As Chappell Roan Comes Home, a Weekend With Queer Kansas City | Condé Nast Traveler

"Mentioned as a legendary after-party spot, Missie B’s has been bringing drag shows to Kansas City since the 1990s, and I heard the rumor that Chappell might head there after the concert, underscoring its reputation as an enduring local institution in the city’s drag scene." - Chris Ritter

I LOVE Missie B's! It is the only place I've been able to find easily where I feel entirely comfortable. (I know there are a lot of places in kc for the community, but im not on fet life, so idk where those places are) the only reason I have not like it at any point was that the number posted is invalid and eli cuddell just lip syncing while JUST collecting money. Other performers PERFORM while collecting and he DID NOT.

One of the bars a bottle water was $2, another was $1, the other was $3. Consistency would have been nice, especially since I don't drink alcohol. I just wanted a safe fun place to dance. On the dance floor someone had spilled drinks and it didn't get cleaned up because my shoes were sticking and it made it hard to dance in some areas. The DJ never played my song.but the show was fun and all the dancers were amazing!

I used to come here with some regularity, but I'm sad to say I'm not sure I can justify it anymore. I've had a few less than pleasant interactions with one of their doormen, but the experience my friend and I had with the same employee last night was not acceptable. We spent a few hours here after arriving and finding the place quiet enough that they didn't even have anyone watching the doors- neither our IDs nor bags were checked. On our way out, we realized we forgot our umbrellas on the patio, and turned around in the doorway to head back and grab them- the doorman immediately appeared and started yelling at us, demanding our IDs- he refused to say any words to us other than "NO. IDs. NOW." cutting us off as we tried to talk to him, until he spotted a water bottle in my friend's purse as she was looking for her ID, and physically wrenched it out of her hands, yelling about an outside food and drink policy that we didn't know about and wouldn't have expected to apply to a plastic bottle of water. If this had been a matter of him explaining himself, or policy, we would have been happy to work with him, but instead he refused to communicate at all- he came off very much as if he were playing cop- badly. If I wanted to see myself and my friends treated as lesser by an angry man on a power trip, I could easily go to any other bar, but it's a real shame to be treated like that somewhere meant for our community.

Every time we go here, it’s an amazing experience! The staff are always extremely supportive in fostering a safe environment in which people from many backgrounds can be themselves and enjoy the night. Tony (security/staff) and David (bartender) always make us feel like family, and the drag queens as well!

We arrived on a Sunday evening to be very pleasantly surprised by one of the best drag shows I’ve had the privilege of seeing. Which really, was the cherry on top of a wonderful experience. Being from Omaha, this place put me in mind of a harmonious combination of the best parts of The Max & Flixx. It’s a gorgeous space, with the perfect balance of approachable dive and class. The gentleman working behind the bar was extremely efficient, mindful and polite. They also have a slushy machine, which was a delightful, life ruining surprise. It helped to ease the pain of completely bombing the song I selected for bonus karaoke, which began at 12:30. Tony, the security detail, was among the best I’ve seen during the many years I’ve worked hospitality. He was extraordinarily aware, personable, and capable. I have no doubts whatsoever that Tony has a sixth sense and can smell trouble before it even materializes. Every bar needs a Tony. Missie B’s was a perfect way to end a quick weekend getaway of debauchery. If you’re in the area, get yourself a slushy. Make some new friends. You’ll have an absolute blast!

Google
Been several times and its always a good time. Lana Luxx's Sunday night (10 pm) show is THE BEST! The bartenders can tend to pour a little heavy, but the shows are the reason to go, especially Lana's.

Google
I had been meaning to come here earlier but made my first visit after the pandemic for my mother's birthday. There's a 10 dollar cover charge and IDs are checked at the door- cool cool no underage kiddos here. Everyone who works there is super nice and friendly, bartenders, bouncer, you name it. The drag show was right on time and super fun! The drag queens and kings have great shows and song choices too, they're definitely fun and full of energy! The drinks were good but definitely strong. The bomb pop honest to God tastes exactly like one. Keep in mind it's cash only so be prepared with cash or use the ATM in the building. The place itself is pretty big with multiple levels but if you want to sit close to the stage for any shows get there earlier as it's harder to see at the tables in the far back area closer to the bar.

