Mistral Cafe: A Mixed Bag in Prague Mistral Cafe offers a decent enough dining experience, but it doesn't quite hit the mark. While the atmosphere is pleasant and the service is friendly, the quality of the food and drinks leaves something to be desired. The American coffee, unfortunately, was a major disappointment. It had a rather unpleasant aftertaste, which detracted from the overall coffee experience. The food, while edible, wasn't particularly memorable. The dishes lacked a certain flair and didn't offer great value for money. While Mistral Cafe may be a convenient option for a quick bite or a casual drink, it's not a place I'd recommend for a truly satisfying culinary experience.

The food and drink was very good. I had a bumpkin spice cafe latte and the flavours were very well balanced. The toast was very good as well. The pancake was nice and the sauce was very good, but the pancake texture needs a bit of improvement in my opinion. Service was nice and they don't insist on the tips like in many other places in Prague. There was just a bit of waiting between the drinks and the food

Google
The espresso tonic was fantastic. The egg’s Benedict was also 10/10. Recommend the yogurt if you are looking for something light. Overall the food was very fresh and high quality. Service was good as well. Best to come before 10 am to beat the crowd.

Turmeric chicken wrap Was a great surprise bursting with flavor’s. I had the fluffiest, three short stack of pancakes, covered in blueberries, with a dollop of what tasted like cream cheese, I know it sounds weird, but it truly gave the pancakes a tangy taste to balance out the sweetness. We were greeted at the door quickly, and sat in the back by all of the beautiful foliage. This was such a great little cozy place to have breakfast after walking to the Charles bridge.

Cute little gem in Prague! Came after visiting Prague Castle and it was a great find - highly recommend their lemonades as its fresh with muddled raspberries in as well - absolutely delicious. Asked to share one of the sourdough dishes and we were pleased to see they halved it for us and served it up separately rather than us having to do it ourselves. A nice cake and sweet treat selection to pick from by the coffee counter, otherwise a good menu for food otherwise. Service was great and they're very relaxed and chill there, by no means try to get you out quickly to cover more tables at any time. Open plan seating too with multiple levels so seats to suit your atmosphere. Overall a great find and glad we visited!

One of the best breakfast I had in town. Egg Benedict was made to perfection and the pancakes were delicious. There are so many plants at the cafe and it gives you a positive vibe :)

Google
I really loved this nice cafe in the city center. The atmosphere is relaxing and chill, we had a lovely table with a garden nearby and could enjoy the view. The interior is simple, green, stylish and spacious. The service is good, the waiter was nice and also brought water for our dog. The food and drinks look and taste sooo good. We all ordered Eggs Benedict and liked it a lot. The prices are little bit higher than average, however the location is great, the quality of food and atmosphere is great, and also we did not need to wait for a free table.

Google
Charming spot with lots of greenery inside. We tried the omelette with Gouda and bacon - the cheese can be a bit stringy, but the bacon was excellent. The open sourdough sandwich, similar to avocado toast, had a perfectly poached egg with a nice kick from the chili flakes. It could use a bit more seasoning, but salt is provided at each table. We would recommend this cute spot.

Yelp
Great place for brunch! We ordered the open-faced chicken sandwich, the ham and cheese sandwich, the blueberry pancakes, and the pumpkin soup. All were delicious!! Service was also great. Make sure to make reservations on the weekends.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick lunch with the friends while touring around the Old town area. Cute hipster cafe with a handful of outside tables, a pretty spacious minimalistic dining room which extends to a lovely smaller foliage-covered room towards the back - this section was a little more intimate. The cafe offers breakfast, and the lunch menu changes daily - a combination of classic Czech and modern European dishes. I ordered a mimosa and risotto - two of my fave foodie things. Alas, I was disappointed with both. Apart from my waitress looking very confused when I ordered it (it's on the menu), the juice in the mimosa had an odd taste and there wasn't enough Prosecco. The risotto didn't look like any risotto I had seen before. It had a dark brown coloring and again the flavors were odd. To note: they have an extensive wine, cocktail, and dessert menu. And also a wide selection of hot beverages. With all the other amazing food choices around, I'd probably skip this one in the future.

