Milwaukee Public Market

We found metered parking on the corner & came for lunch. The small public market is packed with delicious. The most beautiful food, even the produce was gorgeous here. This has been ranked one of the best food holds in the country and now I understand why. This is truly food porn!!! This is Milwaukee's iconic food & event destination filled with unique, high quality selections of artisan & ethnic products, and freshly-made prepared foods. We were able to eat in the Market's second floor Palm Garden & take some purchases home. Parking is available nearby & hours are 10 AM until 8 PM daily closing at 6 on Sundays. Cookies, coffee, sausages, flowers, olive oil, beer, spices, fish, seafood, produce ... look pristine. Thai, Greek, Mexican .. cuisines were presented beautifully. The Market also showcases cooking classes featuring instructors ranging from our own vendors & local chefs to nationally known cookbook authors.

Milwaukee Public Market is an iconic destination in Milwaukee. I had to visit it during my first time in Milwaukee. I visited markets in various cities, and this one particularly blew me away. It was so modern, clean, and the vendors were fantastic! Market Layout: The market has an open layout. Instead of stands, each vendor has more of store fronts. There's a good mix of sit-down and takeaway places. The market has two levels, but is well laid out so you don't have to wander. Vendors: Here you'll find spices, cheese, bakery, candy, Mexican food, wine, flowers, fish, and more. Like a true tourist, I only shopped for cheese. I'd venture out to support more vendors, but I had to fly back home next morning. And so, I found myself at the West Allis Cheese & Sausage Shoppe! I purchased an embarrassing amount of cheese and also cheese curds. Cheese curds were heavenly. What I especially loved about his vendor is that I could ask which cheese would travel best and how to transport it. I also asked about most popular cheeses. I was incredibly happy with my purchases. Everyone in my family ate charcuterie for weeks. They were not complaining. Events: Milwaukee Public Market hosts Night Market during summer and early fall. It's a fun outdoor occasion with vendors, music, and fun. There are other events published on their site. If you're a tourist in Milwaukee, check out nearby sights. This area is very walkable. Milwaukee RiverWalk is a short walk away. So are a few hotels. I highly recommend visiting this market. And the cheese curds - so good, try them!

Love the Milwaukee Public Market! We always find something fun to try, and have attended several events upstairs. The Spice House is our go-to for spices, Forage Kitchen is always a great choice, we love all of the sweet treats available, so many local foods florals and gift items. We haven't even tried all of the vendors yet! I love the outdoor seating when the weather cooperates, and the upstairs area for when you prefer to sit indoors and soak in the vibes. The parking lot is a nice option, and there is street or other lot parking within a short distance. You can hop on The Hop right nearby, too!

A nice spot along the river walk. We bought our Wisconsin cheese from here. They have plenty of restaurants and food places here. It's easy to navigate around, and staff we encountered were nice and helpful.

Wide selection of food to eat there or to go. We went to get lobster rolls at the St. Paul Fish Company. Their lobster rolls are the best in Wisconsin. The lobster roll comes with fries and it cost $1 to add a pop (no free refills). Pop is one size. I would call it a medium pop. It is a little wait when they are busy since, they are made to order. Check out person did not have many words but, was friendly(ish).

OMG - what a start to our stay in Milwaukee. Within an hour of our flight landing, we had checked into our hotel and walked to the historic third ward to the Milwaukee Public Market and we spent a good two hours doing a progressive style dinner experience. We loved the energy, the options, the vibes. We stated with St. Paul Fish Company Lobster Roll, then hit up Thainamite for a Sushi Roll, tried Wisconsin based drinks from West Allis and enjoyed looking at all the vendors and shops. The restrooms were very clean, the staff working the venue would helpful with directions of places to sit and eat - highly recommend the upstairs!

I've had this place on my to do list for a very long time . It reminded me of pike place market in Seattle but smaller. I enjoyed the options they had to offer . It was very clean and I will visit again if I'm in the area . Service was great , options were affordable,

The Milwaukee Public Market is a favorite of mine. You can find a variety of foods from local businesses. Pictured I had a flourless peanut butter cookie from C Adam's Bakery and a dirty chai latte from Anodyne! Perfect sweet treat while running my midday errands. The cookie itself was $3.75 and was well worth the price for such a big cookie!

