The food was really good! We were seated immediately on a Friday night, I got the catch of the day and it was delicious! I did leave with an overstuffed feeling- the meals are by no means light and I’m sure cooked in lots of oil/s, but if that’s not something you care about and you are in vacation mode enjoying everything, then this place is a perfect option!

What a laid back relaxing atmosphere with delicious food and drinks. We had Erick, he was one of the best servers we have ever had- attentive and knowledgeable. Outside is beautiful to enjoy the sunset, inside is a piano bar. Keep your eye out for a Clint Eastwood- apparently he comes to the property a lot since he is the owner!

We stayed at Mission Ranch as hotel guests in 2019. It is owned by Clint Eastwood, who was the 30th mayor of Carmel 1986-1988, and still lives in the area. We enjoyed our first visit, and so returned in February 2025. The place is popular so booking is a good idea. We didn’t book, so turned up at 2.45pm for the 3pm “Early Grazing” session. A sternish-looking lady opened the door at precisely 3pm, and asked for “residents first”. We were taken to a lovely table next to a fake-fire. It was warming and looked good. We had drinks and a cheese platter (see my photograph). There’s a real charm to this place, and the Clint connection clinches it for us. I’m sure we’d go again next time we were in the area.

Visited the bar twice. Amazing view. Terrible drinks. Both times. During our last visit I ordered a whiskey sour. It came with a lime wedge. I don't know what they thought they were serving but it wasn't a whiskey sour. Champagne came in a screw top bottle. The prices are reasonable but hard to recommend the place.

Girlfriend and I drove 40 minutes to come check it out. It's a cool atmosphere and restaurant. The service was pretty good but the food was very mediocre. I ended up getting the prime rib with the baked potato and the prime rib was cold as soon as it came out and was extremely tough and didn't taste very seasoned. The baked potato tasted like it had been sitting out most of the day in a warmer. The drinks and garlic bread were good. Not a bad place just was dissapointed for the price

We ate at the restaurant for breakfast and had such a great experience. Eggs were huge and the sausage was hearty and delicious. Loved the home fried potatoes and thick cut bacon as well. Coffee was good and had a cup of cocoa too. Great breakfast!

Nice brunch on a beautiful January morning. The service was good and our waiter was friendly and professional. The beach in the distance and the sheep in the field below added to a nice ambiance.

We followed the flames and stumbled across a wonderful restaurant! Our food and service was great! The patio was super cozy. Next time we will stay on site and enjoy all the amenities.

Yelp
Mission Ranch is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've stepped into a postcard. It has gorgeous views, rustic charm, and a touch of old-school elegance. We arrived right at 5 PM when dinner service starts, and there was already a line forming. They do not take reservations, so plan accordingly. Seating is available inside or on the patio, with heaters outside, but they are not pet-friendly, even on the patio. We opted to sit indoors near the bar, which turned out to be a fantastic choice. The live piano player and open mic created a surprisingly perfect combo that added to the restaurant's unique character. The starter menu was too good to pass up, and we went all in, ordering Oysters on the Half Shell and the Prince Edward Island Mussels with chorizo, leeks, shallots, garlic, and a white wine cream sauce. The mussels were the clear standout of the night. Bold, flavorful, and the kind of dish you keep going back to long after you are full. For my entrée, I had the Roasted Rack of Lamb with a mustard-herb rub, roasted marble potatoes, and sautéed Swiss chard, garnished with whole roasted garlic. It was cooked beautifully with plenty of food, and I had enough leftovers to bring home. Always a win. Of course, dessert was a must. I went for the Bread Pudding with bourbon sauce and whipped cream, paired with an espresso martini because classics are classics for a reason. Mission Ranch is dripping in history and charm. With its incredible setting and solid menu, it should absolutely be on your shortlist when visiting Carmel. Just get there early!

Yelp
Save yourself some time and money and skip the Mission Ranch. The food is barely edible and last time we were there we got sick after we had dinner. We contacted the staff immediately and were told that was just too bad. The hostesses and managers who run this place are rude and ignorant. They treat everyone horrible. People go here because Clint Eastwood owns it. It's a high priced tourist trap with very subpar food. If you like horrible food, horrible service and like to be treated like dirt, then this is the place for you. The only thing it has going for it, is a nice place to sit outside with a beautiful view. Even the best and most expensive rooms need extensive updating, and they smell musty and moldy. I highly recommend you find another place to stay and eat. The fettuccine Alfredo was the equivalent of your grandmother's tuna and noodle casserole. Yuck!

