The hostel is well known by all the local there. I was walking down the road and everyone know I am going to the hostel. It’s indeed a gem for the price, location, and experience. You will get greeted by a cat (maybe at night) and a dog (all day) if you are the chosen one :D All staffs are really friendly here. The people who stay in the hostel are really cool. I don’t think I’ll like Jamaica as much if I have never stay here. Thank you 🫶

Excellent place to stay for a true experience of Montego Bay. It truly is a single minute walk to the centre of town. A 10 minute walk to a free beach and a 20 minute walk to Doctors Cave (paid for beach). There are PLENTY of options for food, be it vegetarian (Millenium Victory), KFC, many takeaways, or a supermarket that’s quite literally opposite. You can cook on the premises or choose from the many obvious and not so obvious places to eat. Street vendors aplenty with traditional food, fresh fruits and vegetables that Jamaica is famous for. Mobay Kotch is very welcoming with a melting pot of people from all corners of the world. The proprietor, Vanessa, is of course very knowledgeable and approachable, as is Mel the housekeeper. Perfect place to base yourself and explore or just relax and enjoy. The listed building adds to the history that many don’t appreciate Jamaica has to offer. Picka, the very playful dog on the premises will keep you and herself entertained for countless hours. Jerky, the premises cat is equally mischievous. Believe me, EVERYTHING you need is within reach of this location and it is a great choice as a base in Montego Bay. I would obviously recommend.

Very basic accomodation. The triple room doesn't have the bathroom ensuite but it's outside. There's not A/C, Tv or fridge. The parking is limited. The wifi works only in one place where all the people stay and talk loudly until late so you can't sleep until 3-4 am.

I've just finished my stay at Mobay Kotch. My stay was absolutely first class! The hostel really has everything you need for your trip to Jamaica/Montego Bay. It's walking distance to the beach, the shops, street food and public transport. Vanessa is a cracking host and will do anything she can to help you enjoy your stay. It's also a great place to meet other travellers of all ages, this was a personal highlight. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in Montego Bay, this is the place!

Lovely host, nice rooms, great community in the backyard. I give only 4 stars because my friend had a severe reaction to mosquitos biting at night and Kotch does not provide mosquito protection. Bring your own as the rooms have slats instead of windows for cooling. The location is amazing in the real downtown. Lots of good deals to be had

This was my first solo trip out of the country and at a hostel. Mobay Kotch made me feel as though I was not alone. From the time I was picked up from the airport, I felt good vibes. Arriving at the hostel was a bit scary because of the dogs (I am terrified of them). I knew to expect one from reading the reviews, but there were two. After the whole "sniff" thing I had no problems. I met some really cool ppl and we hang out and had tons of fun. Although there was a disgusting moment from one of the guests with cleanliness, overall the place is clean and a housekeeper comes daily. I was aware of there being no central air, so I packed a cooling towel. It is nice and breezy at night with the ceiling fans. The cold showers I could appreciate because it was sooo hottt!!! I ate from the street vendors, because I don't like cooking and EVERYTHING is walking distance. I would definitely stay again.

Returned yesterday (4/2/2024) after staying at Mobay Kotch for 6 nights with my 14 year old son. We had an amazing time! The people were great - Vanessa (your host) and others there were extremely helpful in helping us to get the most out of our time in Jamaica. Everything was as advertised and better. Make sure to pay close attention as there is no AC and the rooms can get warm at night - but if you are alright with that, this was a great experience at a great price and they kept the beer fridge stocked! We will definitely be back to see more of Jamaica at some point! They set us up with a great driver at a good price for day trips. And you are staying super close to a lot of great things to do such as Doctors Cave, Kelly's Watersports and good food options if you are so inclined. One of the best parts was hanging out with the crowd of travelers in the evening and sharing stories. You will hear about things to do you did not know about - pay attention and your trip will be amazing, safe and relatively easy!