The Public Market is a great spot with the variety of options for all ages. Sandwiches, sushi, fresh seafood, cheeses, candy, wine galore and more St. Paul's Fish Market was a fun spot for a happy hour 10/10 recommend. Especially with the fresh selection available. Quick service, nice people and fun environment.

I absolutely love the public market. There are so many options for everyone from salads, to bloody Mary's, to spectacular seafood and oysters. Oysters. There's also unique cooking classes and a fun wine bar to hang out. Out. My personal favorite is the tiki bar outside that is always popping with people. A must see in Milwaukee.

The Public Market was the highlight of my trip to Milwaukee. The market is absolutely massive with so much to do. My friend and I did a wine tasting and had such a good time. There are so many restaurants and shops where you can easily be here for a couple hours. They have a large variety of food stands so there is something for everyone. What stood out to me was the massive Bloody Mary drinks. It had a whole charcuterie bars on it with veggies, cheese curds and meat. It could easily be a meal in itself. I will gladly come back to the Public Market

We stopped in just to see what the Milwaukee Public Market was all about. Saturday afternoon and it was quite busy. There are several shops the sell everything from spices to cheese to baked goods, seafood, ready made meals, candy, BBQ, and wine. We didn't get down to really shopping, but it was a neat experience.

I enjoyed visiting the Public Market on my visit to Milwaukee. It had a diverse selection of different restaurants, bakeries, and shops. There are coffee shops, bakeries, seafood counters, sausages, cheeses, jerkies, souvenirs, spices, etc. If you've ever been to Atlanta, it reminded me of Ponce City Market. The Public Market was clean and not too crowded. We tried a mango habanero sausage with fries from one of the delis. The worker was friendly. As far as taste, the sausage was a bit too spicy that it overwhelmed the flavor of the sausage and mango, but the fries and sauces were great. There was not one fry leftover. I liked that there was seating upstairs. The seating was plenty and it had a nice view of the street. I think if this is your first time in Milwaukee, this is a decent itinerary item to put on your list. The Public Market does seem touristy but it's not excessively overpriced and you have a selection of different places to check out.

Good selection of different cuisines and vendors as well as some souvenirs. A bit on the smaller side but love that they have a whole upstairs for seating and a cute outdoor area as well. Not too expensive which is great!

This is a must stop for anyone visiting Milwaukee! It's a fun place to grab lunch, walk around, and grab some souvenirs! They have a seafood restaurant, vegan friendly options, an awesome spice shop, small food shops for meats and cheeses, and so much more. Upstairs there is also a public seating area to sit and chat and eat anything from the market.

A smaller version of Reading market in Philly. A little more manageable. Bottom floor has all kinds of restaurants and shops from boutique candy, mini grocery, butchers to seafood and affordable middle eastern food. There is something for everyone. Love that the top floor is dedicated seating and there is even a play area for kids.

If you are visiting from MN, know that this is comparible to the former Keg and Case when it was in full commission. The MKE market has all fresh items including sea food, meat and cheese, baked goods, spices, the classic Spotted Cow beer on tap and some other fun and unique spots including "Aladdin" which serves the popular Dubai chocolate over strawberries. On this particular visit we were doing a grab and go trip but I would recommend planning a full meal here if you have the time as there are varying cuisines to comb through such as Mexican and seafood. In addition, the cherry on top is the coffee shop which ties it all together. The value is pretty on par to other markets and the reason I am rating 4 stars is because I had imagined this would be a larger market. Enjoy!

Definitely a cool place to check out if your in the area. They have everything. From great lunch options, desserts, spices, seafood, meat, beer/wine, flowers. Whatever you need they probably have it. Was in town for work and walked around with my co workers. We settled on the seafood place on the corner for lunch. I had a crab cake sandwich which was delicious. I got extra remoulade sauce, which I'm glad I did because the bread kind of soaked up most of the sauce that already came on it. Staff wasn't the friendliest that day, but my overall experience at the market was amazing. The upstairs level has plenty of seating for you to enjoy. I also got some chocolate covered almonds and some peanut butter cups. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town to try some more options.