Yelp
Stopped by here for some wine and snacks in the early afternoon before the dinner rush. Such a beautiful location with a lovely view of the sunset and the waterfront, right in front of the pasture where the sheep graze. Very cool that it's owned by Clint Eastwood. Their wine selection is pretty broad and their house selections are OK. The baked potato skins were tasty but nothing unique. The crabcakes are excellent. Prices are very high overall, so just be prepared that you're paying for the view. Parking is plentiful. There's also a hotel adjacent if you're looking for a weekend away. Servers are OK - our immediate server was very friendly and kind, but the hostess and front of house folks were a bit snooty and gave a very pretentious vibe.

Kevin P.

Yelp
You're paying for the experience. We came on a Saturday at 4:30 pm and there was already a line of 18ish peolle ahead of us when it opens at 5pm. Parking is plentiful and it's just a beautiful scenery all around. The resturaunt itself is dated but I think it's meant to feel that way being a barnyard-style. We were seated in the older dining hall in the back (large room) as outdoor seating was going to be 2 hours according to the hostess. Appetizer, I was recommended the artichoke ($14) and it honestly was the most disgusting thing I ever ate. The entire artichoke had like 3 spoon full of goodness and the rest were just leaves. Maybe it's something they feed the sheeps outside. Prime rib: 3/5. The cut is a regular select cut at most, not even close to USDa choice (see photo, no marbelling), closer to being the loin end. It was cooked very nice at medium rare but tasted very low end. The green beans that came with the meal were undercooked and had a rubbery taste to it. Baked potato and wasabi were amazing, easily 5/5 Service was definitely just okay, we had an older lady who spent more time giggling with other guests than refilling everyone else's water. All in all, it's definitely a place to vibe and get a feel for fresh air and just utmost beautiful scenery. Skip the dining experience and go elsewhere.

Lee M.

Yelp
I'm a local and tried their Sunday Brunch for the first time and enjoyed it! I tried a little bit of everything - prime rib, scrambled egg station, salmon, Chinese chix salad, Caesar salad and of course the garlic cheese bread. However disappointed with Chinese chicken salad -no flavor. The garlic cheese bread needed to be warm and toasty-was served cold in a bread basket. Ambiance was wonderful-you can sit outside on the patio or inside-both are great! Server was very efficient and was friendly .

Yelp
We are a group of eight couples who travel together to Carmel annually. Mission Ranch is always our dinner choice the first evening. Several of our group go before 5:00 pm to secure seating since reservations are not taken. We began the evening on the terrace which overlooks a pasture with sheep grazing and further away there are stunning ocean views. Heaters and fireplaces make the outside space comfortable and cozy. We ordered drinks and enjoyed them while waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. Soon, the hostess seated us inside for dinner at two tables of eight. We are familiar with the menu so wine and entree orders were soon placed. Stevie was our server and was delightful and knowledgeable. My husband and I always order the prime rib (see photo) as did several others in our party. One had filet mignon, a few others the prime rib and some chose seafood offerings. The food and service were outstanding, as always. They are also open for breakfast service which we have enjoyed in the past. We shall return!

Nicole Erin B.

Yelp
We weren't guests at the hotel but came for brunch in the morning. The view of the ocean and the grazing sheep are a beautiful sight. That being said the menu has a limited selection and was mediocre with a hefty price tag. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy but it took almost an hour to make 2 omelettes

