NYC Bars and Restaurants Are Pushing Back Against the SLA

"A restaurant/bar that has filed a separate lawsuit challenging the midnight curfew for restaurants; the owners argue the state is regularly fining establishments thousands of dollars for hyper-technical violations introduced with little notice and that the curfew is arbitrary and not justified by how the virus spreads." - Chris Crowley

Google
Went on a football sunday and this place was packed. Had the special (prime rib) which was the best thing we had. Also had the zinger and fry app and the fajitas, which neither would order again, but had great service so could not complain. For how busy it was we still got our food pretty quick. Would go here again when around this area, or to catch a game with a friend.

Google
Loved the indoor outdoor seating options! I would describe the menu as a fancier version of Applebee's. Everything looked so good it was hard to choose from! Loved the lobster roll.

Thomas J.

Google
It was my first time there or I havebeen there in so long but the food was amazing and the servers had great customer service. Kristina my server had great customer service and she was very professional. She definitely made me feel welcomed and relaxed

Google
I came to Miller’s Ale House because it’s supposedly one of the “top-rated sports bars.” What a joke. I ordered the wings, and they were hands down the worst I’ve ever had anywhere. Wings are supposed to be crispy and packed with flavor. These were soggy, greasy, and completely bland. The meat tasted like it had never even met a seasoning shaker. I managed to eat part of it and threw the rest out! It was that bad. How this place gets any kind of positive review is beyond me. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else if you actually want edible food.

Deb M.

Google
Service was outstanding. Kristin was friendly and everything you hoped to have in a bartender/server. Food was very good, onion rings crunchy, and ribs fantastic. Cheese steak sandwich could have more cheese but still very tasty. We will definitely be back.

Google
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stopped by Miller’s Ale House on West Columbus Dr. and had an awesome experience. I ordered the broiled salmon with fries and cheesy broccoli, and everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The salmon was cooked perfectly — tender and well-seasoned — and the cheesy broccoli was honestly the star of the plate. Comfort food done right. The service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed but upbeat. Great spot to grab a solid meal whether you’re flying solo or out with friends. I’ll definitely be back soon. Highly recommend this location!

Google
I had been to Miller only a few times before this time and didn’t have much impression. But this time at this location really change my experience with Miller. The atmosphere is cool for Friday. Excellent service. And the food is very good.

Google
I’m pleasantly surprised. The food here was so good. Much better than previous experiences at different locations. The service was excellent. Ceira took care of us. She’s so sweet and gave us quick and accurate service. I had no idea before dinner this evening but we’ll definitely come back.

Yelp
tonight I had dinner at Miller's ale near the Tampa airport. The server was a young lady named M.E. I have to say she was one of the friendliest and best servers I've encountered in Tampa over the last two years. I live in I Tampa for business every three weeks and I have many restaurants in the Tampa area. Tonight the service I got was just about perfect, she made suggestions on my order, she checked after the appetizer was delivered to see if it was as expected. She also checked on me multiple times after the entrée was delivered. And before I could even finish my soda, she delivered another one without me asking. When you're on the road and traveling the last thing you want to encounter after a long day is bad service. I will tell you the service I got from E.M. Along with the great blackened salmon was a perfect ending to a very successful. I everyone know, excellence is a state of mind and a decision. Tonight I experienced excellence at Miller's. Next time you're in the area stop by and give him a chance and ask for M. E.

Yelp
Great place to go before an event at Raymond James. We went before a Bucs game and despite it being extremely busy, the food came out in a timely manner and there server was on top of things. I had the cheeseburger which was pretty good. Parking available surrounding the restaurant. They are also well known for their "zingers" chicken tenders.
google avatar

Yelp
Miller's Ale House was overall pretty mediocre as a bar, but the food was actually good. The service was solid, and the bartender was friendly and easy to talk to. Not an amazing spot, but not bad either.

Yelp
Stopped in for a bite to eat and to watch some Monday night football. Miller's has plenty of TVs for all your sports desires and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. The chicken Caesar salad was decent in flavor but packed a hefty portion size. The service was very accommodating and hospitable. If you're a sports fan you'll love the ambiance.

