This Surreal National Park Has 2,000+ Natural Stone Arches, Starry Night Skies, and a Scenic 18-mile Drive

"When I wanted more vertical adventure, Moab Adventure Center led canyoneering trips just outside the park to test rappelling and rock-climbing skills in a scenic but guided environment; inside the park you can also canyoneer with a permit or join ranger-led Fiery Furnace tours." - Stephanie Vermillion Stephanie Vermillion Stephanie Vermillion is a travel journalist and photographer covering culture and adventure for Travel + Leisure Outside, and more. Overalll: We had an incredible canyoneering and rappelling experience with the Moab Adventure Center. Due to weather calling for bad rain, our adventure was rescheduled on a day that they normally have off. The guides were exceptionally professional and knowledgeable, ensuring safety while sharing fascinating insights about the terrain and general area. I highly recommend this business for its variety of adventure packages and because of the highly trained and professional staff. Business: The location is easily found off of the main road that cuts through Moab and there was plenty of parking. They have a variety of items to purchase, to include equipment and clothing for some of the various excursions that they offer. The business also has clean bathrooms to use before the trip and several changing rooms. Package: Moab Canyoneering - Bow and Arrow Canyon. Guides: Sam and Canyon Highlights: We received a hiking bag that carries all of the necessary equipment needed for rappelling and safety. They also gave us each a water bottle that we kept after the trip. We had two other couples join us for a total of six guests and two guides. You get to see petroglyphs, wildlife, and awesome views. The guides covered so many things about the history of the area, canyoneering, and other offered experiences. Recommendation: Have an alternate (or two) date/time range in mind when you are locking on your adventure. The weather predictions changed several times over the course of a day and caused our original date to need to move, but we built in that flexibility. Luckily, the company offered our adventure on a day they normally have off.

Awesome canyoneering trip with Sam & Ben! My wife & I are fairly experienced hikers & climbers, but this was our first canyoneering experience. We were so glad Moab Adventure center allows 2-person trips, because we had a private guided experience through Bow & Arrow Canyon. It was amazing. After the mercifully short on-road approach to the trailhead, we loved the hiking across interesting & moderately challenging rocks. Our guides were a wealth of knowledge, besides being entertaining to talk with. They clearly love their work, & work well together. . Then we got to the rappels. So. Much. Fun. Sam & Ben’s instruction was clear, making our descents safe. Even though it was my wife’s first time rappelling she was able to feel comfortable after the first two. The route ended perfectly with a short jaunt to the van. We didn’t need to bring anything, since Moab Adventure Center supplied everything to include water bottles & snacks. I would definitely go on more trips with them!

Anna was our guide for the full day river rafting trip. She was absolutely amazing. She is so intelligent and has such a beautiful aura. She told us interesting facts about the surroundings and was very knowledgeable about the Colorado River. We had a great experience for my husband’s birthday. We want to make sure Anna receives recognition for her excellent skills. We will miss her! We plan to come back in the near future and hope we are selected to be with Anna again. Thank you Moab Adventure Center!

Google
Our family did the Full Day Colorado River rafting excursion with the BBQ lunch at Red Cliff Lodge! This trip was amazing. We got picked up and dropped off at our Resort before and after the adventure and our guides were amazing! It was a HOT day and perfect for the river. This is a very mild rafting experience and was perfect for our 12yr old and 9 year old that have never done any type of river adventure before. Kalli was our individual guide and was great. This is the perfect trip for a family with minimal to no experience.