Yelp
Famously preserved and restored by Clint Eastwood himself, Mission Ranch is a beautiful property that is a must visit in Carmel. The restaurant is old school, an ode to yesteryear if you will. It's like fine dining from thirty years ago, and yet it still delivers a wonderful dining experience. ***They do not take reservations*** Dinner is from 5:00-9:00pm and piano music is played every night. We walked in a little after doors opened and not to our surprise the restaurant was packed. Luckily we were able to get a table upon arrival without waiting. The piano bar was in full swing. It would've been nice to sit on the outdoor patio, but with the breezy weather we were happy to be inside. They do have plenty of heaters just in case. With beautiful views of the meadow and the Pacific Ocean in the distance, on a nice night definitely opt for al fresco! Food wise, the wife and I were both pleased with our choices. Complimentary bread hits the table fairly quickly. The Crab Cake appetizer was delicious, I just wish there was more of it! We both had one each, and for $21 I would've loved to see a third one added to the plate. The Stuffed Berkshire Pork Tenderloin was something I wouldn't normally order, but I was indecisive and trusted the server's recommendation. I'm really glad I ordered it, because it was mighty tasty. It was moist and filled with yummy ingredients. The accompanying greens and potato gratin were enjoyable as well. Dinner at Mission Ranch, as well as touring the property, is on most must-do lists in Carmel. I believe it's totally worth it. Just get there early, so you can snag a table right away. A great meal, indeed!

Yelp
Its Pebble Beach week and I would like to share some places I hit during a recent trip. We stayed at an airbnb in Carmel during a boys golf trip to Pebble Beach. One of my regulars has been coming to Mission Ranch nearby for years, and suggested we try it. The ranch dates back to the 1800's and is currently owned by Clint Eastwood. There is also an inn on the property, tennis & pickleball courts and grazing sheep. We started off w/ oysters and smoked salmon. The oysters were very fresh and sweet. Likewise, the smoked salmon went well w/ the crackers and accoutrements. I had an arugula & burrata salad for my main (I had a heavy late lunch earlier). The burrata was super fresh and paired well w/ the peppery arugula and sweet pear. Regarding the ambiance, its quaint and inviting w/ piano bar and full bar. Our waitress Debbie was super nice and accommodating. I can't wait to return to MR the next time I am in the area. I'd also like to stay on the property in the old school cottages.

Toni R.

Yelp
If I could give this place 0 stars I would.. My partner and I came here for dinner 530pm on a weekday because we wanted to have our dinner while watching the sunset. The host told us it was going to be 45 min-1hr wait, and we waited over the estimated time. Once we didn't want to wait no longer, we called them to see the status of our table, and somehow it was magically available. Once we were seated we were in between two groups of people who were celebrating their dinner together, and would constantly walk back and forth to each table. As we're eating our food we are surrounded by these group of people walking and LITERALLY standing next to our table and food talking to one another. Our waiter did not even check on us to see how we were doing. The food is mediocre. Do not come here, they don't care about customers happiness and their food is not worth the price or the long wait.

Zack R.

Yelp
Love this place and love the food but for the love of god can we please get reservations setup for brunch? Standing in line for 30-45 minutes is a waste of everyone's time and usually the main deciding factor on whether I want to go there.

Alejandra D.

