Mizzica is an artisinal Italian bakery. Most of their baked goods and all of the gelato and sorbet are made fresh in-house daily.
This is their second location. It opened on 2024-06-12.
The gelato is light and creamy and not too sweet. I had the Dark Chocolate Sorbet, and it was very creamy, not watery. The fruit sorbet has 55%-60% fruit.
I'm adventurous so I had a large with the following three flavours:
1. Brie, Figs and Walnut. This was surprisingly good!
2. Amarena Cherry. Definitely real cherries.
3. Mizzica Che Rocher.
My son got safer flavours in a large:
1. Dark Chocolate.
2. Mango.
3. Chocolate Al Latte (Milk Chocolate).
Their Hot Chocolate made with 24% fresh cocoa powder and milk. The same cocoa powder is used in the Dark Chocolate Gelato.
Mizzica is a husband and wife business. The husband (the chef) is from Abruzzo, Italy, and the wife is from Sicily, Italy.
Mizzica is a popular word used by Italians, meaning "wow!" as in "wow this so good/bad". The owners want customers to have an extraordinarily amazing experience of being in Italy. Because of that, they gave the interior a feeling of Italy and the products they sell (e.g., chocolate bars, bakery items, gelato/sorbet, etc) are genuinely Italian.
Chocolate bars are from Sicily.
The head statue (testa di moro) is given a name "Iada", which is made by a friend. It is named from an Italian love tragedy. Some cakes and cookies are made by an Italian chef, but the rest are made in-house.
The shells for the canolli are made by a Sicillian bakery called Trinacria Italian Bakery once a week.
Canolli fillings are made fresh in-house with flavours pistachio, ricotta, custard cream, and nutella.
Husband (Paolo) and wife (Denise) combined 9 years of experience. They also sold gelato in Italy.
There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking.