Yelp
We were surprised when they asked us if we had a reservation as this seemed like just another small cafe on a city street. They were able to seat us and we're glad they did. The service was good. But the double fried egg with avocado sandwich on a homemade bun was to die for. The coffee and hot chocolate were very good too. Obviously this place is worth making a reservation for!

Yelp
Mistral Cafe is a nice modern eatery in the Jewish Quarter of Prague. It's very close to the synagogues and Old Town Square, which makes it a great option if you're sightseeing. I visited twice in the last month -- for lunch with a party of four and as my final dinner in Prague the night before my roommate and I flew back to the States. [Sniff. Too soon.] My first meal was just okay. I ordered a flat white, sparkling water, a detox smoothie, pumpkin soup, and a caesar salad. My coffee was alright but the detox smoothie stole the show. I'd dare say that smoothie was way better than even the soup! Other friends really love their soup but I found it too thin and heavy on the ginger. The salad dressing was too fishy for me. But! I gave them a second try and am so glad I did. For dinner, I ordered the pasta carbonara. It was so good, I'd have to say it was better than any carbonara I've ever had in Italy! I'd highly recommend it. I also had their mulled cider, which was nice on a cold night after wandering the Christmas markets. Despite some hiccups, I'd have to say I am a fan of Mistral Cafe. It's a quality spot!

Yelp
Stumbled across this spot and so glad we did. They have super refreshing lemonades & beverages along with a wide variety of foods. Everything we had was delish, would highly recommend

Yelp
Exceptional! My girlfriend and I came here 3 times in 3 days. Once for breakfast, once for lunch, and once for dinner. Every time, we were impressed with the quality of food, service, the great prices, and the amazing ambiance. We tried the sviečková, the chicken schnitzel, the chicken burger, the eggplant wrap, the eggs benedict, and the pancakes. All of it was out of this world good! No matter what you choose on the menu, you'll be happy with it. We are so happy we happened upon Mistral, because we hadn't seen it recommended anywhere. You must visit during your visit to Prague!

Yelp
The only reason I can't give this a 5 star review was just because the eggs in the Benedict were cooked hard, and I'm not sure if that's a cultural difference or not. A Benedict usually has a very nice medium egg so that the yolk mingles with the hollandaise sauce. It's a much different experience when the yolk is sold. The house made cream cheese spread with salmon was absolutely incredible. I'd eat everyday if I could. Our server was wonderful. I felt bad because my boyfriend and I hade our luggage with us, but the server gave us a spot by the window that had a perfect nook to set our luggage so we weren't in anyone's way. Also I haven't seen a bad bathroom so far in Europe but this one was by far the cleanest one I've seen

Yelp
This is one of the more expensive cafés in Prague. The interior is beautifully decorated. The ambiance and service were great. Unfortunately the food was lackluster. We got sparkling water, tomato soup, salmon cream cheese toast, and strawberry custard cake. The soup was much too salty, salmon cream cheese toast was fresh but nothing special, the cake's bottom crust was raw.

Yelp
A really classy cafe recommended by a local. Great ambiance and pretty good, inexpensive food. My friend ordered the Tafelspitz, which is slow cooked beef with mashed potatoes. The beef was kind of dry and tough to eat. The mashed potatoes were really creamy and delicious! I ordered the Grilled Salmon with baked potatoes and sautéed spinach. It's simple, but was still really good. The salmon and potatoes were cooked to perfection. The spinach was an addition to the meal and I only got it because they highly recommended it. It was too salty. *It's a non-smoking restaurant! :)

Yelp
My two friends and I had just arrived in Prague when we stumbled across this gem! The second we got inside we automatically loved the vibes. It has an incredible atmosphere. Looking at the menu, we loved the sandwich options and were also quite happy to see a variety of drinks! I ordered the avocado sandwich with a raspberry lemonade, and I thought it was FANTASTIC. I highly recommend the place. The people were nice too! A great breakfast, brunch, or lunch spot!

