The 13 Best Things to See and Do in Taipei in 2025
"I found the Miniatures Museum of Taipei delightfully strange: opened in 1997 and home to over 200 architectural miniatures (including a 1/12 scale Buckingham Palace); admission is 200 TWD." - Matthew Kepnes
This is the most comprehensive and extensive miniatures museum I have been to. The range, the genres and the level of design and details were incredible. It was a wonderful place to visit as a break from the torrential rain. The gift shop itself had an impressive array of miniatures, kits and collectibles. Worth the visit no matter what the weather or the age level. It's in the basement level of a modern office building lobby.

Didn’t know what to expect going in. It was one of the recommended attractions on the Taipei Fun Pass, so we gave it a go.
Oddly entertaining. Occupied the kids for a bit. Whether you are into miniatures or not, you will marvel at the intricate details of many of the dioramas.
What surprised me was, almost all of the pieces depicted historical western narratives, such as Victorian domestic scenes, western children’s stories, early American frontier towns, etc. I kinda thought there would be more Asian inspired pieces, seeing how this is in the city of Taipei.
Treat it as a quirky segue-way.
There was a good amount of visitors there on a rainy weekday afternoon.

100% worth a visit. I don't know what I was expecting, but the models were incredibly well made with so much detail. You can run through the place on 30 minutes. But to properly read the description (most of have english) and look at all the details took me a bit over 2 hours.

Had a good time there. I was very surprised to see a lot of incredible craftsmanship. I could spend hours there to admire the details. My boy had great time there making a miniature cake. With ACs, it's a great place to getaway from heat during summers.

Fantastic experience. If only it was more updated but for that 1 single floor of miniatures we spent 2hrs.
Each display is kept in pristine condition and you will be blown away by what you see.
Its located in an office building, but there are ample posters at the front to show you have reached. Stepping into the entrance, theres only 1 path to the lift. You can either take the stairs (also very obviously decorated) or take the lift down to B1.
There's a washroom, a gift shop and also luggage lockers although it depends on luck whether you'll get a slot.
The tickets are available at the counter, and will stamp your hand so you can leave and come back in the same day.

A compact museum, located in the basement of an office building. It does feel like a hidden gem. I really love their collection, ranging from realisitic, historical rooms and architectures to fantasy, dreamy sceneries from tales and folklore. You won't be disappointed. Although the space is not that vast, you can still spend whole day here.

Really really impressive. The museum initially seems small. You can see everything in 20 minutes. However, if you stop to really look carefully at each miniature scene, you will soon find over an hour’s worth of things to investigate. There are hidden details that really make the experience worth it. It is on the expensive side for museum entrance fees in Taiwan for what you see. However, it’s still worth a visit. Also, while the building is clearly marked on the outside, the museum entrance was a bit harder for me to find. Nonetheless, I recommend adding this museum to your itinerary.

If you have the time and you’re interested in exploring crafts in small sizes with high detail, then this is worth a visit
Most of them are done by a particular artist and they’re all in enclosed cabinets . The layout is like a museum exhibit with paintings so most of these exhibits are embedded into the wall.
They have a cute miniature Shop after the exit that has a good variety of stuff

Yelp
Reasonable ticket price and expansive exhibition space. MMoT is not a registered museum, but it does fulfill the qualities of a museum.
The miniatures are mostly replicas of Western architecture, so if you're hoping for Taiwanese or Asian sites, you'll only find a few common Japanese miniature sets.
However, the works that are present are fantastic and you could easily spend two hours there. It isn't terribly crowded on off days. Very quiet. I will go back with friends.

Yelp
So this place is interesting. I've been to Taipei several times and wanted to try something different. This is exactly what I was looking for. It's a few blocks from the subway and in the sub-basement of a business building. It's cheap and has a cute gift shop at the end. The miniatures are cool and complex. You can tell there hasn't been too much added since this place opened. So it has an old feel to it, but that's fine. I doubt this place is making money hand over fist. We blew through in about 30 minutes. So don't expect a full day of fun. It's more of a novelty experience. If you're looking for something out of the ordinary then drop in here.

Yelp
I didn't expect to really enjoy this museum or for my husband to. We both left saying, "That was pretty cool!"
Like many girls, I grew up with dolls, so maybe this pulled on my heart strings of seeing so many tiny miniatures/ dolls. Plus, the detail and obvious craftsmanship is amazing. The working tv or special effects to some of them are quite interesting. Further, the way it was arranged was quite nice, though the ending is a bit weird - dinosaurs???
I especially thought children would love it and having the "passport" they could stamp was a cute idea.
Overall, this was a lovely way to spend about an hour.

Yelp
This is the cutest museum you will ever visit!
I'm sure lots of girls, including myself, dreamt out having a dollhouse when they were younger.
This museum is going to blow your mind! Everything is so detailed. Definitely worth visit when you are here in Taipei.
Tickets are $180 NT, so around $5-6 USD.
A little bit expensive considering the size of museum is pretty small, but still worth coming!

Yelp
Super excellent museum!
I came here with my host family and I'm so glad they brought me because I never would have known this was here! It's kind of hidden in a giant office building so be careful not to miss it. From the exterior I thought the museum would be a small one, but I was totally wrong; it went on and on and on!
The exhibits are excellently presented and there are so many of them that you can definitely spend a few hours examining the delicate miniatures. They have everything from Alice in Wonderland to Snow White to old mining towns to Buckingham Palace!
Their gift shop is super cute too and worth a look. They sell a few of the miniatures so you can buy and take them home if you like!

Yelp
My 10 and 6 yrs old girls enjoyed it. They wished their house was like the Rose Mansion. Hahahhaa. Compared to ticket prices here in US, US$5-6 is not bad at all. This appeals to girls more than boys, I think. Hey, it has AC, restroom is clean(at least the lady's), and it is unusual. Minus one star for not all signs are translated into English.

Yelp
Not really worth the ntd180 to go in. There wasn't much to see and budgeting 1 hour for it was an overkill. Honestly, there are other museum with similar features ( ie Chicago art institute ground floor feature similar items in additional to famous painting ie American gothic)
