Visiting my husband while he’s in town for work training and found this lovely bookshop! M. Judson has the coziest atmosphere - we’ve already been twice because I loved it so much. There are so many books and cute gifts to browse, and the café inside makes it even better. Such a charming spot!

Google
Lovely little spot! They had a nice, curated selection of books as well as unique stickers, magnets, keychains and many options for “blind date with a book”. I purchased a signed by Holly Jackson (the author) copy of “Not Quite Dead Yet” and an awesome coffee mug with a quote from one of my favorite writers. We also had coffee- I ordered a Brown Sugar Latte and my husband had an Iced Vanilla Latte. We also tried out some of the gourmet chocolates. The staff was friendly and welcoming. After we left the shop, we chose to sit outside as it was absolutely beautiful out this afternoon. This is a gem of a shop. Added perfectly to an already brilliant day!

Google
What a cool bookstore! But it’s so much more than a bookstore! A really cool place to browse and see unique gifts, books and a cafe! Don’t miss it!!

Google
This is a must-see if you like books and are in Greenville. The bookstore is within a historic building. There's a really nice coffee shop and lots of seating. There's a children's section in the back. They carry a pretty decent inventory of popular books. The service staff in the front were super friendly. They don't have gift bags or wrap, but they'll put colored paper in your brown bag.

Google
An incredibly beautiful and well situated bookstore with lots of great book selections.

Google
Absolutely love this local bookstore! The coziest environment right downtown, with an amazing cafe, chocolates, and lots of gifts. So fun to find my next book here, it literally just makes me want to read more so I can keep going back! =)

Google
Independent bookshop offering bestsellers and classics, plus local, Southern, and specialty items. I got something to pass the time while i sit by the Reedy and enjoy what's my 50th Birthday today. Happy birthday aswell M. Judson

Google
What a delight! This should be a must stop for every traveler. It is beautiful, magnificently stocked with the most fascinating books, and such a friendly space! I adore this bookstore! I have never been here when I didn’t find something wonderful! We had a wonderful night sipping champagne and reading at the long table by the cafe and took home a big sack of treasures. I particularly love their taste in modern quirky romances. I wanted every book there!

Yelp
Wow, where to begin! I stopped in Greenville while on a road trip. I meant to only stop for half an hour to stretch my legs and grab a snack. When I saw M Judson I had to go inside and then I spent a half hour in the bookstore alone! First of all, the book suggestions are fantastic. I saw the Tamara recommended Expiration Dates by Rebecca Serle, which I loved, so I decided to pick up another one of her recommendations. I wandered through the store for a while after that and picked up a few other things. Gifts for friends that were so cute: stickers, a cocktail mix, books. When I went to check out, who was the staff member? Tamara! She was super friendly and we swapped more book recs. I really enjoyed the friendly vibes, the solid recommendations, all of it. 10/10 highly recommend you stop by.

Yelp
Love this coffee shop bookstore! I've visited a couple times and I love going back! So many books and delicious options for treats and coffee. Even came back to town just to show my daughter this spot. Definitely come check it out!
google avatar

Yelp
This is such a cute store! Fun to shop for books since you can drink a glass of wine while you shop! Service is really friendly too. I did wish they had Nora Robert's books, but they had some other romance novelists that I tried for the first time. I ended up buying two books and a cute dog sticker for my laptop. I'd come here again just to browse with a glass of wine

Yelp
There is a coffee shop inside. This place is a quaint and I love supporting local bookstores. There are chair everywhere to sit.I love the children's room For the kids to read Books, pick out books and pillows on the floor to get comfy. They have traditional games to buy that look like books, eg scrabble, taboo. It's in a historical building so the outside has architectural interest. Stop in and slow down . The prices are little Higher than your box stores, but not by much. The employees are helpful

Yelp
For me, no trip to downtown Greenville is complete without a stop by this special independent bookstore. This place is named after Mary Camilla Judson, a renaissance woman who served as the first Lady Principal at the Female College in Greenville. to be downtown Greenville's local independent bookstore. The bookstore is located in the historic downtown courthouse building and offers bestsellers, classics, local specialty items, cards, gifts, and more. You can also indulge in drinks and sweet treats from Camilla's Kitchen while you linger. Plus, it's the holiday season so a beautiful Christmas tree welcomes you in and sends you off after your visit.
google avatar

Nicole Y.