ALL Queens! The Show Was Amazing, The Host/DJ Was Even Better. Felix Is An ICON. Drinks Were Strong. A TIME Was Had 😩🥰🥳. Just GO!

Yelp
Wow. First time in town from Toledo and was here on a Weds. night for Weird Wednesdays. The cast was top notch. Great group of entertainers and such detailed costumes. Some great dancers also. I loved how the hostess interviewed each performer in between numbers. Very friendly and welcoming bartender. I just love this place! A stop on my next visit!
google avatar

Dale L.

Yelp
Showed up from out of town on a Wednesday and had a great time. Like always, when the drag show says 10pm, they mean more like 10:30-10:45. It was weird Wednesday and they had an excellent show filled with kings and queens. Two drinks were about $12, but there was no cover. Well lit parking all the way around the bar. The interior is nice and they have some awesome lighting for the stage.

Yelp
Came in from out of town looking for a friendly community bar. Missies showed us a great time!

Bren E.

Yelp
The service was friendly fast, and helpful, prices were great, entertainment was fun .

Yelp
I went to Missie b's this past weekend and had the absolute time of my life. I was visiting from out of town and unfortunately, once I got home, I realized I had dropped my wallet and left it at Missie B's. I called and spoke with Jeremy and he confirm they had it. He went out of his way to send it back to me. I can't say enough fabulous things about Missie Bs. You have to visit it.

Noah F.

Yelp
Amazing bar in midtown, near Westport. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good place to have a drink. The staff is amazing and makes me feel safe, super friendly. They always have something going on! Drag shows 6 nights a week, karaoke Sunday-Thursday.

Yelp
This place was a disappointment. I went for a friend's birthday just to end up getting kicked out for no good reason. There were barely any drink options if you wanted something on tap or canned. The cocktails were overpriced to begin with. The bathrooms were really dirty, I held it all night because how dirty they were. The people who worked there were consistently rude to my partner and I. I think it's pretty crazy how this place is supposed to be inclusive but will send workers to come up to you several times in the night and question you. The vibe of the people there were overall creepy. The ones watching the drag show were nice then if you went over to the bar there would be creepy old men staring at you up and down. Not the most inviting place! I'm only giving it two stars because the dance floor upstairs is ok. Nothing special tho.
google avatar

Evelyn K.

Yelp
I went to the Sunday night choices show. There is no cover charge on Sundays. The show was great the hostess engaged with the audience and really hyped up the crowd. Drinks were reasonably priced, they only accept cash payment. I am sure that is due to encouraging tipping for the show. Overall it was a good show and I enjoyed it. I would recommend the Sunday show, you will have a good time.

Yelp
I left KC and came back to visit for the AFC championship game (go Chiefs!). A coworker was in town, we went to Q39 up the street and I was early, so decided to grab a drink. And still... in 2023 and after what must be numerous requests by myself and others, Missie B's is cash only. Just a reminder why I never go here - cash only = sketchy. Inconvenient in a modern world that is 95% cashless payments. Get with it - setup a damn Venmo account for the bar. The ATM can't possibly be bringing in enough revenue for this bar to feel the need to stay cash only. You can allow both cash and cashless payments - cashless doesn't mean you stop taking cash. Again, a sign of new ownership needed. Can someone under the age of 50 manage this place? I decided to give a star back because the drag queens were actually singing when I was there waiting for my table to be ready at Q39. I appreciate real singing vs. just dressing up and lip singing any day. Overall I don't recommend Missie B's though. It's a bar I can't drink at since I highly prefer cashless options.

Yelp
Was visiting from Texas and thought we would catch up h a Drag show while in KC. Door man was rude. Waited 20 mins for one of the two bar tenders to ask us what we wanted and he was very rude when he did. There were maybe 15 people in the bar so they were not busy at all. Do not waste your time. Ohhh and it's cash only.

