This is a very nice hotel, we enjoyed our time here. The staff is very polite and helpful. They provide baggage delivery service if you don’t want to carry your luggage to your next hotel in Japan. Our room didn’t have a window but the air filtering was great and the air in the room was fresh the whole time. We also had the breakfast here, which was good quality for the price. Overall it was a very enjoyable stay. Also the location is great, there are several landmarks around it, and there is a train station and a couple of shopping malls. Since it is on a side street, the taxis also easily come in an pick up in front of the hotel too.

The least crammed and small of our accommodation in Japan, so that was nice to have some extra room! staff are friendly and accommodating, great location just a nice 10 minute walk from pontocho alley and great dinner spots and bars. Convenience store is just across the road for late night snacks!!

The dirtiest hotel in Japan. I asked the cleaner to wash the wall. Instead, while we were away, they moved our luggage to another room. And the safe was opened without us!!! The other room has exactly the same dirt. As a result, we had to wash the wall ourselves. In the evening, we were not warned that our room had been changed, although we were at the reception. We broke into our last room, which was already occupied. Room is smaller than in description (16m = ~ 12m) Very poor internet. Location is good. Don’t recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for 3 nights and this is a great hotel. Location is nice within walking distance to the Nishiki market. The breakfast is nice. The room is big. we pay 500Yen a night for upgrade which is great. The hotel is a little outdated but clean. The pillow were flat which is a bit uncomfortable but overall is great. 7-11 is right at the front. The staff is nice as always. Unfortunately, I did not get to experience the Onsen. My husband said it was small.

The hotel is well located, a short walk from the metro station, near a Starbucks and across the street from a 7eleven. The rooms are not that small, but still it's a problem if you bring a big luggage. The beds were comfortable but the pillows are really flat. The buffet was good, it has many options for breakfast and they have a lot of tables for seating. The staff is very attentive and friendly.

Checking out today and leaving a review at the end of my stay. I have read the previous reviews and want to clarify that you are staying at a JAPANESE hotel. If you are used to WESTERN hotels then you should go for western chains such as Hilton etc. The rooms are very spacious plenty of space to leave our luggage. Bathroom is spacious I never felt cramped. However there is no ventilation in the bathroom so it does get quite hot in there. Cleanliness was excellent. Fresh linen and towels every day were laid out for us with bottles of water. Reception and staff were very polite and greeted you consistently. Men were well groomed and the ladies were elegant, both were always smiling. I didn't try the restaurant as I am not a fan of buffet style. I didn't try the bath as I have tattoos however, the reception did try give me a cover for them but they are too large for the cover -I was fine with that as I know tattoo culture in Japan is still slowly being accepted. 5/5. Good job - will stay again.

90s hotel with hot, noisy rooms: Want to be bothered with filling in your address and phone number at check in here you go. Digital kiosk failing to work come here for great Japanese technology of 90s. Public bath: first travel the maze past every room on second floor walk down stairs to be greeted by one of the smallest facilities in town. No sauna no cold bath. Leaves a lot to desire. Room product: windows don’t keep road sound out. Blackout currents sure aren’t black out. And if you have a loud neighbor above you well then might as well move in together because their walking feels like a nightmare with a monster stomping above you. Tv channels well don’t expect much of international tv….. only cnn and Chinese station. No closet in room just hooks on the wall. Laundry service is not available during holiday……. Well you get the idea here a lot more options in town. Location: subway about 500m away kind of only option buses don’t really get close. Overall, a nightmare back to 90s hotels. Find other options here in Kyoto.

Nice typical Japanese hotel. The room are quite small but that is similar to other Japanese hotels. The staff was nice and stored our luggage after checking out since we had some time before catching our train.

Yelp
good hotel -- highlights were the included public bath/ onsen and the beautiful Japanese courtyards (: Came for 3 nights during cherry blossom season (end of March). Service is friendly and they provide a map of Kyoto and recommendations. Lobby is a bit small, but check in is pretty early (2pm) and check out is 11am. - basic and small room (but normal Japanese standard) - can hold our luggage !! (before & after check in) - good location @ downtown & Nishiki market - great Starbucks located across the street - included & free public bath/ onsen !! separate men & women and closes at 12am (luvvvv this!! amazing after a long day of traveling) - free wifi - small fridge and provided drip coffee & tea - provides a mobile phone to use and take outside (super convenient) - provides some chargers/ adapters - breakfast buffet (1800 yen/ $17) until 10am (THE BEST CROISSANTS I'VE EVER HAD!) Overall, had a great stay and definitely will stay at another Mitsui Garden hotel :)

Yelp
The staff are friendly and speak English well enough. The accommodations are acceptable. It would've been better if there were more outlets, especially convenient if we had at least 1 by the bed. The bathroom is quite small. Hotel provides body wash, shampoo, conditioner and other accessories (teeth on brush is too short for anything but short hair). The hotel is not centrally located and Über does not yet operate in Kyoto though taxis are clean and readily accessible - not all accept credit cards though and it seemed at least 1/2 of the drivers we got smoke. Ironic considering they operate "smoke free" taxis. It was costly to get anywhere due to frequent use of taxis. Be sure to plan your hotel stay closer to a train station or the temples you wish to visit. We made good use of the JR passes for unlimited use of Japan Railway trains (Shinkansen) for 7-days and visited Nara (deer park) and Yamakazi Distillery while in Kyoto. Hotel space is quite small - if you have 2 large suitcases and 2 adults, you may wish to upgrade to a deluxe twin (@ 260 sq. ft.) because their "twin" and "double" rooms are only about 200 sq. ft. I don't think this is enough space to move around and the extra space really makes a difference. The bathroom is still small though. The pillows are firm, very firm and possibly filled with buckwheat hulls - not nice for this down pillow lovin' traveler. The hotel breakfast, while convenient, not worth the ¥2100 (@ $19 USD). This hotel seemed like a good deal but given it isn't centrally located (meaning you'll spend the money in taxis) and it's quite small ($175 USD/night for a deluxe twin), there are much better hotels at the same price point. Live and learn.

Yelp
First of all, location was awesome. As soon as you exit the south door of the subway station, hotel was steps away, maybe 2 minutes walk. There was a Starbucks next to it, and a nice restaurant. It is not directly on the main street, faces the side street but not too far. I was greeted with respect by the hotel employees. Check in was no problem. I really enjoyed my room. Compared to Japanese standards, it can be considered big enough. Free Wi-Fi worked at all times. Room was very clean and room service was very good. Bed was so so, could have been better. There was a very small fridge. There was no safe but can be obtained from the reception. I also borrowed an umbrella from the hotel. I did not try their restaurant. I also did not try public bath but it looked clean and nice. Hotel is 10 minutes walk away from the famous Sanjo shopping areas. I loved the location. There were good places to eat nearby, even a bank that you can get yen. Overall, I was very happy.
