How to Plan the Perfect Trip to Naples, Italy

"A family-run trattoria opened in 1943 near Napoli Centrale that has drawn celebrities including filmmaker Federico Fellini and the actor known as Totò; come for the lively atmosphere and Neapolitan classics such as grilled peppers stuffed with ham, cheese, and bread or pasta with potatoes and provola cheese." - Laura Itzkowitz Laura Itzkowitz Laura Itzkowitz is a writer and editor based in Rome. Was recommended this place from a cab driver and it did not disappoint. Great food. Great service. Everything was delicious and the staff was so friendly. We got there a bit early and my mom walks with a cane. When we came back a few minutes later and the place was filling in, the gentleman who I presume is the owner has saved the spot by the door for my mom. Best food I had in Naples. Will visit again next time I am in town

Average to say the least, we waited over an hour to get a table, the glasses for our water were hot and wet straight from the dishwasher, the pasta i had was like the one i was served in school in the 80’s, my friends had cannelloni and left half of it, had to wait ages to pay the bill. Not reccommended, i’m Italian and it is my first day in Naples, i am baffled at the great reviews vs the reality of this place. Don’t waste your time. Oh, and a 15% service charge is automatically added to your bill. Service is not good either.

Great classic Neapolitan food. Attentive and friendly service. Food served very efficiently. Walk-ins only for groups of 2 so its recommended to reach for opening time as the room filled up very quickly.

Amazing experience. Everything was great from the food, to the drinks and the service. Bao buns were a great starter and the tiramisu was top tier. Highly recommend if anyone is in the area.

We had lunch at Mimì alla Ferrovia and the food was excellent — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The restaurant was very busy, so it’s definitely worth booking in advance (we reserved two days before and there was still a line outside). Service was friendly, but our dishes didn’t all arrive at the same time since we were a group of eight. Overall, a great experience with authentic food and lively atmosphere

Google
A fantastic lucky random find! Our family of 9 had a great lunch here. The dining environment was clean and comfortable, the service friendly and courteous, and the food was delicious. A great experience overall!

Google
Amazing traditional Neapolitan trattoria. The food was exceptional and would definitely recommend trying, we went as soon as it opened for dinner around 7pm and within half an hour the restaurant tables were all full. The ravioli with sea bass, with bottle fish in lemon sauce was my favourite dish. It was delicious, I’d go there just to have that dish again. My partner enjoyed the beef cannelloni and we shared the eggplant parmigiana, fillet of sea bass, limoncello and baba a rhum desserts. All of the food was sensational. The only reason for dropping a star is due to the serving of red wine, the waiter let the wine drip over the table which was not m keeping with the rest to the service.

Excellent, totally worth the wait in the line! The best pasta I have even had in my life! The waiter Giuseppe was so careful and attentive to my needs, that he, with 100 % accuracy, guessed what exactly I wanted to it, which was not in the menu, and asked the chef to cook it just for me. Grazie Giuseppe! The owner of the restaurant is a very nice gentleman, who personally greets the people. The restaurant is pretty elegant, but you are not frowned upon, if you are not dressed up to it!

Yelp
One of the best restaurants I've ever ate at. The service was amazing, food was absolutely flavorful, and ambience was lively yet relaxing. Everything was so fresh and made with such love. Will be dreaming about this meal when I get back to my country. 100000/10

Yelp
Spent one night near Naploli Centrale (area is very dirty and gross, lots of trash everywhere, wouldn't stay near here ever again) and lucked out that this place was a short walk away. Very cute sidewalk seating and the food was great. Good wine selection. We got there around 8:30 and got seated pretty quickly for wanting outside, and by 9:00 there was quite the line. Service was good. Not everyone's English was good, but way better than our Italian. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
I had read that while in Naples I should try buffalo mozzarella and pasta a la Genovese and this place had both! The buffalo mozzarella was huge, way too much for just myself but really good, and the pasta was excellent. I wish I had stayed longer to enjoy some dessert.

