Where to Stay in Budapest (Updated 2025)

"Although the rooms may feel a bit dated, Mirage Medic Hotel is clean and spacious with comfortable beds, a desk, electric kettle, good shower pressure, and a simple free breakfast; its main draw is how close it is to Széchenyi, the city’s most popular thermal spa." - Matthew Kepnes

The 6 Best Hotels in Budapest in 2025

"Located in District VI on the Pest side of town, this four-star hotel is housed in a massive 19th-century mansion; the rooms may feel a bit dated but are clean, spacious, and the beds are comfortable. Rooms include a desk, flatscreen TV, and electric kettle, and the showers have good water pressure. There’s a simple free breakfast of bread, coffee, and cereals each morning, and the hotel offers holistic healing programs like herbal remedies and acupuncture. The main draw for me is how close it is to Széchenyi thermal spa—just a short 7-minute walk—making it a practical, no-frills option." - Matthew Kepnes

Located not too far from metro, bus stop and the park. To get to the city or park and art museum was very convenient. Decent size room in an existing building. Comfortable stay. Though, our visit was during the heat wave and their old AC cannot cope. The receptionist was eager to explain the city and places to visit. Breakfast was plentiful both choice and amount. Overall it was a good place to stay

Very good hotel. David and Zsusi were excellent. It was our first time in Budapest and they made our stay so pleasant. The hotel is conveniently located opposite Hero’s Park, 2mins from the metro, 2mins from the Hop on Hop off stop. Thank you from South Africa (Nathisha Maharaj)

This was our first time visiting Budapest. |An amazing city with lots to do. We stayed at the mirage medic. We cannot reccomend this hotel highly enough. The staff are amazing and go out of there way to cater for there customers. Every member of staff we encountered were lovely. The hotel was clean well presented. The rooms were clean and the beds were really comfortable. The hotel also offered us an upgrade, another way of showing there customers matter. I will definitely stay here again should we return to Budapest.

So, where to start...this is not a 4 star hotel as advertised, more like a 2 star. The rooms are old, need refurbishment. The kit between the tiles in the bathroom came off, the wallpaper was coming off the wall. The bed and pillow were uncomortable, and for a 4-star hotel to not have slippers, a minibar and to have towels that are worse than the one I wash my car with is unaceptable. The parking is actually a small yard in the back barely capable of fitting two cars. If the car in front doesn't park near the fence, the one at the back has no room to exit...plus they charge 20EUR/day for that. The breakfast is poor, with little to choose from. This review is based on it's advertisement of 4 star hotel. If it was promoted as a 2 star hotel and with the price of a two star hotel, it would have been fine. I will not be coming back here for sure.

First time in Budapest, and my experience at this hotel was fantastic. The room was comfortable and spotless, and the staff was incredibly polite, always ready to assist with anything we needed. The breakfast was generous, and the location is perfect for exploring the city – right next to the metro and the largest park in town. Highly recommended!

Well, where do I start? It's a perfect example how to turn initially beautiful experience at the 4!!!!! Star hotel to the absolute negative "hostel" kind of experience with a really bad management We stayed at the beautiful room, and the guys at the reception was really really nice, specially Alina, she was an absolute gem, she gave us so many ideas to where to go and what to see in the Budapest and she was extremely welcome and professional and extremely sweet, thanks to her we had an absolutely amazing and wonderful vacation, she booked things for us , she managed everything that we asked, she was really absolutely amazing! But it all when down when we met an aggressive, rude, angry manager who treated us like we were in a cheap hostel or something. She raised her voice on us, she was being absolutely rude, disgusting behaviour that U really can't expect at a 4 star hotel. We were told after that she was following us, checking our room personally, in order to find smth that we didn't do. That was our first trip together as a married couple and only thanks to Alina our stay was absolutely pleasant. But when we met that absolutely angry, rude, disgusting lady as a manager we decided we will never go back at this hotel. I can't start to describe how rude she was, how her behaviour was absolutely disgusting and rude. She was rude and disgusting to her employees Infront of the guests of the hotel with no shame at all, she was rude just not to us but to other customers, who dared to complain about something, we talked to another guests of the hotel at the breakfast and they were also absolutely shocked of that "manager" behaviour, they were like us absolutely disgusted by it. They said they have never seen any hotel manager behaviour like this, screaming at customers, making them feel like at the cheapest hostel ever. It's a shame that such a beautiful hotel has someone AS A MANAGER like this. Ruined all the experience for lots of people. Very angry, rude, disgusting manager. My husband is a manager too and he told me that he would quit out of guilt if he ever acted like this to his customers. Absolutely disgusting. Shame on you for having such a mentally disturbed manager. Really beautiful hotel, beautiful spacious rooms, beautiful Ppl on reception and than that angry disturbed manager who clearly hates it's customers and don't care about the hotel image at all. What is wrong with U by having THAT kind of management??????

After a week staying in other places, we found this at the last minute for our final night in town, and what a joy it was. An unexpected highlight of our trip. Greg, the front desk staff, was a breath of fresh air. Making us feel welcome from the moment we stepped inside the lobby and addressing every question with kindness and positivity. He nearly single-handedly turned our vacation from ok to awesome. Even helped make our visit to the baths much better than it would have been when we realized we weren't adequately prepared. Definitely earned our repeat business.

Absolutely fantastic boutique hotel right near the park. Front desk was great, room was better than expected. Breakfast was solid. Definitely recommend
