I was sitting in my hotel room when dinner time approached on a recent stay in Tampa in October 2023. After looking at their menu online, I decided to head on over.
I noticed they do a prime rib promotion on Thursday and Saturday. $20 for a 16 oz. That seemed like a really good deal. I rarely have had a bonafide prime rib cut in a long while. And so, I was like, why not since I'm on vacation in Tampa. I arrived here around 8:15pm on a casual Thursday evening. Millers Ale House was a short walk from the AC Hotel - TPA airport, so I did just that. It took about 10 minutes to casually walk there. The place was buzzing. Maybe I should have dined in but decided not to. The ambiance was nice and seemed quiet enough, although it was a little bit noisy than a quiet place. It felt like being at a Chilis restaurant since it felt like that. With that said, I came in and there was a bunch of people waiting to be seated, so I just decided to order takeout instead while searching for something else to supplement the prime rib steak I ordered from Miller's Ale House. The service was kind of interesting. I asked about a take out order and the dude had to ask for help to key in the order into their system. Found that to be a little bit odd but whatever. Had to wait 5 minutes before someone came and entered the order into the queue. It was a bit annoying but it is what it is. The pick up was quick and definitely worth the trip.
I ordered the 16 oz prime rib steak which came with a choice of a side, which I decided to have a loaded mash potato. Considering what I was going to do in 2 days, I needed the carbs. The overall experience here at Miller's Ale House - Tampa was fairly good and decent. I was surprised that the hostess told me that it was a slow dinner service so my order was ready for pick up within 15 minutes. I ordered it rare and it was heavenly to experience real prime rib while on vacation, even though I was having it in my hotel room watching NFL Thursday night football. It came with au jous, which was cool. The prime rib itself was good and juicy. Excellently served with the au jous. The loaded potato was good too. I probably should have heated it up separately but it was good as well. For the most part though, I am glad that this restaurant was within walking distance and had that prime rib special and on the evening I was there. Lucky me, I guess. The restaurant seemed busy as I was there, both ordering and picking up. The restaurant was clean, at least the parts that I could see. And so, if you are staying near the Tampa regional airport, consider coming here for lunch or dinner after arrival or before you head to the airport for your departure. The service was good, although typical enough I guess. Recommended if you are in the area.
Miller's Ale House is located at 3860 W Columbus Drive in the Tampa regional airport area in Tampa, FL. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. Not sure about WiFi service, but you can ask if they have one for customers. As far as parking, they have a limited but generous amount of parking spaces for patrons. As far as public transportation goes, I learned that the local HART bus route 32 from the TPA airport runs from the airport to this area and stops nearby. I'm not sure where the bus stop is when traveling towards the airport. Couldn't see anything (bus shelter or a bench) on the other side of the street. And so, if you are craving awesome prime rib or anything else, consider stopping by here at Miller's restaurant here in Tampa for a quick bite. They'd be glad to see you.