Yelp
A ton of books that are separated perfectly! There are also little notes around the shelf with staff reviews on books. There's a little section for a "Blind Date" with the book, which is cute and a fun idea. The staff was very welcoming, and overall a great atmosphere

Yelp
Good staff recommendations & excellent curation of selection overall. A great book store in downtown Greenville, SC! Always worth a visit when in town. Beverages, too!
google avatar

Allison P.

Yelp
Book store for happy hour? Hear me out: $5 Prosecco as you stroll around looking for your next read. Drinks and treats are provided by Camila's Kitchen inside the bookstore (they sell La Rue chocolates). Staff is readily available to chat all things literature and their selection is great for fiction.

Yelp
Just a neat vintage inspired family bookstore! A lil bit of everything for everyone! The collections are small but offer the best of what's available in that genre! They have a cute lil food counter and seating and tables sprinkled throughout the store to encourage a longer visit - I think it's located in a vintage building too! Their prices are affordable and the staff really knows books!

Yelp
I adore local business and adore local bookstores even more! This was one of the more charming locally owned bookstores I've been into in awhile and the staff was fantastic! They have a thriller section right when you walk in and when I couldn't find one of my favorite authors being carried there, got to geek out with some of the staff of why they should carry him (John Marrs if you're curious.....you're welcome!) They have a huge selection of various genres along with personalized write ups of some of the staff picks. If it's overwhelming, stop at the cafe inside and get a coffee and pastry to help you through it. I'm not sure what the building it's located in used to be but would love to know the history behind it as well.

Yelp
This bookstore is everything you want an independent bookstore to be. Beautiful building right in the middle of downtown, apparently it used to be a courthouse. It is absolutely beautiful. Word on the street is, it was named after a trailblazing lady who donated her savings to start a library at the Female College of Greenville, where she was the first Lady Principal. What is not to love?! That is before you walk in to the beautiful architecture absolutely bursting with literature. They have the customary knick knacks, but books everywhere. And LOTS of employee recommendations, which I love. Near the back they have the blind date section. Books wrapped in brown paper with just a little synopsis. The book is a surprise, which I think is absolutely charming and something that you could only pull off at an independent. It is a total gem.

Yelp
M. Judson Booksellers is located inside the former family courthouse with Beaux-Arts architecture. The store is named after Mary Camilla Judson who couldn't enroll in Yale as she was female. She became the first Lady Principal at the Female College in Greenville. She started a debate team and introduced exercise and donated her savings to start a library at the college. After reading about her at the store, it seemed very fitting that they named the store after all she did for women in Greenville. This bookstore is very unique in the way it is setup and the decor. It is very inviting and the staff is so friendly. The selection of books was amazing. This bookstore is busy, busy, busy so it was great seeing so many other readers. The bookstore is full of books and other items. One section of the store is a bakery/coffee shop. I think they have wine too.

Yelp
What's NOT to like about a bookstore? It has all the latest bestsellers as well as obscure titles. It has a special section for children. In addition to books, it has other interesting items like dish towels, vinyl stickers, and a section for sweets and drinks. I love the walls of books around the cashier. I liked the vinyl stickers and bought 7 for presents. This was my first time in Greenville, and I would love to return - especially to spend more time here.

Yelp
My absolute favorite bookstore!! I came across this place when I was traveling through Greenville and fell in love. It has such a cozy vibe, friendly service, and fun events throughout the year. There happened to be an author speaking when I was there which was fun to listen in on. I'll definitely be back if I'm evern in Greenville again!

Caro J.

Yelp
Thank god for Itsy!!!!!!! Not only will these workers help you find the best book and yummy treats, they'll go out of their way to help you find your lost purse. But besides this, this is legit the best place in Greenville, so if you haven't been, whatchu waiting for.

Briana S.