Google
I purchased three separate excursions with Moab and they all exceeded my expectations. Day 1 was the Hummer Sunset Safari which was great fun and included stops with great views of Moab, the Colorado river and Arches National Park (pictures below). The driver Chad was gave an exciting ride and his knowledge of the area is great. Everyone had a fantastic time. Day 2 we took the Arches National Park Sunset Discovery tour, which is the best way to see the park for your first time. Afterwards, you can go back on your own and know where to go to see and hike to the places you want with an in depth knowledge. Our guide Nicole is a geologist and provided excellent insight to the arches and rock formations. A 4 hour tour well worth the money. (pictures below) Day 3 we did the Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Adventure and it did not disappoint. Great views from 3000 up in the sky. The crew are all great and our pilot was outstanding. (more pictures) 5 Stars

Google
I booked this full day rafting trip to celebrate my sister's birthday. And....WOW! We were so blown away by the trip down the mighty Colorado River, the ride to and from the drop off and pick up points, the buffet lunch, and the humor and skill of the guides, and in particular our guide Adam. I'll definitely do it again when I come back!

Google
The Moab Adventures “Half Day Colorado River” is PERFECT for kids and parents. We took a 6, 8, and 9 year old. The 6 yr old jumped in with his dad and floated one of the “ripples” that are very safe. It’s beautiful, just the right length of time, and family friendly yet excellent for the parents. The scenery is breathtaking. Adam Rice, our guide, was warm, affable, informed, and loved being with the kids. It was a lifetime memory and a “bucket list” trip for the adults.

Google
We booked a morning bus tour of Arches national park in conjunction with our Rocky Mountaineer Red rocks to the Rockies trip. It was the highlight of our whole trip. The van picked us up right at the hotel and dropped us off at same at the end. Capacity was capped at 8 (10?), but it was us and one other couple. The tour was OUTSTANDING. The guide, and sadly I did not get his name, was unbelievably knowledgeable about the park, the history, etc. It was like having a 1:1 tour of plants, rocks, etc. Plus he was very kind and considerate. Answered questions and was very thoughtful. It was well worth the money and makes me interested in booking with them again. Loved it and highly recommend.

John M.

Yelp
A group of 8 friends took the full day raft trip with barbecue lunch at Red Rock ranch. It was the perfect trip we envisioned. Because it was in October the river level was low so it was more a scenic float than exciting rapids. But that was exactly what we wanted. The scenery was fabulous and the guide was talkative giving us information about the geology and the formations. All in all, it was a great introduction to the area and I would recommend it to everyone.

John L.

Yelp
With only one day in Moab we selected our adventure at Moab Adventure Center. So glad we did.We went on the sunset adventure in the arches.Even though it was raining and cloudy our guide made sure to made up for the weather.Because of the rain we got to experience fantastic water falls from the rain running off the rocks. We also got off the shuttle many times to experience the arches up close and personal. Our guide escorted safely deep into the rock formation for a unforgettable photo that we will treasure forever. Our only regret is not planning a longer stay in Moab,so many great things to do.Hope to come back in the future.Book with MAC you wont be disappointed. Thanks Senior Couple.

Yelp
I only had one evening in Moab after my fantastic trip from Denver on the Rocky Mountaineer Train. I found a trip called "sunset at Arches National Park" at the Moab Adeventure Center. I checked the reviews and they were good so I booked. I arrived in the afternoon after being totally pampered on the Rocky Mountaineer train. I am something of an amatuer photographer, and was looking forward to photographing Arches in the changing light. Chris was our guide. Chris immediately made sure we understood what important an opportunity we have to preseve places on this earth for future generations to learn about and enjoy our world. His knowledge of history and geology is extensive and he shares it in a fun manner, so you learn and have fun while learning. I am happy to say I do have my picture that will be blown up, framed and placed in a proment place on my wall of fond memories of my travels. My only regret is that I did not allow time to partake in other experiences from the Moab Adventure Center. Did I mention they even picked my up and returned me to my hotel?

Yelp
My wife and I took the "Sunset Discovery" tour with Kim and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We took this tour since I was worried about getting motion sickness on some of the other tours offered here. I was even worried about this one, but Kim's driving was smooth and I had no issues. Kim was also very sweet helping us out in different areas by holding things and offering to take pictures, providing great commentary about the park and town, and answering all of the many questions I had.

