One hundred million years ago the Delta as we know it was the sea. Silt washed down by the Mississippi built this land. Today it’s (almost)solid land. Looking across it from our cruise ship there’s an awful lot of water remaining. Pretty clear why Jean LaFitte and the Pirates found this so inviting. Lot’s of places to hide if a person wants to but also a great alternative living spot for those who appreciate it