Yelp
My coworkers and I were in town on business and someone so happened to be celebrating her 50th birthday! We went out on a Thursday night to celebrate and it was Amateurs Night. There was no cover when we arrived around 10 pm. We got our drinks right away. I had a Boulevard Wheat and was happy that they used a lemon wedge in it (vs nothing). We grabbed our seats and were ready to have a good time. And we did! I actually thought it was cool to attend on this night because the performers were being critiqued and that was interesting to hear. There's not a whole lot of room for the kings and queens to walk around, but they have TVs to show their performance when they walk around. I didn't know very many songs they were performing to but as long as they know how to rock it, it's still a lot of fun. Remember to bring your dollars for tipping the kings and queens!
google avatar

Brittany F.

Yelp
The firsts: Bring cash. This is a cash only establishment. There was a $10 cover, $2 coat check. Bar is cash only. My group had such a fun time here! Bartenders were quick and insanely nice, even with a fairly busy place I never had to wait and lean on the bar for attention. We got a spot outside the main stage area. People can crowd up in front of these seats and even block the Queens, but it was SO great they have a TV screen so you never miss a moment. After the show, we went upstairs where there is a bar and a large dance floor. The only issue is this dance floor was just techno music? I don't know, not my vibe. We went downstairs where they turn the area into a dance floor. They play the songs you want to sing to, throwbacks, some new music mixed in. However it gets... raunchy out there. Disclaimer. I really can't say more than that but you'll see maybe more than you wanted to.

Yelp
I love this place. I had so much fun at the Daya Betty liquid lunch event. As you walk in you are greeted with smiling faces. Amazing drinks! This location is great, it's right by the bars on 39th and the ones by Westport Road. I like the smoking section, you can hear everything that's going on inside.
google avatar

Abby P.

Yelp
Best place to go out in KC I don't care what anybody says. The music is the best to dance to of anywhere i've been other than FunkyTown and the drinks are a fair price. The cover is a bit too hefty in my opinion, but it always ends up being worth it. It would also be nice to be able to pay with a card, but again, it's worth it to me. Take the cash out in advance! The people there are very friendly and it's a very free and open environment. What's not the love?
google avatar

Lisiane M.

Yelp
The bathrooms are nasty. The place is nice to have fun in Kansas City. Need cash, easy parking.

Mateo R.

Yelp
Cash only, door fee, bartenders are rude and overall the ambiance is not great. They are living in the wrong generation.

Yelp
While they advertise themselves as a gay bar/club and while this is true, their crowd of people is well mixed from all walk of life due to their friendly environment, which is great because when I told one of my friends where I was going for the first time, they tried to tell me that I would messed with for having long hair by the gray crowd for not being gay with long hair. Turns out that person ls wrong. I've been going for years and have and ever felt uncomfortable I generally don't like bars as a rule, but I'll frequent this bar, mainly for their drag show which is hilarious! The lower level, they have two bars, a pool table, darts, and a stage with seating. Their upper level has two mini bars, a huge led dance floor, and a tiny toy/link shop in the back right corner. At night, Dirty Dorothy host a commical drag show with song and dance numbers, sometimes it is a hit or miss, however last time I was here the was shot on. Dorothy is also the only real woman on stage. Wait, I take that back, for years this was true, the sax player is a real woman, and she is beyond awesome. The quality of their queen's range from so so to excellent, but they are all professionals and are quite entertaining. They have a sign language interpreter and some of my favorite bits are when they mess with him and say very raunchy sentences for him to sign! The second to last time I was here, Mrs. Vondoo (sorry if I misspelled her name) Ran the show, and she was a riot! My favorite thing about her was her big black fan that had DADDY written on it with big capital letters with which she used to interact with the crowd. I understand there is an art to lipsinking, but I prefer when the singing is real. I was there the saturday after Whitney Houston passed, one of their queens who had the night off could sing "in the key of Whitney" as they called it, was brought in to play tribute. She wasn't dressed up, but you could tell that was real voice, and it does something delightfully disturbing to watch a man, sing and sound like Whitney. I was in the crowd and she paused right next to me, so I can confirm the singing was real. So yeah, love this place and I drag my friends here with me sometimes!