Yelp
This company is great. Booked 4 diff tours and they all were amazing! Office was professional and helpful, the guides were amazing and professional and knowledgeable. We did the full day rafting, zip lining, arches sunset and the hummer H1 tour. If I'm ever back in Moab I would def pick this group again :) Thank you

Yelp
We took 2 great tours the Sunset Arches and Boat dinner light show. The Moab Adventure Center staff were informative and friendly. They made selecting our tours easy!!
google avatar

Vickie S.

Yelp
Very nice dinner and boat light show. The boat tour with captain Ron and his sister narrating facts about the history of the River and Moab was fascinating.

Jill M.

Yelp
Our guides were so excellent! Knowledgeable and patient and funny! I am a beginner at 59 and was able to everything my sons in their 20's did. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The perfect event for the ending of a perfect day in Moab. Excellent guides and well knowledgeable about the park! Our tour guide Casey showed us all the ideal setting for all our special pictures of the sunset!! Well done, thank you!

Carl F.

Yelp
We purchased two spots for all day rafting on West Water. The price was well worth the adventure! Scenery was majestic! We were able to go to the Adventure Center the day before and speak to the clerk at the counter. They helped us prepare with made our experience that much more enjoyable. I have to give a big shout out to our rafting guide Hana! This 22 yr old young lady was efficient, professional, and knowledgeable. She took the time to learn everyones name and really made everyone feel at home. She was an expert guide as she took us through each rapid with expert care and efficiency. Safety was emphasized throughout the trip. We were blessed to have Hana as our guide. i would highly recommend this trip to anyone for a full day enjoyable experience.

Yelp
My sister and I just got done with the sunset Hummer tour. It was a blast! Our driver Mike, who has been doing this for 21 years, is hilarious. He's a hoot! He took the time to take everyone's photos during the sunset and even did a quick extra stop to look at the sunset. If you're looking for an off roading company to go through, choose this company and you're in for a treat if you have Mike as a driver! Plus out of all the vehicles we saw on the road this one was def the best with ample space and the open air top. Thank you so much Mike!

Yelp
We took the Colorado River Full Day Rafting Trip with Moab Adventure Center as a family of four (with a 15-year-old and an 11-year-old), and everything was five stars from start to finish! The entire experience was seamless--the bus ride, the helpful info ahead of time, the delicious lunch, and of course, the rafting itself. But what really made the day outstanding was our guide, Cam. Cam was personable, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. He went out of his way to connect with every person in the boat, making sure we felt comfortable, safe, and most importantly, had a great time. He paced the trip perfectly for our family and made the whole adventure memorable. If you're rafting in Moab, I can't recommend Moab Adventure Center--and especially Cam--enough!
google avatar

Mike W.

Yelp
Excellent way to spend a day in Moab. Guides were great, lunch was great and the rafting was breathtaking. I went in August when the river was more tame but still plenty of excitement on the rapids. I highly suggest you take a day and ride the river. Bring plenty of sunscreen.
google avatar

Joshua S.

Yelp
We booked a rafting trip for our first adventure in Moab. The river was calm, but had amazing views and the kids loved being able to do so much swimming on the river including shooting through some rapids (nothing crazy) outside the boat. Our guide, Ethan, was fantastic. This was definitely a highlight of our trip. Already thinking about another longer more adventurous trip and will definitely use Moab Adventure Center!
google avatar

Shanti H.

Yelp
Excellent experience from the minute we walked in! Our driver/guide Mike was funny, knowledgeable and seriously thought of everything. He even had blankets for the chill on our sunset Hummer ride. The ride is exhilarating and the views are jaw-dropping! I would recommend 100%!
google avatar

Donelle B.

Yelp
Took the Hummer tour! What an adventure!! Two hours of thrills and amazing sights. Craig our driver aware of what we could handle and played to the kids excitement while keeping in minde the other couple who rode with us!! He took amazing shots of our family explained so many things about Moad, rock formation and plant life.

