Why Restaurant Waiters Now Explain Every Single Menu

"When a place gives a good Spiel, like Diner, it's been baked into service since day one: I appreciate that the very short daily menu can be explained in a matter of minutes and is even written onto the table — still a nice touch all these years later." - Alan Sytsma

Google
Our favorite restaurant in Moab--we ate there 4 times, for breakfast and lunch, during our 4-night stay. Very large menu, with breakfast and ice cream available anytime. Fast, cheerful service. Remarkably good food--even fried shrimp (definitely not local!) was surprisingly good. Cute atmosphere and very clean. Highly recommended.

Google
We decided to go southwest style at the diner since we’d had burgers for lunch. Really great menu with tons of options from standard diner fare, southwest style, and breakfast all day. Our food was decent and came out quickly after we had the chance to order. It was prior to ordering that was the issue. We sat with no word from a server for 10+ minutes, even with eye contact with two servers. Throughout the meal our server was very abrupt with us and had interest in checking on our food or refilling our drinks. My guess is she was having a bad day due to something else or just overwhelmed by the dinner rush. A couple employees were super friendly though. I’d try someplace different

Google
The food portions are very big and very good. I was not sold on their sweerwater potatoes; they needed salt. Apart from that, the soup, the bread, and the steak were really good. There is no need for appetizers with the amount of food they serve. The service was fast, and they kept coming to check on us. The history of the diner makes it a great place to visit.

Google
Good service and good waiter. Everyone was very nice. I had one the best tasting omelets ever. Then I had a delicious milk shake. The background music fit the atmosphere of a diner. Thank y'all for the good service and food.

Google
I eat here every time I make a trip to Moab. Tasty dinner food with a flair, I love the sweet water potatoes! Staff are friendly and try to be accommodating. Generous portions for breakfast keep me sustained while on my Moab adventures or a filling dinner after a long day’s worth of hiking. Come early as this spot is always packed!

Stopped into Moab Diner after a full day of hiking and exploring at Arches National Park. This place is a culinary haven that serves more than just a plate of food, it is an experience that'll fuel your next adventure. We heard that this place was a local’s favorite for decades, feeding hungry travelers and outdoor enthusiasts alike, so we decided to give it a try and quite happy we did. The cozy atmosphere inside is totally retro-chic decor and immediately transports you back to a bygone era, where burgers were juicy, fries were crispy, and milkshakes were a dime a dozen. The menu reads like a love letter to the classics, with tried-and-true favorites and do not forget to leave room for a classic milk shake or maybe a slice of homemade cherry pie with a scoop of ice cream on the side. A special thank you goes out to Linda, who did all she could to make our dinner so enjoyable. So, we highly recommend Moab Diner to anyone after a day of exploring the rugged beauty of Utah's red rock landscape, because there is no better place to refuel your body, than the Moab Diner.

Google
Great food but lowsy coffee. We had a late lunch that was very good. Then we had breakfast another day; food was good but not the coffee which is a big part of breakfast. The vibe is appropriate to a diner atmosphere. Menu prices are decent for the location. Staff are friendly enough but long wait for water or coffee refills; even bad coffee becomes essential in the morning.

Google
Came an hour before closing so no issues parking and was able to find a table right away. Service was great and food was delicious. I had dinner but they do serve breakfast all day.
google avatar

Yelp
SUCH a good meal! They give you a bunch of food for the all day breakfast which is especially great if you're coming from the nearby hikes! The service was super fast even though the diner was packed full for dinner. Our waitress was very attentive and brought our food to us hot and quickly!! Every dish I saw people have looked so delicious, seems like you can't go wrong with what you order here

Yelp
Rolling through Moab on a 12-hour road trip from Albuquerque to Salt Lake City, I made a pit stop at Moab Diner and let's just say, the bacon burger didn't stand a chance. I barely sat down before I was devouring it. It was hot, juicy, and everything a road-weary traveler could hope for. The bacon? Crispy perfection. The bun? Soft and fresh. The burger? Gone in record time. The fries were classic and golden; not seasoned, but still crispy and solid when dipped in ketchup (which I clearly did with zero shame). It was the kind of meal that makes you feel human again after hours of car snacks and gas station regrets. The only downside? The waiter dropped the food off and then went full disappearing act. No check-in, no refills, just poof. A little more attention would've made the experience even better. Still, for a fast, tasty, no-fuss lunch in the middle of a long-haul drive, Moab Diner delivers. 8/10 - Would absolutely swing by again for that burger.