Yelp
Went here on recommendation of the Vienna Louis Vuitton City Guide around 2PM on a Sunday. 20-minute wait they said but only waited about half that time. Nice, simple looking restaurant. I ordered the duck with the Gnocchi and my friend ordered the Gnocchi dish. Best duck I've ever had, truly. Her gnocchi was amazing, as well. Solid place.

Yelp
Excellent lunch spot. I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and my husband had the fish chips. Both were light and airy and not super greasy. Great portions for the price as well. Loved the decor and bright fresh energy inside. Great spot to stop by to fill your belly before the next adventure. Only caution is that if you sit in a seat by the door, you'll get a breeze which is nice, however prepare yourself to smell the cigarette smoke from people smoking outside.

Yelp
I'm going to make a short and simple review with focusing on the key factors: 1. The interiour design is great and the place is comfortable (it is better in the area at the back than at the front) 2. The food is quality and delicious, and the prices are not cheap but affordable (example, I paid 170 for amazing lasagne, big portion almost for two people) 3. The staff is very polite, constantly asking you whether the meal is ok, whether you would like something else, - but they are not annoying. All in all, a good restaurant.
google avatar

Alexa L.

Yelp
Amazing food at a reasonable price. We ordered pumpkin soup, tofu curry with rice, glass of wine, beer, bread, espresso, and fondant with coconut ice cream all for $30 usd/ 645 kr. Everything was great and the staff was very kind.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Loved it. We came here for a quick lunch and were very impressed. The pumpkin soup was great and a must try. This quaint little cafe is located in Prague's Jewish quarter, just a short walk from the old town square. Very happy we came here.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent vegetarian sandwich options. Lots of items with greens. Very noisy when we visited. Free roaming children.
google avatar

Carlo L.

Yelp
Definitely a place to try, being not too expensive and serving up great tasting dishes (although I was here for brunch and not for breakfast). The ambience is nice and elegant, and a little on the cozy side as well, we got a pumpkin soup, beef tenderloin which was oh so tender, roast chicken which as atop a milky and silky layer of mashed potatoes, and also a carbonara dish which had really nice thick bacon bits unlike the usual which has toasted sometimes burnt bacon. The bacon itself seems to be home made as well and a generous amount of parmesan lined the carbonara. And since it was Easter weekend, I was also given a chocolate egg which made my day all the more better considering I love chocolate.

Yelp
If you find yourself in Old Town and want to avoid the tourist traps, this is the place to go. Peaceful environment, lovely bright and modern decor, and quality food at good prices. I went for lunch on a Friday and had the spinach risotto and a glass of Frankovka.

Valerie S.

Yelp
Very poor service and very rude. My husband was not feeling well, and I ordered a bowl of soup. After 30+ minutes of waiting, several tables being served soups and others entrees, we were told 2 more minutes. After 10 more minutes and no bowl of soup, we finally left the restaurant. Not sure if they were prejudice against my wife being Asian or that we simply wanted a bowl of soup. Being from Hawaii, we are not accustomed to such rude behavior to visitors.

Yelp
Pros: food was good and fresh (omelette and bulgar salad). Vegetarian safe items. English menu. Free wifi. Prices good. Spacious and comfortable seating. Fresh healthy juices. Cons: server was cold and had no interest in clarifying whether a menu item had dairy or not. She simply said "I don't know" and proceeded to let me order another dish that also ended up having a bunch of cheese. (and really I don't believe it was a language barrier issue). Slow service and no quality check.
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
This is located right next to a metro stop near old town that takes you to the airport so we grabbed breakfast here on our way out of town. It is so lovely inside with a lot of plants and flowers everywhere. I got the yogurt bowl with a croissant and cappuccino which was delicious and very filling! My boyfriend got 3 scramble eggs with ham and spinach which had great flavor! The prices were also very reasonable! We chatted with some of the locals who sat by us. Overall a nice local cafe that we enjoyed!

Yelp
We went here for a late (2pm) breakfast. Breakfast was only served until 12pm though. So we got french toast with chicken, egg and bacon. It was delicious. According to the staff everything is prepared freshly. So you have to wait a little longer than you might be used to. But it is absolutely worth it. Prices are ok too.

Yelp

H B.