Yelp
Got a late dinner with my parents right when I landed at TPA. I really liked my chicken and shrimp bowl, it was fresh tasting and not overly salty. I also liked how nothing was fried in my meal. My parents shared the fish and chips and in their words claimed these to be the "best fish and chips they have ever had". Specifically because they were very "Americanized" lol. I tried some of the fries and they were super seasoned with salt and pepper. The dessert we all shared was also a yummy and surprising lighter ice cream cake, despite it looking extremely decadent and rich. This was a cute and enjoyable meal with my parents.

Yelp
Zingers on mountain of fries is what we recommend! Fun place to watch games, have some drinks and hang out with friends.

Yelp
Stopping here for lunch while I was on travel, the food was great. The service was good nice bar type atmosphere.
google avatar

Don K.

Yelp
Comfortable table and chairs, plenty of TVs to watch all the sports. Good burgers and fish sandwich but they need to get the sweet potato fries back on the menu! Service was timely and helpful. Especially near midnight on a Saturday. Old fashioned needed more syrup which they quick brought- just served in a plastic glass- uggh!

Yelp
Stopped by Miller's Ale House while visiting Florida. I personally didn't order any food or drinks, just had water, so I can't speak firsthand on the quality of the food or their beer selection. That said, the place seemed clean, and the service was decent. The menu looked like it had a pretty solid selection of beers, and the food that came out to other tables looked good. Service was fairly quick, and I didn't hear any complaints from those around me, which is always a good sign. Overall, if you're in the area and looking for a casual spot to grab a meal and a drink, Miller's Ale House seems like a good option to check out!

Patricia L.

Yelp
Food was hot and tasty, service very attentive and with a smile. Prices are reasonable and you get a decent sized portion. I will return.

Jessica C.

Yelp
Let's start with we understand Sunday are extremely busy with football. We were sat took sometime before we were greeted. Drinks another 10 mins apps another 25 and again we get it but zingermelt and sticks appeared and tasted as if they sat under the warmer for 20,min and pretzel seemed stale at best.. ok maybe dinner will save the day... Nope shrimp on salad over cooked chicken undercooked, order a med well burger came out every bit of med rare recoil came out charged, wings were asked to be crispy came out extra soggy. Restaurants are fighting for business so when we choose one we hope it's worth the money to spend what we did and not get what we paid for is a waste. This is not what we expect from millers. We go about once a month and this was definitely a huge let down and waste of money...
google avatar

Brigitte L.

Yelp
Average. Came out for our departmental happy hour. Bar served drinks for us, staff was attentive and friendly. We had various apps served at the back of the bar area where it was more of a buffet. Wings, fries, pretzels, beer cheese dip, spinach dip and chips, mac n cheese. We went up right when the food was placed and it was cold. Beer cheese dip was cold! Like refrigerator cold!! Gross. The pretzels were stale and not soft at all. No serving utensils at half the place settings.

Julie J.

Yelp
The atmosphere was nice and waitress was nice.. but the kitchen staff was not on there best game .. I had to send back my salad then they tried to give me a bad potato.. if your looking for a good burger I'd hit this place up but be careful if you have an allergen

Yelp
My first date from Lakeland at The Ale House....Service always on point and creative for the experience. We finished creating The Cod.....

Yelp
Ended up going here late night because they were open and the food was actually pretty good. I had mozzarella sticks, french fries and some calamari. Just something to hold me over until the morning. The bartender was super cool and the staff was friendly. It was a nice sports bar. They have inside and outside seating available.

Yelp
Alright folks, settle down here with all the hate. First, this is a bar that serves food, this is not a Michelin Star restaurant. I read through some of the negative reviews and feel they are not fair given the restaurant for what it is overall. First, a shout out to Jensen! Gurl, yas! You blew it out of the water. First, she rocked out bringing us great martinis - lovely job! They served complimentary chips and we asked for some Ranch dressing to dip it in... I cracked the joke "bring it in a bucket, we love our Ranch"... heck yes - SHE DID JUST THAT! SHE BROUGHT US A BUCKET OF RANCH!!! GURL! YOU ROCK! Dinner was lovely. They could have been fussy with us walking in 20 minutes prior to close but alas, they treated us like kings. The chicken and shrimp salad was delightful - my partner really enjoyed it! Jensen was very accommodating, I had "travel tummy" and needed something simple. She was very kind to wrangle up a grilled chicken breast with plain fries for me. The chips made in-house were DELISH... and the BUCK OF RANCH WAS HILARIOUS! Y'all go have a drink. Get off ya' dang high horses and appreciate Miller's Ale House for exactly what it is... a bar and grill. Thanks, Jensen for a wonderful experience!!

