3 Best Day Trips from Melbourne to Mornington Peninsula, Daylesford, and the Yarra Valley | Condé Nast Traveler

"This clifftop walk takes in some of the most stunning aspects of the western side of the Mornington Peninsula. You’ll take in some of the most amazing mansions in this part of the world—they’re what gives this walk its name—look out across Port Phillip Bay to the Bellarine Peninsula and Melbourne, and take in views that have inspired Australian artists. This 1,600-yard walk goes past four of the 14 interpretative signs, including ones depicting paintings by Arthur Boyd and Sir Arthur Streeton, on the Sorrento–Portsea Artists Trail. The return walk takes about an hour; turn around when you get to Lenthall Avenue." - Carrie Hutchinson

I really enjoyed this walk. The water vistas are outstanding with interesting and beautiful properties to image their views. It’s a short walk, but can be extended by walking along the shore line. Also the sunny day adds to this experience.

Scenic and exclusive Walking track along cliff top in front of mainly fenced off private property. Several swing gates along the way and some tree branches and exposed roots are some of the obstacles. Worth a try more for curiosity

Interesting, short walk on the clifftops of Portsea. Most millionaire’s homes can’t be seen due to high fences. Would have preferred a longer, more varied walk. Views to the bay are nice.

Great little walk. Some stunningviewsof PortPhillipBayfrom alongthe top of the cliff. It will feel like you are on private property in some places. The entrance at one end is a little hidden. Look for the pick up your dog poo sign on the gate to your left as you head towards the beach

Walking track behind the houses beside the cliff. Nice views. Watch out for tree roots. I parked at the end of Pt.King road to start. Not many spots.

Lovely walk along the foreshore, a comfortable walking track between the water and the beautiful houses.

A lovely & interesting walk, with beautiful cliff top views across the bay, some through trees, and walking close to large grand houses and properties - also very interesting. I gave a rating of 4 stars not 5, partly because the start of the walk at Lentell Avenue was tricky to find, with a high gate making it look like private property and no sign, other than to pick up your dog poop! The walk is easy - but a short section is sloped across grass & dirt without an exact track - so may not be suitable for some people with difficulties walking. At the Point King end, there is access to a lovely quiet beach area. It was also interesting looking at the artists trail paintings along the way.

Easy and very scenic walk along the magnificent cliff tops, looking over the southern end of Port Phillip Bay.
