Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport

MKE is a wonderful airport to fly through, it’s not as big as the other major Airport but it’s easy to navigate and is not as crowded as other major airports. So you can fly easier with less rush. Plenty of room to spread out with your family while you wait for your flight. Friendly Staff specially TSA and easy to get passing through security without having long line in wait, clean restrooms and friendly staff at the Airport make your flying experience smooth.

MKE is a wonderful airport to fly through. It is easy to navigate and is never as crowded as your big city airports. So you can fly easier with less rush. Plenty of room to spread out with your family while you wait for your flight. If you happen to be at the MKE Airport in the morning when the sun is rising you will get one heck of a view! With windows everywhere it is a wonderful place to watch the planes come and go.

this airport is extremely clean, convenient, and accessible for understanding directions. My flight into Milwaukee was extremely delayed due to weather conditions in my hometown, although once arriving, it was super straightforward for navigating through this facility. When arriving to drop off my rental car, signs were extremely easy to read and follow, and I walked to check in my bag at the Delta gate. When going through TSA security, lines were quick, staff was efficient, and there was no hiccup in between. They have a very wide variety of food options, including numerous Starbucks, locations, Dunkin’ Donuts, auntie Annie’s pretzels and cinnamon, in addition to numerous other breakfast options. if traveling to this airport for lunch or dinner time, there is also an abundance of options as well. They have a lot of gift shops with Wisconsin gear to take home in addition to Green Bay Packers or apparel as well. Would highly recommend this airport for travelers!!!!!!

Rideshare layout is top notch. Dedicated area for curbside pickup, and it's number coordinated. Absolutely brilliant! Always a pleasure flying into MKE. Very organized, efficient, and easy to navigate.

Good local airport overall—usually fast and easy in and out. No trains, buses, or endless terminals like the big hubs. Security tends to move quickly, and it’s generally a low-stress experience. Food and shopping are fine for a snack or quick meal, but don’t expect the variety of a major airport. Biggest downside: flights out of Milwaukee are often much more expensive. It’s usually cheaper to just drive the extra hour to O’Hare. Also, the moving walkways are a joke—maybe 10% of them actually work. Signs always say they’re under maintenance, but they’ve looked that way for years.

Usually very quick to get through security. Easy to navigate. Needs more food options. Don’t eat at Boone Terra. Everytime I go I’m sad I wasted my money there. Love the breakfast sandwhiches at the bagel place in concourse D. Unfortunately their coffee sucks. Nonnas is the best.

Easy to navigate but it's quite a walk from parking to ticketing. A few shops and restaurants. Standard airport fare. Security was fast and kind.

This airport was easy to navigate, but I wish terminals were connected. It seems small enough where having 1 terminal would make more sense. You're limited to the dining options in your terminal vs. the whole airport. Luckily, the Southwest Airlines side had a Vino Volo, so I was able to have a flight before my flight. There were some things outside of security, but I always like to make sure I'm through security so I can relax. I felt options were a little limited though. Bathrooms were spacious with no real issues finding one or having long lines, which is always a plus. As far as airports go, this was an easy in, easy out one. If you're flying to Milwaukee for beer or Jeffrey Dahmer history, then this is the airport to use.

This is an old and small airport. The check-in and security areas are divided up by airlines. Security requires shoes/jackets/belts off and all electronics out of bags and in separate bins so they don't overlap. The bathrooms are horrible. The women's bathroom smelt and felt like a huge port-a-potty with stalls. There only a few charging stations in the seating area. There are only four seats near each charging station. Each station has 8 outlets (no USB ports).

I find Milwaukee Mitchell airport to be clean, easy to navigate, and has a decent amount of places for food and drinks. Since it's a small airport, security lines move pretty quickly, which is a huge plus. It's not the biggest airport, but it's convenient and friendly. I do wish there were more nonstop flights into certain destinations.

Recently flew in and out of MKE for a recent trip to Madison. Madison regional, while more convenient had less options at a higher price, so MKE for the win! Flew in around 11pm on a Thursday and as expected, everything was closed. The airport itself is small and quite easy to navigate, no matter the concourse. Upon landing, I was able to make my way from my gate to the atrium/lobby in just a few moments. Upon flying out on Sunday afternoon, I was in Concourse C and again, had no trouble making my way from parking to security and then gate within about 15-20 minutes, with pre-check of course. The atrium/lobby area of the airport is great and features a few shops and eateries to enjoy before heading into the concourses. Keep in mind that this is not a large airport so food and shopping options are limited once you get past security. Additionally, you cannot just wonder from concourse to concourse either. You have to exit and go through security each time, so make sure you are ready for your gate before you head through security the first time. Parking is plentiful and fairly cheap. You get a complimentary 30 minutes then there is a small hourly charge in the hourly parking. Drop-off and pick-up areas are small, but well mapped out. No issues with either. MKE is a solid small airport that gets the job done. It could use some updating in many areas, but overall it's my go-to airport when heading into Milwaukee and/or Madison!