Yelp
BLUF: Good food, great views, ok service, but sloppily done old fashioned. It was nice to return in 2024 and feel comfortable to dine-in. Hubby and I 1st came in Nov 2020. We didn't feel comfy dining in at that time so we ordered our food to-go. I recall there was a massive long line out the door here when we came to pick-up. They have "grazing" time from 3p-5p, just apps and small plates, drinks, so you cannot order entrees until dinner service begins at 5pm. no reservations, first come first served. We showed up Friday 5PM for 4 adults, indoor seating and we were seated right away next to the window. The hostess is the face of the restaurant because they're the first person you see. Being a high end restaurant, I hold them to a higher standard in customer service and that they'd put someone up front who is personable, friendly, and welcoming. Unfortunately she was none of those things and just the complete opposite. We all noticed it w/o mentioning it to one another, so that says a lot. Later when we spoke with the manager about it, we came to find out the hostess had put in her notice and would only be working there a couple more days (Sat & Sun). Still, we suggested she not be there b/c I imagine Sat & Sun are their busiest days. There was another lady up front, she was SO friendly and welcoming though. We all noticed her and even complimented her. I guess it was just our bad luck that we approached when the other girl was there. Outdoor seating was a 1.5 hr wait, and it was quite hot this day and still at that time sun was shining strong outdoors, no umbrellas on the tables outside, so we chose to do indoors. It was really warm inside too. I don't know if they could've done something about the temperature but it was hot, I was sweating, and then the see-through blind on the window didn't help too much. I asked the waiter if he could do something, and unfortunately couldn't do anything. Our sangrias were tasty and refreshing. We all enjoyed our dishes. Hubby's steak was much better this time and actually seasoned properly (I tasted it). Our first visit was awful and got our steaks to-go, and were so bland tasting, I swear someone forgot to season it. We had to ask our hotel if they could send us some salt & pepper. Same w/the double-baked potato. Last time, the filling was bland, and the skin was so tough it was inedible. This time, it had flavor and tasted cheesy, and you could actually eat the potato skin this time. Hubby's go-to drink is an old fashioned. You can tell if the restaurant's bar takes pride in their craft by the ice they choose to use. A true old fashioned is served with a single large ice cube or large ice sphere. A big no-no is serving it with a bunch of ice chips you'd use for a water cup. It dilutes the drink. Well, hubby's drink OVERFLOWED with ice chips (SEE PIC) and when we asked our server if they had any large single ice cubes, he said he's aware it's supposed to be made like that and we're not the first people to ask about it, which means others have complained. He said they've asked the bartenders before about it, but they "get upset" with the servers, and said that the bartenders don't want to take the time to make the proper ice for it because they have to get drinks out quick. Yes the bar was packed this night, and while I understand the rush to pump out drinks, the whole reasoning did not make sense. It's not like they're making the ice in the back in real time. All you need are the ice molds!!! make a whole bunch in advance, stick in the freezer, and you're done. And if you want to save some time, pop them out of the molds ahead of time, and stick them in a storage container in the freezer. grab as needed. It's disappointing when folks spend so much time and effort to perfect their craft, and then produce a sloppy drink. I hope they can incorporate this feedback. I expected much better from a restaurant like this. Our server was good, but perhaps a bit pushy and rushy at times with his tone. We even heard another customer at the table next to us call him out on it and said to him "DON'T RUSH ME...OK????", with his hand out like saying stop. We mentioned this rush-ness we felt to our server after the dinner, but he was not receptive to the feedback and got a bit defensive. DESSERT: We had a question about one of the desserts and asked one of the workers who was nearby but he said in a rude tone "I DON'T KNOW, I'm new". We were like, uh ok, and he left. I think a better response would've been, "I don't know, I'm new, but let me go ask and find out". We're all new and start somewhere. My apple galette was tasty. I think it could've been warmer in temperature, not sure if that's on purpose so the ice cream holds better. Finally the sun went down and we were able to roll up the blind and see the view of the meadow. After dinner we walked outside to get a closer look. the outdoor seating looked nicer, and romantic w/the all the lights.

Sheree S.

Yelp
Yummy dinner with the family celebrating my sister-in-laws birthday. They put up a cute sign on the table saying "Happy Birthday to Ewe". Dinner was delicious, festive atmosphere and cheerful wait staff. If you have a chance try the warm pecan pie topped with ice cream!

Farah D.

Yelp
The views? Impeccable. The food? Meh. The appetizers were good but the rest of our entrees were nothing special. My friend got the halibut (catch of the day) which was average at best. The shrimp pasta was not very good to be honest. My husband got the chicken Alfredo pasta which he said was average. I'm glad we got a bunch of appetizers and wish that was all we ate. But a nice birthday dinner overall.

Rich H.

Yelp
Hidden gem of Carmel. Food is fabulous and service is very good. The long wait can be a challenge because of no reservations but worth the rate at the end. Be ready for tight quarters inside the dining room but that's the appeal for many locals.

Irina R.

Yelp
So glad we decided to check out Mission Ranch! Seems like such a pleasant place to dine, even when it's dark outside and you can't enjoy its beautiful views. The staff was very nice and helpful, and the menu had something for everyone. The prices are very reasonable, considering the location and history of the place. Plenty of seats inside and outside with partial and full menus options. Piano bar was such a nice touch. Overall, I definitely recommend checking it out if you are in the area!

Roxana C.

Yelp
Amazing views and a great place to watch the sunset! A must visit if you are going to Carmel

Rob P.

Yelp
Absolutely superb dining at the former US Navy officers club, now owned by Clint Eastwood. Mission Ranch has a truly beautiful setting, excellent service, amazing food, and a live piano bar experience. Incredible!

Samantha G.