Yelp
The classic diner food at Moab Diner perfectly hits the spot after a long day of hiking in the national parks. It is in the middle of town, where the hotels are, a convenient location. Came here for an early dinner, around 4pm. It wasn't too busy, and we received good service and our food right away. I tried the diner deluxe burger and the french dip sandwich. Both were tasty, with a generous side of fries. The price for the food was mot bad. Would come back!
google avatar

Yelp
We came here hungry after a big day of hiking and were quickly seated and given waters without asking. We ordered a bacon cheeseburger + fries, a mushroom bacon cheeseburger + tomato bisque soup, and a cookies and cream milkshake to share. The food came out so fast I'm not sure how they cooked the burgers! Everything tasted great, fries could have more seasoning though. As Iowans, we liked that they sell Blue Bunny ice cream. The place filled up quick after 5:30 and everything people ordered looked so good. They have a good amount of booths and tables. The interior looks very much like an old school diner with the colors, decor, and ice cream counter. Prices were reasonable. Would recommend!
google avatar

GLENN F.

Yelp
Good food, and better yet the best ice cream stop in town! Today we just came in for dessert after dinner!
google avatar

Mira S.

Yelp
Classic diner feel, friendly service, quick food prep. The cooking staff even greeted people and made sure they were seated quickly. The menu has some variety. The grilled chicken sandwich was very tasty, with a whole slice of green chili. I loved that side options included chicken soup, which had dumplings in it--it was the perfectly sized lunch! They have parking on each side. The only inconvenience is that there is only one restroom and it's outside.
google avatar

Yelp
We recently ate here after a full morning of hiking. We were between regular meal times so it wasn't super busy. Service was friendly and quick and the burgers were amazing!

Yelp
The perfect place to grab breakfast before embarking on the day's adventures. It's a small little cafe in the center of the main street that runs through Moab. It provides a very classic diner experience. The coffee and the food are really good. I'd definitely eat here again if I ever find myself back in Moab. It was actually the best meal we had while staying in the area.
google avatar

Ron N.

Yelp
Excellent food, quick and attentive service, reasonable prices for what you get, overall a very satisfying experience. The ambience is perfect. Highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
Great staff and fun vibe. Food was solid diner food. We came twice, once for dinner when we arrived and another day we brought some friends for breakfast. Would have liked to get some ice cream but didn't have any room left after eating. Will go back the next time we are in Moab!
google avatar

Yelp
They have fountain drinks on their menu that aren't sold. Party of 7 seated after us had their meal before us. Chicken noodle soup had no chicken in it. Hamburger wasn't hot. The hamburger bun was all dried out. The pancakes and egg weren't hot. Chicken fried stake wasn't hot. The baked potato wasn't warm enough to melt the butter. Fries were cold. Can't figure out why this place is busy. I'd never come back. We had to go up to the register to pay our check because waiter never came back. Sub par food and service at restaurant prices.
google avatar

Yelp
Really cute classic diner in the heart of Moab's downtown neighborhood! The character of this place is very retro and old school, with traditional diner offerings like a full breakfast menu, burgers, shakes and malts. We went in for breakfast and I ordered the chorizo Sweetwater skillet, which was delectably spiced and filling. I also ordered a coffee malt and it HIT THE SPOT. You can order any ice cream flavor as a shake or malt, and it's a wonderful place to bring the whole family as a stop on your trip to beautiful Moab. The only downside was my friend's biscuits and gravy, which came out cold. Our service was prompt and friendly! We were in and out in a timely manner and had a great experience, ending our trip on a high note.
google avatar

Rosie H.

Yelp
They have the best ranch, I don't know how or why but it's so good but I love it. They also have this white bean and ham soup that is incredible.
google avatar

Yelp
Convenient, open early. Service was good. Coffee cup Kept full. We ordered simple breakfast. They were ok. Price was decent. Average.

Yelp
Good hearty food at very reasonable prices Our family of 4 stopped at Moab Diner for dinner in Aug 2024 after a day long drive from Denver. We were really hungry and chose this restaurant based on good reviews and many recommendations. The place is mostly a Mexican restaurant running in a typical old-style diner setting. The food was good, flavorful, and hearty with exception of taquitos. Portion were generous, service was quick, prices were very moderate. Overall, we had a satisfying meal. We can recommend Moab Diner if you are looking for a good Mexican/American food in simplistic diner setting. Appetizers Taquitos - this was a total miss. Dry, with almost no filling these taquitos didn't impress at all. Entrees Beef Stir Fry - tasty and savory. Beef Taco Salad - delicious. 10oz Ribeye - typical steak you can get in a diner. It was not a steakhouse grade steak of course, but was good enough. Kids chicken Tenders - good. Dessert Banana Split - excellent and rich, like banana split should be.