Yelp
I came in to look for a children's book (cute area!) and get a hot tea and muffin. I think this place is more of a "bookstore that happens to have a coffee shop" rather than a destination coffee shop. Whole my hot tea was poured into a glass tea pot that was pretty, the woman didn't let it steep. She just poured the water over the tea, took a minute to grab a cup, then poured the "tea" into the cup. So I paid $4ish dollars for a cup of slightly colored hot water They also didn't offer to heat up the muffin, though they did when I requested! It was very very basic and not worth the money. As far as a bookstore though it's in a beautiful building and was fun to walk around.

Yelp
One of my favorite stores of all time. I could spend all day here reading reviews of the staffs' picks. The gift pairings of books and other trinkets or wine is perfection. They have a mystery date with a book section with the covers wrapped and summary outline written on brown paper. There's a large section dedicated to local artists and authors, and books about local places. Very niche- for example "waterfalls and hikes of Anderson county." I'm here for it. They have events and midnight releases! (I wish I was in town for Crescent City release)! Their lattes are amazing. I only which they had more seating so I could spend all day here.

Hannah B.

Yelp
incredible bookstore! fantastic selection and guided as well, and different and interesting merchandise. some of the books are a bit much in price but honestly it's worth it. great service, clean bathrooms, space to do work, and amazing coffee shop inside? this is one of my favorite places in greenville
google avatar

Yelp
I'm really torn about rating this adorable book store 3. I absolutely loved the book selection, clever counter design, gift options and vibe. I had selected a few items as gifts. One item didn't scan but had a barcode sticker with $9.95 price. After three staff members discussed the item, another look up was done manually. In spite of the sticker price of $9.95 I was told "our price is $19.95." While I will definitely revisit the store when in Greenville, I will watch the pricing of items. If the price was honored, I would rate M Judson 5.

Yelp
Unfortunately during my trip to Greenville as a visibly Queer / Trans person, I didn't feel comfortable in many spaces. This bookstore did not adhere to that trend, it is a place that feels safe for me. They even have little books by the checkout called something about how to defend your faith as an LGBT Christian. I can't imagine how many southern Queer folks would benefit from just seeing that at the checkout. Amazing selection of books anyway, impeccably organized and delightfully designed for a wonderful experience.

Bryana G.

Yelp
This is the cutest bookstore I've been to in a very long time. The selection was incredible, as a reader I am guilty of perusing for hours before finally making my selection. There were a lot of hidden gems and it was incredibly organized. There were a lot of staff recommendations which was extremely helpful and even a section for blind date with a book. The service was amazing, they were knowledgeable about their selections and what to recommend to reader. I even witnessed an employee help a young lady looking at a book from a high shelf and he got it for her without her asking. Overall it's a great, friendly vibe with lots to look at. I anticipate visiting very often!

Yelp
Happened upon this wonderful bookstore while strolling through downtown. This is a place where you want to stay a while. Browse their books, sit, enjoy a delicacy and beverage at the cafe and then check out more of their goods. Beautiful setting, excellent displays, some even with personal recommendations of the staff.

Yelp
Amazing bookstore in a great area! Would totally recommend going. Classic section was my favorite.
google avatar

Yelp
Charming bookstore, gift shop, coffee, shop and restaurant all in one. I ate a delicious sausage and fontina biscuit, unfortunately, it was so delicious I didn't even have time to take a photograph.
google avatar

Qiana H.

Yelp
The book store is just on the first floor of this building. They have different selections in different areas of the stores. The books very neatly organized. They do have a few seating areas but not many. There is a little cafe there but I didn't partake in that.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
Best bookstore in the Greenville area, complete with coffee/dessert station. There's more here besides books and smiling faces. Cute housewarming gifts such as dish towels, magnets, mugs, and decor items. There's a broad selection of reading glasses too! Lots of interesting socks and tote bags too.

Yelp
M. Judson is a MUST SEE when in Greenville! I love the warm atmosphere the bakery/coffee shop inside gives. Most of all the cute little trinkets, posters and blind date books was so much fun to take a look at. I ended up getting a poster which was very affordable surprisingly for the print. I also had a mint chocolate cupcake which was incredible fluffy with just the right amount of icing not too sweet! I will definitely be visiting again and bringing family/friends here on our walk around downtown Greenville!