Yelp
Wow this place gets packed!! They don't do reservations, first come first serve. There was a wedding going on and turned out they were staying at the inn nearby, so parking was a little difficult. It's very beautiful though. I wish we could've sat outside because the view of the ranch was nice, and you could see the sheep! The food was really good! We all loved the gratin, so delicious. The stuffed Berkshire pork tenderloin was very unique and flavorful. Unexpectedly spicy. My filet mignon was cooked to perfection as well, medium rare. It could have had just a tad more sauce, but it was still delicious. Service: the waitress was very lovely and patient. However it was so busy that it was kinda hard to flag someone down to get water refills. I was so thirsty!

G. R.

Yelp
Amazing ambience, food and service. Everything goes beautifully when you have dinner here. The staff is wonderful, attentive, kind and talented at making everything go perfectly.

Youssef A.

Yelp
Sunday brunch excellent if you like prime rib. I had three. I didn't care much about the prime rib Molly because it didn't have it did not have any special flavors. Service was excellent and they kept coming back for coffee which is extra but it was good coffee good quality with the creamer on the side. Fresh creamer. Parking may be challenging, but there is a school outside and you can park in front of it. They played piano at the entrance, or you can sit outside or you can sit on the other side of the restaurant if you want to avoid the music and the sun. I will definitely come back for the prime rib and I don't care about the other stuff even though the salad was also good, and the sweets were decent flavor wise. Fruits were fresh also. They have sheep grazing outside and they look very charming.

Annabelle R.

Yelp
The restaurant opens at 5pm for dinner, they don't take reservations, so we showed up at 5:30pm on a Saturday, and the wait for seating (either indoors or outside) was about one and a half hours (possibly 2 hours). Luckily, there's open bar seating, so we found seats at the bar immediately, and didn't have to wait at all... for seating at least. Actual service from the bartender wasn't the fastest but not terrible either, the woman helping us was friendly and seemed to be working hard to give all guests equal attention. The food and drinks we got were fantastic. We got the Roasted Half Jidori Chicken, and  Whiskey Marinated Beef Brochette, and every part of these dishes were amazing. The meats juicy and seasoned well, full of flavor without being too salty. The potatoes with unique recipes and cooked flawlessly with a nice consistency. The veggies on the side tasty as well. We were loving our meals and both cleaned our plates! And still had a couple slices of the light and airy, buttery garlic bread on top of that. For cocktails, the whiskey sour and Whale of a Time were strong and flavorful. I especially loved the Mission White Sangria, which was refreshing and delicious, and just perfect for the setting. Indoors, there's a piano bar with the musician playing a combination of jazz hits and show tunes, a little bit of Billy Joel and Christina Aguilera, and other random pieces as well while we were there. Outside, plenty of sheep grazing in the field, a distance away from the dining patio, but we walked over after dinner for a closer look. There were also a couple of deer in the meadow, a large open space, creating such a unique atmosphere. A nice option for a special occasion, but so much to love about this place even on a regular day :)

Kristen M.

Yelp
Food- While our meal received a moderate rating, it was the awe-inspiring views that truly elevated our dining experience Service- Our waiter was friendly and attentive creating a positive atmosphere of our visit Ambiance- Our outdoor seating views were peaceful, relaxing, serene We came here for lunch after a visit to refuge spa it was the perfect addition to our trip!

Michelle M.

Yelp
We had heard this place was beautiful and drove by to check it out. The grounds and scenery are gorgeous and you can see why this lovely spot has such a reputation. The restaurant was incredibly crowded and we were quoted a two hour wait time. We said we'd wait and after about 15 minutes we approached the host stand to say we'd changed our minds and we're told that we could be seated in 5 because they were able to squeeze us in. A pleasant surprise! It's not very spacious inside but the food, drinks and service were all very nice and we were just thankful to be accommodated. At one point a breeze from the open window we were seated next to knocked over the blinds and my water was spilled over the entire table and our cheese board. The service staff was quick to clean up and replace our damaged items on the table. If you're looking for a unique spot that can't be beat for ambiance, give this place a try. We enjoyed beautiful scenic views and saw a Mama deer and her baby out grazing as well...which made for very sweet dinner entertainment. Oh, also noteworthy that this spot is a family resort/hotel property - so it is kid friendly.

Katelynn R.