I had made reservations for a wheelchair for my husband. We informed the gentleman at the information desk and he said to wait and someone from American Airlines would come. After an hour and 15min. and several reminders - no wheelchair. that man was not helpful. A woman replaced him and she called several times but still no wheelchair. with 25min before boarding we decided to go on our own. my husband was stopped by the TSA agent and told that some alerts came on. He was told to take off his shoes and was questioned and patted down. my husband was clearly having trouble standing and the TSA agent had no compassion- he was not a likeable person. We made it but we had to move fast- this was a struggle for my husband who was walking with a cane. I was told to look around for a spare wheelchair and push him myself. Very poorly run wheelchair assistance.

Easy to navigate, clean and quick. All restaurants and bars are closed at 7 our flight wasn't until 840 and was delayed 2 hours so we couldn't sit anywhere for a cocktail while we waited, which was disappointing.

Decent sized airport. Flew in on a Saturday around 10am and it was very quiet. We flew out on a Sunday around 8am and it was more active. I found the facility clean. Since it's a smaller airport- there aren't as many options as a lot of other airport for food. We did grab something at Starbucks and they have a cute t-shirt shop that is reasonably priced, has a large assortment and the t-shirts are cute/funny! Overall an easy airport to travel in.

MKE! Flew in from ORD in Chicago to come into this beautiful smaller airport compared to PIT I'm used to but gorgeous all the same and had these wonderful hand laid stone moasics throughout. Lots of great food options and some nice stores to go with it. If I could choose again I would fly direct to MKE and skip ORD all together. Not to mention the flight Chicago to Milwaukee is 17 minutes lol. Lots of options and available modes for transportation though the Uber/Lyft pickup signage and directions could be clearer. Ended up coming out the opposite side of where Uber/lyft/ride share was into the taxi area just by following the signs. Rented a car and other than a little confusion about where to go when I got to the garage it was a pretty seamless process. I would definitely recommend flying in to here if you have the options and checking out the museem they have as well!

First time (I remember) flying into Milwaukee and first time on Sun Country airlines that has one direct a week, that was very inexpensive, from Minneapolis. Clean airport with plenty of coffee options. I took the Green Line bus to downtown. $2 vs $40 Uber, 30 minutes vs 15. Bus was nicer than most Ubers and no loud music or nosy driver.

I love the midsize airports like this one. I got through security via precheck in probably two minutes and it was incredibly easy. They also have a nice array of water bottle stations, a few decent restaurants, lots of seating around each gate, local shops, and all the other things you'd like from an airport. Oh, and it's surprisingly close to downtown! I got to my hotel in about ten minutes which is kind of wild. My hometown of Kansas City has the airport positioned way up away from the city and main suburbs. One more note, their wayfinding for Uber/Lyft was good (although my driver couldn't figure it out, skill issue). Not a whole lot more to add other than this was easy and I would look forward to traveling here vs. say, O'Hare or Philadelphia's airport.

Great small airport with less traffic than your major hubs. Lots of great upgrades and remodeling since the last time I flew through. Very clean and easy to navigate out and around the establishment. Only downfall, is you are limited to eaters based on your terminal (very limited to the rest of the airport).

I fly in on Sundays and most of the shops are closed and some food places. They actually have some really cool stores here not the usual snack stores but stores you'd find in a shopping mall. Food is limited because most are closed on Sundays.

What an awesome airport! With less traffic than a major hub, it would be easy for the county to/ city to have something that would get them by. Milwaukee didn't do that, though. This small airport is well laid out, has great bars/restaurants, gift shops, and places to sit. While none of us want to spend more time in an airport than necessary, when we do spend time there, we'd rather it be a comfortable place. This airport is just that!

Added this connection to my flights last minute due to cancelation on my original route. While it added a segment, it got us to JFK (& in turn, Frankfurt) on originally scheduled day. No lost day of vacation, yay! We didn't spend a lot of time there, but it was easy to navigate on the tight connection.

Simple airport to where we had to depart from coming to New York. Easy to go from point A to be here. Not a very packed place. Good security and proessionalism here. I enjoyed it for the few minutes I had here.