Yelp
I knew this café from some years ago and was fond of it. Visited it last week and I was very disappointed: my Caesar salad was soaked in a very heavy dressing and the chicken was dry and ..I would call it hard to chew. I am sorry that the quality has changed a lot. It was a place I liked to go. Maybe it was a one-time thing and if this is the case, then please change it to a nicer quality again. Enjoy your day.

Yelp
Mistral Cafe is located in the Jewish Quarter of Prague within a stone's throw from one of the synagogues and had a trendy vibe. We came on a busy Sunday evening, as we didn't have a reservation we opted to sit in the smoking area which was very quiet. I ordered the fish and chips (not really a Czech dish) which was tasty. We also ordered the chocolate cake with raspberries and white chocolate, a little different from what we expected but also worth trying.
google avatar

Giu R.

Yelp
Nothing special. We came as it was recommended by the lonely planet but we weren't impressed...
google avatar

Oles Y.

Yelp
Pleasant ambience in the evening, very nice atmosphere, located in the city centre, rather low prices, good quality and tasty food. What more to want.
google avatar

Felipe V.

Yelp
Service is lacking and slow. Food is nothing special. The decor is contemporary and elegant but has not been design with acoustics in mind, there is awful reverb and echo inside.

Carl S.

Yelp
Outstanding!! Just finished walking tour and guide recommended Mistral because although not strictly a vegetarian restaurant, they had many vegetarian dishes. I had a curried tofu dish that was excellent! Strong curry taste, but not spicy so as to scare diners away. The ginger lemonade is also very good. Service was attentive. Very nice experience.
google avatar

Ryan R.

Yelp
Great for breakfast/brunch. Very friendly and helpful staff. Best cappuccino of my entire trip.
google avatar

Cc R.

Yelp
Had the parmesan mushrooms and the curry tofu and my friend had the gnocchi and a cappuccino. Probably some of the best food I've ever had. The cafe is adorable and artsy and as good as it gets, and very reasonably priced. The service isn't the greatest, but such is to be expected.

Christy K.

Yelp
Terrible RUDE service. Low quality food for unreasonably high prices. I think you'd definitely be able to find a better place than this one in the area if you look. I came to the cafe decently excited because it had so many good reviews, but I left utterly disappointed. The ambiance is definitely nice and welcoming, but I would certainly never come here ever again let alone recommend this place to anhone
google avatar

Yelp
Spinach risotto is perfectly cooked even for a meat over like me. Beetroot salad is a must try, full with natural flavor!!
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
From the tomato soup to the ice cream rolled in pistachios, this was the best meal we had in Prague. We arrived quite late for our reservation and found that they'd held the table for us, and from there the service continued to be excellent. The stuffed chicken breast main and the pork with fried potato dumpling main were also excellent.
google avatar

Art M.

Yelp
We dined in this pleasant restaurant twice during our 5-day visit to Prague. Well-located and at the recommendation of tour guide, we feasted on several local and not-so-local dishes. The pumpkin soup is a "must try".

D. L.

Yelp
Sorry - after reading the reviews, we decided that this would be a good restaurant to try - wrong. Nothing terrible, but not much special either. The highlight of the restaurant was the spotlight on each table. Food was bland and not very filling. Goulash had only a couple of pieces of meat.

Linda S.

Yelp
Quaint, relaxing, superbly fresh and fun. Vegetarian and meat options abound. Best gravy ever on the beef tenderloin!
google avatar

Simon Y.

Yelp
Mistral Café was one of my favorite restaurant while in Prague. The decor is really nice, service is great, and the food is very good and nicely presented. It is more expensive than other places around, but worth it for the quality.
google avatar

Daryl M.

Yelp
I only came for the vanilla ice cream covered in pistachios on a bed of hot melted chocolate. I will one day return to only eat the exact same thing.
google avatar

Baylea S.