Roberta H.

Yelp
Very well organized company. They think of everything. Bus tour was amazing. The bus was well air-conditioned. They had ice cold water and snacks. Our guide( sorry I don't remember his name) was very knowledgeable and quite the historian. Always asking if he could do anything for us. Helpful talking pictures. It was amazing.
google avatar

Daryl P.

Yelp
Dustin was great, the ride was fun and challenging but not dangerous. We had an amazing guide in Dusty.

Jeff M.

Yelp
We participated in both the Hummer trip to Hell's Revenge and the Arches sunset tour. We highly recommend both trips!!! Chad was our guide on the hummer and took great care of us! Kim was great with the sunset tour and was very knowledgeable and easy to visit with. These two experiences are a must for anyone coming to Moab!!!
google avatar

Yelp
This was money well spent - and the highlight of a week my family spent in Moab. The 2 hours went by in a blink because the adventure started as soon as we left the parking lot. Craig was our driver and he was a hoot! Dude was cracking jokes and working that Hummer like he had done these trails a 1000 times. It was a thrill of a lifetime to have him take us on those back roads. You will NOT be disappointed! The adrenaline rush you get from climbing these trials is intoxicating. You'll be talking about it for years. Thank you Craig for an awesome day - and for your knowledge - AND for your photography skills. Cheers. PS - ALWAYS remember to tip your guides.

Christopher A.

Yelp
We did the Arches morning tour. The experience was great, the morning was good before the heat started, Patrick was our guide, very knowledgeable, and worked with my parents who are in their late 70s.

Bob B.

Yelp
The trip down the Colorado River was exceedingly slow. This resulted in much time spent idling (not rafting) to fill the 4 hour time frame. A suggestion would be to be to end the morning raft trip at the Red Cliffs Lodge (rather than just before the Rocky Rapid). This could easily be accomplished within the allotted 4 hours and allow participants to see more of the river. Also, it would seem that this minor modification would net some time savings in terms of transport to and from Moab Adventure Center.
google avatar

Olivia A.

Yelp
Our guide Cam was by far the best guide on the full day (14 mile) trip. He told us so much more history (that wasn't bs, even though it sounded like it totally could be ) than I've ever heard with other rafting companies. Not only that, he didn't treat us like 5 year olds! Knowing the river by heart section by section is extremely difficult when it changes weekly, so if a guide messes up on water depth don't give him/her crap because it might have been deep enough to jump off the boat a week or even a day before. Food was great! Nice not having to make lunch on a hot beach, but rather enjoy it in the shade of Red Cliffs Lodge and have access to flushing toilets in air conditioning.
google avatar

Sam A.

Yelp
Gavin and Bobby were terrific guides and made my 10 year old's first-time zip lining a huge success.
google avatar

Theresa G.

Yelp
My friends and I took part in the Southwest Sampler package. The communication prior to the trip from this company was stellar. I felt prepared and taken care of throughout the entire experience. The guide for our Arches National Park tour, Chris, was extremely knowledgeable and professional, making sure everyone in our group had a great experience. Our rafting and overnight camping guides, especially Izzy, took excellent care of us and made sure we had an exhilarating, yet safe, experience. The Hummer tour with Chad was alternately terrifying and awe-inspiring. Overall this was an adventure I will happily reflect on for years to come!

