On the Grid : Miradouro Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen

"Right up the street from our studio is Miradouro da Graça, one of the most beautiful pine-shaded viewpoints overlooking the city of Lisbon. Officially named Miradouro Sofia de Mello Breyner Andresen, it got its name from Portuguese poet who spent many of her days admiring Lisbon from this spot. It is a favourite hangout for residents and visitors alike, thanks to its open-air café and fantastic views." - v-a

Stunning viewpoint!! Very easy to reach here from different points of the city center. I would recommend at first starting from Santa Apolonia to visit Alfama, and from there it’s not even 10 minutes. Later, you can also visit the Castle given that it’s pretty close too. Possible to easily spot on historical landmarks from this miradouro. Lots of cafes and bars are nearby, if you would like to.

I’ve been to Lisbon 3 times now and stayed for 2 weeks this trip & this is by far my FAVORITE VIEWPOINT! We’ve gone back multiple times this trip and it’s especially good at sunset. There’s a cafe/bar that overlooks the city but also plenty of other seating around. There’s often someone playing music which elevates the vibe too. Highly recommend anytime of day! The best panoramic view of Lisbon for me.

A wonderful viewpoint in Lisbon! It’s definitely a climb up winding streets and many stairs, so go prepared with a bottle of water but once at the top you won’t regret it! If you can avoid the main street I would recommend it, we took some side streets and walked up a beautiful staircase with art work on the way to the top.

I walked up via the road which is very steep and walked down via the steps. There is also a funicular that connect to the bottom. Views are incredible. The church was open and it's free to enter. There is a bar with seating for drink and think they also serve snacks. I definitely recommend the visit.

Nice point to have a look at the city landscape. You should take the route of stairs, there are incredible graffiti attacks. After a moderate amount of steps, you can replenish with a cold drink in the quaint place just next to the scenery 🫡

Best spot in Lisbon to watch the sunset. Easy to reach by foot, tram or cable car and the views are exceptional.

Miradouro da Graça offers one of Lisbon's most stunning panoramic views, best experienced during the golden hour. The nearby café is excellent for refreshments, and paid toilets and benches are available on site. Access can be challenging; the tram from Martim Moniz is perpetually crowded during peak season. Alternatives include ride-sharing, expensive tuk-tuks, or a 30-minute walk utilizing the scenic shortcuts. Plan your transportation accordingly.

Great views from the high point, lots of stalls but none open when we were there at about 10AM. We took the Elevador da Gloria tram up, it costs something like €4 but worth it for the touristic experience. The trams have a bit of a queue and they get fully loaded when it’s busy, wait for the next one if you want a seat.