The Milwaukee Public Market may seem like a tourist trap to some but that's now exactly how I see it. I'm a local and I enjoy going there weekly for lunch, catching up with friends, shopping, or to try some wine. The market has a lot to offer and I enjoy sitting at the tables outside in the summer. It can get really crowded inside and you may feel like a sardine at times, so I would recommend going early morning when they open and definitely not during the lunch hour.

There is so many amazing options in this place I went to Saint Paul and I went to the barbecue spot in here and both meals were equally as good when I go back it's gonna be a real pain in the butt to decide which one I'm gonna have. I highly recommend going here, but the place gets really busy maybe try to do some off peak hours?

St. Pauls seafood is a MUST as well as ORO the olive oil/balsamic vinegar shop tucked away (on the same side as SPS next to the gorgeous lil flower shop. Andy is always busy shuckin away along with his cohort (forgot his name but Brunette handsome dude lol) theyve delivered many an oyster to me and I will be back for more! I tried two of each on offer and must say while blue points are bigger; the pacific sunset and duxburys are way more flavorfull! I wanted to try a lobster roll for the first time but got back too late for my to-go dinner order, I did try the lobster bisque however and it's a solid 7.9/10, no meaty chunks but very good! As for ORO I was assisted by Tamara and am now ruined for grocery story evoo... I mean I get it- true quality ingredients tend to be special order, alas I am grateful to be bringing home their "every day oil" the Arbequina; some Tuscany Herb (that IS cold pressed with garlic and herbs and would be the perfect oil to serve with bread pre-Italian dinner night or with a charcuterie board. I mixed that with a splash of the black garlic balsamic and let me tell yoU now- I will be ordering it asap because I am so ready for the epic salad dressing I intend to make with it. Before I left I grabbed a blackberry lime cupcake from the bakery (also on the same side near the mini grocery stand) and am thoroughly enjoying my Ukranian/Greed Goddess/Green Chili Ranch dry seasonings I got last time I was there from the Spice market on the end of the hall. If you have always wanted to level up your home chef game you really ought to shop at markets like this. I'm looking forward to the local honey and "dirt cake" rice krispy treat I snagged on my way out (from the place that serves those epic bloody marys with lobster tails & hopes and dream kebabs in em lol). I wish markets like this were everywhere I traveled to! Did I mention the prices are pretty amazing? Great value indeed. Bon appetit.

Such a cute space. Lots of yummy goodies, fresh market items and cute souvenirs to take home. Perfect way to end the trip.

I really like this public market when it isn't packed to the gills with people. I had the chance to stop on a weeknight and it is miles better than on the weekend. My only gripe is the parking and cost. You can get validated by making a purchase with a vendor or by attending a class though. They also have a few new vendors setting up and soon to open so looking forward to that. Stopped in for a sourdough demo class upstairs and it was set up really well. You checked in, got your validation and could take a seat. They also offered glasses of wine, beer and soda for sale in the back ($8-10 range). The staff were really friendly and seemed to work with the demonstrator well. Our teacher was very knowledgeable and patient with the group's many questions. Aside from the cost being a little steep for a class that wasn't hands-on, I'd try this again. Might also go to the market more often and stick to the weekdays.

Amazing aesthetic, and diverse shops. We got #1 rated cheese, and delicious food from St. Paul Fish Co. The jamaican jerk swordfish was an adventurous try!

Super crowded but tons of food options from around the world. Tried a smoothie and sushi from one of the vendors. A little expensive but worth checking out. There is Wisconsin merch to go through as well.

This place is massive. We visited this place twice when we were in Milwaukee for a couple of days. They have multiple eateries and some shops that sell items such as spices and Milwaukee apparel.

Service selection and value all are great. This is a packed place to be for all ages. Grab a meal head upstairs and prepare to body-check your way to an open table ! Fun and friendly and the Pizzas and calzones are great as is the chocolate and cakes!

I randomly stopped by the Oyster Bar at the Milwaukee Public Market, and I'm so glad I did! One staff member impressed me by keeping track of the waitlist all in her head. - Fresh Oysters: The oysters were amazing and affordable even outside happy hour! I had a variety: Blue Point, Beausoleil, Savage Blonde, Foxley River, Salty Mainer, and Pacific Sunset. My favorite was the Savage Blonde--small, meaty, and with a refreshing cucumber-like taste. They serve them with horseradish and a variety of sauces. I like mine simple, but my partner added a bit of everything. I might be planning another trip to Milwaukee just for these oysters! - Fried Grouper Taco: This brought me back to the first time I had grouper in Florida. The fish was soft, meaty, and flavorful, with just a perfect crisp on the outside. There was a tad bit more sauce than I would typically prefer, but the balance of flavors was spot on, and it worked perfectly with the fish. I would've ordered another if I wasn't full of oysters. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and fantastic seafood. Definitely recommend!

