This is an interesting Hotel in Kyoto, it's relatively small and unassuming, tucked down a side street off a major business thoroughfare in a business district. It's location is very good, its just a few blocks from Sanjo Shopping Arcade and just around the corner from the Karasumaoike subway station.
The lobby is very nice, floor to ceiling south facing windows makes it very bright and provides a view of a modest garden. The front desk staff was very helpful and spoke enough English to help when I needed it.
Elevators are key card activated (an annoyance), but at least they were RFID cards.
Rooms are small which is probably not surprising in Japan. Rooms contained everything I would expect in a hotel, a desk, TV, fairly large closet, tea service, and lots of other little details. The bathroom was interesting, it reminded me of bathrooms on a cruise ship. On newer cruise ships, staterooms are modular and built whole and then lifted on a crane into place on the ship. This bathroom felt modular. The entire bathroom is Toto branded and just felt cohesive. Of course there was a Toto Washlet toilet seat but there was also a nice deep tub. The only negative was the lack of shelf space for stowage of personal items.
The first night it was surprisingly noisy, particular because I hadn't seen other people on my floor. Luckily the second night was quieter.
I think this is a primarily local hotel, I didn't see other gaijin during my visit.
This is a good place to rest your head. There are a fair number of restaurants in the area, some very well rated. The access to attractions is good while the location is mostly quiet.
