I ventured to Mizata expecting an elevated escape. Instead, I found a beautifully marketed illusion. This resort shines online but lacks soul in reality — all shimmer, no substance.|⸻||Arrival & Room:||After a two-hour drive from San Salvador, I arrived with high hopes. The check-in staff were warm, welcoming, and professional — truly one of the few highlights of this experience. I was taken to my Treehouse Bungalow with Ocean View, which was undeniably beautiful during the day. Nestled among lush greenery, it looked like the start of a dream.||But once inside, reality hit. The concierge showed me the lights and A/C remote and left. Literally. There was no room phone, the WiFi barely worked, and the A/C was stuck on one freezing setting. The blankets were paper-thin, and the room had no TV or entertainment options.||There was also a strange selection of books — including horror novels — in the room. Just great. Because that’s exactly what you want in a remote jungle bungalow with red lights and no phone. It felt eerie and careless, like no one really thought about the guest experience.||Then came the worst part: mosquitoes — everywhere. Not just in the bed, but throughout the entire room. I spent the night shaking sheets, spraying repellent (which was decorative at best), and hiding under covers just to feel safe. It felt like a mosquito-infested jungle trap, not a luxury resort.||By 7:30-8:00 PM, I had locked myself in. The resort becomes eerily dark, with creepy red lights and no visible security. As a solo female traveler, I felt deeply unsettled The vibe was cold, desolate, and far from peaceful. With the exceptions of the waves.||⸻||Amenities & Activities:||Upon arrival, I was told that massages were fully booked. The Japanese restaurant only served raw fish, and dinner service ends early. Staff said the whole resort “shuts down” at 10 PM — but honestly, there’s nothing to shut down. The NAWI lounge was bleak, the music uninspired, and the overall energy nonexistent.||The pools looked green and murky, far from inviting. The yoga offering was basic, and while the outdoor gym with wooden weights looked rustic and unique, it wasn’t functional for a real workout. Beyond the resort? Nothing. The local town has no nightlife, shopping, or sightseeing. Mizata is cut off — not in a relaxing way, but in a lifeless, hollow one.||⸻||Horseback Ride:||Advertised as a 15-minute experience, the ride barely lasted 10. There are only two horses, and while the guides were kind, the horses left droppings all over the beach — disgusting for anyone wanting to enjoy the sand. And though it’s marketed as “free,” I had to pay $10.||⸻||Dining Experience:||The food was flavorful and inexpensive, which was a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing stay. However, my meal was served lukewarm and came with a relentless swarm of flies and small bugs that made eating a miserable challenge. I lost my appetite. Other guests experienced the same.||That said, the servers, wait staff, and bartenders were absolutely lovely — attentive, kind, and truly working hard. If you visit, please tip them well. Their professionalism stands in stark contrast to the overall resort experience.||⸻|Spiritual Concerns (Not Disclosed):||The presence of a shaman and tarot card reader on site was never mentioned during booking. As a Christian traveler, I would have appreciated transparency. Had I known, I would not have booked this resort. These spiritual offerings should be clearly disclosed so guests can make informed decisions based on their values.||⸻|Final Thoughts:||Despite the natural beauty of the treehouse during the day and the excellent hospitality of the staff, Mizata by Antiresort is an overpriced, overhyped, underperforming disappointment.||It is not a wellness retreat. It is not luxury. It is a soulless marketing shell — picture-perfect online, but cold, creepy, and chaotic in real life.||Mawi Beach House? Overrated. Mizata? Even more so.||I left feeling disturbed, disappointed, and duped.|I would not recommend this to anyone — not solo travelers, not families, not couples, and certainly not anyone seeking peace, comfort, or true rest.