Yelp
I sat at the bar to eat and drink. The bar tender was phenomenal and attentive even though it was very busy. I started with a glass of wine and oysters (absolutely delicious and fresh). While enjoying the live piano man I finally decided on the NY steak. Since I'm on vacation I went fully indulgent and got onion rings and potato gratin as my sides. I will be dreaming of those potatoes and steak for a long time. Cooked to perfection. Melts in your mouth. Make a reservation or come early and prepare to wait. This place is well worth the wait and the price. Best meal I've had in a long time.

Ali C.

Yelp
This review is for the piano bar. Too cute and such a throwback. I just got a drink and calamari steak appetizer (it was so yummy). The piano starts at 5:30pm, no reservations. Sit at piano, bar or table - all gave full menu. Many ppl celebrating anniversary as it is cozy and perfect for that. The grounds are beautiful with sheep in the meadow and a distant view of the beach & waves. They have a big outdoor patio too. Worth going if you are in the area!

Jaime R.

Yelp
You pay for the atmosphere, the food was mediocre, I ordered the bolognese, it tasted sour noodles were overcooked and chewy. The clam chowder was really good. My husband enjoyed his short rib meal and the drinks were good. Service was okay, ultimately I'd pay to sit and enjoy the view have a few drinks and maybe get a small bite.

Aaron C.

Yelp
We went here for our honeymoon and the only good thing about the restaurant was the view outside. First time here and we were actually referred by friends. Came on a Monday evening. The risotto was burnt and the meat was cooked incorrectly. Our server spilled the au jus from the prime rib but didn't do anything to fix it. Will not be returning. The positive is that Suzanne was a very nice host, she was fantastic.

Pamela R.

Yelp
An absolute when we're in Carmel. The dinners and breakfasts are of the yummiest. The staff, location and ambiance is lovely

Y C.

Yelp
Always a great time here! The piano man is famous, the singer is amazing. The food is pretty good as well!

Kim R.

Yelp
Just okay. We ordered the rack of lamb which arrived without any seasoning or sauce. Swiss chard and small colored potatoes accompanied but were Dried out ... my husband ordered the fish of the day and sadly just okay. The huge plus is that Carmel Mission Ranch is beautiful! The ambiance and Piano Bar would bring us back But only for drinks.

Joanna B.

Yelp
Food was good. Ambiance was great. Service was excellent....especially Cortni. Really enjoyed the clam chowder, scallops and the espresso martini. Live piano music was lovely.

Matthew J.

Yelp
Wow, is this place crowded!? Yes. And it's situated overlooking a rustic meadow. You're just steps from the ocean. And that's why it's crowded. The food is fine. It's a step above diner food, quite frankly. The drinks are pricey and not great. But, you come for the experience. The service is solid. The ambiance is so-so. I did like the live music... there was a piano player while we were there. I think I will skip it next time, it's not anything I am desiring to do again. But you should try it once.

Pat C.

Yelp
Best restaurant in Silicon Valley! Awesome atmosphere The best in the area I'm coming back soon

Susana C.

Yelp
Amazing views from breakfast. The service was quick and friendly. Food was yummy and reasonably priced! Def recommend if you are coming to Carmel!

Renee A.

Yelp
Mission Ranch is on our list of restaurants we enjoy anytime we are in the Monterey / Carmel area. We attend the annual AT&T Pro Am each year and we come as a group every Saturday following the tournament day. Why - the ambiance, staff, energy and vibe of both locals and visitors that easily blend in together and good food. The GM and staff - Lotte makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in the door with her smile and warmth. The waiters/waitresses and bartenders are attentive. The bar has a vibrant seen often with people seated around the piano player. Everyone is welcome to join in on the singing. The fireplaces are warm, the bar and dining areas are dimly lit and it gives that rustic farm house feel. If you arrive prior to sunset and its warm out I strongly suggest sitting on the patio and overlooking the farmland and animals. It's breathtaking. As a group of ten or so - we are always attended to. After several bottles of wine, appetizers, dinner and finishing with dessert everyone is happy and full. If you are looking for a rustic warm feel, immersion with locals, wanting fun, good service and food this is your place!