Yelp
Moab Diner was listed on everyone's food recommendation list for Moab, so of course we had to try it! It feels a bit like you're stepping back in time to an old-school diner - we loved it. It was so incredibly busy when we were there, but the staff were so efficient at getting everything done while still staying friendly. Food was pretty good. Their smothered burrito is MASSIVE and COVERED in chili sauce with a good amount of steak... Tasty. And it came with a side of taquitos and rice. Pretty good for $16. Also got the Diner French Dip ... it was also good and came with a surprisingly good side salad. Good dessert options. Their banana split is plenty to share between two or three people and super delicious. If you think of stereotypically good diner food, this is where it's at. Big portions at reasonable prices. Wouldn't drive super far to eat here, but if I was already in Moab, good place for lunch or dinner.

Yelp
I ordered the Santa Fe plate dinner. It was absolutely gross, the rice was tasteless and cold, the two breaded chicken tenders under the green chili seem like they had probably been frozen for months, it was tasteless. I was so excited about the Chile Relleno spring roll and it was disgusting. My only saving Grace was the baked potato I paid extra for when I ordered. I did not even eat 1/4 of my plate, and the waiter could not care less that I did not like the food. I did not initially tell him I did not like the food, but it's very obvious when the entire plate is pushed to the edge of the table and I asked him to take it away. He had a bad attitude, and there was nothing friendly about him. He never smiled once. I did not feel valued as a customer, and he did not care that I left hungry. Horrible customer service and I will never come back here again. I have never been treated so rudely out of all the places I have been in Moab. All the other restaurants have been so nice and Awesome. And I will spread the word. It makes me wonder that if the owner knew how disappointed I was in the meal, if he would have offered to change it for something else, but the waiter did not even bother notifying any manager.

Yelp
my wife and I dinner there on 6/23 and 6/26. Food was great! Price was well worth the quality and quantity. this was refreshing since Moab can be expensive to visit. The ice cream bar is especially great! Ordered a two scoop sundae-the girl who made my sundae "hooked me up" with a great filling sundae-almost spoiled my dinner. I have to give a huge shout out to our servers Robert and Mason. We really appreciated them both. their service made our visit special! highly recommend this place for breakfast, lunch or dinner
google avatar

Kim L.

Yelp
This place was right across the street from our hotel, so went to check it out for a later lunch after visiting the parks. Very cute, old fashioned diner vibe! They have all the flavors of blue bunny iced cream right as you walk in. The tables have all the outdoors stuff on them. It fits right into the culture of Moab. Our waiter was awesome, he made great recommendations. I wouldn't have tried the sweetwater potatoes without his recommendation - they were fantastic and a signature dish! He also recommended the taco salad, which I loved. The shell could have been crisper, but loved all the fresh insides! The only downfall was - you have to go outside to go to the bathroom, and it was cold for us Tucson folks - EEK!

Cee B.

Yelp
Service was awesome!! And a throwback or nostalgia atmosphere.. Shoot better than Denny's that's for sure.. You will not regret their milkshakes and a must.

Yelp
The Good: :: it's a local business! :: easy to get seated :: very on point with the diner vibes :D :: service was very friendly :: prices were reasonable inline with diner prices :: classic diner fare offered--you won't be disappointed :: very clean The Bad: :: service was a bit slow even though it wasn't that busy--was a while to get someone to refill water, get the check, etc and had to wave arms around like a crazy person to get attention and chase down folks The Ugly: :: none Would I go back? For sure....next time I'm in Moab, I'll be sure to swing by this fine diner and glutton up on all the things! This place is IN.

Yelp
Aye at Moab dinner after a long day at arches and it was spectacular. Great prices and friendly staff, along with very generous portions on all day breakfast was perfect for us. Would totally recommend, has a great old timey diner feel.
google avatar

Edward B.

Yelp
Great service. Friendly staff. Wonderful food. Breakfast was the best. Well worth the visit when in Moab.
google avatar

Tania M.

Yelp
Didn't enjoy my dinner here, had a liver with onion, the onion was too crunchy, the liver was too chewy, overcooked and under salted while the soup of the day was overly salted and so was my bacon.
google avatar

Kristen M.

Yelp
Exceptional customer service! The green chile omelette with bacon is AMAZING!!! Serving portions are large. The minute we walked in the door I was all in. Did not disappoint!!! Fun diner with ample seating. A few outside tables too.

Mark D.

