Mitchell Creek Inn is truly extraordinary. It is simple, beautiful, and lovingly cared for by the owners. Our family of four stayed in one of the cabins - it was comfortable, charming, and had everything we needed. The outdoor common areas were lovely with chairs to relax by the creek and toys for the kids (and adults). Kayaking on the creek and down to the bay was a highlight. It is also very close to the beach park and TART. It was our first time staying there, it will not be our last.

Our family of 4 absolutely loved staying in our cabin! It was perfect for us… clean, cute and simple! We loved the property and access to the kayaks was awesome. The beach is right across the street too!

Google
A great place to stay. Not just your regular cookie cutter motel. Very beautiful communal area behind the inn with a fire pit and a winding creek around everything. Really cool that there are complimentary kayaks as well. Only con I could say which is just with location, is the inn is located right before a traffic light which gets backed up at points with traffic leaving town. Id say everything else which is amazing and unique about this place makes up for having to deal with alittle traffic backup here and there.

We had gone on a roadtrip the U.P. and on our return decided to visit Traverse City as well. I found the Mitchell Creek Inn listing with its high ratings so I called them, they were having internet issues but were sure they had a queen room available so I booked it. They called back a short time later to inform me the queen room wasn’t available so upgraded us to a larger kitchenette room at no extra cost. 👍🏼 The ratings here about the friendliness of owners, the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms are accurately spot on. The comments about the small showers are also true but not a deal breakers. It’s a place I would not hesitate to book again in the future.

My best friend and I chose the lakes of Michigan for our annual road trip. Neither of us had been here since we were kids and neither of us had been to Traverse City. We were planning to stay at the Mitchell Creek Inn for one night on our trip around the perimeter of the state.||We ended up staying for five.||The Inn is run by a wonderfully warm, kind, and totally personable husband and wife team (along with their adorable pup who wanders the grounds. It is certainly pet friendly. Which is a must when you, like me, want your dog on your road trip adventure.). We also enjoyed talking with their friend, another wonderful woman who works in the office. All this to say- the owners and staff are AMAZING.||The hotel is situated across a pretty busy road from one of the bays leading to Lake Michigan. However, the Mitchell Inn has free and very easibly accessable kayak rentals which will take you basically from your room on the lovely, lazy Mitchell Creek, under the bridge to the most beautiful and pristine beaches ever. The water was the perfect tempertature and the water was clear and clean.||In addition to the kayaks, there is plenty of green space with adirondack chairs overlooking the creek, a lovely fire pit, and both gas and charcoal grills. Although my friend and I did take advantage one night of the great local dining scene, we hit up a great butcher (Butcher's Block) about half a mile away and grilled out the other few nights in their lovely lit and intimate pavilion area.||This place is so dog friendly and attracts the nicest, most laidback guests. I enjoyed making new friends with my neighbors in the rooms and cabins next door.||I can not recommend this place strongly enough. We are leaving tomorrow and I miss the kayaks and the hospitality already. I will definitely be back next summer. And the next. And the next.||Thank you so much, Mitchell Creek Inn!

We couldn't found more perfect place to stay. Rooms are very clean beds are comfortable. The owner are awesome and helpful. We got stay with our little pup. Nice shared spaced with fireplace outside and place relax. They also offer kayak what was awesome paddle down creek into the bay. We definitely will be back here. We loved it and kids did to. Felt like a home away from home.

Google
So glad we stumbled upon this place they were super accommodating even with two dogs. We got a room with a kitchenette and two beds and it was pretty spacious and super clean. And when you go outside they have a nice common area where they have space for the dogs to walk around, a gazebo to sit under and a river along the property where they have kayaks available for free and I definitely recommend it's a 5-minute trip into lake Michigan which was absolutely so much fun! They also have a bonfire pit which allowed us to rewind and meet new people. The customer service here is amazing they go above and beyond and they're just really great people. Definitely recommend!

Great find! I stayed at the Mitchell Creek in with my mini golden doodle recently and had a wonderful experience. They really are dog-friendly (not just dog tolerant), with towels specifically for dogs, a large back yard area nicely landscaped for dogs and their people, and plenty of (dog) treats. || I’d go out of my way to stay there again!!

