Dining at Mini Bar in Lisbon is an experience that feels both playful and precise. The restaurant offers creative dishes that highlight bold flavors and inventive techniques without feeling overly formal or intimidating. It is an excellent way to enjoy the José Avillez experience in a relaxed and approachable setting.
I began with a few standout appetizers from the pre-fixe menu. The Tuna tartare temaki cone with spicy soya was fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced, while the Coastal prawn and aguachile tostada added a bright, citrusy kick with just the right amount of heat. The Green asparagus and lemon tempura was crisp and light, with a subtle tang from the lemon that elevated the vegetables. The Croquettes with truffled mustard and the Matured beef tartare with truffled dijonnaise and parmesan showcased depth and richness, with earthy truffle notes adding sophistication to each bite.
For mains, the Meagre with prawn moqueca sauce and white rice delivered comforting flavors with a Brazilian-inspired twist, and the Matured beef sirloin with truffle fries and parmesan was tender, savory, and perfectly cooked. The dessert options were equally impressive. The Chocolate cone in three textures was playful yet indulgent, and the Passion fruit globe provided a refreshing, tangy finish.