Smart move placing a 5G Verizon tower near the airport. Very nice speeds! P.S. arrive at least an hour before your flight

I wish to thank the wheelchair transport folks from Southwest Air. I couldn't travel alone without their assistance. Friendly, patient and respectful and great service. Thank you Southwest, for an exceptional "ride ". 5 stars

Very comfortable airport if you have to stay for a long layover. Plenty of restaurants and convenience stores if you need last minute items. Of course nothing in the airport is cheap, so no one should ever complain about the prices. Thats to be expected. Ooh I can't forget the TSA agents, everyone I dealt with was very nice and helpful

This feels like a small regional airport yet it services a major US city. I was able to get through TSA relatively quickly and there was adequate seating at the gates. Being a smaller airport, there are not as many food options but I did enjoy some of the historical items and information displays about the history of Milwaukee and Wisconsin. I look forward to going back to Milwaukee to visit and when I do, I definitely plan to fly through MKE.

I gotta say, after regularly dealing with O'Hare, Midway, and Orlando airports, this was a breath of fresh air. Even after landing at one of the furthest gates, the walk to get to baggage claim was pretty easy. The bags had already started coming out on the conveyor even before we made it there (something that never happens at any of the aforementioned airports), and we had our luggage within about half an hour of landing. It was also easy enough to catch the parking shuttle, which was right outside the doors. I haven't flown out of here in years, so i can't really comment on that experience. But, I don't remember it being too horrible so it was probably a fine experience.

MY BAG WAS STOLEN AND THE STAFFS NEGLIGENCE TO HELP ENTER THIS CLAIM IS WHY IM FIGHTING THE AIRLINE TO REIMBURSE ME THOUSANDS of brand name items. This airport is trash. I asked for help with finding my bag as soon as I landed and no report was filed for 2 days after I called every day since the bag went missing. The employee at the baggage claim was rude, wouldn't give me a phone number to call and check in saying "someone will call me" - of course nobody did. Complete trash.

I mean as far as airports go, this is a pretty solid one. It's nice that it's smaller so it's quicker to navigate. I just wish they had more direct flights to some places so I don't have to go back and forth between flying from ORD and here. There would definitely be more people coming through if they had a tad more direct flight options and maybe if prices were cheaper too!!

This was smaller than most airports I go through but still very nice. I had a quick work trip to Milwaukee this week, flying in Wednesday and flying out Thursday. I arrived around 9:00 a.m. Wednesday and I was supposed to leave around 6:30 p.m. today, but unfortunately Delta delayed the flight 1.5 hours. I wanted something quick for dinner and I ended up going to Great American Bagel in the D terminal, they had a chicken pesto panini that was tasty. They also have two or three sitdown places in the D terminal. Something pretty cool they have that I haven't seen anywhere else is an area with a bunch of Adirondack chairs, and all of the chairs are facing an area where you can watch the planes take off. This was quite peaceful and relaxing, at least before I found out my flight was delayed, haha... Security was also a breeze, I do have Precheck but even the regular line looked short. There's also a kids' play area that looked really cute, past security. I was staying in downtown Milwaukee and this is a quick 20-minute Uber ride from downtown, as well.

I am by no means a seasoned airporter but I am a big fan of Milwaukee. MKE is a nice little airport in central 'murica serving a middling city in the finest way. got in on tuesday afternoon and good signage and clear directions helped me find my luggage in short order and make my way over to ground transportation to pick up my rental with almost zero drama. out on saturday with similar experience but in reverse. yea!! seems like a lot of places to exchange monies for food, or clothing, or trinkets on both sides of the TSA perimeter. the walk in from/out the plane was sufficient to work the kinks but not tiring. the main terminal seemed almost loungey, offering a gracious welcome to Cheeselvania and inviting you to hang out and sample some aged cheddar before heading off to the supper club... seating at the gates can get tight but it doesn't last too long as the airport is smallish and most folks seem to have their TSA timing down pretty well. on the free side of security is the Mitchell Gallery of Flight with informative displays and models and dioramas and stuff to inspire visitors by sharing bits of Wisconsin's role in aviation history.