Yelp
Great food good service. Warning to Vegetarians there green chili has pork in it unlike what you find in New Mexico green Chile sauce. Will return when in Moab.
google avatar

Terry V.

Yelp
Best dish I've had in Moab. The only problem is I won't be able to choose anything else when I go back. Fast friendly service and reasonably priced.
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
Food was great! Large portions- we left stuffed! Definitely try the smothered sweet water potatoes w the green chili sauce. They were fantastic! Typical diner feel & food. Space was clean. Our server was nice and helpful with the questions we had. She let me try to chili sauce to make sure it wasn't too spicy for me. :)

Daniel M.

Yelp
Fantastic food, quick service and exceptional prices. We actually ate here twice on a recent 3-day weekend, and were very happy with everything both times. In a town catering primarily to tourists, it was very refreshing to see classic diner food served at prices that aren't trying to swindle unsuspecting visitors. The Moab Diner is a classic retro-style eatery, and the vibe is spot on for that era. We ate here on a Friday lunch and a busy Saturday dinner, and both times our food was out quick, accurate and tasty. The Moab Diner should definitely be your go-to option if you are in town and looking for quick, tasty food at a great price.

Caroline Y.

Yelp
Wait staff was short with us and wanted us to hurry to order and didn't let the last person finish. Food was over cooked. Hair was found in food and staff tried to blame us even though the hair was cooked into the food. This was the worst experience I have ever had with eating out. Do not recommend there are many other restaurants in town that would be worth the money.
google avatar

Majere' W.

Yelp
We stopped for a fun lunch on our way to Colorado. The diner was super cute and super clean. The service was awesome. Everyone was so nice! The food was mediocre. It satisfied our hunger, but we found the flavors and quality to be extremely basic and generic.
google avatar

Dale H.

Yelp
Nice breakfast stop. Lots of tables, pretty qui k turn around, fresh coffee and tasty breakfast choices - no unique breakfasts, but plenty of great choices. I had the Lion special (2 eggs over easy, sausage patties, extra crispy hash browns and what toast and it was all delicious. Parking out front is kinda limited (unless you have an off road jeep).
google avatar

Heather C.

Yelp
I was not expecting Moab Diner to be such an awesome spot. Honestly, whenever anyone talked about Moab Diner, I was expecting mediocre food and an outdated atmosphere. Although, this place is hip! The parking spaces outside are extremely limited. It is a tight squeeze around corners and into spots and there really isn't that many spots to begin with. Inside the restaurant is about the same. Granted, I did visit Moab Diner during Easter Jeep Safari, so I am sure that added to it...but it was shoulder-to-shoulder and I was a bit confused on the system. I stood at the front for a while, by the counter, before someone finally let me know that you are just supposed to grab a seat and then someone will come over to you. Moab Diner has got it all figured out. They know their crowd and cater to them perfectly. The tables have Jeep-themed advertisements on them, with brands such as BestTop. They also had custom Jeep Safari T-Shirts for sale. One thing that really stood out to me, was the service. No, it is not over the top nice...but it also isn't Waffle House service either. What stood out in regards to the service, was the speed. Holy crap, these people are fast. There is employees running around everywhere and the food comes out within a matter of minutes. When it came to the quality of food itself...it was good. It wasn't anything spectacular or super flavorful, but it wasn't bad either. The first time I went to Moab Diner, I ordered the chicken sandwich. It was nothing extraordinary and the bacon was way too chewy. The second time I visited Moab Diner, I just opted for a chocolate shake and it was pretty good. I think the name of the game at Moab Diner is "quick and easy". They don't have any incredible dishes that you won't be able to make at home and there isn't really anything here that stands out, in terms of food. However, they have some of the quickest service I have ever seen and it still is a great local spot. I also appreciate the fact that they support the Jeep community so well. I'd definitely come back to Moab Diner in the future.

Yelp
Had a variety of good meals here on our Arches trip. The Smothered Sweetwaters were my highlight. Everyone in my party was always very happy with their choices. The ONLY meal I wasn't a fan of was because I had to get it to go, which, to go fries are never good so that's on me. Staff was super friendly, portions were pretty big, and it's cute on the inside. They have a nice selection of ice cream for desert! Huckleberry was our favorite.
google avatar

Diana C.

Yelp
Wish I could give them 10 stars. Charming cute place, awesome service. Just the best! Prices very good! Had the Chef Salad, wow huge! Took part home to justify trying the Cherry pue Ala mode. OMG! The BEST I've ever had. Came warmed up with large generous scoop of French vanilla ice cream and big dollop of Whipped cream. Soooo good. This place is PRIMO!!! All you guys there ROCK! Keep up the great work. We are coming back!
google avatar

Nancy C.

