Miroku Yokocho

Looked nice but most stalls had not yet opened in the early afternoon. It was far away from the express train station and 10 minutes walk from the nearest train station. Needed to spend a night nearby to enjoy the atmosphere if by public transports.

Not worth a visit at all unless you are with Japanese friends who can get you into these places. Most of the restaurants in the area are really small, and will get packed out immediately with regular customers who the owners all give priority to. Most of them allow smoking as well, which if you're a non-smoker is very unpleasant. The three or four places that clearly had seats available all rejected us, saying that they were already reserved. I'm pretty sure you can't make reservations at these locations, so I doubt this was the case. I think they just weren't interested in serving foreigners at all, and this was the easiest way to reject us without saying so. The area is kind of sold as a fun bar-hopping spot, but in reality you'll be lucky to get into any single place if you're a foreigner. Don't bother.

I had a great time here jumping around from one restaurant / bar to the next! Everyone was so welcoming and kind. I hope to go back and spend more time there one day!

みろく横丁は、八戸の魅力がぎゅっと詰まった屋台村で、地元の味を気軽に楽しめるスポットです。屋台ごとに個性があり、新鮮な魚介を使った郷土料理から創作メニューまで、食べ歩き感覚で楽しめます。地元の人との会話も自然と弾み、観光客にとっても温かく迎えてくれる雰囲気が魅力的。店主のこだわりや地酒の種類も豊富で、ちょっと一杯のつもりがつい長居してしまう居心地の良さがあります。価格も良心的で、何度も通いたくなる場所です。特に、地元食材を使った料理や旬のメニューは訪れるたびに新しい発見があります。八戸に来たら一度は立ち寄りたい、そんな心あたたまる場所です。