Yelp
This is now my favorite homo hangout! I added the extra star after visiting the upstairs dance floor. I have a lot of fun at this place. The bartenders are fast, drinks are cheap, and it's always interesting! The drag shows are great here. Whether you come here to dance or to see a show, you'll manage to have fun. It's guaranteed!

Corey G.

Yelp
Cash only! Not sure why they claim to accept "All Credit Cards", but the bar is cash only with a cover. Cash only!!!
google avatar

Marissa M.

Yelp
Drinks were good, this was my first time at a club I had so much fun on the dance floor I was sweating and working it too I kept getting other people to dance and let loose, can't wait to go again it was epic

Ashley M.

Yelp
Great drag show!! The performers walk around in the crowd. Not sure if at some point the night turns into dancing or not as we left before that. $10 cover and the bar is cash only.

Yelp
We went last friday night to Missie B's for KC Strips stage show. It was the AIDS walk fundraiser. It was a very diverse crowd and everyone was laughing and having a good time. We had so much fun. The theater is quite small but there isnt a bad seat in the house. The show was a hoot and everybody was having a blast. All of the actors did a great job. Upstairs has a nice size dance space with a lit up floor which was very nice for KC. I surprised how big the upstairs was. Most places have small dance floor or not at all. The drinks were reasonable and strong. Everyone was quite friendly and it was just an overall good time. We recommend Missie B's for a fun night in town. I dont think you could be disappointed in one of their shows.

Yelp
I've been going here since I could legally drink and always have a great time! I love walking in and recognizing the amazing bar staff (I don't know if they recognize me cause I'm not hella regular, but they always make me feel like family). The shows are always hype and I have so many favorite performers, with the roster always growing. The vibe is always on point! I will say the weekends get a little crowded for me, and I really have to plan to make a weekend trip if I want to go, but they still have great, hype shows during the week (go to a Viktor Shawn show if/when you can). When I was in my 20's, I loved the weekend, but in my 30's, I prefer the weekdays. The fact they have a vibe for every age and personality is a definite plus (I feel like you can outgrow places pretty quickly, but not this place). But the most important part of this bar is that it feels safe. Not saying you should ever let your guard down anywhere, but I feel like there's enough community here to keep creeps on the outside. I never feel like I need to stare at my drink here. Maybe it's a false sense of security, but again, been going here for over 10 years and have never had a problem outside of embarrassing myself a few times. That being said: don't come if you ain't got funds--especially on the weekend. Don't think I've ever been here and spent less than $80. It's also a cash bar and the ATM fee is a bit steep, so be prepared to bring your own cash. Bartenders will happily make change for the show.
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
Welp, they charged my partner and I $10 at the door when we showed them our TX ID and didn't charge anyone before or after us. I suppose I'll act like a pretentious tourist since I was treated as such!

Ava K.

Yelp
The black door guy was very rude to my friend and I. He took both of our ids and said they were fake, then when i asked how they were fake he would not give us an answer only stated that if we wanted our ids back we would have to call the police and wait for them to get there and go through all of the paper work. then when asking to wait for the police inside we were told that we were trespassing and not allowed to stand by the door even when it was 30 degrees outside. He was being highly disrespectful when we were trying to communicate. i do not recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
I came out in KC in 1991. We hadThe Edge Nightclub. But mainly wehad The Cabaret. So many wonderful memories there and great friends. Missie B's had just opened up when I went away. I do hear good things though. Is Flo still performing? That bitch took a pair of my undies.
google avatar

Kendra L.

Yelp
Good time! We all felt very comfortable and drinks weren't really too expensive but watch out for those shots! Yikes. We watched a comedy show and then karaoke. There were problems with those things, but I dont think that has anything to do with the actual business. I wouldn't say no to going back!