Yelp
We were looking for Clint Eastwood's home when we drove into this cute somewhat fairy-tale like community. There's just something enchanting about this location. We were planning on dining here anyway and didn't realize it was Clint Eastwood's property. What a gem! Their farmhouse accommodations are lovely; the sheep pasture and ocean nearby provided a nice view to our outdoor dining experience. There is a cute wooden bridge from the restaurant to the pasture. Lots of heat lamps by the tables too. You have the option to stay indoors but I highly recommend the outdoors. They do not take reservations so first come first serve only. They open at 3pm and dinner is served at 5. We arrived around 4pm to get our names down for a 5pm dinner reservation. We got outdoor seats and just ordered a couple of sodas and their homemade garlic bread. It was served toasty warm and delicious. Ate the whole thing! The dinner menu has a lot to choose from: seafood, prime rib, pasta, filet mignon, vegetarian, etc. We did not order any main courses as we were still full from lunch but the next time we come back, we'll make sure our bellies are hungry. We just had chicken noodle soup, Cesar salad with anchovies and the salmon appetizer. All were great! Parking is a bit of a challenge because there was an event so have patience. It is quite special to be here. I'd even consider staying in one of their farmhouse accommodations next time.

Yelp
My husband and I recently stayed at the wonderful Mission Ranch and had an amazing time! Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful. The accommodations were quaint and comfortable. We enjoyed the bed & breakfast vibe very much. We also dined at the on-site restaurant and had one of the most delicious meals we've ever experienced. The vegetarian options were limited but what they did have was amazing. I ordered the tomato bisque which was perfectly spiced and contained what was obviously very fresh cream. It was literally the best tomato bisque I've had in my life! My husband had the salmon, which loved. For dessert, we had the creme brûlée, which was perfect. The drinks were tasty as well and the service was spectacular. We had an entirely memorable experience and we'll definitely be back! Thanks for the invite, Clint!

Yelp
Another fantastic meal here! We showed up a little early and were able to get patio seating. Started with a nicely made Manhattan. The arugula/beet salad was excellent. My prime rib was perfectly cooked and the horseradish and creamed horseradish sauce were perfect accompaniments. My daughter loved her fettuccine Alfredo and my son scarfed down his cheeseburger. Desserts of strawberry ice cream, root beer float, and bread pudding were all hits. Service was impeccable. So nice to have a great meal in the perfect setting on the patio. Can't wait for our next visit.

Yelp
Desserts were delicious. Apple galette was the best, but crème brûlée and bread pudding a close second.

Yelp
My husband and I got married here on Saturday and it was the absolute best! I have been coming to Mission Ranch for years and love the property and the restaurant and it turned out to be the best place to get married. Rosie and Bailey were great to coordinate with. They always responded to emails very promptly and thoroughly. Rosie was great at the rehearsal and I felt very confident after doing the run through with her. Day of she made me feel like everything was being handled super well and I saw her pop in and out throughout the whole event so I felt taken care of. If you're going to the restaurant for a normal dinner, make sure you go on a night when Al is working. He is the BEST waiter in the world and has been taking care of my family for 10+ years. We took it as a good omen that we saw him right before my mom walked me down the aisle. The hotel is also very fun. The triplex rooms are really special. They make you feel like you're on a rustic ranch, while also feeling very clean and luxurious. The food and drink at our wedding were so good and many of our guests said they'd never had such good wedding food. Just the best wedding - not biased at all haha if you're debating about getting married here, stop debating and book!

Yelp
A very nice place to eat dinner or have brunch at. Service is very good and everyone was very attentive to whatever we needed. We did not have to wait at all for a table, but they do offer indoor or outdoor dining. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area or looking for someplace to go for a special occasion. They also have someone playing piano or singing depending what time you go.

Yelp
Stopped in here after doing the 17 mile scenic drive at pebble beach. This place was fantastic! We got here right when they opened for some light snacks and drinks. They have two separate menus one for dinner and the other for snacks and Hors d'oeuvres. They have an incredible view I highly recommend sitting outside. You get a beautiful view and will get to see the sheep. We got several plates to try we had the fruit and cheese plate, cocktail shrimp, potato skins, and the short ribs. The ribs were by far my favorite and were delicious! They were incredibly tender very delicious bbq sauce and just fell right off the bone. I also really enjoyed the fruit and cheese plate. About four very different cheeses all delicious in their own way. The service was great and they were super accommodating to our large party. I would definitely go back when I'm in the Carmel area again.

