Mizingani Seafront Hotel

The hotel was a 5 minute walk from the ferry terminal which was great as we arrived by ferry. The staff welcomed us warmly and gave us a nice tour and history of the hotel. The hotel has great views whether seafront or at the back. The restaurant menu was also well stocked and the waiter gave a good recommendation. The view from the restaurant is great at all times of the day and allows you to observe the great vibes of the city and people. We loved the abundance and deliciousness of the breakfast. Our only complaint was that the bed creaked and was a bit hard. Other than that we’d definitely recommend and come back.

The location is excellent, right on the seafront and very convenient for exploring Stone Town. The breakfast is varied and offers a good selection, and the beds are comfortable, making for a pleasant stay. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the Wi-Fi works well throughout the hotel. The only downside is the bathroom, which feels quite humid and stuffy and would definitely benefit from a proper renovation. Overall, a good hotel in a fantastic location with room for improvement.

A great stay at Mizingani! An amazing atmosphere and love the art and decor around the hotel. The pool was a good temperature and we also enjoyed our breakfasts. Super close to the ferries and central to many activities around Stone Town. I also enjoyed spending time with Lena the resident cat who will accept scritches and will plop down next to you if you let her.

This hotel is a lovely old building and has a great location. Check in was quite chaotic and an hour later than they said. The room was lovely and big, and the bathroom was nice and recently done. The floor in the room wasn’t clean and the bed was huge but quite hard. The pillows weren’t great. The beds have mosquito nets which is good. The breakfast was really excellent and I would stay again to have that on the terrace. The pool is lovely but they have a weird collection of hard wooden furniture and not sun beds. I asked twice for late checkout in advance but didn’t get it which was a shame as I would have paid if asked. The value is ok for stone town.

The staff were wonderful - very knowledeable and helpful. When we really needed their help and advice they could not have done more for us. The hotel itself is comfortable and full of character with a courtyard pool for guests to use. Prices in $. There is no card charge. Exchange rate was fair Bedrooms are a good size and well aired

We really enjoyed our stay here! The location is perfect – right by the water and within walking distance to everything in Stone Town. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and our room was spacious with very comfortable beds. The hotel has such a cozy atmosphere with lots of plants and beautiful traditional décor – it really felt like a little oasis. The pool area was calm and relaxing too.||Breakfast was okay, with quite a big selection, but a lot of it was sweet pastries and cakes, which isn’t really our thing. The omelette station was great though!||The only downside was that the morning call to prayer from the nearby mosque was very loud around 5AM – our room was right next to the speaker, so we woke up early both mornings. Otherwise, it was a lovely and peaceful place, and we’d happily stay again!

This is a lovely old hotel on the seafront. As it’s true and most places in Tanzania, the staff is very attentive and cheerful because my husband and I are in our 70s. We are not able to navigate the stairs so they put us on the ground floor which overlooks at the pool. As with most historic buildings, some things just didn’t work all that well, but I rather enjoyed the pool.

The room I was given was average I like the antique style furniture however there’s no mattress pad on the bed and the sheets are thread bear and appears though they’re about 50 years old. Food overall was mediocre the seafood pasta I had was OK but the penne was way overcooked overall on the food. I would only have to give it about two stars. I would suggest going somewhere else I was just being lazy and ate at the hotel. The one positive I did find was I thought the staff was excellent although the area is pretty noisy at night and then the morning the ferry blast its horn at about 6 o’clock and I get at seven and then you also have to deal with the Muslim prayers being broadcast
