"During the first half of the 20th century, the iconic Swedish sculptor Carl Milles (1875-1955) nabbed many coveted public commissions all over the world. He was known for his style of blending Ancient Greek, Roman, and Christian mythology into his work. He used heavy, hard materials such as granite and bronze, and he paired the sculptures with light materials such as water and air by making them the centerpieces of fountains or raising them high up in the sky. Carl Milles died in 1955, and his greatest creation is said to be Millesgården, which he worked on over the span of 50 years."
A fantastic garden with beautiful and impressive sculptures. Quite a fascinating collection and history. It was unexpected to learn about this place. Visiting the garden was a pleasure. There is a lovely cafe/restaurant inside the garden.

Very unique museum and gardens in Stockholm. One of my favourites. The placement of it also tells a story.

This sculpture park and museum is perhaps one of the most beautiful man-made places in the world. A must visit when in Stockholm: just pick a sunny day and take the bus that stops almost right at the front door.
Nice cafe/restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating (can be reached right from the street also).

I would say this is our favorite spot in Stockholm over our weekend trip. We came in right before the sunset and the views in the garden were amazing. It's a magical realm where the artist Milles and his wife made their fantasies into reality as well as their forever resting place. Location-wise, it's a bit out of the way from central Stockholm but definitely worth the time and effort.