Jason E.

Yelp
Great Gay Entertainment Venue and Bar. This bars supports the LGBT+ community and offers great drinks and fun. Bar has great safety and various different atmospheres in same bar. Upstairs has disco style lighted dance floor.

Kevin S.

Yelp
Their reputation precedes itself. Definitely more of a mixed crowd for the shows, but transitions to become THE gay scene. Talented performers, friendly staff, plenty of parking & cheap drinks. However, weak mixed drinks, insufficient working toilets & a cash only policy can be both inconvenient & frustrating. With a 3AM closing, there's plenty of time to enjoy diversity.
google avatar

Richard L.

Yelp
Okay, so I've lived in Kansas City for about 30 years. I've witnessed the gay bar scene in KC change through the years and Missy Bs is no exception. I like some of the changes made to the main dance floor located upstairs. Having said that, I think it's time for new music and/or a new DJ. I'm sure the current dj is a lovely human as he's been there FOREVER. But if I'm going to spend $10.00 at the door I'd like to hear current House, Drum & Bass, Down Tempo, Electro House, Etc. ya know, no more "Whitney Houston Mash UPs" . Ugh... There's a lot of great dance music out there. The (ginger) go go boy is BEAUTIFUL:) He's a keeper:) Rule # 1: Never play music that cute little girls from Johnson County Know ALL the words. (Not that there's anything wrong with JoCo)
google avatar

Hunter B.

Yelp
I consider this bar a Kansas City icon. Where else could the queer of KC go to hang out almost 45 years ago?? It was here, this is pretty much where the scene began in this town. It can be kind of overwhelming to a person who has never been, and normally a lot of people choose Missie's as their 'first time to a gay bar/drag show' bar. It's spacious and welcoming during the week, but the weekend is normally young, loud, and ravenous. The bar hosts several shows that have become a staple, particularly Dirty Dorothy and more recently Purple Reign: Party Like Its 1499, but there are lots of different scenes for hangout. It's large enough to accommodate to almost anyone in the queer community. That being said, it's not your modern club. People nowadays expect a lot when going out, but with a cash only bar, $1 coat check, and a very loyal staff, Missie's leans towards the old-fashioned way of doing things.
google avatar

Kristy T.

Yelp
I was born and raised in Kansas City but I've only been to this establishment a couple times tonight I experienced a wonderful fundraiser for the AIDS walk. Blows my mind that this business is so huge and so supportive. If you are looking for something fun to do on the weekend or possibly a fundraiser to support this is the place to check out. Everyone was very inviting and I felt like I had been coming here every weekend of my life. Thank you Missie B's for the good time and laughs on a Saturday night I truly appreciated it. And also thank you for supporting organizations like the AIDS Walk.
google avatar

Ken P.

Yelp
What an awesome experience. The host/announcer really put on a show! She really knows how to engage a crowd and make Missie B's her own. The funniest was when she asked two random str8 guys to perform together for $20 a piece. OMG! So hilarious. I would certainly come back when I'm in town.
google avatar

Betty L.

Yelp
Been here a few of times. Cover is $5. I hate covers. Worth it if you're hanging for a while and catching the show. Not too impressed with their drinks. Not much of a fancy cocktail place, but the bartenders are accommodating with my indecision. Drag show is always pretty entertaining. Loved the MC for Halloween this year. The crowd is mixed. Usually I am there earlyish and it isn't very crowded. The atmosphere and people seem nice, safe, welcoming. Enjoy the place to just hang out.
google avatar

Billie H.

