Not worth a visit at all unless you are with Japanese friends who can get you into these places.
Most of the restaurants in the area are really small, and will get packed out immediately with regular customers who the owners all give priority to. Most of them allow smoking as well, which if you're a non-smoker is very unpleasant.
The three or four places that clearly had seats available all rejected us, saying that they were already reserved. I'm pretty sure you can't make reservations at these locations, so I doubt this was the case. I think they just weren't interested in serving foreigners at all, and this was the easiest way to reject us without saying so.
The area is kind of sold as a fun bar-hopping spot, but in reality you'll be lucky to get into any single place if you're a foreigner. Don't bother.
