This Surreal National Park Has 2,000+ Natural Stone Arches, Starry Night Skies, and a Scenic 18-mile Drive

"To fuel up before or after a hike, Moab Coffee Roasters roasts beans onsite daily and offers piping coffee, savory breakfast bites, smoothies, juices, ice cream and gelato; for a post-hike treat I recommend ordering an affogato." - Stephanie Vermillion Stephanie Vermillion Stephanie Vermillion is a travel journalist and photographer covering culture and adventure for Travel + Leisure Outside, and more. I had been eyeing this place ever since we got to Moab and was excited when my hubby said we could come here in between hikes. I wouldn't call the staff unwelcoming, but no one seemed happy to be there. It was kind of weird. I felt like an inconvenience even though I was bringing in money, I was the only customer needing help, and it was hours from closing time. The inside is kind of shabby and really unremarkable, which would have been remedied with good coffee/service but it was just alright. Would have spent more money there if I was more comfortable. I'm not saying they should be grinning ear-to-ear and hyped to welcome us in, but maybe don't act like your customers are chores. The people sitting outside made the same comments when we were leaving.

Staff was friendly and the coffee is amazing. I appreciate the amount of sugar free flavors available

Their coffee roast was toasty and fresh. When we were in town we used to go every day. They have best service and helpful staff. We also got fresh roasted beans and it’s really amazing. They serve yummy huckleberry ice cream. Everyone who is in town they should visit this coffee house.

This Huckleberry ice cream was exactly what I needed after being out in the heat of Moab for so long. It was refreshing and had a great price for ice cream nowadays. The texture of the ice cream was slightly thick but it worked well with the huckleberry flavor. The place has a nice coffeeshop atmosphere and it is well air conditioned.

Stopped in for a dessert. Was well worth the effort. Server put effort into the 2 scoops of Gelato we selected. Sat inside as the sun was fairly warm for walking around downtown Moab after a bike ride earlier in the day. Inside was cool, but plenty of folks were taking advantage of the tables outside. Constant stream of folks looking for eats, but service kept them moving smoothly.

With resort town rent, prices of tiny sales will always be higher than suburban strip malls. But while this may lead some ice cream and coffee shops to serve middling product, MCR does not disappoint. Espresso gelato float? I'd never even heard of such a thing. Affofato is what it's called, and it's divine. Excellent coffee, gelato, ice cream, chocolates. Small gift shop and lots of seating both indoors and out to enjoy your treats. Friendly staff, good presentation.

Coffee snob report: mid-day, single shot in a ceramic espresso cup, they wiped the basket out, didn’t have stale puck sitting in the basket, good press, good timed shot, decent creama. I can’t stress enough how rare it is to get a good shot mid day in the U.S.!!! In fact, I went back for a second just to see consistency, nailed it. Typically it’s unbelievably bitter or sour, but this was done right. Great job!

Had a great latte from here while jumping between parks with my husband! You can tell they use good quality beans. Super cute set up and smells amazing just walking up. Would definitely come in again if in the area.