Yelp
Ricotta stuffed pepper roll and Mozzarella de buffol with shrimp tartar were so unexpectedly amazing. Condella ala genovese, was inspired. Paired with some delicious white wine and you understand why this place is so popular with natives. Dessert of fig and ricotta cake was simple, sweet and delicious. BTW, coming from America i wrote a google translated ask for a reservation for two (not knowing they don't accept reservations for so few guests). They happily obliged! Classic and comfortable. The staff was efficient but not terribly engaging or pleasant. We luckily met a table of a delightful father and son from Bologna (huge Basketball town...?) who translated a little for us and we are now convinced to make trip there. Mimi can be hard to get but worth the effort.

Yelp
Bustling interior. Delicious food. Welcoming servers. Tasty bread. They were willing to serve food not listed on the menu.

Yelp
What an experience! Luciano and the whole team made our lunch very memorable. He is a perfect waiter, polite but not boring. Actually not boring at all! We told the ower that we were afraid we might get charged extra for the comedy of Luciano, he was that funny. I am not gonna add spoliers but if you already are on good terms with him and he is in a good mood ask him to take a pic of your table. Our results were hilarious :D But we were not only big fans of Luciano and the owner and the whole team we all left satisfied. Surprisingly good is their house wine, especially the red one. Don't hesitate to order their red. It is outstanding and local. Same goes for the white.

Yelp
Amazing night at Mimi's. They have Gragnano! The service is excellent and we highly recommend the tastes of Naples antipasti. Thank you for a wonderful dinner :)

Yelp
Exuberant cover charge. 25% of our meal. Food was descent. The items we ordered totaled $33, but the total was $42 euros. There were $4.2 cover charge plus another $4.3 service charge. This amounts to 25% more than what we expected. Now we understand why this restaurant was marked as expensive. We wasn't sure if the surcharges were listed on the menu though. Service was very fast and efficient. I ordered octopus in tomato. There were 4 octopus. Three were fresh and yummy. One was not as fresh. It tasted fishy and meat is not as chewy.

Yelp
Upon entering the restaurant around 9pm, a departing patron shared that he had arrived at 7 when they opened, and I wondered if I should have made a reservation. Viewing interactions between patrons and staff while we briefly waited for a table conveyed the notion that this restaurant has a loyal following. Mimi's does not have to solicit customers off the street; customers find this gem at the end of a dark alley (with help, if necessary, from a sign on the street pointing the way) because they want the five star experience at a three star price. And that is what we got. To be fair, I did not make the best choice in my entree. For best results, ask for recommendations. The experience on the whole was wonderful. The eggplant parmesan appetizer was a delight, for only €3. The rum cake, with a fresh soaking of rum, was spectacular. But the best part was the service, which gives one the feeling that Mimi's is not just a fine dining establishment but la mia famiglia. Upon taking leave, one may wonder whether a kiss on both cheeks is in order, or just a simple hug. I did neither but returned to the dark alley with the warm glow--not just from rum cake--of having been attended to lovingly and knowing that I must visit here again. A gratuity of 15% was added to the check, and there was no cover charge.

Yelp
I have been in Naples for about 6 months, and this is still one of my favorite spots. Pasta a little extra dente, but delicious with a fun staff.

Yelp
When I was stationed here in 1999 I would go ALL the time so I wanted to stop in during my short layover in Naples. Quick review: It was dead inside. I also chose to eat around 7:30 on a Monday...when I left around 9:30 it was packed. Buffalo mozzarella - still the best I have ever had in my life and I have eaten all over Italy. Pasta Forno-- I was basically drooling when it was brought out. It didn't disappoint. Service was not what it used to be and the menu seems way smaller than I recall it being. People think Piazza Garibaldi is a sketchy part of town. Just do you what you do in any major city-- be a little more vigilant. I would not say its dangerous at all.. Naples is just a very"in your face" city.

Yelp
Convenient to train station or markets. Involtini de peperoni (cheese/ham stuffed peppers) (2E) was great and so was pasta potate e provala(8E). Pranzo added up tp 20E with table charge, servizio and cafe. Elegant restaurant in a not so elegant part of town. Seafood and dolce seemed to be popular with regular customers so I might try those next time.

Yelp
25 euro two courses and small bottle of white wine. Very good food and waiter spoke some English. Will go here again. Sea food salad was very fresh and very good, I also had Pasta fagioli, and as I am getting use to the way Italians cook, this pasta seamed a little over cooked. But as I said before I will eat here again.
