Having been to Chengdu twice, I was missing the flavours and wonderful 麻辣 flavour profile of Sichuan province. This is easily the best I’ve had in NZ. Would highly recommend. Only downside was that it they were quite busy so took a moment to get our order in, but the food all arrived very quickly afterwards.

Great unique flavours. Loved the biang biang noodles. Want to come back and try more. Lots of dietary options clearly marked on menu.

First time dining on Sunday night, been meaning to go for a long time as heard great things. Was not disappointed! Food was full of flavour and portion sizes very reasonable. You can tell everything is handmade with care. Service friendly and warm. Atmosphere excellent with great lighting and for a small space not cramped with tables, just the right amount. A gem of a spot, will come again! Thank you

It was very busy the night we walked in but the staff were professional and turned tables over to accommodate. The food was Sichuan and authentic......maybe a little more seasoning in some dishes. Overall good and we'll be back.

M5,the Sizzling Prawn on an iron plate were truly disappointing. It felt like they were just boiled and placed on the iron plate, which served only as decoration. The prawns were frozen shrimp, completely different from the advertised picture. The chef’s skills clearly need improvement.

Great meal. Spicy as expected for Sichuan food, but the heat was well tempered by complementary flavours. Don't go if you don't like chilli and Sichuan peppers. We had the spicy fried rice flour noodles with prawns. The prawns were small, like all imported prawns in NZ , but were not shrimps as one reviewer suggested. We also had roast duck salad, which due to the sweet and tart dressing, was a perfect accompaniment to the hotter dish. Dessert included brownie and ice-cream and an affogato. Waiting time was as expected for a small place with low staff numbers and individually freshly prepared dishes. We loved it and will be back to try other menu specials.

The food was full of flavor! I’d happily return to explore more of the diverse menu. I tried the Signature Fried Noodles, which I’d heard were a popular choice—though personally, it wasn’t my favorite. If you enjoy a pasta-like texture, this dish might be right up your alley. The restaurant can get quite busy, so there were some delays with our orders, but the staff remained friendly and professional throughout.

I've been here a few times and have had a mixed experience. The good: First of all, I would recommend to go at least once to try a Szechuan peppercorn dish - it is a unique flavor and sensation. My top 2 picks from what I've tried so far would be the Dan-Dan Noodles or Home-made Szechuan pickles. both 4-stars! Biang Biang Noodles were quite similar to Dan-Dan, they're much thicker and have a unique texture, but because of this they pick up less sauce and carry less of the Szechuan flavor. I preferred Dan-Dan but Biang Biang were also nice. Most recently, I went for lunch on the weekend with a group of friends. It wasn't too busy, food came promptly, and the service was good. The not-so-good: Earlier this month I had a delicious Pork Belly dish at Shanghai Bistro, so when I saw the Fenzheng Pork Belly, my expectations were high! It was a disappointment when the dish turned out to be a homogeneous blend of gelatinous rice with very little texture or substance! - 2 stars. I'm not someone who minds waiting for food (especially when with good company), but be aware that my first time here was for dinner. They were very busy, and it took around 45 minutes for the food to arrive. I also wasn't a fan of the Tofu. Just quite plain. - 2 stars. The dumplings were OK. But I've had better - 3 stars. Overall, worth a try for the Szechuan peppercorn experience, and I expect I'll be back for another bowl of dan-dan noodles when I am craving that flavor again!
