We stayed 3 nights at Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shinmachi Bettei, overall very nice stay. Location is close to the subway, Nishiki market and several restaurants. The hotel it self is very calm, reception staff is very nice and professional. Rooms are spacious (we had a superior room), with amenities, complimentary tea and water. There are also pyjamas and an adaptor for electronic devices. Cleanliness was high and I appreciated a well working hair dryer! Special mention to the Onsen bath, which was amazing! Too bad some of the other patrons did not respect the rules (very loud speaking and visible tattoos - the hotel provides you stickers to cover up small tattoos, which is great!) Breakfast was very good, with many different options for all the tastes. I strongly recommend this hotel.

Google
The most beautiful Japanese style hotel, well located in the quieter part of Kyoto but still in a walking distance to public transport and popular sights. The hotel also have an onsen free of charge to guests. Hidden away, it opens up like a traditional Japanese house a reveals a spacious lobby with an in-house restaurant. Lots of local shops, restaurants and coffee shops in the area - would definitely come back!

Google
Perfect hotel for our stay in Kyoto. The location is wonderful, as it's surrounded by excellent bars and Izakaya. It is only a 10 min walk to the Nishiki food markets and 3 different train lines. We enjoyed a wonderful experience here. The room was a great size and everything you could possibly need is here for you. The staff are so polite respectful friendly and helpful. I highly recommend a stay here.

Our first time as a couple in Kyoto and this was a lovely place to stay. The staff were very polite and welcoming (saying hello each time we entered and left the building) and all round made the environment more enjoyable and relaxing. The room itself was spacious, the beds were comfy and the shower and bathroom were also spacious and pleasant and the aircon was very welcomed!Location was good, you can walk to a number of the attractions and there are a number of train stations and subways.Thank you for a lovely experience 😊

This is hands down the best hotel experience l've ever had. I expected a nice room after seeing the pictures but it was even more beautiful in person. For full transparency - we booked the deluxe twin room. The staff was incredibly attentive and kind. It was our honeymoon and we briefly mentioned it upon check-in. The next day we were greeted by a hand-written card by the staff, which is just such a beautiful and thoughtful gesture. The breakfast is excellent and I really appreciated the Onsen in the hotel. After a long day of exploring the city it was wonderful to end the day with a relaxing bath. Thank you so much for making our stay such a wonderful experience!

Google
My daughter and I had a pleasant stay at this hotel. It is nicely located in the mid of all the tourist spots so we can walk to most. The only complain I have is that the window of our room is tinted white and we cannot open it or see outside. It would be nice to have a real window to not feel so trapped inside the room.

We’ve stayed here before, and it’s a great base for getting around and seeing Kyoto, with a n attentive, knowledgeable, capable staff.|The room is very well appointed, and quiet.|The breakfast buffet is excellent, with a huge array of tasty items.|The baths are so great! After a day of touristing, stepping into a hot bath is so relaxing!

Google
Best hotel of my trip to Japan by far. Loved the calm and clean atmosphere, the ample vending machines, coin laundry with instructions in English, helpful staff, bath, large well designed rooms, and superb water pressure. Even the pajamas felt softer. Only downside is that during a shower the hot water would quickly go from fine to way too hot and back again for no reason. If you are looking for the perfect location, there are likely better options, but I was very happy with this location for exploring Kyoto.

Yelp
It is a great hotel with a concept of supporting tourists. It is also an excellent place for business trips. They have an onsen. The best is their breakfast; they use the Kyoto ingredient, which is fantastic--highly recommended at avery desirable location.

Yelp
Located in central Kyoto near the Old City Center, this hotel is large, clean, modern, and friendly. And it only costs around $60.00 for a room with two queen beds for two people. The price is way below an equal hotel room in the same area. And there is NOTHING WRONG with this hotel. It is great. As a bonus, the front entrance opens straight into the garden courtyard of an adjacent Shinto Temple from the Hainan Period. Truly, this is one of the best hotels in all of Japan for the price. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
This is an interesting Hotel in Kyoto, it's relatively small and unassuming, tucked down a side street off a major business thoroughfare in a business district. It's location is very good, its just a few blocks from Sanjo Shopping Arcade and just around the corner from the Karasumaoike subway station. The lobby is very nice, floor to ceiling south facing windows makes it very bright and provides a view of a modest garden. The front desk staff was very helpful and spoke enough English to help when I needed it. Elevators are key card activated (an annoyance), but at least they were RFID cards. Rooms are small which is probably not surprising in Japan. Rooms contained everything I would expect in a hotel, a desk, TV, fairly large closet, tea service, and lots of other little details. The bathroom was interesting, it reminded me of bathrooms on a cruise ship. On newer cruise ships, staterooms are modular and built whole and then lifted on a crane into place on the ship. This bathroom felt modular. The entire bathroom is Toto branded and just felt cohesive. Of course there was a Toto Washlet toilet seat but there was also a nice deep tub. The only negative was the lack of shelf space for stowage of personal items. The first night it was surprisingly noisy, particular because I hadn't seen other people on my floor. Luckily the second night was quieter. I think this is a primarily local hotel, I didn't see other gaijin during my visit. This is a good place to rest your head. There are a fair number of restaurants in the area, some very well rated. The access to attractions is good while the location is mostly quiet.

Yelp
Mitsui Garden Chain is one of my favourites in Japan. They are great hotel, all sporting a mandatory "Daiyoukujyo" (or public bath), which I love. The place doesn't have many "frills", rooms are quite basic and "japan sized" (unless you ask for big rooms), prices are reasonable. All in all I have had always good experiences.

Yelp
The hotel is located in a quite neighborood in a very central position in Kyoto. You can easily reach many attractions by foot and still walking you can get in the Pontocho area in about 15 minutes. Rooms are slightly bigger than the average japanese hotel and we managed our luggage comfortably. Overall the hotel was clean and the staff kind and helpful (and knew enough English to handle a couple of requests, again that's above the average standard). As we were on our honeymoon they also left a congratulations message and gifts in our room, and that was a lovely gesture that improved the quality of our stay. There's also a restaurant accessible from the lobby, which is quite handy after a long sighstseeing day. Price is very good too so definitely reccomended. The only downside is that windows in the rooms are obscured so you can't get to see outside nor get any sunlight.

Yelp
Nice hotel in Kyoto. Conveniently located and rooms are a good size. This hotel is newer amd staff are incredibly friendly. They have a public bath if you like that. Great hotel for a good price.
