phone (even with my tinkering to try and figure out the situation) and he used up all of his data on our trip. The cost for parking with the hotel is astronomical. You don't even want to know how much it is. Okay, it's $60-70 a day. Yeah, Chicago is expensive. But for my Dad to pay that much because he has a busted ass knee and it was 5 degrees outside and couldn't walk far, they were pretty horrible half the time about getting his car out. It was typically a 15 minute wait for any car but sometimes they would play stupid and either not respond when you call for a car or double the wait time. At least, that was the case until he reiterated how much he was paying a day. The gym was decent. A few treadmills, machines, weights, etc. Little water fountain, and free apples (nice touch). The basic necessities of any small gym that you would have no idea where it is (second floor in the corner) unless you asked someone that worked there. Restaurant I didn't try but my dad and brother went down there for breakfast one morning and they said the service was horrible even though they were some of the only people sitting there and the food was just mediocre. Bar was pretty decent but pretty expensive. I sampled a beer and should have gone with that but wanted to be fancy and got an old fashioned which I didn't like and that's a rarity. I remember there was also a weird moment when we were feeling peckish and wanted to order something small. The main restaurant was closed for the evening but the bar's menu was still open. They couldn't find their menu and said we could find it upstairs. The menu we were thinking was either on the tv or in a drawer but it wasn't anywhere in the hotel room. I thought, maybe he meant we can look for it ourselves online. Genius moment. I looked online, yelp, etc. . . everything and there was no dinner menu for the hotel. We gave up and my sister revealed she had tostitos hidden away and my Dad revealed he had already opened up a jar of $8 cashews from the mini bar. I'm probably nitpicking at this point but that's what you do when you shell out a lot of dough for a nice hotel on a family vacation. Decent stay here but it's like any other hotel and if you find a better deal elsewhere, go with that. There's no view of the lake anyway, it's all obstructed. There is however a great liquor store literally a half block away that made the stay that much more enjoyable. They also deliver for free if you order over $20 worth of stuff.

Yelp
absolutely amazing hotel staff Bellman so kind. The location was absolutely perfect off the beaten path just a few steps to the main frag, walking distance to everything quiet and private area garage is right across the street. You will probably miss it my maps didn't take me right to the entrance to the hotel so that took a minute to get there. It's across the street from the Drake Hotel, we're definitely going back again history all over inside and small room with all old newspapers clippings, prices were ext fair!!. We will definitely going back and we'll always always stay at the hotel. I traveled with two teenage girls in their grandma!