Yelp
As the Four Seasons sang: Oh! what a Night ! The Page Pairings Event. Six books; six authors; six different wines LOOSELY paired with the book. You register in advance and pick up your brochure when you sign in. The brochure has your ticket for one of the books offered in the pairing. Your choice. Then the fun begins! Select a station where you'll find copies of the book; the author of the book; a cooler with the paired wine; and an employe of M. Judson who pours your wine ( a GENEROUS pour) and introduces you to the author. The wine is served in the appropriate glass for the selection of wine -real glass! The authors are gregarious, the employees are fun and friendly. The variety of wines is intriguing. The books sound divine and our crew each selected a different one so we could read and share. It was a delightful evening and when I told a friend in Chicago about it she was ecstatic and proclaimed that she was heading to HER book store in the Windy City to get them on board with this concept! I'll be back for the next one!

Yelp
Bury me in this bookstore + I must tell you about M. Judson Booksellers; I loved it. Located in an old courthouse in downtown Greenville, South Carolina, giving it the most aesthetic vibes before you even step foot in the store. Expectations were high from the outside, but the bookstore itself did not disappoint. Not only was it cute inside as well, the most important thing is that they had a large selection of books. I particularly enjoyed the staff recommendations section. I wanted to buy so many but had to limit myself (boo airline weight requirements) Not only was it cute and had a varied collection, but the lady working was super passionate about books and very friendly. Did I mention they also have a coffee shop inside the store? Come on, what more could you want? If you find yourself in the area, it's a must-see. I wish I lived closer so I could always go here, but l'll live off the lingering good vibes until my next trip to the South.

Yelp
Just a magical place with coffee! All varieties of. books with a great kids section. The decor is fantastic. Even the bathroom is great! Employees very front and helpful. There was always someone on the floor floating around to answer questions and make suggestions . Atmosphere is very open and supportive of LBGTQ and POC.

Yelp
M.Judson Booksellers on Main Street in Greenville is a great book store and resource for books and other cool gift items. I really like the layout and way this store is organized as it is very open and inviting and you are able to find everything you are looking for. I enjoy the variety and quality of different items they have available and have found really good gift ideas every time I have been here. The staff here is very involved and works hard to make sure that you have all of the assistance that you need and a really good shopping experience.

Yelp
By the looks of it, this book store is just very cute. The way they have their books on the stands, the cafe/food section, the display of mugs and souvenirs you can purchase all make this place absolutely adorable. It was pretty packed yesterday. Not sure if this is normally how it is or because there were so many people in downtown Greenville getting ready to watch the Christmas Parade. There are many interesting things about this little store. My favorite was the section for the "blind date"! So creative!! This section basically has a number of books covered in brown paper with little hints on them of what the book might be about. Not sure if you actually have to buy the book or you can just have it for the day while you're there but whatever it is, I thought this was such an excitingly clever idea. The place overall is so inviting! If it wasn't so busy and we had more time, I would have definitely spent time there looking through books, sipping on some coffee and asking questions. I would strongly recommend people to visit it and discover it themselves. There are many little interesting things happening there. Definitely going there again the next time I visit Greenville, SC.

Yelp
This place was awesome and in addition to standard bookstore offerings has blind-date books. I haven't opened mine yet but it promises to "melt my brain in all the best ways".

Sophie K.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in Greenville! I love the blind date with book section! Great children's section as well
google avatar

Yelp
Adorable! Bought four books and some knick knacks. I will be back next time I'm in Greenville.

Yelp
This is the main bookstore in downtown Greenville on Main St. It's very popular with tourists and locals. It's in a historical building next to the Westin Poinsett hotel. There's a cafe on the same floor. The bookstore and cafe seem to be joined. Nice staff. Lots of cool cookbooks about Southern cooking.

A H.

Yelp
My recommendation for this business is mainly for the coffee. WOW, the specialty coffees are divine! Customer service is outstanding and the baked goods are fresh and tasty. It is a wonderful place to search for books and small gifts.
google avatar

Gil G.

Yelp
I love this store because it represents everything that the big chains are not. They feature lots of local authors and books about the area. You'll find reading material you wouldn't find elsewhere. It's co-location with the cupcake / coffee store make it a nice place to relax. Just remember to actually BUY your reading material. Don't be one of those cheapskate people who sits and reads the books and magazines and then puts them back on the shelf without paying for them (people like that really annoy me). This store needs to earn a profit to continue in business and you should honor them accordingly. Okay ... now I'll get off my soapbox. Go and enjoy.
google avatar

Iris B.