Yelp
If I could give Moab Adventure Center a 10 out of 5 I would! We took the sunset tour on the 4th of July and Sue and Anna and they were such fun people! Anna was the driver and Sue did all the speaking. Sue educated us on everything throughout the tour. When we got out of the bus and walked she made sure to have small talk with everyone at some point. I am recovering from 2 major knee injuries and this was my first "big trip" post the injury. Sue was great about offering help down some steps and declines and allowed me to just walk whatever I could do and not worry about being with the group. Sue also asked educational questions pertaining to what she told us, which for the young children I thought was a fabulous idea. After we watched the sunset and got back on the bus, Anna sang the National Anthem, as a tribute to The 4th of July. What a fun tour! The very next morning we took the Sliprock Hummer Safari tour with Craig. Craig was great! We had a family of 6 with us with small children and he both catered to the kids and to the adults. Craig was full of awesome knowledge about not only the rocks, but about the plants as well. He told us all about several that are used in everyday medicines and even spoke about how he made yeast bread with the berries from the Juniper bush. Craig was so fun to hang out with, we would have ridden on that adventure all day! I will say that if someone has back/neck/shoulder issues, I'd be careful if the hummer tour, even with the seatbelt on and holding on to a handle, you do bounce around some.
google avatar

Neil R.

Yelp
We did the daily trip with Guide Nancy, who was fantastic at pointing out the wildlife and highlighting the views. She sent us through the biggest parts of the rapids and we got thoroughly soaked. Lunch at Red Cliff was very nice. Highly recommended for anyone that wants river experience but isn't up for Cataract Canyon.
google avatar

Joe A.

Yelp
We had a fabulous time floating down the Colorado River. The views were stunning and the trip down the river was easy with some very simple that everyone chuckle and cheer. The best part of our guide was Bridger. He was a fantastic guide and showed us all there was to see. He explained the rocks and the different layers of the walls. He shared his many adventures with us and was absolutely great at controlling the raft! We had an amazing time and would do it again in a heart beat.

Anna V.

Yelp
We walked in and spoke with Doug who talked to us about the tours they offer. He has an easygoing personality and explained what the 3 hour Sunset Hummer tour was about and we signed up. My husband, 8 year old son and myself hopped on the hummer safari at 5pm with 2 other moms with daughters for the 3 hour thrill ride with Mike. Our driver Mike was awesome and really knows how to maneuver through Hells Revenge. It was such a cool experience and well worth it. The store has some really cool gifts and everyone was just so nice, we could not have been more pleased!!
google avatar

Sheri A.

Yelp
Our family of 5 (kids ages 5, 10, 12) took the morning tour of Arches National Park. It was perfect for our family, especially with the 5 year old! Chris was our guide and he was absolutely amazing!! Very patient with my kids and his knowledge about the park and surrounding area was second to none. Highly recommend this tour.

Gigi M.

Yelp
This was so fun!! Chad was our tour guide and we couldn't ask for anyone better, he was so professional and fun to be around! We got to learn about the history of Moab and experience the desert! Loved it so much, 10/10 recommend for all people!! Thank you Moab!

Max W.

Yelp
We had blast during our Jeep Tour and our White Water Rafting trip. Mike was the best jeep driver possible and made us have an amazing time. He made us have a thrilling ride and brought us to great views. Ethan was the best White Water Rafting guide and brought us through some extraordinary rapids. Would recommend for anyone.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Our Epic Adventure was just that...EPIC!!! Kim took my reservations and her suggestions were excellent! Robbie was our guide and we've never had more fun! My 12yr old and I did the Hell's Revenge/Fins & Things! Safety was never a question. My son said "That was the best day and it will be hard to beat!". Thank you Epic for an awesome time in Moab and a family experience we'll never forget

Yelp
We did a day tour white water rafting trip. Calvin was our guide and did a great job; he really kept things fun for the whole group. He was interactive, informative, and helpful in navigating the river. The rafting trip was a good mix of relaxing while floating down the river, hitting some rapids, and enjoying some swimming along side the boat. The break for lunch with hotdogs, hamburgers, and chicken hit the spot. Overall I felt the day trip timing was perfect and gave a good opportunity to explore the river.