Yelp
Retro, family friendly diner in Moab. Lots of variety on the menu for everyone, including breakfast anytime. We had the roast beef plate with mashed potatoes, kids meal grilled cheese and a vanilla milkshake. Everything was delicious and the portion size plentiful. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
google avatar

Janis R.

Yelp
Went for dinner and it was so fantastic we went back for breakfast. Best diner ever!!! Great food, superb service and reasonable prices. Dinner was classic burger, steak and liver/onions (3 people). All really good. Breakfast was skillet breakfast ( potato's with onions, green peppers and cheese), biscuits and gravy, pancakes and eggs/potatos. We all shared and agreed best breakfast ever. They serve ice cream. There is a whole ice cream counter with cones, banana splits, shakes etc. was too full to try. Wish this place near my home!

Yelp
My favorite place to eat while we stayed in Moab. Ate here twice in 5 days! We received a ton of great service while we're there but this place was tops. We were seated and handed menus immediately both times. They got right to us and had smokin hot food on our table in short order. I LOVE breakfast. My friend on YELP to me that there are areas of the US that call a Denver omelet a "Western" omelette. Eggs , bell and or other peppers, onions, ham, and cheese. Same same, right? Right! Add the mountain hash browns, two slices of sourdough with 4 different jam option, Tabasco, catsup and an ice cold DC. Went back for the exact same thing again. It's a definite yes
google avatar

Joe R.

Yelp
This place could be the diner of diners. Atmosphere is lively, including some classic rock and roll hits on the speakers, plenty of staff to take care of you, and good food to boot. I ordered the soup and salad with the chicken noodle soup and a roll. Very good! Prices are reasonable and there is plenty to choose from. Lots of parking available in the lot or on the street.
google avatar

Lu G.

Yelp
I've spent an awful lot of my life in Grand and San Juan counties. I make it a point to stop for a meal at the Moab Diner nearly every time I drive through Moab (or stayed in town), and have done so for decades. I've tried roughly half of their menu and have never been disappointed. That said, my favorite remains ham & eggs with a side of biscuits & gravy; this even makes an excellent dinner. Service is generally good and helpful. The atmosphere is mellow and family friendly. So many restaurants have come and gone in Moab since the late 1950s. May the Moab Diner live on for ever!
google avatar

Katrina S.

Yelp
We stopped here for a very late dinner (9PM) and there were still a quite a few people enjoying dinners, ice cream, and time together. We had a phenomenal server - Mason - who could tell we were very tired and hungry. He did an excellent job making sure we had our questions answered about food and getting our plates to us quickly. We enjoyed the Diner Deluxe burger which was delicious and had a great burger, the Smothered Burrito which was full of flavor, and the Lions Breakfast which had the best hashbrowns, eggs perfectly cooked, and crispy thick bacon. We also had a cup of rocky road ice cream, a chocolate shake, and the peach sorbet (dairy free). Thanks, Mason, for the peach sorbet suggestion and helping us have a great late dinner!

Yelp
Delicious breakfast with great service. I loved the chorizo skillet and my buddy had amazing French toast. Very nice interior of the restaurant as well.
google avatar

Ludovica F.

Yelp
This diner is so cute! It looks like a 1950s diner right in the middle of Moab! The food is also delicious. My group and I all ate the Veggies sandwich and it was so tasty! The service was also fast and efficient.
google avatar

Evan H.

Yelp
Classic American diner! Portions were large and the food was good. Must have when coming through Moab!

Yelp
First time to Moab and wanted to grab a quick meal. We sat quickly and placed our orders. (Four of us.) our server put in our orders and 3 came out correct but one was totally wrong. They corrected the issue. The food was at best just ok. We had a variety of items from a stuffed burrito, chicken sandwich, Kokopelli chicken and a steak and rice dish with veggies. Only visited once left underwhelmed.
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
Really great place to stop and eat some good home down food. Fun ambiance, friendly and lots of yummy desserts.Service was good too.

R T.

Yelp
Restaurant is full of people. I am a visitor to this town. No "closed" sign visible. No hours on the door. I walk in and am told they are closed. I ask where the sign is? The lady says there are two on the front, so I go check. There is!! They are impossible to see black open signs. Only in Moab, where you get a whole group of unsuspecting customers every week could this type of attitude survive.
google avatar

Keely W.

Yelp
I'm not one to leave food reviews but GOT DAMN, it was good food. I had the chicken, mashed potatoes and can't remember what else but the mashed potatoes were good