Yelp
If you're used to the Miller's Ale House locations this one fits the status quo. They do have inside and outside bars (not sure if they have all been updated to have an outdoor patio/bar) which is nice. Haven't had a wait but they are busy during happy hour or early dinner. Plenty of TVs but don't expect to have a specific game with sound. Their food really hasn't changed in my opinion over the years. Nothing exceptional and prices have gone through the roof as with most places.

Yelp
Depends who pours it but 8/10 times it's a great Guinness, no Irish pub but best you can get on short notice. Also highly recommend Mimi's bowl it's definitely the best menu item.
google avatar

Yelp
The Bourbon Salmon topped with Shrimp was Phenomenal! Our amazing waitress said it was seasonal but O recommended that they keep it permanently! Came Baked Potato and Veggies! FAB-U-LOUS!!!
google avatar

Jeff G.

Yelp
We ordered the chicken scampi pasta bake, a cheeseburger with fries, and. Salmon dinner. The chicken scampi had a good flavor but a little on the dry side. The cheeseburger had a good char broiled flavor but was slightly burned. The salmon plate had a good presentation but was over cooked and very dry. I make a lot of salmon at home, as it's one of my favorite dishes, and this was very dry. This being said our waitress was excellent. She was very attentive and came around enough to tend to our table. And she smiled!!

Yelp
Great food in a casual environment! Wait staff is always terrific! Can't wait v to go again!

Aurea M.

Yelp
My first time eating here.Loved the french onion soup and the nachos were great. Jessica was attentive without hovering, I appreciate that. The atmosphere was very pleasant. Will be back. So many choices. Thank you for a great meal
google avatar

Dmitri G.

Yelp
There are no bartenders. Just a few people that try to pour drinks. I received a margarita with PICKLE JUICE instead of agave from Natalie of Pittsburgh and upon telling her she begins to list off the ingredients necessary to make a margarita instead of addressing my concerns. We waited 75 mins for 2 meals and were approached multiple times with the wrong order. Many many people got their orders before we did. I told The manager about my wait her response was "so you want it or no?" And walked away without a single remark. This place is not the one. Plenty of other options near by. Drinks 2/5 Ordered a double tall it was all mixer Ordered a green tea it was all OJ THERES NO OJ IN A GREEN TEA SHOT Please train your staff. Also.. Never got waters.
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped by for a quick dinner and we had an amazing experience. The place had a nice sports bar vibe, but the food quality was definitely above par compared to typical bar food. What made our visit really special, was the outstanding service.
google avatar

Yelp
Went with friends to have a nice dinner and we had tons of fun. Victoria did an amazing job serving us and the food was great. We would love to come back again! ‍

Yelp
Eh, what service? the food. I guess the food was OK. The service left too much to be desired. Honestly, I went in and immediately realized that I only wanted take out and decided to sit at the bar and have a drink while waiting for our food. The bartenders took their time even looking in my direction. Even when it's busy someone simply acknowledging that you are there is good business. Five real minutes and not a glance. The place wasn't so busy. I can't speak much for ambience, because Millers Ale House was really lacking too many other essentials for me to be concerned about ambience. The waitress brought the food. She later returned with the chicken to my Chicken Cobb salad. Thanks, I think. The drinks were super strong so fortunately I afforded myself, the opportunity to eat my chic with my salad.

Yelp
Kristin my server was AWESOME. I'm an airline pilot and spend over two weeks a month on the road been doing this for decades. I know the good ones from the bad ones. She was awesome! Was quick to be helpful as a beautiful smile and got my food and took care of me wonderfully. Food is food, but it makes a huge difference when it's served quickly with somebody who feels urgency and a big contagious smile!

Joe S.