A really fun spot! But always so crowded and very limited parking! Was fun to take guests here back in the day but now I feel there are better options in Milwaukee.

I love to explore the public markets in the cities I visit. There's huge ones like Seattle's Pike Place or Detroit's Eastern Market. This one isn't quite on that scale, but it's still fun to explore. It reminds me of Findlay Market in Cincinnati with the number of prepared foods available. One thing I liked is the large amount of seating avaliable. It's located on the second floor so you have a great time people watching. The bathrooms are also on the second floor, and if you sit near the coffee shop you can snag their wifi too from the seats. The market is very clean and well maintained, so it definitely encourages you to linger. They have a parking lot that's free for the first 30 minutes. If you know what you need to buy, you can get in and out quickly and not need to pay! Otherwise you have to either use their lot or find street parking (pay to park, usually a 2 hour limit).

While I feel this is the "OG" public market/food hall in Milwaukee, the concept has grown past it's humble downtown-third ward beginnings. People still flock to this space, particularly during lunch hours. I feel like most vendors are banking on the foot traffic/convenience/"haberdashery" of being at the gate of the "prestigious" Third Ward rather than quality of service. Essentially, everything here moves very slow until you have accomplished your mission. I have always feel pressured from waitstaff and other patrons to give up my coveted seat the second I think I might be finished. Speaking of waitstaff, I've both witnessed and experienced some rather unfriendly interactions :( The parking situation is.... a situation. The small parking lot is free for the first 30 minutes, but it may take you 15 minutes to get a space (if you are lucky), and another 10 minutes to get to the food stall you are looking for among the sea of people. I've ordered food for pick up and had my 30 minutes expire while in line to leave the lot. At least the person working the booth that day showed a bit of sympathy and even said how crazy it has gotten. The only reason I have been here a few times is to visit new/unique vendors or because I was working within walking distance. You can easily find other experiences in less hectic parts of town with help from Yelp and Google.

Definitely a fun place to get lunch and pick up treats for later. The cheese shop had so many amazing options. Buy the cheese knife there if they have some. It cuts cheese like butter!!! There is a bakery that has super yummy treats. It's right near the River Walk if you need to burn off calories after visiting there. It was packed the day we visited on the weekend. Plus we parked near the Chase Bank and the parking was free on the weekends. Just a short walk from the market. Near the kayak rental venue. Fun stop in Downtown Milwaukee!

So nice, we went there twice! On a two day trip to Milwaukee we came here twice, once for general shopping and once for breakfast. It's not just a food hall, but also has items you can take to go, including fish, sausages, cheese and charcuterie, beer and wine, candy and ice cream, and spices. But there are plenty of places to grab a bite as well (our breakfast came from West Allis Cheese and Sausage), or a drink (the day drinking culture in Wisconsin is apparently no joke: a girl was sitting right outside the doors boking into a deli container before dinner time on Saturday; at least the cleanup crew was standing by ready to mop up after her!) The upper floor has many tables to sit at and watch all the hustle and bustle from above. It was only from this vantage point that I noticed the clock: it tells the time at five other famous markets around the world (I had been to two of them!) All told, we picked up spice blends from The Spice House, brats and Polish sausage from Foltz Family Market, a variety of candies from Freese's, and postcards from Brew City Brand Apparel. This is a convenient spot to get many tastes of Milwaukee at one time! A must-stop for foodies.

A great place to explore when in downtown Milwaukee. There are a variety of food and vendors to pick from. To get a great Bloody Mary +/- a lobster tail visit the St. Paul Seafood Company. They also have great oysters on the half shell. Feel free to walk around and try different vendors/food. Head upstairs for seating to enjoy it with TVs playing football games on the weekends.