Yelp
we thought the book part of the store was wonderful. the chai tea was tasteless it was thrown away and the drip coffee was so bitter I took a few sips and had to throw it away. I think you can do better.
google avatar

Shannon B.

Yelp
The entrance to this place is quite breathtaking. Inside you'll find all sorts of fiction, non-fiction, cooking and young categories of books. Lots of cute things for sale that make any lady want to buy them all. The most interesting thing about this place is that it's combined with Camilla Kitchen. You'll want to come here for hard-to-find recipe books.

Mark M.

Yelp
I stopped into the bookstore pretty randomly with only having been in Greenville for 45 minutes; but I knew instantly that it would be my "base camp" for planning my vacation days there. The following morning, I availed myself of a perfectly steamed latte, and June (owner) had a sixth-sense that I was not there to browse inconspicuously, and offered me a cordial "hello". . . 15 minutes later, I walked out with a hand-scribed list of her favorite waterfall hikes, a prolific book on upstate waterfalls, and a dapper example of "smart-southern" casual dress-wear, by way of her colleague Jim. All of this because I was attracted by the architecture of the building: a renovated courthouse.

Yelp
Are you one of those people who could never get any work done in the library because of all the distractions? Friends at another table working on a group project, books about topics that having nothing to do with why you were there in the first place, a solid WiFi connection - It's an information overload! Well take all that and add a cool atmosphere in the center of Main with sandwiches, snacks, coffee, and even alcohol! They have cool nerdy gifts, helpful staff, tables to "try" and get some work done, and even power outlets with USB ports... Yes USB ports! You even feel like you're back in school when you ask the lady at the front desk for a pass to the bathroom. It's the perfect place to make plans for getting all sorts of work done, but then procrastinating for a couple hours with the title and blinking cursor on your laptop screen!

Liz C.

Yelp
Great atmosphere!! Check out 4th floor book fair. Great sticker and key chains. Some great small gift ideas. There is even a section for blind date with a book. Stop in when you're in downtown Greenville.
google avatar

Amy E.

Yelp
MANY FUN THINGS! Happiest cookbook section ever! My husband says, "I thought they would have more books..." probably bc there were many gift-y type things. STILL. Awesome spot. Don't miss it.
google avatar

Markita S.

Yelp
This is easily one of the best bookstores I've ever visited in my life! The selection of books that has been carefully curated, the super helpful staff, the beautiful space itself...truly a gem. Even if you don't think you like books, this is a place to visit if you're ever in downtown Greenville.
google avatar

Erin R.

Yelp
Super cute book, trinket and coffee shop. The hidden gem for me though, is the 'blind date' section near the back. Books are wrapped in paper and 3 hand written points about the book are made on the front - so the book you buy is a surprise! I loved this concept so much, I bought 2. I ended up really loving one of the books and really hating the other but I would do it all over again regardless. What a fun concept.
google avatar

Cheryl H.

Yelp
Great small bookstore in the center of downtown Greenville within walking distance of Falls Park. Plenty of tables and chairs, loads of books, and local items for sale. It's in a historic building with a marvelous spoon chandelier in the entryway. Come in and browse, eat a cupcake, and celebrate reading.
google avatar

Shelby B.

Yelp
Finally, a bookstore in downtown! And not only that, but it is a locally-themed bookstore! Excellent. The selection isn't amazing due to its size, but I gave 5 stars because of its uniqueness-it's not just another Barnes and Noble. Pros: -Lots of local authors -FREE WATER -Nice cafe, get a sandwich and coffee while you peruse the books -Cute souvenirs and locally-made goods -A super cool section where the books are covered in brown paper so you cannot see the title, author, or cover, and the staff have written descriptions from which you select your book. They call it "blind date with a book," super cool. -Lots of events, even for the kids! -Public bathrooms (not even starbucks down the street has these) Cons: None really!
google avatar

Yelp
This quintessential local bookstore has the best collection of sassy and unique local postcards and greeting cards, not to miss! We love stopping in!