Yelp
I think I am past the age for Missie B's to really be enjoyable. It is a bar. If you want to see a good drag show this is the best place in town with a regular show. Sometimes the jokes are really repetitive from week to week so maybe not something you want to do often. They do have limited run or one time shows which are worth checking out. The real star of Missie B's is the happy hour. Some of the cheapest drink specials you will find in town. They have made a lot of changes. There is now a wall that closes of the stage area for ticketed shows and it opens for regular shows. There are dart boards and pool tables along with a dance floor upstairs. The place looks a lot cleaner updated. It does get pretty packed. If you want that bar atmosphere Missie B's has it. If you want a more laid back scene check out some of the other gay friendly establishments in town.
google avatar

Yelp
Are you looking for a bawdy, campy gay old time? Look no further than Missie B's on a Friday night for The Girlie Show from 8-10pm. It's a cabaret show featuring live-singing female impersonators! That's right, drag queens that sing live. It's a great show and a great way to end your week. KC has a lot of drag shows to be found many nights of the week spread throughout town, but this is the only show featuring both female impersonation and live singing. Both done beautifully and with a great sense of humor. These *girls* are truly talented. The show features Daisy Bücket (pronounced bouquet, of course), Christa Collins, Loeretta Martin, and Tajma Stetson. Daisy is a campy delight. She has been involved in the theater and drag community for years. She is one of the four members of The Kinsey Sicks, the Dragapella Beautyshop Quartets based out of San Fran that travels the country! But Daisy is based out of KC and performs whenever she's in town. Christa has a voice that deserves to be on Broadway. Loretta is a former Miss Gay Missouri with a country twang and Tajma has placed in the top five at Miss Gay America and is truly a talented beauty. They often have special guests and are always looking for new talent to grace the stage. With the Heartland Men's Chorus, The Rep and Conservatory of Music in town, hopefully they will never be short on talent....as long as they look good in drag too. They sing solo's, they perform group numbers, sometimes serious but often with much camp. Always fun, beautiful and a damn good time. "Life is a Cabaret old chum, only a Cabaret old chum and I love a Cabaret"! Note: Starting in March 2012, The Girlie Show is changing locations and time of the week. The show will now be at Claiforno's in Westport at 4124 Pennsylvania on Wednesday nights starting at 8pm with a $5 cover.

Yelp
I am not disagreeing with the fact there is a pandemic going on. BUT one the bartenders came up to me while I am standing at a table and rudely asks "what do I have to do to have you keep your mask on?!" When no one at my table nor was anyone around us (Including the bartender in question) was NOT wearing a mask.... he proceeds to kick me out because I asked him why specifically I was the issue when no one around me was wearing a mask. One of my favorite places to visit in KC has become an aggressive and unpleasant place to be.
google avatar

Jacob G.

Yelp
I was asked to leave because the door check dude doesn't know how to check IDs. I'm 24 validated my I'd with questions, and was still asked to leave. Learn how to do your job. Terrible service. Also sweep your damn floor. P.s. I drove 12 hours today from Albuquerque. All I wanted was a drink. A total disaster of a bar.
google avatar

Cierra W.

Yelp
Missie B's is one of the better clubs I've been to. The bouncer was nice to me and my friends. So was the bartender closest to the stage. He was all "How's your evening... And if you need anything let me know." All friendly and stuff! We got drinks and settled in to our front row seats. I was expecting Dirty Dorothy, but Willow von Du didn't disappoint! We had lots of fun and laughs. It was a great experience indeed and I'd like to go back and see their Spice Girls performance in February!

Abby P.

Yelp
I decided to come to missie Bs tonight with my roommate and our 20 person party bus to celebrate our birthdays. The door man was incredibly rude despite the fact that we all were willing to pay $10 EACH for cover. That's $200 in cover alone and we were treated like TRASH. The guy at the door was rude to multiple people in my party despite the fact that we were AT THE DOOR paying for our guests masks to make sure everyone was following the rules. When we asked to speak with a manager he was extremely rude and disrespectful and the door guy even came over and CONTINUED to be rude as we were trying to explain to the manager our situation. The manager promised to come find us upstairs but never did, in fact we saw him standing in the same spot as when we headed upstairs. The door guy continued to harass us about masks even as we left the bar. If we hadn't had to spend 45 minutes at each stop for the party bus, I wouldn't have spent more than 5 minutes here. Expensive low quality drinks and rude staff. Find somewhere better.