Public Market is situated in the one 3rd Ward and steeped in history of the cities interesting and colorful past. A wide open space gives you the feeling you're outdoors or at least not crammed packed with people. You get the feeling many if not most of its visitors are locals. It's a diverse crowd indicative of Milwaukee's rich history. Super clean and uniquely appointed as a wide open retro warehouse feel it's two floors provide an extremely spacious area with plentiful seating. You can park in back for a reasonable fee and walk the 3rd Ward neighborhood outside and even catch the trolley/bus system the 3rd Ward boasts. The surrounding neighborhood offers a wide array of its own slice of Milwaukee. The Public Market is packed full of unique restaurants and shops offering everything from specialty groceries and sweets, clothing items, and beverages to excellent dining options. It's is just as it calls itself, a public meeting space of the best kind. Unlike so many touristy type markets of its kind in other cities Milwaukee's Public Market gives you a very local vibe. It's a very reasonably priced market and you definitely get a bang for your buck. This is a great way to get a real Wisco local vibe and enjoy some excellent offerings. Great for groups or just a local day trip. If I lived there it would be my second office.

There is a great variety of food options here, both to eat at the market or to take home with you. Always very clean, and tidy through a tight spaces when a lot of people are here. I've always had excellent service, never waiting more than 10 minutes for daily made food. And I would've expected to pay more for my food as it's been a few years since I've been back, but the pricing was honestly surprising decent. I got quite a lot of food for the price. Within the market, I ate at Foltz. Their Santa Fe panini was AMAZING. The chicken was so tender and excellently seasoned, I kept picking it out of the sandwich. Grilled to perfection and the veggies were not mushy

Cool space worth a visit as there are is a variety of cuisines and other vendors inside. You can get breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between all I'm one place

Always a MKE staple. I've been to the coffee shop, to the meat and cheese shop, and many time to St. Paul Fish co. This is my favorite place to come and I look forward to coming back whenever I'm in MKE!

This is one of the smaller public markets I've been to, but still definitely worth the visit. They have a small parking lot next door, which was crowded but convenient. They had a large variety of vendors - baked goods, candy, chocolate, seafood, sandwiches, and much more. Went on a Sunday afternoon, and it was decently crowded. I recommend you go during non-peak hours.

We are tourists. I have been to places like Reading Terminal, Brewhalla, Optimist Hall- basically all kinds of public markets in other cities. What I was hoping for- a nice balance of food and shops selling home goods or local artists work. We walked through the MPM and it was: do you want cheese and meat to cook at home with? It wasn't what we were looking for. I spent all of 7 minutes in this crowded building. We literally turned right around and left.

This is a solid public market for Milwaukee! There are pretty cool vendors there, but it is a very crowded space. Seating can be hard to find during specific times, so keep that in mind! All vendors were priced typically for a food hall space, so a bit on the expensive side. I would love this space to have another floor or wing for some additional space and more restrooms. This is still a place you should stop at if you are in MKE!

Visited MPM last month while visiting from Phoenix. I ate at the fish restaurant-Excellent walleye and sides and great service as well. Very charming place. A must visit!

Since I'll be moving here in a month, this was one of my favorite places to visit. I know I'll be here every weekend!

What a treasure chest in the heart of downtown Milwaukee! Here's hoping Indy's market overhaul will look similar to this concept. We visited the market on a Saturday morning en route to Door County for vacation. Fair warning that parking can be a bit congested and tricky during this time at the market. Inside you'll find two floors of delicious business ranging from vegan and Indian eats to a bakery, coffee shop and bbq. There's truly something for everyone- dietary restrictions and all. We enjoyed our vegan "corned beef" sammie and cappuccinos. If we didn't have a toddler and newborn with us, we would have explored (and consumed ;) more. If visiting for the first time, I'd suggest checking it out on a weekday when the market is probably less crowded. Overall, a fabulous lunch pit stop.

This place is chaotic, but in a good way; I wish we had more time here (or more of an appetite when we came), because there seem to be so many good places to explore. If you're looking for some good souvenirs, this place also has some great local goods - especially sauces, pickles, seasonings, etc. Ultimately, we only tried one spot - which was good - but would definitely be back for more options!

Always amazing in so many ways. A wonderful variety of vendors and food selections from value to exquisite. I highly recommend the market for so many reasons. Great wines, great beer, great food!
