Yelp
I found this place while I was traveling on my way to Nevada.
I searched highest rated steak houses in Cedar city. This one came up as the number one rated steak house at least in Sori's data base.book.
I got there and initially the service was really good my waitress was a sweetheart and as accommodating as they would allow.
However, I ordered the prime rib, medium rare. I received an over cooked abomination. Forgive my dramatics, but this prime rib had zero red or pink in it it was so overcook it was white like an over cooked rump roast. It was even hard to cut it.
It really was tragic; however, I am of the mind that if someone orders a well-done prime rib then they might as will be eating hamburger, or at least that's what they deserve. again, is tragic. (Forgive me Utah and as after that I heard it is quite common for people in Utah to order their prime rib well done)
So the short of it is I showed it to the waitress she 100% agreed went back to try to find a more rare cut and that was the most rare cut that they had of the prime rib.
In my humble opinion, if you are charging customers in the neighborhood of $40-$50 for a steak, then said restaurant better have their meat game on lock.
I have worked in enough kitchens in my day to where I will usually just cancel the meal chip the server for her time and move on to another restaurant, rather than risk having my second dish sabotaged. The server however was so gracious and understanding that I stayed.
Regardless, I ended up getting the ribeye which on the menu it says " the steak that made Milt's famous" and that ribeye there was absolutely nothing special about it and it was supposed to be 16 ounces and I know it wasn't 16 ounces.
There was absolutely no sear on it.
The alleged "special seasonings" consisted of salt and pepper which I'm fine with because I like the taste of meat, but it seems you might have better luck if you try the other steakhouse when you're first coming up the canyon headed east on your left.
After this disappointing experience, in spite of the picturesque atmosphere if you sit downstairs you really feel like you were in the woods.
I couldn't wait to get out of there, I asked for the bill and when it came, they made it sound to me like I was lucky they weren't charging me for the prime rib that they had over cooked and that I didn't even eat!
No allowances were made, or offered hence the one star rating . And that is purely because the server was so good.
That was an awkward and weird dining experience. The host wasn't very friendly either.
Their rolls were pretty good though.
Moral of the story if you insist on eating there and you want to try the prime rib ask how it is first and verify if you can. Especially if you know your meat and order it rare or medium rare.
I hope this helps and I also understand restaurants can have an off day, maybe it just wasn't in the stars for me, but it definitely wasn't in the stars for them with this review.
Thank you for making it to the end
