Minoru Centre for Active Living

The Centre has nice amenities, but the three main ones that I have used are... The 2nd floor workout room is well spaced out with LOTS of variety and is bright and looks out over the pools and play areas for little ones. The sauna, plunge pool and swimming pools are clean and well maintained. The complex is right beside the track and field so you can go for a run/walk and watch a game at the same time if you time it right.

Really nice recreational and community centre in the heart of Richmond. Located in the centre of sports fields and arena, it has a large aquatic centre, and an extensive fitness centre The washrooms and changing rooms are comfortable and clean. The centre has a small cafe with limited items. There is a Senior Centre in the building that has a cafeteria that is open to the public on weekdays The ambiance is nice and community like. Walking to the centre could be a bit of a walk depending which parking lot you chose

Overall just a really visually pleasing aesthetic. Very spacious gym. They got everything you need. Honestly it's not much more to say when a Jim's got everything you need. They got everything you need but the thing that really draws me here is they have a cold pool, the size of a hot tub and the contrast therapy is like nothing else for arthritic joints. You feel like 5 years younger when you're done two or three rounds of heat and cold. Especially after you beat the hell out of yourself in training

Early Dec2024 Part of the facility has been an upgrade to the Senior Center. Visited the center with my aunt and was delighted to see a thriving and bustling senior community very much engaged in multiple activities which gives a holistic experience to its members. The staff were very open and sociable as well as eager to answer questions. The place is modern and well maintained and has numerous amenities. Also interesting to note that their program provides organized tours and trips for the members for a fee as well as special themed classes.

This place is insanely over crowded. I have tried different days of the week and different times. There is ALWAYS a line for the private change rooms and the women’s change room is way too small. I have the try not to bump into others while changing. The sauna and cold plunge are of course wonderful but insanely packed, there are times where people don’t have room to sit in the sauna and the cold plunge barely has room for you to get in.

I'm a regular user of this facility, swimming almost weekly. The overall facilities and services have always been satisfactory, but recently I encountered a rather troubling privacy and security issue in the restrooms in the entrance lobby. I instinctively pressed the red button inside the door and closed it, but the door could still be opened from the outside, violating my privacy. I later learned that the lock requires "pressing and holding the red button until the light flashes" to be truly locked, but there was no clear signage or explanation on site. Restrooms are highly private spaces, and if the lock design isn't intuitive, users can easily be put at risk without realizing it. I hope the facility will review this type of lock design and improve the signage or mechanisms to prevent similar incidents from happening again. As a long-term user, I sincerely hope this otherwise reassuring place can be made even more considerate in the details.

Pretty nice facility overall, day pass provides access to the gym and pool which includes 2 Saunas, 1 Steam room and a cold plunge. Unfortunately the cold pool is only 10~ degrees so not enough to provide the necessary stimulation that ice baths give for recovery.

It has a leisure pool with river run, slide and rain shower, two 25 metre pools with a total of 14 lanes for lane swimming and aqua fit classes Family hot pool - Canada's largest hot tub, adult hot pool, polar plunge cold pool, steam room and saunas, rock climbing wall, drop slide with a 1.5 meter (5 foot) free-fall drop into the water and diving board. This centre also includes a bright and spacious 8,500 sq. ft. fitness centre with views overlooking the Minoru track. A range of machines and equipment are available.