Yelp
I appreciate what you all are doing, but the space and seating management during event nights needs serious attention. You've got hundreds of people standing around waiting for seats, while large open areas go unused. Adding more benches or temporary seating could go a long way. Maybe there's a capacity restriction at play, but from the outside, it feels like either an oversight or a lack of consideration for the customer experience. People want to support your business--make it easier for them to do that. Also, it might be worth revisiting your bar seating policy. When guests are finished with their orders and just lingering, it limits your bartenders' ability to serve new paying customers. That hurts revenue and frustrates people waiting for a spot. Having a system to clear bar seats after food and drink service is done could improve flow and customer satisfaction. There's a fine line between creating a relaxed environment and enabling people to occupy valuable space without contributing to the business. Right now, it feels off-balance.

Yelp
Miller's Ale House is your typical run of the mill sports bar and grill. It has a very similar vibe to other chains like Buffalo Wild Wings. I visited back in February of this year. When I entered, the place was probably about halfway full, but despite that I was told there was a 20 min wait. No problem, I was waiting for a friend I hadn't seen in years so this was okay. I helped myself to a seat in the lobby area on the bench. However, after about 60 seconds, I felt some water drip on me and then I looked up and saw the ceiling had a leak and the restaurant was doing nothing about it. Felt a little gross after that because I had no idea where that water was coming from. After the 20 min, my table was ready where I was helped to my seat. The menu was pretty stereotypical, there was nothing too crazy on it that shocked me. My friend who was a local told me I had to get the zingers mountain melt so I listened. It was a basically a layer of fries, topped with a layer of cheese, and then some chicken tenders in your choice of sauce. I mean it was good, but definitely a food targeted for children and intoxicated adults. Overall, mediocre food and below-average atmosphere.

Tawana M.

Yelp
We ordered through postmates and the food was delivered on time. That is the only good thing about it. The Cue burger was vland and unseasoned. We ordered the sirloin and shrimp cooked medium rare and were instead given the filet mignon that was cooked medium well. Also, there were no shrimp. I ordered a side of shrimp with the Cue burger and that order came, but the sirloin with shrimp, we didnt get that. The Osso Buco was all fat and only a small side had actual meat on it. The salad had soft croutons that clearly had been sitting on the salad well before we placed our order. The baked potato was very basic but for $5.39, it was probably the best item we ordered. All in all, I will not be ordering from them again. We paid $127 for our food and most of it went to the trash. Postmates gave us a $4 Uber credit for sending us the wrong meal. The presentation was terrible. The didnt even try to assemble the food to look presentable for take out. This was our firat and last time ordering from Miller's Ale House.

James K.

Yelp
to all customers :BEWARE OF SCAM a charge listed as bagging fee on all to go orders !!

Theresa S.

Yelp
We visit the Stadium location once a month...service is great, food is consistent, great drink menu. My favorite dish is the pork Osso Bucco. It's always cooked perfectly, meat falling off the bone and tastes great. The last two times it's been a little smaller than usual which I don't have a problem with as long as the price was steady at $18.99. Unfortunately, you have raised the price to $25.19!!! Not now you guys! The economy is looking great, there is no inflation, food prices are coming down, egg prices are down, gas prices are down. What are you doing??? The mashed potato portion is still that of a school lunch ice cream scoop and the veggies are still a a small portion. I don't think it's a "fair" price for the consumer. If you took a 15-20% mark-up across the board on all your menu items you will feel the pinch from us.

Yelp
We were in Tampa running errands so stopped in for an early dinner. No wait, we sat at the bar. Ordered the soup of the day (broccoli cheddar) and blackened shrimp and chicken cobb salad. Drinks: gin & tonic and an old fashioned. Drinks were good. The soup was cold. Sent one back to reheat and canceled the other one. Salads were good.
google avatar

Ed L.