Yelp
Exceptionally clean and well maintained. I had to arrive after the office was closed and the owner was very accommodating. I was happy to stay at a locally owned motel and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Yelp
Great value. The place is a hidden gem. At the end of June, 4 of us stayed in a room with 2 queen beds. (Room 5). The room is very large. It had a small table and a kitchenette area. It is nice that the sink is outside of the room with the toilet and shower, so others could get ready. The beds were comfortable. There is a little porch area to sit and visit. The road is not far away, but traffic was not bothersome. We stayed in one of the 2 room cabins the next weekend. (July 4th). The cabins are set back farther on the property. They seem secluded as you can watch the creek and sit on the porch under the big shade trees. The cabin had a kitchen, living room, 2 rooms each with a queen bed. Again the sink is outside the bathroom which I like as it is easier to share with others. There is free kayak use with your stay. What a bonus. Dave took great care of us and answered any questions we had. It was nice to not be stuck in a hotel room where others are walking up and down the hall and slamming doors. It was a treat to be able to enjoy sitting in the porch in the evenings. We would stay here again

Yelp
Another lovely stay at the Mitchell Creek Inn. Cleaner and more accommodating than most large expensive places. Love the soul and "little things" that make Mitchell Creek extra special, like the complementary snacks/coffee in the lobby, the library, the kayaks, grills, and communal fire pit. Also love the fact that they are truly pet friendly. One of our favorite places!

Yelp
Seems like all the reviews have the same theme, rooms are clean owners are great. My second stay here. And nothing but positive things to say. This being an older building the rooms are bigger than a cheap multi level and the location is great.

Yelp
The owners and their employees put a lot of work in to this cute little motor inn and it shows! The rooms are clean and comfortable and the location is peaceful despite being on a main road. Coffee and light breakfast was available each morning and the complimentary microwave popcorn was a nice amenity. We didn't have a chance to take a kayak out on the creek in the back but did enjoy the goofy golf courses just down the road.

Yelp
I was really surprised with my cute little room this weekend. It was clean and the owners were super friendly. A very short walk to the beach and some places to eat (Denny's & Culvers). There's also a great outside area despite it being in a busy area. There was a pavilion, fire pit, grill, and kayaks to use on the creek. Convenient area and beyond met my expectations.

Yelp
This is such a nice place. It should be rated higher on TripAdvisor. We felt like we were in a cabin. We stayed in a room with 2 queen beds and a kitchenette. So much better than staying in a big motel. Very clean. We definitely would stay here again. Very reasonably priced. Front porch to sit on and they have kayaks to use that are included in the price.

Yelp
The two room with living room cabin was great and spacious. There were clean sheets, a working window AC, hairdryer to barrow. It was complete with a campfire and good company. There are so many big chain hotels in the area that I felt good about it being locally owned. I discovered that there was coffee and a continental breakfast was available during the morning in the lobby. Though we had a full kitchen, I figure what was offered augmented my own morning fruit regimen from the local market. I missed having time to visit the local beach just across the main highway. It was a nice experience all around.

Yelp
It seems like a lot of people liked this hotel, however there was a fare amount of construction going on that was not mentioned at time of booking, its accommodations were basic at best, almost nonexistent "continental breakfast", broken knobs and an overwhelming smell of chorine came along with the jacuzzi.

Yelp
This is hands down the best place to stay in Traverse City. The rooms are very nice, clean, and the owners are awesome. I will definitely recommend staying here, and will stay again the next time work brings us up here. Five stars, hands down.

Gary D.

Yelp
As previously reviewed the place and owners are great. I dislike chains for their lack of character. This place exudes character from the mural on the wall in our room to the sitting area with grills by the creek. To bad these small pieces of Americana are becoming a thing of the past.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to stay in TC. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Owners are friendly and accommodating...great value!

Yelp
For basic simple lodging, this is a good place. Clean. Friendly staff, good rates for the value, paid $45 / night. Liked that it was across from the bay, but the traffic could be heard in the room.

Yelp
I almost don't want to write this review as I would like to keep this little gem of a place a secret! My friend and I spent 3 nights at Mitchell Creek Inn last week. We had a room with a kitchenette which was perfect. The beds were very comfortable and everything was super-clean. It is within walking distance to bike/walking trail, several restaurants and East Bay is right across the street. There is a great area to chill out with a grill, chairs and a fire pit. Kayaks are available and put to good use! The owners, Amanda and Dave are amazing people. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and will help you out in any way they can. An example of this is: my friend's car wouldn't start one morning and Dave immediately attached a battery charger. The car started the next morning. Dave gave us directions to Auto Zone which was a few miles away to have the battery checked and we were able to drive the 3 hours back home. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
After staying at one of the chain hotels nearby we decided to give Mitchell Creek Inn a try. Glad we made that choice. Comfortable cozy stay, clean rooms, fire pit out back by the creek, and friendly owners. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone..

Yelp
NIce atmosphere, friendly staff, and a fire pit right by a creek that runs through the yard. And its a 5 minute walk from the beach. Friggn Sweet.

Yelp
Stopped off on a whim on a trip around Lake Michigan. Not only do I love supporting local businesses but the owner is wonderful and accommodating. The rooms are clean and cute, just what you want for a romantic get away for two. No frills, let's the beauty of traverse city speak for itself !