Bri B.

Yelp
If you're female, you are not safe at this place. I was asked to dance by a guy who wouldn't take no for an answer and who literally yanked me off my chair and onto the floor while still holding onto my arm. No one tried to help me as I lay there terrified. Now they've made all their restrooms "gender neutral," meaning there are no safe, private spaces for females ANYWHERE in this club. Run away, ladies. Degenerates.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying that the bartenders were awesome. They were friendly and surprisingly very fast even though it was pretty busy. I was very impressed with their positive attitudes and prompt service. However, one of the bouncers was particularly rude to us the entire evening. He gave me a huge smirk once he saw we were leaving so I just flipped him off and walked away. Apparently he had to have the last laugh so as I'm about to walk out the door he puts me in a chokehold and pushes me down the stairs. Luckily I was not injured because if I was I absolutely would have sued for assault and battery. That guy is a liability to this bar if he resorts to excessive force for such a petty gesture. I called management to file a complaint about his behavior and they never returned my call. This place is going to face a lawsuit in the near future if they can't get their employees under control and don't care about the safety of their customers.

Yelp
Wow! I have never been to a friendlier bar than this! Took my friend out for his birthday and made him really happy! First time being in a gay bar we're people respected me and never crossed my personal space. Loved it! Gays aren't as bad as people make them sound! Their just like us and respect anyone regardless who they are. Wouldn't mind going again (;

Yelp
Just paid $10 dollars to get into this bar ?? If there was a live band ok. But to hear electronic music and dance. Cool I don't need to drink. Guess this place is where you come to sober up?

Yelp
I'm pretty gay, but this place... Haha goodness. I can't hate it but I can't love it. Ya feel? Missies, is the place you ask youself -" How trashy do you wanna feel tonight, but still have fun?" lol It's you're typical gay/lesbian/ straight bar. A lot more straight girls then what I'm use to in SoCal or in Charlotte , but of course you'll get your typical "Girls night out". Nonetheless, still fun for that let loose and feel semi accepted club. In that since, Many of the lesbians are very butch, and the gay men are kinda rude. But Missie's is one of the more popular gay bars in KC. Wish kinda makes me sad, which there were more. Still a fun club to dance, and enjoy your night out!

Yelp
Terrible! I bought many drinks and found that the bar tenders were inconsistent. One of the bar tenders said that the prices were not their normal prices because the gay softball World Series was in town!

Yelp
So last night, while entertaining an out of town friend, I ended up at Missy B's. I check in (because checking in on Yelp is awesome and you should do it too!) and somehow I become the Duke of Missy B's. I've been there maybe 3 times in the past two years, so not sure how that happened. ANYHOW, If I'm going to be the Duke, I should probably write a review, correct? Missy B's. Pretty much the only game in town when it comes to gay clubs. I have to give them props for not TOTALLY resting on that (they occasionally remodel and clean the place... occasionally), but as a result it's also a weird gay catch-all that I find odd. It's a strange mix, to have drag queens on the first floor and a leather/fetish shop upstairs. Next to the fetish shop? A dance club. Oh what I would give to live in a town where the gay population was large enough to necessitate different clubs catering to these subcultures. But nope, instead we get the mish-mash that is Missy B's. I have to say that their drag stuff IS quite entertaining. I've always loved the Dirty Dorothy show, and now there's some other completely wacked out Wednesday night show, emceed by twin (i would guess?) 14 year old girls in their basement. Pretty dang funny, and a creative concept. Drinks here are crazy cheap. It's shocking how little money you can spend and get hammered here. Just watch out for beer goggles. Billy might not be as attractive as he seems after 5 $2.50 wells. BTW, it's cash only. Lame. This bar is OK here in Kansas City. It wouldn't pass the test in larger markets, but alas, it's not in a larger market. Gotta make due with what you've got, right?

Yelp
Fun and inclusive bar with a stellar drag show. Cheap drinks and great light up dance floor.