Yelp
The Colorado River is different than the tight drops and pools of the smaller rivers I've rafted with a guide. It's wide and full of some magnificent standing waves in some places along Westwater Canyon, the day trip I did. The registration and payment were smooth and well-oiled. Nearly all digital, so you'll need service in Moab or you can stop in. Their communication is thorough, but the Westwater Canyon day trip has 3 hours of bus riding (1.5 hours out and 1.5 hours back on a winding road...take note if you get motion sick like one of our trip members). I think the Westwater Canyon trip is great for anyone who wants to just ride. The first half is nearly flat water with no wave action. The second half has about 10-12 minutes of some Class IV waves (in July), then the guides tied the boats together and we motored back with a few minutes to swim. My guide, Nancy, knew how to handle the waves, but was having a problem with a faulty oar grip. She spent a lot of time gossiping about other guides and office personnel with one of the office staff who was riding with us on her day off. She didn't know much about the geology, history, or flora and fauna of the area. I wished I was on a different boat with the knowledgeable guide. Lunch was sandwiches and some fruit and chips, etc., but a huge amount of food waste. They brought too much food and threw away about a third of what they brought. I was astounded that a company that's been in business as long as they have can't plan better for 17 passengers.

Yelp
4 hr sunset Arches. Had a wonderfull sunset tour of Arches National Park with Kim 3to7pm. She was so knowledgeable and patient with our walking limitations and lucky for us a small number of our group, lol, 2 ! We got so lucky. Thank you Kim for sharing all your knowledge and indulging us Floridians ! Views breathtaking and so glad we didn't do this on our own. R&R, Miami, Fl

Yelp
We had an amazing adventure touring Hell's Revenge!! Our guide was very knowledgeable about the vehicle as well as the area we were touring! A must do when traveling to Moab!!

Yelp
Went white water rafting with Calvin and a badass crew a few weeks ago, tide was high and the overall experience was just AWESOME. Thrilling, exhilarating, amazing. Calvin was hilarious, and great at guiding us through the parts that others were afraid to take (hehe). Lunch was at a resort since the Moab AC owner has a connections with the resort owner. GREAT lunch, I even noticed that the guides waited to eat until after everyone else had gotten their food ... nice touch guys. Seriously! Highly recommend! 10/10!

Karen R.

Yelp
The late afternoon Arches tour with Kim was really good. She provided a running commentary on the park and highlights. We were able to take some good walks to see amazing arches. I would recommend this tour and actually, already have!

Yelp
Such a fun time. We did the sunset hummer tour and it was fun for everyone. We had a group with ages ranging from 10-65 and everyone had a blast. Out tour guide, Patrick, was fantastic and he really made sure everyone felt safe and was having a good time. I would highly recommend this company and this specific tour! The views, the thrills, and the factual tidbits were just amazing!

Yelp
Cannot recommend high enough. Amazing experience from booking till the end. We did the morning half day rafting trip. So great for and with kids.

Pam F.

Yelp
We had a delightful day river rafting with folks we had never met but by the end, felt like we knew each other pretty well! Meg was our guide and HJ was the guide of the other raft. It was clear both women were quite knowledgeable and passionate about their work! I highly recommend this experience and with this company. Everything was well organized so the participants could truly enjoy the day! Pam and Walt Ferris San Diego, CA.

Catherine J.

Yelp
Our tour guide Mike was INCREDIBLE. He was knowledgeable, funny, and very well versed in handling the back country terrain. We took the sunset safari tour and even though there were bouts of rain, Mike kept an eye on the sky and timed our trip perfectly. This tour was SO fun and exciting - we were slightly nervous to begin with but Mike kept us feeling safe the entire time. I wish I could give this adventure more than 5 stars! Thanks to MAC and Mike for such a memorable experience!!! Mike if you are reading this, you ROCK!

Yelp
What an awesome experience!!! Tate was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. He answered about one million questions without getting annoyed. Had a chance to talk to other guides on the bus, and they were great too. Lunch was good. Sun was raging, but no burn because of excessive sunscreen.