Yelp
This cafe was our worst experience in Prague (and probably in all of Europe). The food was good, but my husband and I were appalled at the service we received. There was a 10-minute wait when we arrived, so we waited patiently (no line). Another group arrived, and the woman tried to seat them first. The group politely declined and said, "They were here first." But she kept trying to insist they sit before us. Once we finally took that table, they were extremely unkind. We waited a long time to place our order. I ordered the chicken gnocchi, but they brought out some dark meat dish. When I brought to their attention that this was not the chicken gnocchi, I had to wait another 20-30 minutes for my food. It ended up being good gnocchi. Despite all this nonsense, we continue to stay and order dessert. I ordered a cake and coffee. They brought the coffee out after a while, but after another 20-30 minutes, they never brought my cake. So yet again, I had to complain about the situation. What do you know? They brought out the wrong cake. I eventually got my cake I wanted, but we spent nearly 2 hours there. The staff was extremely rude and completely unapologetic for all their mistakes. It was terrible. But the here's the icing on the metaphorical cake... When the check came out, she tried to charge us for the first dish they brought me that I DIDN'T order. They were so pissed that we read the check so carefully and refused to pay for that extra dish. Needless to say, they got zero tip from us. Don't go here.

Yelp
Wonderful food. The roasted vegetables had the perfect charred taste with garlic and beautiful looking. The salmon tartare was excellent and my beet salad as well. The duck aperitif was the best I've had yet. The proportions were perfect and the chef specializes in Indian food and has an Indian suggestions for all plates added to the menu. I recommend this place.
google avatar

Janice W.

Yelp
Not all waiters were that friendly, but the food was good. We had the aglio olio pasta which arrived very very fast and was simple but tasty
google avatar

Erik L.

Yelp
DId a birthday dinner her a few weeks ago. Very good food, I would describe it as updated Czech classics. Very english friendly right down the street from the metro. Keep your eyes peeled it is kinda nondescript. Price was right we has a bottle of Czech champagne, 2 glasses of wine, 2 apps, 2 entres, 2 desserts, and boozy coffee drinks for under 1400CZK and I believe we had the most expensive things on the menu. I did notice they had some vegetarian options.
google avatar

Lou A.

Yelp
I came here for the first time on a Tuesday night for dinner on November 11. Very nice upscale café with plenty of daily items in addition to the regular menu. I observed three servers working tonight. Service was much better than average for Prague restaurants. I had 2 pilsners, pumpkin chicken soup, and chicken with mushroom risotto. The pumpkin soup was absolutely fantastic. A very generous serving which included sliced chicken breast, grilled pumpkin slices, and pumpkin seeds. The chicken with mushroom risotto entrée was divine. The chicken was perfectly cooked. The mushrooms were obviously locally-sourced and the risotto was creamy yet al dente. I wish I could have tried a dessert. My bill for the two pilsners, soup, and entrée was 364 CZK. A bargain yet excellent food. The atmosphere was nice yet a bit noisy due to the concrete floors and hard surfaces. I would definitely come here again next time I'm in Prague. I recommend you make reservations if you plan to get here during peak hours or have a large group.

Monica J.

Yelp
We made reservations bc they had a delicious menu. But then the one tofu item they ran out. Then the waitress never put in our appetizer order so it didn't come. Then she tried to charge us for two waters when we only got one. I would not recommend this to anyone due to horrible service.
google avatar

Katie B.

Yelp
My husband and I were searching on Yelp for restaurants to go to while we were in Prague. This restaurant was great. It was the perfect evening. The restaurant was very elegant, but not over the top. The food was great. We had drinks, main course and dessert for a very responsible price. The staff spoke English so that was a plus. Service was a little slow, but not terrible, there was 1 lady serving the whole dining room. I would recommend making a reservation.
google avatar

Cassidy H.

Yelp
My boyfriend is a picky eater so we were very happy to find a place that serves French toast all day. The first night I ordered the spaghetti with garlic and peppers, which was simple but quite good. We returned a second night and I ordered the roast duck, which was very good. The chocolate cake was mediocre. Overall it's a cute, quiet place with good food at decent prices and an English menu.

Eric L.

Yelp
If you are looking for a light meal and hearty meal come here! The food is very refreshing after traveling 10 days in Europe. Our host recommended this place to us and its 2 thumbs up from us.

Doug K.

Yelp
First stop for coffee after landing in Prague -- waitress was fantastic and the coffee and strudel were great. Nice introduction to a great trip.