Overall my experience at MKE was a breeze. There was literally no one in front of me at TSA Pre Check and only one person in front of me at the security belt. Really, pretty awesome! I rented a car and found the rental car location easy to navigate and I always appreciate when it is directly on site. Before you hit security they do have quite a few restaurant/bar options to choose from. I imagine this setup works out great when there isn't a line at security that you have to worry about rushing through. They also have the best bookstore I've ever encountered at an airport prior to security as well. Literally I would arrive early to my flight next time so I could take my time browsing the book store. Once through security food options are a bit limited, but also pretty standard for an airport. I felt like the gates were roomy and folks weren't all on top of each other. Overall a super pleasant and low key airport to fly from.

My favorite airport, but maybe I'm biased. Almost always speedy time through security. Love our recombobulation area to get our lives together after TSA. Plenty of good food and coffee options.

I visit many airports through out the year and I would have to say this one is easy to find your way around. Clean and updated compare to a lot of airports. I do like that rental car is located at the airport and you don't have to take a shuttle.

Who puts carpet throughout an entire airport??? It makes it so difficult to drag your suitcase, i need a new shoulder after pulling it from security to my gate! And yes i don't pack light! As for the second star? It's because there's lots of options for food and coffee!

When we landed here around 9:30 pm from our connecting flight from Denver, the airport looked like a ghost town and in need of a good upgrade. Our flight from SFO to Denver was delayed twice and we had little time to make it to our connecting flight to Milwaukee. They did offer a free stay at Denver if you can't make your flight but we managed to make it. I got a text from United that one of our baggages didn't arrive and will be delivered the next day. We picked up one luggage and gave the United baggage claim our address in Brookfield. There were several unclaimed baggage on the floor. We walked out the airport where our friends picked us up. It was a 30 minute ride home and we realized that my husband erroneously left my carry on bag on the counter of the baggage claim. So we had to drive back to the airport to check if it was still there. The place looked pretty empty but there was another United flight coming at midnight. We reached the airport and sure enough, my hand carry was still on the counter, the agent didn't even noticed it. I checked the contents and everything was there. Milwaukee people, you're very trusting and honest, thank you! If that happened in SF, I think someone would have walked away with it!

A convenient airport for folks in the Milwaukee and Madison areas especially if you don't want to hassle with O'Hare in Chicago for international departures. Most recently I had a domestic flight in the afternoon and when I reached TSA security, there was no line. First time I've experienced that at any airport. Parking is $14 / day, but their saver lot (which is uncovered) is $8/day.

It has been awhile since flying out of MKE but the Southwest flights are a relative bargain so we drove the hour or so from Madison. We parked off the airport property and took a shuttle bus. Given this is a relatively small airport getting through the lines was no big deal mid morning off-season. I do like their small flight museum before you go through security - very educational and entertaining. They have a decent number of food places. Overall a good experience except for Southwest Airlines' ineptitude (but that is not the airports fault!)

As a Minnesota transplant, I always expect delays and to give myself enough leeway when I head to the airport. TSA lines, baggage check lines ect. However now that I have been in Milwaukee long enough and have gotten to know this airport I can't say enough good things about it! There can be a delay to check a bag if its a busy time, but they move quickly whether it is Delta or Southwest. TSA usually takes 10-15 minutes, but today I had TSA Pre Check. From door drop off, checking a bag to the recombobulation area of the airport took me less than 10 minutes today. I wouldn't cut it too close, but I appreciate how efficient they seem to be here!

I am so thankful for our airport! Small, fast, and easy to navigate. The restaurant and shopping options are growing. Enough places to get what you need before your flight. Bathrooms could be cleaner and replenished more often. I will always fly out of and into MKE when I can. We're so lucky to have an airport of this caliber in our backyard.

In A Nutshell: -MKE is a pretty nice airport. -I saw signs that said it was voted the best airport in North America, but I honestly feel like San Jose is the best overall. -This airport is small to mid-sized, but it's considered an international airport which is cool. -It's laid out well w/ plenty of clean restrooms, a decent selection of restaurants & smooth airport security. Overall, this is a nice airport to pass through when you are visiting Wisconsin.

Disappointed that none of the restaurants or coffee shops are open when you have a 5 AM flight. Would've been nice to get breakfast in a cup of Joe before they go.

Airport TSA and concourse are sweltering hot!!! 65 degrees outside and easily 80 inside.

Tip: The bubbler is located close to the security checkpoint. Fill up your refillable bottle there as you won't find another water dispenser close to your gate! (You can ask me how I know!).

Seems a bit outdated and needs a new coat of paint, but it's nothing horrible. Most of the shops when we were there on a friday in the late afternoon/early evening were mostly closed, which was odd to me. A few concourses and security was easy to get through. Just not really visually appealing and doesn't really "sell" Milwaukee like many other airports do.