Yelp
I was sitting in my hotel room when dinner time approached on a recent stay in Tampa in October 2023. After looking at their menu online, I decided to head on over. I noticed they do a prime rib promotion on Thursday and Saturday. $20 for a 16 oz. That seemed like a really good deal. I rarely have had a bonafide prime rib cut in a long while. And so, I was like, why not since I'm on vacation in Tampa. I arrived here around 8:15pm on a casual Thursday evening. Millers Ale House was a short walk from the AC Hotel - TPA airport, so I did just that. It took about 10 minutes to casually walk there. The place was buzzing. Maybe I should have dined in but decided not to. The ambiance was nice and seemed quiet enough, although it was a little bit noisy than a quiet place. It felt like being at a Chilis restaurant since it felt like that. With that said, I came in and there was a bunch of people waiting to be seated, so I just decided to order takeout instead while searching for something else to supplement the prime rib steak I ordered from Miller's Ale House. The service was kind of interesting. I asked about a take out order and the dude had to ask for help to key in the order into their system. Found that to be a little bit odd but whatever. Had to wait 5 minutes before someone came and entered the order into the queue. It was a bit annoying but it is what it is. The pick up was quick and definitely worth the trip. I ordered the 16 oz prime rib steak which came with a choice of a side, which I decided to have a loaded mash potato. Considering what I was going to do in 2 days, I needed the carbs. The overall experience here at Miller's Ale House - Tampa was fairly good and decent. I was surprised that the hostess told me that it was a slow dinner service so my order was ready for pick up within 15 minutes. I ordered it rare and it was heavenly to experience real prime rib while on vacation, even though I was having it in my hotel room watching NFL Thursday night football. It came with au jous, which was cool. The prime rib itself was good and juicy. Excellently served with the au jous. The loaded potato was good too. I probably should have heated it up separately but it was good as well. For the most part though, I am glad that this restaurant was within walking distance and had that prime rib special and on the evening I was there. Lucky me, I guess. The restaurant seemed busy as I was there, both ordering and picking up. The restaurant was clean, at least the parts that I could see. And so, if you are staying near the Tampa regional airport, consider coming here for lunch or dinner after arrival or before you head to the airport for your departure. The service was good, although typical enough I guess. Recommended if you are in the area. Miller's Ale House is located at 3860 W Columbus Drive in the Tampa regional airport area in Tampa, FL. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. Not sure about WiFi service, but you can ask if they have one for customers. As far as parking, they have a limited but generous amount of parking spaces for patrons. As far as public transportation goes, I learned that the local HART bus route 32 from the TPA airport runs from the airport to this area and stops nearby. I'm not sure where the bus stop is when traveling towards the airport. Couldn't see anything (bus shelter or a bench) on the other side of the street. And so, if you are craving awesome prime rib or anything else, consider stopping by here at Miller's restaurant here in Tampa for a quick bite. They'd be glad to see you. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 4.5 stars for the food. 3.5 stars for the food and 4.0 stars for the service. Support local! B

Yelp
Miller's Ale house was one of my favorite sports bar and still in my top 3. Food has changed over the years and thankfully for the better. Service is always good and fast. Ambiance can range to calm air down meal to full blown sport mania depending on the season and the home team. The place is a blast and have tons of great memories here. Been to over 10 locations all over Florida. The wings are Yumminess, the Zingers and the bombdigity!! The steak is always good and the pasta never fail. But the bar is stocked and can accommodate any cocktail you desire. Trust me I have ordered just about everything here!!

Ashley B.

Yelp
I came in a few hours ago,I was greeted by the host Luis .He was very welcoming and nice .He offered me a booth to sit at and as he's taking me to the booth, the server that was supposed to take us said in a very aggressive tone to give him five minutes and made a face at him, so then the host politely asked us to wait about five minutes, but we didn't want to deal with the server because of how he acted towards the host so we just left I think I saw the server's name tag it could've been Dan or Danny . Definitely will not be returning
google avatar

Lucas G.

Yelp
The food was light yet filling (somehow) and the service was quick but executed well. Very friendly vibe.

Yelp
First time in Florida and first time here. Ceira was great! Very attentive and nice. The food was good. I'm a big pesto person and sometimes it's a miss but the ravioli was good. Also had the pot stickers and pretzel which was good!
google avatar

Yelp
Staying at a hotel nearby I thought I would try Miller's as it was Father's Day as they had a prime rib special. The prime rib came out too cool for a medium rare piece. Alexa my server was very helpful and returned it and brought me another slice. It too came out a little cool but warmer than the previous slice. Besides being too cool it was a good cut of meat with a good flavor. I know it's an Ale house, but if you're going to do a prime rib you need to deliver a quality product (this comment for the manager). The service from Alexa was good. She was very helpful and attentive, and the food issues are out of her control. Still, with that being said, I would come back again.

