Surf: I’m an intermediate-to-advanced surfer from San Diego, and honestly, the waves at Mizata are completely overrated. They’re fat, rarely hit the point properly, and are a lot of work—wide closeout sets, cliffs, and just overall inconsistent.||I stayed there for over a week during summer with consistent chest-to-overhead swell. Locals kept saying it would get better when it got smaller, bigger, a different angle, etc.—but it never did. I didn’t see a single decent turn go down the entire time (from visitors or locals). It was mostly just me and my brother linking a few fat wrapping sections. It’s really not good.||The beachbreak had zero structure. We only paddled out before dinner just to get wet. Eventually, we hired a driver to take us to Punta Roca, which was a much better wave (though honestly still a bit overhyped).||Would definitely not recommend Mizata to any surfer actually looking for decent waves on a surf trip. Feels like someone at El Salvador tourism or Surfline got paid to hype it up.||Resort: Feels like it doesn’t know what it wants to be—relaxing wellness resort or party spot. You’ve got yoga on one side and drunken tattoos on the other. I don’t really see the overlap. Plus, there was construction going on, which made it nearly impossible to actually enjoy the surroundings.||Accommodation: The rooms were just fine—nothing spectacular, but at least they were clean.||Food: Decent overall, but definitely some misses. Mostly felt like a lot of worse versions of Mexican food.||Overall: All marketing, no substance.

In terms of paradise on earth, this is pretty close. Went down for a 40th birthday trip with my wife. I was able to surf multiple times a day on the wave right out front, which was amazing but also left plenty of time for other activities (jungle hikes, horseback, riding, sightseeing, etc.) for us to do together||The resort itself has a real magical treehouse jungle feel. The staff is awesome, the place was very clean, and the food is out of this world. ||I got the real sense from talking to locals that the resort was making a positive impact on their community. ||Highly recommend for anyone seeking adventure, but with a little luxury too.

We stayed in the oceanfront treehouse at Mizata for our anniversary trip, and it was pure magic. Secluded, peaceful, and surrounded by nature it was the perfect escape to relax, reconnect, and celebrate.||Waking up to the sound of the waves and watching the sunset from our treehouse was unforgettable. We also did the meal plan, and I highly recommend it the food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared every time.||If you’re looking for a romantic, off-the-grid getaway with a touch of adventure and luxury, Mizata is it. We absolutely loved our stay and would return in a heartbeat.

Mizata AntiResort is pure paradise. From the stunning beachfront bungalows to the peaceful, nature-connected vibe, every moment felt like a reset. The staff were warm and welcoming, the food was fresh and delicious, and the views—especially the sunsets—were unforgettable. It’s the perfect place to unwind, surf, and soak in the beauty of El Salvador. Can’t wait to go back!

I ventured to Mizata expecting an elevated escape. Instead, I found a beautifully marketed illusion. This resort shines online but lacks soul in reality — all shimmer, no substance.|⸻||Arrival & Room:||After a two-hour drive from San Salvador, I arrived with high hopes. The check-in staff were warm, welcoming, and professional — truly one of the few highlights of this experience. I was taken to my Treehouse Bungalow with Ocean View, which was undeniably beautiful during the day. Nestled among lush greenery, it looked like the start of a dream.||But once inside, reality hit. The concierge showed me the lights and A/C remote and left. Literally. There was no room phone, the WiFi barely worked, and the A/C was stuck on one freezing setting. The blankets were paper-thin, and the room had no TV or entertainment options.||There was also a strange selection of books — including horror novels — in the room. Just great. Because that’s exactly what you want in a remote jungle bungalow with red lights and no phone. It felt eerie and careless, like no one really thought about the guest experience.||Then came the worst part: mosquitoes — everywhere. Not just in the bed, but throughout the entire room. I spent the night shaking sheets, spraying repellent (which was decorative at best), and hiding under covers just to feel safe. It felt like a mosquito-infested jungle trap, not a luxury resort.||By 7:30-8:00 PM, I had locked myself in. The resort becomes eerily dark, with creepy red lights and no visible security. As a solo female traveler, I felt deeply unsettled The vibe was cold, desolate, and far from peaceful. With the exceptions of the waves.||⸻||Amenities & Activities:||Upon arrival, I was told that massages were fully booked. The Japanese restaurant only served raw fish, and dinner service ends early. Staff said the whole resort “shuts down” at 10 PM — but honestly, there’s nothing to shut down. The NAWI lounge was bleak, the music uninspired, and the overall energy nonexistent.||The pools looked green and murky, far from inviting. The yoga offering was basic, and while the outdoor gym with wooden weights looked rustic and unique, it wasn’t functional for a real workout. Beyond the resort? Nothing. The local town has no nightlife, shopping, or sightseeing. Mizata is cut off — not in a relaxing way, but in a lifeless, hollow one.||⸻||Horseback Ride:||Advertised as a 15-minute experience, the ride barely lasted 10. There are only two horses, and while the guides were kind, the horses left droppings all over the beach — disgusting for anyone wanting to enjoy the sand. And though it’s marketed as “free,” I had to pay $10.||⸻||Dining Experience:||The food was flavorful and inexpensive, which was a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing stay. However, my meal was served lukewarm and came with a relentless swarm of flies and small bugs that made eating a miserable challenge. I lost my appetite. Other guests experienced the same.||That said, the servers, wait staff, and bartenders were absolutely lovely — attentive, kind, and truly working hard. If you visit, please tip them well. Their professionalism stands in stark contrast to the overall resort experience.||⸻|Spiritual Concerns (Not Disclosed):||The presence of a shaman and tarot card reader on site was never mentioned during booking. As a Christian traveler, I would have appreciated transparency. Had I known, I would not have booked this resort. These spiritual offerings should be clearly disclosed so guests can make informed decisions based on their values.||⸻|Final Thoughts:||Despite the natural beauty of the treehouse during the day and the excellent hospitality of the staff, Mizata by Antiresort is an overpriced, overhyped, underperforming disappointment.||It is not a wellness retreat. It is not luxury. It is a soulless marketing shell — picture-perfect online, but cold, creepy, and chaotic in real life.||Mawi Beach House? Overrated. Mizata? Even more so.||I left feeling disturbed, disappointed, and duped.|I would not recommend this to anyone — not solo travelers, not families, not couples, and certainly not anyone seeking peace, comfort, or true rest.

The service and staff were outstanding. I suggest you check the final bill. We were charged a deposit of $53 for the lounge chairs towels and if i hadn't noticed it on the final bill, they would have charged it, even though they were returned. The downside at the Nawi club, was that the drinks were watered down. Other than that, everything was great

Travelled for a recent yoga and meditation retreat at Mizata Resort was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment I arrived, the front desk staff were beyond helpful, anticipating every need and making check-in a breeze. The restaurant staff were equally warm and caring, serving delicious fresh meals with genuine smiles that truly enhanced every dining experience. A special shout-out must go to Amalie, our handler, who was an absolute ray of sunshine—her positive, cheerful demeanor and delightful personality made getting to know her a true highlight of the trip. And for our practice, the yoga shala views were simply priceless, offering an inspiring backdrop for our sessions. Beyond the incredible service, the entire resort maintained good standards of cleanliness and safety, ensuring a relaxing and worry-free vacation. Mizata Resort truly excels at creating a welcoming and memorable escape!

I can’t rave enough about this place. Customer service went ABOVE AND BEYOND. I want to shout out Daniel with Mizata and Luis with Nawi. Food was so affordable for how delicious it was. Our tree house room was so clean and stunning. I loved the cold plunge, yoga class, all the animals that were just chilling and so much more. My only regret was not booking more nights here.