In all my years of traveling domestically and internationally I have Never seen an airport run so smoothly. It is small (like MCI) and there was literally no line as I checked my luggage to fly to Kansas City. Unbelievable! The Southwest ticket agents were as sweet as apple pie (hate I failed to get their names) as well as the TSA staff. No hassle. I walked directly through the TSA line and was The Only Person passing through. My plane was on time and I was ready to go. I passed by a really cool Farmers Fridge with lots of healthy choices to select. Everything was easy, breezy. Talk about slap happy, Wow...that was me! I know this is not the majority of travelers' experience, but my goodness, Kudos in every way to General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for making my travel experience One-in-a-million!

Nice small airport that is easy and quick to navigate. You'll get in and out of here in no time. Staff are friendly and has many of the usual stores in it. Lines are easily navigated, check points are pretty fast and they have a really good system going. Lots of areas to sit and food is OK. I wish more airports were so fast to navigate to your gates.

It's not a bad airport, though the lounge situation is definitely lacking. There's plenty of clean places to sit, a few restaurants if needed, and minor shopping. Security line got really backed up when we were there despite it not being very busy. With only one tsa agent confirming boarding passes and one scan line, it took a while. Rental car return was easy and just across the street from the airport, so much better than taking a shuttle. Bathrooms were decently cleaned, and the gates were free of trash with some charging stations. Not top of my list to be stuck in for a long period, but not the bottom either.

I'm always like, how do airports get 4 or 5 stars on Yelp? Waking up early to head to MKE was a chore after sleeping at midnight, but I was pleased with my experience. The rental car area is so close to the terminal, and each concourse has its own security... what a way to mitigate lines. MKE is small but not TOO small. Gives me bright, colorful, modern vibes. Several restaurants and coffeeshops were open at 5am, which is insane. Most airports I visit (and I travel for work a lot) don't have that option. MKE thinks of every possible accommodation--even nursing pods and independent food kiosks for when there isn't anything open. Everyone was nice, and travel was overall super smooth.

I drove to MKE as I was supposed to fly from MKE to Vegas via ORD. When I showed up at United's counter, the attendant told me that flight was cancelled without providing a reason. She then gave me a bus voucher to ORD. I wasn't sure if I had enough time to make the connection and had so much anxiety. When I questioned the reason of the flight cancellation, she said this happened all the time. Excuse me?! This is probably my 2nd time flying out of MKE and it's news to me. Thought her attitude can be better. While waiting for the bus, I had a hard time finding a table near an outlet for doing some work. Both tables inside Starbucks were taken and I simply can't believe that there aren't any work stations for an international airport!!

Clean, spacious, and a variety of LOCAL food options. I wish LAX was like this. The TSA is a bit ticky tacky but we will persevere.

Very easy airport to get through. The TSA lines were not long at all when we came through on a Saturday afternoon then again on a Monday afternoon. It was pretty quiet but still had several options for food and souvenirs, etc. I was originally going to give it 4 stars on the basis that it doesn't have a Clear TSA line, but it does have TSA PreCheck. But even if it didn't, from what I can tell you don't even need those to get through TSA quickly.

This airport is not maintained. There is a moving walkway from parking to the terminal that has been out of order for over two years. One of the parking structure elevators has been out of order for almost a year. If they are waiting for parts, how could it take years? You rip out the old walkway and put a new one in for much less time. Who is responsible for maintaining this airport??

Update time. Mitchell International Airport is still one of my favorite airports. It's easy to fly into, easy to find transportation and easy to get through security. After you enter the airport and pass the check in area, an escalator will take you upstairs to a good-sized gathering space. There, you can grab a bite to eat and / or buy some Wisconsin-themed gifts for your loved ones. It's also a good place to spend your last hangs with anybody who is seeing you off, before you head through security, or a place where your friends or loved ones can greet you after you land. This is especially convenient during Wisconsin's colder months. Once you're past security, or if you're just connecting, you'll enjoy a comfortable traveling experience. The concourses feature wide hallways where you can wander at your own pace. Those concourses also house a wide variety of dining and adult beverage spaces. Gift shops too. IF YOU'RE TRAVELING WITH KIDS, CHECK OUT THE CHILDREN'S PLAY ROOMS. Yes, I'm shouting. They're worth it and I wish more airports had them.

my favorite airport I've been in. I fly out during early morning and it's very dark and peaceful, just how I like it. Very clean and has plenty of shops.

Best airport by far . Good food . Good drinks . You get in and through security and everything faster than anywhere else.