Yelp
Had 2 great Martinis. Fun atmosphere. Service fair on a late Sat. night. Conveniently located to central Tampa.

Suzanne L.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch and sat at the outdoor bar. Beautiful weather and a FANTASTIC bartender!!! Was crazy busy and she does it all ... makes incredible drinks, service with a big smile, refills ice and alcohol and takes care of dishes! It was pretty packed today too and she did it all and by herself making sure to take care of customers first! Kristin is the BEST!!! Going to find the manager to let them know how hard she worked today!!!

Yelp
They have great food, it a nice place to watch games, and the service is good. I recommend this place

Yelp
Early dinner at location with a friend. We chose to sit at the bar. Bartender was super friendly. Very quick in getting out our drink orders. We had the Monday night baby back ribs special. Very tasty. My drink, the prickly pear margarita was equally delish.

Yelp
While we were taking my stepdaughter to the airport, we stopped at Miller's Ale House for dinner. The burgers were excellent and the restaurant was standard corporate decor. The service, however, was EXCELLENT. I wish I could remember her name because she was one of the top 5 wait staff that I can remember ever having served us. She could give graduate classes on how to be a GREAT server. Based on this experience we have been to a couple of other Miller's Ale Houses. The food & decor are always consistent. The servers have all been good, but none can beat our service in Tampa. If you are the Tampa MAH manager, you might be able to put a name to this STAR. We were there on Monday, December 11th for dinner (probably around 5:30-ish). As you came in the front door we sat in a booth off to the right. I think it was the second or third booth from the front. If you figure out who this wonderful server was, give her a high five, and maybe even a raise.

Mireya R.

Yelp
There was a 35 minute wait on a random Wednesday. Within 5 minutes, there was an opening at the bar so we sat there. Bartender was at entice and we received our food pretty fast. My favorite sauce is the hot garlic (a mixture of hot with garlic parm). My husbands favorite is the sweet Thai chili. In the pictures are our favorite plates: French onion soup, zingers salad and zingers melt.

Yelp
Overall experience was just ok. Ordered and paid at the bar bc or table wasn't ready. Went to a table once available, and no one ever came to check on us. The guy kept paying by. I had to stop him and ask if he were ourserver. He said yes, but you paid at the bar. Even afterwards he never came to refill the waters or ask if we wanted another drink. The plan was to leave a cash tip, but after the experience we just left. I ordered the capt'n jack ice cream cake and it was just ok. It had too many ice chips in it as if someone left the freezer opened or something. It wasn't really smooth. The calamari was very soft and bland. The beer was good. Overall, it was just ok. Nice establishment and a nice chill vibe though. No need to get all fancy. Just go grab a beer and chill

Yelp
I ordered Miller's Ale House for the Super Bowl. I thought this would be delicious because of the advertise picture but no I got dull quesadillas. I posted pictures of what I received and also a picture of what they advertise. This was an delivery order. I have put in my feedback on the Miller's Ale House website, it's been 3 days and I haven't heard anything back from them.

Yelp
Awful wings. Tough, rubbery and barely dressed. Pretty much felt like I was eating plain flavorless chicken that was poorly cooked

Yelp
Love coming to this location! Prior to COVID-19, we always opted to eat outside by the bar where it was covered. The fresh air is amazing! We still prefer to eat outside and was pleasantly surprised by how they have socially distanced the people and tables, I felt completely comfortable dining there! All servers wore masks and were constantly cleaning- 5 stars for that alone! Our server was Mike- he was attentive, laid back, and had great customer service! Last night was simply a cocktail night and we decided to order food to go, which never disappoints! We each had one of their amazing pitchers- Electric Blue Long Island and Margarita! The perfect size to just sit and talk for awhile! ($11.95 of goodness!) We order a few things to go- The shrimp Cobb salad and Chicken Mexican Tacos. So good! We visit this location about once a month so if you're in the area, definitely go in and enjoy!