Yelp
Everything was excellent. From the start, we had an outstanding hostess who got us a great table along the railing for an unimpeded view of sunset, a great waiter who knew all the right things to recommend, to outstanding food. At the perfect time, staff came around and lit all the heat lamps so we were never cold. We got there at 4:30 and were about 10th in line to be seated. We sat at the bar, and were at our table by 5:15. Highly recommend timing your dinner around sunset. It seemed to go on forever, and the crows in the trees in the meadow flying from tree to tree was entertaining!

Yelp
The best Sunday brunch with Prime rib and omelet...and the majestic view is amazing! It was warm and we don't get warm days like this...thank you for your service.

Yelp
We visited Mission Ranch recently to celebrate my mom's birthday. I was a bit dismayed to find they do not take reservations, but we were going on a Monday and mom likes to eat early. We had no issues getting a lovely table with a view about 5:00 on Monday evening. We were greeted warmly by the host and our server was fantastic. She seemed to be available whenever we needed something, but never hovered at our table. It was about sunset when we drove up to the parking lot so the skies were beautiful and the view was still visible enough to be enjoyed. All the sheep were gathering at the fence. Just a lovely spot! The piano bar (they have live music every evening) is quite small and by the time we left, full as were most of the seats in the restaurant. The outdoor patio is huge and there are plenty of heaters. I would love to enjoy a meal outside during nicer weather. While not huge, the menu had plenty of choices...beef, pork, chicken, seafood, pasta and even a vegetarian plate. We started with the Arugula and Burrata Salad. The salad featured bits of pear, toasted pine nuts, Prosciutto, crostini and topped with a balsamic vinaigrette. Delicious and a wonderful start to our meal. For entrees, my husband selected the New York Strip and asked for the potato gratin in lieu of onion rings or twice baked potato. The New York was cooked a perfect medium rare and the thyme butter on top imparted a lovely flavor. Mom went with the Fettuccine Alfredo topped with grilled chicken. It was a huge portion and quite tasty. I was set to order the Whiskey Marinated Beef Brochette until our server told us about the swordfish special - Grilled swordfish topped with a mushroom tomato cream sauce and served with potato gratin and fresh asparagus. Sold! The swordfish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was so delicious I could have licked my plate. The only complaint - my husband said his steak was not as hot as he would have liked. My mom received a lovely dish of ice cream for dessert to celebrate her birthday while my husband and I both enjoyed an Affogato. Typically I would expect the espresso to be served hot, but it was not. Regardless it was delicious! I would definitely go back to try again. I would love to give the bar menu a try. Plenty of options for smaller bites as well as sandwiches and a burger. I've heard the brunch is quite good as well.

Yelp
Recently completed a stay at the famed Mission Ranch owned business Mr. Clint Eastwood. Eastwood purchased the property in the early 2000s to save the area from development. The grounds are nicely kept and the hotel buildings are spread over several acres. In the middle, there is a large open field where about two dozen sheep live and tend to. That field stretches into the marshland and the beach which lends the property amazing vistas from almost every room and especially from the Mission Ranch's restaurant which has lots of open air dining on its spacious deck. Mission ranch is reasonably priced for the area and Eastwood doesn't raise his prices even during high season and even during Monterey car week there is a lottery to get a room. it's also comfortable but amenities are few. There's no newspaper delivery, pool, or spa. There is an attached tennis club and fitness room. The on-site restaurant serves delicious and reasonably priced fare for breakfast and dinner (lunch and brunch is served during the weekends). We had a couple breakfasts and dinners and were not disappointed. Service was attentive and excellent and hotel guests get priority seating - there are no reservations and the line is crazy. Kids menu could use a revamp - burgers, chicken fingers and fettuccini Alfredo are the offerings. Rooms are rustic with a capital R and could use an update. We stayed in the bunkhouse built originally in 1852 which has two rooms, a living room with pullout and a full bathroom but was on the ragged edge of what one might call shabby chic. Leave the exterior alone and guy the interior - the mission inn would be taken to another level while still preserving what's there. Parking is plentiful and free. Recommended for those wanting a hotel that offers peace and quiet and don't mind a lack of frills.

Yelp
Excellent view! Excellent service! We ordered the Lamb (those it was challenging to eat when the adorable sheep were grazing out in the pasture just beyond our window ) and it was absolutely delicious. What a wonderful experience. Thank you!
